"Isabella slow down!"Colette called out to the newborn. She knew her daughter was excited but the girl didn't have the best control when it came to blending in with humans. Many times Colette had to remind Isabella to slow her movements and not talk so fast. Surprisingly that was the only thing the newborn didn't have control over. When Isabella woke up Colette had been prepared to deal with a blood thirsty vampire but instead she was faced with a mild tempered Isabella who was able to have a full conversation with her before she realized she was thirsty. The only real training she needed was pulling off the fact that she was supposed to be blind. Something that explained her cloudy hazel eyes. Not that Isabella could see. Well not with her eyes. As Colette predicted Isabella had a gift of knowing the future. It gave her the ability to know any situation she was walking into and allowed her to navigate the world just like a person that could see.
"I know mother but she's so close."Isabella said as she slowed down.
"Yes she is but that doesn't mean you can just rush in there. You need to make sure no one sees you talking to her."Colette reminded her.
Isabella sighed."I know I'm just excited."
"And I'm excited for you. Now let's continue on but slowly."Colette told her.
"What do you think she will be like?"Isabella asked.
"From what you have told me she sounds like she is going to be a smart, strong, caring person."Colette said.
"Do you think she will like me?"Isabella asked in a shy voice.
Colette wrapped her arm around Isabella's shoulder."Not only is it impossible to hate your mate but you are an outstanding individual. Anyone would be lucky to have you."
"You are biased."Isabella knew her mother would say something like that.
"Maybe"Colette agreed. "But it doesn't make it any less true."
Isabella perked up when she smelled a large group of humans."We are at the village aren't we?"
"We are. Now where are you supposed to meet her?"Colette looked around but didn't see any signs of the vampire they were there to meet.
"Her sisters have already picked their humans and she is waiting at the tavern for them to return."Isabella told her.
"Let's head to the tavern then."Colette held onto Isabella's arm to keep her from running off again.
"There it is."Isabella pulled on Colette's arm to rush off but the woman held on tight.
"Yes it is but you need to slow down."Colette scented the air to make sure Isabella was right and the woman's sisters were not around. It was of the upmost importance that no one know of this meeting."Step."
Isabella stepped up and waited until Colette opened the door. She was still getting used to her gift and wasn't always able to know what she was walking into. Walking into the room she picked up the scent of honeysuckle and cinnamon."I smell her."
Colette looked around the room trying to find the strawberry blonde vampire that Isabella described to her. A sudden movement in the corner of the room caught her attention. Looking over she caught sight of a woman whose entire focus was on Isabella."I found her."
"Take me to her!"Isabella pulled on her mother's arm again trying to get her moving in the right direction.
"Isabella we will get there slow down."Colette once again used the worn out phrase. The vampire thought she had said those two words more than any other since her daughter had woken up.
"Well hello."Tanya greeted the pair of vampires walking up to her table. Noticing the black haired woman's hand holding on to her mate she let out a low growl.
Colette released Isabella's arm and held up her hands in non threatening manner."I am no threat to you. I have a familiar bond with her. She is my daughter. Not only that but she is blind and needs help getting around sometimes."
"Apologizes."Tanya instantly felt her anger fade. No vampire would dare claim a familiar bond if it wasn't true.
"It's no problem. I believe introductions are in order though. I'm Colette and this my daughter Isabella."Colette nudged Isabella in the side as the girl had seemed to suddenly have a case of shyness.
"I am Tanya. It's wonderful to meet you both. Would you like to sit down."Tanya held out the chair next to her for Isabella. Remembering Colette's warning of Isabella's lack of sight she guided her mate to sit down. Once she sat she scooted her chair closer to the brown haired girl.
"Hi I'm Isabella but you know that."Isabella was feeling off balance now that she was so close to her mate. She had waited for this moment to happen ever since she had the vision and now that it was here she wasn't sure what to do.
"I don't mean to be forward but I heard you when you walked in the door. It sounded like you were looking for me."Tanya said.
"You are right we were. You see Isabella has a gift. Well she has two gifts. One of those gifts is she has visions of the future. In one of her visions she saw you and her meeting and knew that you were mates."Colette explained.
"You have the gift of precognition?"Tanya had never heard of anything like that before.
"When I was human I would have dreams that always came true. It changed when I became a vampire. Not only do they come more often but I can control them now."Isabella told her.
Tanya thought about how that kind of gift be beneficial. It could do a lot to keep her coven out of trouble. Tanya realized that Colette said something else in that statement."You said she had two gifts. What's the other one?"
"Isabella is a shield. Both physical and mental."Colette told her.
"You are also a shield?!"Tanya wasn't sure she believed that. Not only was having a gift rare for a vampire but it was unheard of to have two.
"I'm still learning how to use it."Isabella had many mishaps with trying to train her shield. None she was proud of.
"You're a newborn then?"Tanya concluded.
"I was turned four months ago."Isabella said.
"You have very good control for being so young. Especially with being around your mate."Tanya trailed a finger down the side of Isabella's neck smirking when she felt the newborn tremble.
Isabella gulped."Uhm."
"Before you drag her off to the first empty room you find there are things we need to speak about."Colette could see that Tanya was barely keeping herself under control and knew that if they didn't hurry up with the talk they probably wouldn't be having it.
Tanya didn't take her eyes off of Isabella."What is it we need to talk about?"
"Although your instincts are demanding it you will not be able to complete the bond."Colette held up a hand to stop Tanya's protest."There are many things that are being set in motion. If you complete the bond then the Volturi will systematically kill every coven of vampires in the world and force their gifted members to join the guard by creating false mate bonds and familiar bonds to keep them loyal."
Tanya's mouth fell open in shock."How can you be sure of that?"
"I've seen it. There is so much death and destruction."Isabella had sobbed when she had the vision.
"Jesus."After her coven's experience with the kings Tanya could easily see them doing it."How does not completing the bond stop it from happening?"
"I have to become part of the guard to make Aro feel safe enough to stop seeking out gifted vampires."Isabella put her hand on Tanya's arm when she heard her growl.
"You expect me to allow my blind mate to be taken to the castle where she will be completely helpless?!"Tanya wouldn't let that happen.
"It's because I'm blind that he will trust me to never betray him. He will think that I will have to be reliant on them to survive."Isabella wasn't pleased with the idea but it was the only way to stop what was coming."One thing that will insure my safety is that I have a familiar bond with Queen Athenodora."
"Wait if Isabella has a familiar bond with the queen does that mean she's your mate?"Tanya asked Colette.
Colette gave her sad smile."It does."
"I thought she was king Caius' mate."Tanya hadn't a clue the pair wasn't mated.
"From what Isabella has seen it seems Aro has a member of the guard that can create false bonds and is using her to falsify a mate bond with Athenodora and Caius."Colette had been furious when she had learned of this but knew that she couldn't act right away. It would just get her and Isabella killed.
"I've never heard of a gift like that."Tanya could only imagine the chaos such a gift would cause.
"She is the one who make everyone loyal to the kings."Isabella said.
"Why does she do it?"Tanya asked.
"The kings have kidnapped her mate and are using her as leverage to keep her in line."The more Colette had learned about the kings the more disgusted she was with them.
"Bastards."Tanya honestly wasn't surprised that the kings were so despicable."That still doesn't make me comfortable having Isabella become a member of the guard."
"I'm not comfortable letting my daughter do it either but it's only way to save us all."Colette and Isabella had gone over multiple ways to change the future but the only thing that seemed to make a difference was Isabella being a member of the guard.
"What's the plan once you get there?"Tanya didn't think that Isabella was going to turn herself over and that was it.
"That's where you come in."Isabella said.
"What do you need me to do?"Tanya didn't care what was asked of her she would do it to help out her mate.
"There are many things to come that you will be involved with that will be necessary in bringing down the kings. The first thing is you have to start drinking from animals instead of humans."Isabella could almost feel the disgust coming off of Tanya."I know but it's important because you need a pair of mated vampires named Eleazar and Carmen to become part of your coven. That and it will help you create an alliance with a man that will be changed in a few centuries named Carlisle. He will be the catalyst of the kings' downfall."
"I doubt I can convince Irina and Kate to drink from animals."Tanya didn't think that her sisters would be willing to give up killing humans.
"It's important that Irina do it because if she doesn't her mate won't trust her."Isabella said.
"You know of Irina's mate?"Tanya asked.
Isabella nodded.'You need to find her mate when she is a human child. If you don't she will be forced into a life of prostitution along with her sister."
"I won't let that happen."Tanya wouldn't let anyone be forced into that life.
"Her name is Victoria and her sister's name is Anne. Anne is the older of the two and she is the one you need to approach first. She is the one that will convince Victoria it is a good idea to go along with you."Isabella told her.
"I don't think she will believe me. Can tell her before you leave?"Tanya thought that Irina would believe Isabella over her.
"I can't meet any of them and you can't tell anyone about me or Colette."Isabella had seen what happened if others knew and it wasn't good.
"What if I am around another gifted vampire like Aro?"Tanya wasn't pleased with not being able to tell her sisters about her mate but knew that Isabella had reasons for it.
"That's part of my gift. I can create a mental block on your mind that will shield you from all mental gifts. Including Aro and the witch twins."Isabella had seen how it worked in a vision and had given one to Colette already.
"I am more than happy to have it."Tanya would love to be immune to those three.
"Why don't we go somewhere private so I can do it."Isabella suggested.
"And this is where I leave you."Colette knew that the newly mated pair needed their privacy and was more than willing to give it to them."Isabella I will come back tomorrow at sunset to collect you."
"Thank you mother."Isabella accepted the hug her mother gave her.
"It was nice meeting you Colette."Tanya shook the woman's hand.
"You as well."Colette replied as she stood form her seat and made her way out of the tavern.
Tanya stood from her seat and put her hand on Isabella's arm to guide her out of her seat."Come with me and I'll get us a room at the inn down the street."
"Sounds good to me."Isabella happily followed along with her mate.
"Me too."Tanya said as she led Isabella out of the room. Isabella and Colette had given her many things to think about. One of them being the mate bond. It was taking everything in Tanya to not pounce on Isabella and bite her neck to claim her as her own. She stopped herself knowing that it was the only way to save herself and her sisters. Sisters that she was going to have manipulate a lot in the future. It wasn't something she was completely comfortable with but knew it was necessary. Looking at her mate Tanya just hoped that Isabella's plan worked and they would all make it out of this alive.
