Summary: While enjoying the night in the city, the Lotus Ninjas are hunted by a lizard yokai.
In the Crete Fortress, Ellie lifted her glowing orange hands at three bowls of ramen noodles and telekinetically levitated them over to the dining table. Lee looked at the ramen bowl with a smile while Ella was listening to her rock music playlist on her mp3 player at the dining table. But the amazing smell of the ramen drifted through Ella's nose, prompting her to look at the ramen bowl with a smile.
"Ramen's on tonight, ladies!" Ellie spoke.
"Thanks, Ellie." Lee smiled.
Ellie, Lee, and Ella started slurping their noodles.
Then, a white lizard with yellow eyes crawled onto the dining table. Lee and Ellie kept eating their ramen without detecting the lizard, who was moving straight to Ella. As Ella was about to put some ramen noodles in her mouth, she stopped to stare at the lizard casually sitting on her fork.
Ella jumped back with a scream, flinging the lizard back to the counter.
"Ella, what's wrong?" Lee asked as she and Ellie stopped eating and looked up at Ella.
"A lizard!" Ella yelled. She pointed her finger at the lizard with wide eyes. "Right there!"
Ella engulfed both fists into blazing flames.
Lee and Ellie pulled their ramen noodles off the table. They quickly moved aside from the dining table, knowing exactly what Ella was about to do.
Ella began firing small-sized fireballs wildly at the lizard, who started to scurry off the table. But that doesn't stop Ella from chasing after the creature for a fire-based strike.
Donna suddenly rushed into the kitchen. Her eyes caught the sight of the crawling lizard. She held her hand to the floor, allowing the lizard to crawl onto her palms.
"Ella, stop! You can't burn the lizard!" Donna shouted as she covered the lizard protectively.
"And why not?" Ella snapped as she ran up to Donna.
"Because this lizard is Ekron." Donna replied.
"And why is he important to our mission, Donna?" Lee sighed.
Lee and Ella looked bewildered.
"Ekron?!" Ellie exclaimed with astonishment.
As Donna opened her hand, Ekron shapeshifted into his regular form and flew straight into Ellie's arms.
"Oh, Ekron." Ellie said as she hugged Ekron. "Ella's sorry. She didn't mean to attack you."
"Yeah, sorry about that." Ella apologized.
"And why was Ekron a lizard, Donna?" Lee asked Donna.
"Because I was working on a new spell and potion in the lab, and Ekron happened to transform into a lizard when he was looking at an animal diagram." Donna responded. "It's amazing. Who knew he could shapeshift."
Ellie laughed out loud.
"Then, that was a good one, Ekron!" Ellie said to Ekron. "You totally scared the jeepers out of Ella!"
Lee and Donna silently giggled while covering their mouths. But Ella only glared at Ellie.
"He did not!" Ella protested.
Ekron got scared and quickly flew behind Ellie.
"Oh, puh-lease." Ellie smirked, crossing her arms over her chest. "Big, tough Ella is scared of lizards."
"I don't do fear, Ellie." Ella retorted.
Ella seized Ellie by the arms and threw her over the table.
"Uh…how about we have a girl's night out?" Donna suggested.
"I'm down." Lee said.
Outside, a large cobalt blue lizard slithered on the alley wall in the shadows. He has a large, muscular body with black camo-esque spots all over his body, four-fingered hands, three toes on his frog-like feet, and a long tail. He also has a blue triangular eye on the left and a red triangular eye on the right, and a wide mouth with sharp teeth. He wore purple pants and white gauze around his waist.
"Tonight is definitely not my night." The lizard yokai spoke in a bored tone. "The Tokages have been extracting fear out of humans for centuries. And yet, nothing. I might as well call it quits."
Suddenly, the lizard yokai took a sniff as he was starting to pick up four magical scents.
"Or maybe not." The lizard yokai said. "Looks like this night might be worth my time, after all."
Meanwhile, the Sonicruiser was driving smoothly on the road.
"So, what do you girls wanna do tonight?" Lee asked.
"How about the arcade center?" Ellie suggested.
"We always go there. Plus, we've already beaten every high score there." Donna said. "How about the mall?"
"We went there two days ago." Ella said. "How about a movie?"
"Nah, we just saw that new sci-fi mecha movie yesterday. I was thinking about singing karaoke." Lee said. "Is that okay with you?"
"Sounds good." Ellie, Donna, and Ella agreed.
Then suddenly, the Sonicruiser went over a large bump that made Donna, Ella, and Ellie bump their heads to the ceiling while Lee halted the vehicle.
"What the heck was that?" Ella asked.
The Lotus Ninjas climbed out of the Sonicruiser. Their eyes caught the sight of an unconscious creature lying on the ground in the alleyway. They ran over to check on the creature that was revealed to be a lizard yokai.
"Okay, that's gross." Lee said in disgust.
With wide, shocking eyes, Ella fell backwards and passed out to the ground.
Donna knelt close and examined the yokai.
"Oh my. I can't believe what I'm seeing." Donna said, looking at the lizard yokai's limbs and eyes. "It's a Tokage!"
"Tokage?" Lee and Ellie repeated in confusion.
"They are yokais that look like lizards." Donna answered.
"Say what?!" Ella shouted as she immediately got back up on her feet from the ground.
"I've read the files from the yokai data I've collected." Donna explained with wide eyes as she continued examining the unconscious Tokage. "This creature's ability is almost exactly like Baku's. Except when Baku drains life force through dreams, Tokage only absorbs..."
"Nice explanation, Donna." Ella said quickly as she stood towards the opening backseat door of the Sonicruiser. "If anyone needs me, I'll be in the car."
Ella jumped inside the backseat, but she got pulled back to her sisters when Ellie wrapped her around in a concentrated rope made of air energy.
"Oh, calm down, Ella." Ellie said. "The creature is stiff anyway. It's not like it's gonna get up and come after us."
"Uh, about that!" Donna shouted.
Lee, Ellie, and Ella turned around to see the Tokage pinning Donna to the ground with one foot while standing up.
"Well, today's my lucky day. Instead of humans, I picked up the scent of four mystics." The Tokage spoke. His triangular eyes scanned at the three mystics until they immediately locked on the wide-eyed Ella, making him grow a wicked smile on his face. "And that scent is coming from you."
Tokage tossed Donna aside and began stalking towards the other mystics. Lee and Ellie charged forward, but Ella stood frozen until she quickly turned around and hopped inside the Sonicruiser.
Lee, Donna, and Ellie charged forward, attacking the Tokage with their elemental magic. But the Tokage continued walking forward while withstanding the magic-based attacks.
"This lizard's tough!" Lee exclaimed.
"Well, Tokages are known to take a great amount of physical pain!" Donna shouted.
"Then, we're gonna need some brute strength!" Ellie yelled. She looked around to notice that Ella isn't with her and the others. "But where's Ella?"
Suddenly, the Sonicruiser turned itself towards the mystic and the lizard yokai. Inside, Ella wore visor sunglasses and prepared the retractable sonic cannon that was mounted on top of the vehicle.
"Leave my sisters alone, freak!" Ella shouted fiercely.
Ella fired a large green energy beam of sound waves from the sonic cannon. Lee, Donna, and Ellie quickly dodged out of the way, which led the energy beam to hit the Tokage directly. The Tokage was sent flying to the dead-end wall and fell hard to the ground, leaving him out like a light.
"That would do." Donna said.
Ella opened the door and got out of the car.
"Did I get him?" Ella asked.
"Yes, you did, Ella." Lee said. She, Donna, and Ellie walked back to the Sonicruiser. "Now, let's contain this thing, so we can head on out to karaoke."
"Lee's right. The sooner, the better." Ella said.
"Admit it, Ella. You just wanna get away from that yokai." Ellie smiled, pointing an accusing finger at Ella.
"Make yourself useful and make a chain, so you can tie it up." Ella snapped as she smacked Ellie at the back of her head.
"Uh, that would be a problem." Ellie said, pointing her finger forward with wide eyes.
Ella followed Ellie's finger and saw that the Tokage was gone.
"Oh, no. It's gone!" Ella exclaimed in fear.
"Come on. We're gonna track him down." Lee said.
"Wait, what?!" Ella cried.
"Oh, suck it up and let's go." Ellie said, pushing Ella into the Sonicruiser.
When the Sonicruiser drove out of the alleyway and into the road, the Tokage stood on the edge of a building rooftop with a wicked grin.
An hour and half later, the Sonicruiser arrived and pulled to an abandoned warehouse. Lee got out of the vehicle. Ellie opened the door and she, Donna, and Ella hopped out.
"Uh, Lee, what are we doing here?" Ellie asked.
"Because he's coming." Lee replied.
"Uh, who's coming?" Donna questioned.
Suddenly, the Tokage landed on the ground and started cracking his neck side to side.
"Him." Lee said. "I managed to sense his aura on the road, so I led them here to finish what we've started."
The Tokage's eyes watched Ella taking slow steps behind her sisters.
"Let's take him down, girls." Lee said.
"Um, Lee, bad news, Lee. Ella's in panic mode right now." Donna said as she glanced at her older sister behind her.
Lee and Ellie turned around to see Ella sitting against the wall with a frightened expression.
"Ekron, carry Ella to the Sonicruiser." Ellie said.
Ekron soared out of the Sonicruiser. He flew over and wrapped his energized tentacles around Ella before dragging the frightened mystic kunoichi back inside the vehicle.
"You brought Ekron?" Donna asked.
"I thought he might be a great adversary." Ellie replied.
"He can take care of Ella while we'll handle this yokai." Lee said.
Lee, Ellie, and Donna charged forward and began fighting against the Tokage with their elemental magic. But the Tokage was proven to be strong for them to handle. While Donna and Ellie were knocked away, Lee manipulated the ocean water nearby, sending two streams of water to grab the Tokage's waist and turning them into shackles. She sent out chains made of solid water wrapping around the yokai's arms and legs. The Tokage groaned in irritation as he was struggling to break free. Donna and Ellie watched as Lee started pulling the yokai into the dock and chained him around on the ground.
"Nice one, sis!" Ellie exclaimed as she and Donna ran back to Lee.
"Come on. Let's head out." Lee said.
Donna, Ellie, and Lee ran into the Sonicruiser just before Lee drove off to the streets.
At the dock, the Tokage swung his tail around and broke himself free from the water chains. He stood up on his feet and turned his head to the driving Sonicruiser, narrowing his eyes with a sinister smile.
Inside the Sonicruiser, Ella patted the sleeping Ekron on her lap. Lee, Ellie, and Donna looked at the silent sister before exchanging worried faces.
With a nod, Ellie broke the silence.
"Hey, Ella. How about you take your first turn on karaoke?" Ellie asked, leaning forward next to her older sister's face.
"Yeah, sure." Ella said lowly.
Ella handed Ekron over to Ellie and looked at the window with her arms crossed over her chest.
"I have a list of songs we can sing together or individually." Donna said as she pulled up a browsing list of music albums on the screen.
"Oh, I call dibs on pop songs." Ellie said eagerly.
"I'll give hip hop a try." Lee said with a smile.
Suddenly, something slammed on top of the Sonicruiser that made Lee pull the vehicle into an alleyway.
"What the heck was that?" Ellie asked.
"Give me a sec." Lee said. She closed her eyes and detected a familiar aura when she opened her eyes. "Uh no. Girls, the Tokage's back."
"What?!" Ella screamed. "He's here!"
"And he's on top of the car." Lee added.
"He's on top of the car? He's on top of the car!" Ella shouted frantically as she quickly got out of her seat and jumped onto Ellie's arms.
"This is getting ridiculous! How does he keep finding us?" Ellie cried in frustration.
"According to the yokai files, Tokages are yokais that look exactly like lizards, but bigger and stronger than average." Donna explained.
"But that doesn't explain why he's been chasing us?" Ella said.
"Like I said before I was interrupted earlier." Donna said as she looked at Ella with a firm face. She then put on a calm expression. "While Baku absorbs life force through dreams, Tokages absorb fear to empower themselves. And all this time, he's been after you."
Ella's eyes widened in shock.
"Oh…crud." Ella said slowly with a deadpan look.
"So, you were afraid of lizards this whole time. Wow, that sucks." Ellie teased with a grin.
"Shut up." Ella snapped as she hit Ellie in the head with her fist.
"Alright then." Lee said. "We need to take this Tokage down with everything we got."
"We will?" Ella asked in confusion.
"Yes, Ella. We will." Lee said, leaning her stern face to Ella's face. She looked at Donna. "Donna, stay inside in case we need backup. Ellie, carry Ella and let's go."
Lee hopped out of the Sonicruiser. Ellie walked out of the vehicle while still carrying the cowering Ella in her arms.
"Hey, Tokage!" Lee called out. "We've got Ella right here! She's all yours!"
"Wait a minute! Are you seriously using me as bait?" Ella exclaimed.
"Yep." Lee replied.
Suddenly, Tokage came out from underneath the Sonicruiser and began stalking towards the Lotus Ninjas with a wicked smile.
"Finally." The Tokage said.
Lee and Ellie ran away and turned to a nearby corner while dragging the screaming Ella all the way. The Tokage followed after them and found Ella yelling in alarm all alone.
"Your fear is mine now." The Tokage said.
As the Tokage began approaching Ella, Ellie and Lee jumped down out of nowhere. They seized the lizard yokai with magic energized chains, but the Tokage knocked Lee and Ellie away to the wall with his tail.
When the Tokage turned back to Ella, Ella immediately jumped on her feet and ran away while screaming in terror. She began firing fireballs at the Tokage, who swiftly evaded them one by one.
Then, Ella made a turn to a dead end and looked around for a way to escape, but she couldn't. Ella quickly turned around just in time to see the Tokage stomping towards her with fearful eyes.
"No wonder to go, mystic girl." The Tokage said. "Now, surrender your fear to me."
Ella shakily created a large fireball between her hands and fired it straight to the ground, encircling the Tokage in a ring of flames. She propelled herself to the rooftop with streams of fire under her boots and escaped. The Tokage hissed dangerously in anger.
Ella finally made her way back to the Sonicruiser, where Lee and Ellie were recovering.
"Ella! Thank goodness you're okay." Ellie said.
"But where's the Tokage?" Lee asked.
"He's in the alley nearby. I trapped him with my flames." Ella replied. "But it's not gonna hold him long. We gotta move."
Ella, Lee, and Ellie hopped into the vehicle.
"Donna, what's the status?" Lee asked as she sat on the driver's seat.
"All fixed. The Sonicruiser is good to go." Donna said.
Lee started the engine and drove the Sonicruiser to the streets. But the Tokage began slithering across the rooftops to catch up to the vehicle. Ellie caught the lizard yokai on the screen.
"Uh, guys? Guess who's back." Ellie said.
"Are you kidding me?" Ella said angrily. She put on a determined face. "That's it! Donna, get your yokai cage ready. I'm going after him."
"Ella, you don't have to do this just to prove you're not afraid." Lee protested.
"I am afraid. That's why I have to do it." Ella admitted. "If I'm gonna move on, I have to conquer it."
"Before you go, open the hatch." Donna said. "I was saving it just for you."
Ella moved from her seat and opened the hatch to look at a black futuristic two-wheeled motorcycle.
"It's gorgeous." Ella smiled. "You rock, Donna."
"I know." Donna grinned.
Ella jumped in and closed the hatch. She sat on the black motorcycle. Donna pressed a glowing green button to eject the motorcycle, which Ella drove off at fast speed.
As the Tokage caught Ella in his sights, he jumped down on the street and slithered after her.
"Hey, yokai!" Ella shouted. "Catch me if you can!"
Ella revved her motorcycle and drove off. The Tokage pursued after Ella, unaware that the Sonicruiser was driving after him from behind.
Ella revved her motorcycle and drove back to the docks, where she parked her motorcycle near the building and jumped off onto the pier just as the Tokage stood towards her.
"Nowhere to run now." The Tokage said sinisterly.
"Who says anything about running?" Ella said, cracking her neck in preparation.
Ella unleashed a rapid barrage of fireballs that hit the Tokage upon contact in high and low directions. The Tokage narrowed his eyes with a hiss before charging forward.
Before the Tokage can strike with his claws, Ella delivered a barrage of vertical spinning flaming kicks that knocked the lizard yokai while rising in the air. She then jammed her boot to the Tokage's back and slammed him down onto the ground with a violent axe kick.
"B-but…how? You were afraid of me." The Tokage said weakly. "I was smelling your fear continuously. How were you able to get rid of it?"
"Simple." Ella said. "It's called sucking up."
With that, Ella knocked the Tokage out with one punch.
Back in the Crete Fortress, the Lotus Ninjas relaxed in the living room while taking a sip of soda.
"Ella, you faced your fear and took down the Tokage." Lee said with a smile. "I'm proud of you, sis."
"Face my fear? Please, I conquered it!" Ella scoffed with a smile.
Donna and Ellie exchanged smirks. Ellie moved close to Ella.
"So, you're not afraid of lizards anymore?" Ellie asked.
"Nope." Ella said with a smile.
"Good, good. So, that means you don't mind letting the lizard rest in your hair." Ellie mused.
Ella's eyes widened in shock. She jumped off the couch and screamed frantically as she ran off around the living room, making her sisters erupt in shrieks of laughter.
