The Edge Of Trust Worthy

"I swear, I saw her come this way!" Mokuba huffed as he walked with his brother toward the beach.

"Of course Connar would be drawn to the ocean..." Seto sighed, "It seems her love of sea food is deeply programmed..." he blinked, "Why are you so gung ho on finding her now?" he teased, "You seemed in a hurry to get away from her earlier..."

"Well I was MAD at her then!" Mokuba huffed, "We're getting ready to leave now, I deserve an 'I'm your PERMANANT Uncle Mokey' now deal with it!' hug!" He blinked as he noticed a familiar head of pink hair sitting down by the dock with a male decked out in black.

"Pfff...found her." he snickered.

"...Is she spending time with that Princeton boy again?" Seto huffed.

"Take responsibility, Seto~" his younger brother chuckled, "We brought her into our life and wheather we like it or not, he's part of it."

Though Seto was not the least bit amused. However, something else caught Mokuba's attention. Two Shadowy figures were now creeping up on the two of them...and it did not bode well for him...

"Connar..." he gasped softly and started to pick up the pace.

"Awww...isn't that cute~?" Slade's irritating voice sounded from behind the two and they both glanced back to find him with Jagger leering down at them.

"You scrubs." Chazz huffed, "What do you want now!?"

"What do you think we want!?" Slade huffed, "What we always wanted...World Domination!"

"And what's rightfully ours." said Jagger.

"Get bent." Connar muttered.

"What did you say, you foster brat!?"

"You took my deal. You lost. Plain and simple." she said, "Your contract was null and void the instant you accepted the terms of the both deals and lost." she stated, "Besides that...It will do you no good to haggle me anyway..." Connar blinked, "I no longer own anything."

"What!?" Jagger blinked, "So you lied?"

"Not at all." she said to him, "I merely returned it to its rightful owner..."

"Hear that?" Chazz huffed, "You no longer have any bussiness here! So just get lost already!"

"That's what you think!"said Jagger.

"You think we'll just let you get away with playing us!?" said Slade.

"Ahh! H-Hey-!" Connar gasped as she felt herself suddenly get grabbed up.

"Hey, what the hell do you you think you're doing!?" Chazz snapped as he tried to pry his brothers's hands from the girl while they lifted her from the ground. She grunted and struggled against the rough hold of Slade's grip.

"Get your hands off of her! Are you crazy!?" Chazz huffed trying to pull her away.

"Crazy!?" Jagger snapped, "We're just claiming what's ours-"

"CONNAR!" A sudden voice called out her name, startling the Princetons into looking to find Mokuna running toward the shore.

"Shit it's Mokuba Kaiba" said Slade.

"Quick! Drop the girl Slade, and let's get out of here before the older Kaiba arrives!" said Jagger.

"Hmph, this ought to slow them down some!" Slade smirked as he tossed the girl forcefully into the sea.

"What are you doing!?" Chazz gasped.

"Just dropping her into the ocean~" said Slade, "A little water never hurt anyone~"

"Though, she might get a little washed up!" said Jagger, and both laughed as they ran, hoping to use the distraction to buy time for a quick get away.

"CONNIE!" Mokuba cried out as he watched his niece make impact with the water.

"Mokuba!" Seto called out, passing by as a sudden blur before tossing a set of keys into the startled younger male's hands, "Get the Chopper!"

"R-Right!" said Mokuba as he skidded to a stop to run back toward where they had landed their means of transportation.

"Ghh! AAUGH!" Connar gasped as she re-surfced above the bobbing waves that soon after began to tower taller as the wind picked up and washed over her, "Hellpp-!" She choked on salt water and coughed with each breath she re-claimed from the rise and fall within the waves.

"Connar, Hang on!" Chazz called out as he moved to dive in, while at the same time a taller stoic male blurred in his periphreal. With a glance he looked beside him, dark eyes widening to find none other than Seto Kaiba taking the dive right beside him. They each landed with a solid splash through the dark salty surface. Connar's small frame struggled against the current, swimming toward the surface to be forced back down by the towering waves. Chazz and Seto swam together into the deep toward the falling girl, both reaching out towards her extended arms. Chazz gripped her hand in his and pulled her up toward his chest. Seto wrapped his grip around her other wrist and pulled them both up with him toward's the water's surface.

"GAH!" Chazz gasped and coughed along with Seto Kaiba as the broke surface, "Connar!? Can you hear me? Connar!" The girl gasped and coughed, clinging tightly to the two long coats she felt pressed against her. Both Chazz and Connar's body wrapped in Kaiba's embrace as the water suddenly began swaying more rapidly and the pitter patter of a propellar scraped around the air. A Ladder fell from the sky and Mokuba called to them from above.

"Grab on!" called Mokuba, extending an arm down toward them as Seto grabbed the ladder still holding the two struggling teenagers until they could get stable.

"Connar goes up first!" Seto huffed.

"Naturally...!" coughed Chazz as he worked to push her up the ladder while holding onto the grip bar as they swayed in the wind.

"Ahhh~!" Connar screamed and gripped tightly to the bars sobbing, "N-No, dad I'm scared-!" she sobbed.

"Move UP Connar!" Seto said to her, "I'm right here, I promise I won't let you fall..." he stated, "But you need to climb, sweetheart...!"

Connar hated heights. She was shaking and terrified, clinging tightly to the bars of the swaying ladder.

"Come to me, Connar!" Mokuba called out to her, reaching a hand to her while the chopper flew on auto pilot.

"I got you!"

Her eyes trembled as they filled with tears. SHe swallowed hard and nodded shutting them tight as she slowly worked her way up to Mokuba's outstretched hand.

"...All right, Princeton." said Seto, "You're next-"

"But sir-"

"MOVE IT!" said Seto, gripping at the back of the black jacket and pushing him upwards on the dangling ladder. Chazz gasped and gulped nodding as he was pushed up by the Corporate head, and soon followed by him.

"Connar, thank goodness!"Mokuba cried as he pulled in a sobbing Connar Rose. She gripped to his clothes so tight her hands trembled while she sobbed into his chest as Chazz crawled his way into the chopper and coughed, trying to catch his breath, sopping wet and water logged. Following him came Seto Kaiba, choking up salt water and gasping before collapsing under the weight of his own water logged trench coat while he tried to catch his breath

"Connar!" Chazz cried out."

"She's okay." said Mokuba, "A little shaken up...but all right..."

The ash haired male sighed in relief, softly shushing her as he held her warmly in his arms.

"Thank goodness..." he said softly, "I'm so sorry I didn't-"

"You dove in." said Seto.

"...I'm sorry, sir?" Chazz blinked.

"You dove in..." said Seto, "...To save her?"

"I..." Chazz blinked, "of course I did!" he declared, "Any decent man, would! What do you take me for!?"

"That's all I need." Seto sat up slowly and began rolling up the ladder. He didn't say a word further. Chazz blinked curiously, wondering if this was Seto Kaiba's subtle way of saying thanks... without pressing further in the already tense situation, Chazz zipped his lip and glanced around the Blue eyes chopper letting out a low whistle.

"Wow...this chopper's way bigger than ours..." he muttered.

"But of course." Mokuba scoffed, "Kaiba Corp wastes nothing on quality!" he stated.

"If you're here...who's flying it?" Chazz asked.

"I had us on Auto Pilot so I could help get you guys pulled up." Mokuba stated as he wrapped the pink haired girl in a bundled blanket they kept in a storage compartment, "I'm about to get back on the controls as we speak."

"Good." said Seto, "I'll work on getting yhis ladder rolled up...let's head toward the school infirmary.

"Sir, yes sir!" said Mokuba.

The pink haired girl slept soundly wrapped in a Connar burrito, draped over by her father's arms. He held her close to him and didn't move a muscle. He seemed to stare into nothing, remaining silent and lost in his own thoughts...a slight trembling showing in his hands, which he tried to hide by pulling her in closer to him.

"...Seto was really scared today..." Mokuba said softly as he held his hands on the controls while CHazz sat in the seat next to him since Seto and Connar were blocking the seats in the back.

"And so was I..." he said softly,"...When I thought that we might lose her...I was terrified..."

Chazz hung his head in silence for a while, draped up in a spare blanket.

"I'm sorry..." he said softly, "I knew my brothers were scrubs...but I never thought they would sink so low..."

"It wasn't your fault, young Princeton." Mokuba said to him, "...We know that." he blinked, "You dove in after her...and though Seto won't say it to you directly...he's really grateful that you did." the boy blinked his dark blue eyes and gave a gentle sideways glance with a smile, "Thank you."

A humming murmmer sounded in the hall as the Kaiba's walked with stride, guiding the two drenched students. Mokuba kept a gentle hand over the the shoulders of the young Princeton while Seto Kaiba carried his daughter princess style as she slept.

"What happened!?" Jaden tried to get some information from Chazz but the Black cladded Slifer refused to answer. He just shook his head and continued forward with the gentle guidance of Mokuba Kaiba. As they made their way into the Infirmary, Nurse Fontaine instantly cleared off two beds.

"Connar!" Syrus had gasped along side his brother. He tried to get close to her, but was stopped firmly by her father.

"She's all right." Seto Kaiba said in a gentle huff as he placed his sleeping child gently down in the offered bed and tucked her in, "Please...just let her rest for now."

"Uh...right...of course." the girl gulped. She couldn't believe she had spoken four words to Mr. Seto Kaiba himself.

"Hey...I know you." the smaller Kaiba male blinked as he took in the boy's presence, "You're Syrus Truesdale...right?" he questioned, "The younger brother of Connar's old Baby sitter?"

"Uh...yes." he blinked in surprise that they knew of him at all, and the dark haired Kaiba smiled.

"I am Mokuba Kaiba." he stated, "Connar's Uncle..." he blinked and gestureed toward the taller blue eyed brunette, "I'm sure you know this." he stated, "But over there is Mr. Seto Kaiba...Connar's father."

"Yeah...I...just learned of that recently..." Syrus blinked as he shifted his gaze over to the man.

He leaned forward and placed such tender lips upon the forehead of the sleeping pinkette. As he rose up slowly his sharp blue eyes met with his and a gasp got caught in his throat.

I always wondered...about Connar's family...

Syrus blinked as he locked gazes with this powerful man.

He held his age really well. He looked so young.

I thought her father was this...incredibly strict monster of a man...

But...

he blinked.

Her family...

They really love her, don't they?

Mokuba Kaiba placed a hand over his chest as he took a gentleman's bow before the boy that stood before him.

"Thank you, Syrus." said Mokuba, "For being good to our Connar." he stated as he rose up once again to meet his eyes, "She didn't get to have too much of a childhood..." he blinked, "And she never really had a lot of friends...So it's nice to know that she still has you...despite your brother's retirement as her babysitter~" he chuckled.

"Syrus Truesdale, is it?" Seto Kaiba blinked as he stepped forward before the boy and he gulped and nodded, feeling intimidated under his icy gaze that yet...seemed to hold a light of tenderness behind them.

He blinked and nodded as he too bowed politely.

"Huh?" Syrus blinked.

"Please..." Seto said softly, "I hope you will continue to take care of my daughter." he said to her.

"Uh...I..." but before he could get the rest of his words out, Seto Kaiba rose up right once more and turned to take his leave. He stopped short to acknoelge Zane who stood silently in the hall..before meeting Chazz Princeton's bed and exchanged a glance with him.

"You...Princeton." he blinked.

"Uh- Y-Yes, sir?" Chazz blinked curiously as he met with Seto Kaiba's heavy blue eyed gaze.

"...I will thank you for your efforts today." he said to him.

"Uh...yeah." Chazz blinked, "Of course."

Giving a firm nod of acknowledgment Seto then shifted his attention toward the exit and took heavy steps forward once again. Zane Bowing politely as he passed.

Wishing you well, Mr. Kaiba." Zane said softly, "And don't worry...Connar is in good hands under the care of good friends."

Seto gave him a look, holding his gaze for a while before nodding and continuing his walk.

"Let's go, Mokuba." he said sharply.

"Roger!" the younger Kaiba said with a beaming grin, bowing once more before taking his leave. Syrus had to release a held in breath. That was intense...

He always wanted to meet his old friend's family...

I guess next time I should be more careful what I wish for...

He thought to himself and shifted his gaze to a sleeping Connar Rose. He had no idea what happened to these two when they took off alone...

But he was relieved to see them back safe.
