26 DAYS AWAY FROM THE BIG EVENT FORKS, WASHINGTON
"Everyone can relax now. I, Kate Denali am here to save the day!"Kate announced as soon as she exited the van the Denali were riding in. She smiled when she heard Edward growl followed by voices scolding him and warning him to stay away from her family. It seemed like Kate's mission to rile Edward up enough to get Tanya to give her permission to kill him was already going well. Maybe she would team up with the wolves to really get him going. Edward seemed just as put out by them as he did about the Denali. That or she could befriend his wife. They already had some tension between them Kate was sure if she befriended Jessica that Edward would be irate. He wouldn't be able to hold back his anger and would most likely push Tanya to the point of giving Kate permission. Kate decided that would be the perfect plan. Befriend Jessica to piss Edward off. The only downfall would be she would have to talk to the girl but maybe Jessica wouldn't be to bad if her anger towards Edward was still the same when they visited Alaska.
"Tanya, family welcome to our home and thank you coming to our aide."Carlisle greeted the family. They were the last group to show up. He had warned Edward to stay away from them and not provoke them but they already had to hold him back from attacking Kate. It wasn't the first fight Carlisle had to break up that included his son. He had insulted the Amazon coven for the way they dressed and had tried to demand that everyone only drink from animals while they were in Forks. Carlisle was worried most of them would leave if Edward didn't start acting more respectful.
"We will always come to your aide no matter the situation."Tanya lied. Once Isabella confirmed they no longer had to associate with them Tanya was going to lose their numbers and refuse to visit them or allow them to visit her family. She wasn't worried about dealing with any backlash because if they got out of hand Isabella could have the new guard she was setting up take care of them. That was if the Denali didn't do it themselves.
"And I am eternally grateful for that."Carlisle had thanked his god during his prayers many times for bringing the Denali into his life. The coven was directly and indirectly responsible for every milestone the Cullens had gone through. Most of them positive. They had saved Carlisle more times than he could count and done the same for ever member of his family. Even when Edward had been nothing but hateful and antagonizing they had come to his aide. Saving the boy when he went off on his own to kill and drink human blood by telling Carlisle where he was so that he could convince his son to come home. Even now they were there to save Edward's child. It just showed how loyal and honorable the coven was.
"Hey Rosalie I'm glad you're here. All the parts you ordered for my jeep were delivered. I put them in the garage for you. I even set up the same hydraulic lift Tanya told me that you had at your house."Emmett told Rosalie as he and Rachel joined the group. He was very excited for the Denali to be there. They may have been dealing with something serious but he loved when his cousins visited. Not only did it mean Rosalie was going to work on their vehicles but Edward was guaranteed to get his ass kick by at least Kate. Usually it was more than Kate. Depending on which Denali Edward insulted. If it was Rosalie them all them including Eleazar got involved.
Tanya wrapped her arm around Rosalie when she felt her mate tense. She knew of Rosalie's dislike of Emmett's constant need to be friendly and Rachel's obvious jealously and wished she could make both of them leave Rosalie alone. Tanya wouldn't be able to yet. Not until Isabella gave the go ahead. Until then Tanya and the rest of the family happily ran interference for her."Thank you Emmett. After we greet everyone she will happily check that out."
"Sweet."Emmett couldn't wait to see what Rosalie had in store. Some of the parts he had seen he didn't have a clue what they were used for. That meant that Rosalie had decided to do some of her own modifications. Emmett wasn't opposed. Rosalie always added something cool and he couldn't wait for her to be done so he could show off the final product. WIth so many vampires there he would have a lot of jealous people he was sure.
"That said why don't I introduce you to the others who have responded to our call of aide."Carlisle suggested.
"We would appreciate that."Tanya already knew who was there. It would be good for her family to meet them as the Denali never had contact with any of them. The only link Tanya had with the group was through Collette who had met the Amazons. Isabella had her buy a large part of the rainforest for them to live in when the land went on sale. It wasn't for any other reason than Isabella had seen the small coven petition the kings for help when the area was overrun with logging and mining. The kings had used the situation as an excuse to force Zafrina into the guard in return for their help. Vampires being forced into guard the main thing Isabella was trying to stop from happening.
"Let's start with the Irish coven and Garrett."Carlisle let the Denali to two men and two women all with red eyes standing in the yard speaking to each other. Walking up to the group Carlisle spoke."Everyone this is the Denali Coven. Denali Coven this is the Irish coven. Siobhan their leader and sire to Maggie and her mate Liam. With them is Garrett who is a nomad."
"Nice to meet you. I'm Tanya the leader of the Denali Coven. These are my mate Rosalie, Irina and her mate Victoria, Carmen and her mate Eleazar, Anne and Kate."Tanya pointed out each member of her family as she introduced them.
"Pleasure to meet you. Am I to assume Kate and Anne are unmated?"Garrett asked.
"We are."Kate didn't like the look the man was giving her and her sister. She had a feeling he was going to be a problem and couldn't wait until she could put in him in his place.
"I see."Garrett was already making plans to speak to the two. Both were highly attractive and Garrett wouldn't mind having a little fun while they were waiting for the kings to show up. He wondered if they shared each other's beds and if they did if they let him join. He would bring it up to them later.
"As Carlisle said I am Siobhan and these are my mate Liam and Maggie. I have heard of your coven and am surprised we have never crossed paths before."Siobhan had heard many good things about the Denali. Especially from Carlisle and his coven mates. They held the coven in very high regards. Even the wolves spoke of them respectfully. Something Siobhan had noticed they had little of for the Cullens. Their supposed allies and friends.
"After we found Victoria and Anne in the 17th century we settled in Alaska and have not traveled much from our homestead."Tanya hadn't been able to interact with many covens because it wasn't safe. Tanya couldn't trust where other's loyalties lied and was worried about letting something slip and ruining everything they been working towards. It was even dangerous for her coven to be exposed to all of Tanya's knowledge of the future. It was just dumb luck that the Cullens hadn't caught on yet. Then again Tanya had trained each of her coven members to trick Edward's gift. It wasn't foolproof but it worked overall.
"Much is explained. We don't travel far from Ireland."Siobhan said.
"My sister Anne and I were born in Ireland."Victoria was very proud of that fact. It was the only thing she was proud of from her childhood.
"Is that right?"Maggie asked.
Victoria nodded."We don't have the exact dates of our birth but Tanya, Kate and Irina found us in the late 17th century in a small trading village called Dalkey."
"I don't believe I know that town."Liam said.
"Nor do I."Siobhan wasn't surprised though. During that time Irish towns changed names constantly.
"Still I think it's cool that you both are Irish."Maggie always loved to meet other Irish vampires. She, Siobhan and Liam took a lot pride in their home country.
"Once we meet everyone else we will have to speak of your home town in more detail."Siobhan wouldn't mind getting to know some of her fellow countrymen.
"I would like that."Victoria may not have good memories of the adults in her life because Tanya, Irina and Kate saved them but she had a love of Ireland. It could be just because that was where she met her mate or could be because it was where she was saved. Regardless living in Ireland had put her on the path of the life she lived.
"Good."Carlisle was pleased that his allies were getting along. He was unsure of the next pair but trusted Tanya enough to know she would not overreact."Let me introduce you to Stefan and Vladimir."
Feeling Rosalie squeeze her hand Tanya quickly schooled her features hearing who Carlisle was leading them to. Tanya had no love for the pair of vampires and was looking forward to killing them once the kings were taken care of. Isabella had told Tanya and Rosalie in one of her letters that the Romanians needed to be taken care of as soon as they finished with the Volturi because if they let them live the former kings would gather allies and start a devastating war against the new regime. That war would lead to countless innocent lives lost. Something that Tanya and her mates were not going to let happen."We look forward to meeting them."
"Stefan, Vladimir let me introduce you to my close friends the Denali Coven."Carlisle said when he walked up to the extremely pale pair of vampires that were standing in the tree line away from the group watching everything that was going on.
"It's a pleasure to meet you."Stefan and his brother had heard many things about the Denali. Especially how formable the group was. It was his and his brothers hope that they would be able to help them win against the Volturi. That being the only reason they had agreed to stay. They knew there was going to be a fight and with the gifted vampires gathered and the might of fighters they actually had a good chance of overthrowing the current kings. Then Stefan and Vladimir could step in and take the thrones for themselves and rule once more.
"You as well."Tanya didn't offer anything more to her greeting. The brothers weren't worth the effort to get to know.
Carlisle cleared his throat to break the tension between the groups. It was obvious that Tanya knew who the pair were and she didn't approve of them being there. Carlisle was just happy that she didn't voice her opinion on the matter."Why don't we speak to the Egyptians next."
"That's fine."Tanya easily agreed. She didn't want to be anywhere near the Romanians for fear she would kill them before it was time.
Carlisle next led the group of four vampires consisting of two men and two women. One the men looking distrustfully at the Denali as they approached."Amun, Benjamin, Kebi, Tia this is the Denali Coven and their leader Tanya."
"Hello."Benjamin greeted.
"Hello."Tanya replied. She didn't really have much of an opinion on the Egyptian coven. Isabella had mentioned that although Benjamin had a powerful gift his sire Amun was so paranoid of someone forcing the boy to leave their coven that he kept them completely isolated. It was that paranoia that made them no threat in the future.
"I heard that one of you controls electricity is that true?"Tia asked.
"I don't control electricity. I can make it manifest over my entire body causing an intense shock to anyone I touch or touches me."Kate explained.
"I am very interested in what it would be like to be electrocuted. The concept of electrical currents powering machines has always fascinated me. I would have experimented with it a long time ago it was it was safe."Tia had found the whole idea of objects working without any interference from a person completely mind blowing. She would have been more involved with it but held back because it was dangerous for a vampire to exposed to live wires. They could cause fires and fire was a vampires main advisory.
"I am more than willing to speak to you all about my gift."Kate never passed up a chance to electrocute someone. Willing participants were rare but usually more fun.
"Let me introduce you to the Amazons and you can do that."Carlisle said.
"She can wait."Tanya wasn't worried about Kate spending time with Tia. Isabella had mentioned that the pair would be good friends so Tanya wasn't afraid of Kate going too far and getting attacked. The only reason Tanya wasn't allowing it right away was because she wanted all of her coven to meet the Amazons as they had such a close tie to them that would be revealed after the big event.
"I'll be back soon."Kate promised.
"I look forward to it."Tia had already discussed speaking to Kate with Benjamin and her mate was in full support of her experimenting with the blond haired vampire's gift.
"Senna, Kachiri, Zafrina I would like you to meet The Denali Coven. Tanya is their leader. Denali Coven this is Senna, Kachiri and Zafrina the Amazon coven."Carlisle said.
"It's lovely to meet you."Tanya held out her hand for each of the women to shake getting looks of surprise from the trio and her own family. Shaking hands wasn't something vampires usually did as it left you open to attack if you were the one initiating it. Tanya doing so showed she trusted the Amazons.
Zafrina stared at the hand for a moment before decided that shaking it would be a good idea. She could feel the weight of not only her coven and the Denali's eyes on her but the other vampires that were gathered outside as well. The show of trust from Tanya was surprising but Zafrina had heard good things about the other woman's coven and wouldn't attack her."You as well."
"I heard you owned a large part of the rainforest. I was wondered if you would have time later to answer some of my questions about it?"Tanya asked.
That questioned surprised Zafrina almost as much as the handshake. It wasn't common knowledge that she and her sisters owned any land as they had not told anyone about Collette's purchase for them. That meant Tanya had to have talked to Collette. There was no other way for them to know."I see we have an acquaintance in common."
"We do. However as they are someone who likes to stay anonymous I am remiss of speaking about them in front of others."Tanya knew that she couldn't explain how she knew Colette to the Amazons but hoped name dropping her would be a way to start a friendship.
"Who would that be?"Carlisle was very curious about any shared friend of the Denali and Amazon as both covens were quite isolated. Carlisle didn't think either coven had any other friends than him and his family.
"As Tanya said that person wouldn't want others to know about them. However Tanya I would be happy to speak to you later without so many ears around."Zafrina knew that if Tanya knew Colette than the coven leader could be trusted. Colette like Tanya said didn't like people knowing who she was so if Tanya knew her that meant that Tanya was someone who the Amazon coven would like to associate with.
"Thank you. It isn't often I get to speak to others about their exploits and would love to trade any current news."Tanya got mentions of Colette every now and then but not as many as Tanya would have liked. She may have only met Isabella's mother once but worried about her. She was all alone in the world doing dangerous work trying to gain alliances with various groups and preventing disasters from happening.
"We would as well."Zafrina said.
"I'll get Rosalie settled and come back. Maybe we could take a walk through the forest."Tanya suggested.
"We will be here when you are ready."Zafrina told her.
"Thank you."Tanya pulled on Rosalie's hand and led her towards the garage. She was unsurprised when her coven followed them.
"Tanya who do know that is friends with Amazons?"Kate asked.
"Yeah I thought we knew all your friends."Irina had never seen Tanya interact with anyone unfamiliar.
"Is this the person you get all your information from?"Anne figured that the mystery person was Tanya's source of information.
Tanya shook her head."I met this person long before we met you and Victoria. I haven't talk to them since but know they helped out the Amazons a little over a century ago. As for where I get my information it isn't from them."
"I have so many questions."Kate mumbled.
"Well I'm not answering any of them. There are way too many people around and Edward is going to be constantly scanning everyone's mind for information. Even with your precautions I'm not wiling to chance him knowing."Tanya told them.
"Is this any other thing you are going to explain in a month?"Carmen asked.
"Yes, you will find out all about them when I reveal everything else."Tanya was getting more and more nervous about that happening as the days passed. Initially she had been looking forward to it but as the big event got closer her fear of her family hated her for lying to them for so long was growing.
Anne huffed."I hate that we have to wait."
"It's all because of Edward."Rosalie would have told the coven everything as soon as she found out but it wasn't safe with Edward around. Aro could have read it from his mind. That and the boy wasn't trustworthy enough to keep a secret.
"You know that just makes me hate him even more right?"Finding out that mind reader was why they were kept in the dark for so long pissed Kate off. It guaranteed that Kate was going to do all she could to get a chance to kill him.
"Regardless will one of you stay with Rose so she isn't bothered?"Tanya would usually be the one to do it but she wanted to talk to Zafrina.
"I will."Carmen wanted a minute to catch her breath after meeting so many people. She unlike Eleazar didn't live in the castle for very long and wasn't used to being around a crowd. It was a little overwhelming.
"Thank you."Rosalie didn't want to be left alone with so many unfamiliar people. Especially the unmated ones. Garrett made her uncomfortable with the looks he was giving her. She didn't know if he would actually be stupid enough to approach her but Rosalie didn't want to take the chance of him catching her alone.
"With that said. Sweetheart I will be back after I speak to the Amazons."Tanya gave Rosalie a gentle kiss."If you need anything come find me or have someone find me for you."
"We will be close by."Irina knew of Rosalie's anxiety and she along with the rest of the family were very good at running interference. There was nothing any of them hated more than to see Rosalie panic when she when someone tried to approach her. Especially when she was by herself. That was why they had a policy of at least one member of the family always staying with Rosalie when they were around others. Not that any of them blamed Rosalie for her reactions. Based on the way she grew up and the way people treated her she was more than justified for wanting to avoid everyone. Even mated vampires weren't immune to Rosalie's beauty and it had caused many fights between couples because of the reactions of those effected.
"Still I won't be long."Tanya told her.
"Carmen will be with me."Rosalie wasn't too worried. Carmen wouldn't put up with anything. She was the most protective of Rosalie out of the family other than Tanya of course. She also considered all of them her children and Rosalie being the baby of the family caused her to go mother bear on anyone who even looked in Rosalie's direction.
"I'll protect her."Carmen understood Tanya's worry because they were around so many unknown vampires. It didn't matter though. Carmen wasn't going to let anyone even approach Rosalie let alone speak to her.
"Alright. Everyone else behave. We are here for a common cause let's not break alliances before they are even formed."Tanya waited until she got some kind of agreement from each of her family members before going to find the Amazons. She didn't think that anything would happen. At least Isabella hadn't warned Tanya and Rosalie of anything happening. Then again she could have been distracted and if she did find anything out she wouldn't have been able to warn them. There was no safe way to meet up with Jane now that they were around so many others. Tanya shook off the concern. Isabella wouldn't miss a threat to their family. Tanya wasn't a hundred percent sure how Isabella's gift worked but did know that the blind vampire could control it. That likely meant that she went over everything that would happen with the Denali mixing with all these different vampires. Isabella wouldn't leave their safety to chance. Not after sacrificing her entire life to keep them safe. That meant things would go well. The only problem Tanya could see was if Edward started something but she had already told her coven that they weren't allowed to kill. Fight him yes, Kill him no. That couldn't happen until the big event was over. Tanya smiled just thinking about it. The boy had been nothing but a pain in the ass and Tanya was looking forward to the day she would finally get to end him. If she was feeling generous she may even let her family help out. It would all depend on how pissed she was at the time. However she could use it as a way to get forgiveness for all the lies. Tanya would think about it later. Now she wanted to find out about how her mother in law was doing. Hopefully the Amazons had some good news to tell her.
