For a moment John was surprised to see Elena again—he hadn't expected ever to run into her, since he had left Baltimore. His mind was trying to fully register the fact that she was now in front of him. He couldn't take his eyes off of her as she entered the room.

"So, it seems they were right when they said you'd gone to live in the big apple." Cheekily, she smiles at him, and it had been a long time since they'd last seen each other.

The two of them had been friends for years before being lovers to now being ex-lovers, so it was unusual to see Elena in this new light—and it made John feel more than a little uncomfortable.

"Hi, Elena. How are you? It's been a long time since I've seen you."

"I'm fine," she said. It's good to see you too, John. Sorry, I got a little excited—she crossed her arms and looked at the floor as if embarrassed by calling him Munchkin remembering they aren't as close to each other as they used to be. "I'm sorry," she said, looking up at him. "I shouldn't have called you that—it's"

Captain Cragen realized that the two detectives seemed uncomfortable with each other. He decided to break the ice. I notice that both of you have already been introduced," Captain Cragen inquires. Elena and John direct their focus toward the captain.

"Yes, we used to work on homicide cases together," Yang responds, with a hint of tension starting to fill the room.

"Anyway, it seems like we're going to be working together again," Yang looks over and says, "Looks like I should grab my things to head out." she points towards the door, eagerly awaiting the go-ahead from the captain.

The Captain allows her to leave. John watches intently as she exits the office, his eyes fixed on her every move.

Donald leans in, a concerned look on his face. "Is she going to cause trouble between Jefferies and Stabler? I can't afford for my headache to turn into a migraine," he muses aloud. Captain Cragen interrupts his thoughts, prompting John to tear his gaze away from the door and refocus on him

"No," he exclaimed, before striding out of the office. As he made his way, his eyes met Jeffries', who was eagerly seeking reassurance that Captain Cragen would allow her to accompany him on the case they were working on. Noticing her expectant gaze, he frowned, shook his head, and gestured towards Elena, who was swiftly retrieving her coat from her chair.

Monique locks eyes with him before her gaze shifts towards Elena, a disapproving smirk playing on her lips. She lets out a sigh and leans her head on her hand.

"Munch is already heading towards the entrance, ready to go Yang?' He says

"Yeah," she sprints up next to him, and together they make their way around the corner, heading towards the elevators.

"So, where are we going?" Yang asks, glancing at John as they patiently wait for the elevator doors to open.

"The Radial Velocity," he replies cryptically, as the two of them step into the elevator.
