Chapter 30: The Ninjala Tournament Preliminary Stage! (Part 5)
On Friday...
Same thing as the past 4 days but this time, it's the last.
"Yeah! Block 19 is where I will steal the win and show you all that I'm the best!" Davis cheered.
"I'm actually in there too just to let you know." Yamikage reminded him.
"Give it your best guys!" Kappei encouraged them.
"You said it mate! I hope I can get the chance to battle you again! We tied last time at the Kendo Club." Davis brought up.
"On the other hand, I also want to get this chance to battle you!" Yamikage declared as he and Davis smirked at each other. Only one will get the honour to battle Kappei since they respect him for his leadership and awakened power.
Preliminaries...
In Block 17, Ting Ting and Hank are in there and the match just started. Hank had the advantage as all the obstacles he touched glowed and, "IOOM!"
Lots of ruptures imploding around the area and this caused area of effect damage and 10 students were blown out of the arena. "Nice one. Now it's my turn to blow something up!" A student from Class 1-E took action as he suddenly imbued Kinetic Energy into his Iaito, raised it up with the tip pointing the ground and, "Kinetic Impact!"
He struck it and, "BWOOM!"
A powerful kinetic wave spread out and knocked everyone out of the arena. Only Ting Ting blocked it but took damage so she created a red heart through her power and healed herself. "Much better. Let's finish this!" She clashed with the kinetic student for a while but, "Victory is mine! Kinetic Wave!" He slashed out a purple energy wave and Ting Ting is defeated and he took the win.
In Block 18, Joey got his power activated and being shielded by his own power, battle damage is deemed useless as he managed to eliminate 2 students in a single attack. However, a female student used Electrocution behind him even bypassing his personal energy shield as she stealthy snuck behind him, phased her hand through his personal energy shield and, "BZZZZZK!"
Joey is out and after a while, she won the match.
Now Block 19 is next as Davis, Yamikage and the other 13 students made their way in. "How peculiar...among the other participants, those 2 girls which are twins have quivers and arrows behind them..." Yamikage observed.
Once all are in position, "The second last block is on it's way! We have the Master of Shadows, Yamikage! Beside him is the Kendo Ace and a pro in being the best, Davis! Yup, both are from Class 1-A!" Coach Spruce introduced.
Davis smiled confidently while Yamikage took a bow.
"Over there those girls are twins and known to be the Ninja Archers, Aretha and Athena!" He introduced and the twins are seen with long, wavy sea green hair. To identify them, Aretha has a hairclip on her bangs located on the left while Athena has a hairclip on her bangs located on the right.
"Ninja Archers? That means..." Yamikage can sense it as, "Ninjas! Draw your blades!" Coach Spruce ordered and they got ready.
"Ready...BATTLE!"
Taking action, Yamikage hid inside a shadow while Davis created a photon blade. "Come and get me if you dare!"
"Oh I do!" A tall and buff male student spawned 2 extra arms and he charged to him. Swinging his weapons, Davis waited and delivered twin strikes onto him as he fell down. He then jumped onto the inner section and engaged 2 students.
Down there, "Shadow Ambush!" Yamikage delivered the first elimination as he jumped out of a shadow of a small rock obstacle and kicked a student off the arena. And then, "TWANG! TWANG!"
2 arrows flew towards him but he deflected them. "As I thought..."
On 2 of the towering platforms, Aretha and Athena are in position on each of them and they have a Great Bow each. "Just like the sniper, they can summon weapons at their own will." He observed and the twins fired an arrow and they hit a student exploding and sending them out each. "Trick arrows..." He observed some more and decided to make his move.
On the inner section, Davis engaged the same 2 students as one spun into a Tornado and the other one sprouted Quills on his body as they attacked. "Photon Slash!" He slashed out the quill student slicing off the sprouted quills into half as he crashed through the grid wall and is out. The tornado one spun close and tried to strike him but he blocked it and his photon blade flashed out a blinding light. "SHING!"
"What the? My sight is distorted or something..." And before he could do anything, "KSH!"
"Sorry but I booted you out! Now who's next?" Davis is really enjoying a good fight and above, "Looks like many targets are out." Aretha told her sister. "Good. Focus on that one!" Athena told her and they readied their bows and started firing their trick arrows.
Noticing them, "You should have come up close and personal to defeat me!" Davis called out and easily blocked them. "I wonder...where's Yamikage?"
All of a sudden, "Here I am!" Coming out of a shadow and running on the grid walls, he charged head on to the twins and they noticed him. Nodding at each other, they focus fire on him as he deflected all their trick arrows. "They fire real quick but not for long!" Suddenly, he threw his Iaito and, "KSH!"
"Aretha!" Athena exclaimed as her sister took a hit and fell off the towering platform as Yamikage swiftly got his weapon and threw it at her. "KSH!"
The twins fell but Davis saved them both and threw them onto the field. "I sure know how to be a gentleman to the ladies." He boasted with a flashy smile as he returned to the inner section and there, Yamikage is waiting. "All that's left is us."
"We both know what needs to be done mate. And I ain't holding back!"
They charged and clashed with 3 minutes left. "Oh boy! This sure is a hot battle! 2 powerful ninjas ain't giving an inch as they battle it all out! No holding back! YEAH!" Coach Spruce is so loud and excited that Sensei Tatsu and Sensei Tomoko covered their ears.
One minute had passed and they still have energy to fight on. "As expected, your years of doing kendo and being a 10-time winner in Australia pays off." Yamikage commended.
"And you, being from the ninja clan that regards the darkness and shadows as allies is something!" Davis commended also as they shouted out their battle cries and clashed again.
One minute later and both have exhausted themselves. "One last...strike...to end this match!" They thought as they charged towards each other and, "SHING!"
Unexpectedly during the attack, Davis switched his weapon wielding it into a reverse grip stance and struck him accurately. That attack was also powerful enough to send him out of the inner section and onto the arena floor. "Ugh..." Knowing that he has lost, he got up, walked slowly and dropped out of the arena.
"Yamikage fought a good fight despite being defeated and volunteering to drop out of the match! With that, Davis wins it!" Coach Spruce announced as, "YEAH! I WON IT!" Davis yelled his loudest and with happiness as it cuts to class with the Class 1-A students applauding. Truly an honourable match between their classmates.
And last but not least, Block 20 and Kurt is in it. Easily, he activated his powers and magnetized all the Iaitos as they're pulled towards him. "Ha! Ha! Ha! This is gonna be easy as pie!"
"GET HIM!" All ganged up on Kurt but used all the Iaitos to guard himself and as the weapons spin around him, all backed away as Kurt got ready for a counterattack. However, a student slammed the ground with his fist and, "Something is rumbling below me..." Kurt looked down, "BOOM!"
A hole opened below him followed by a fist made out of earth that punched him up in the sky and a while later, he landed on the field defeated. With that, everyone got their weapons back and proceed to fight each other. This went on until the same student that defeated Kurt won the match and not to mention, his awakened power is Geokinesis.
"And that's it for the week! All 20 blocks cleared and each has a winner! Next up is the Elite stage which will take effect next Monday! Rest up and we'll see you all again!" Coach Spruce announced and that concludes the Preliminary Stage.
In the principal's office...
"So Ivanna, these are the 20 students that will advance to the elite stage?"
"Yes Marshall. At least one student from all the 10 freshmen classes all made an astounding achievement to make the advancement."
"Marvelous. We now look forward to the Elite Stage. The weekend will refresh them and once they're ready. Action time!" Principal Bingram stated as he checked on some paperwork while Vice-Principal McKenna left to do her own work.
That night...
Kappei and Emma are hanging out together in Emma's dorm as they watched a movie which is "Dune Part 1'. Oh, Gumchi is also there watching the movie. In the middle of it, a video call was sounded.
"Sorry about that." Emma apologized as she paused the movie and answered it. "Hello Emma!"
"Ms Warren!" She exclaimed as Kappei and Gumchi waved at her.
"I heard you and Kappei won the preliminaries! Great effort out there!" Laura told them.
"How did you know?" Kappei asked.
"In all the 20 blocks, they're being recorded and sometimes at the WNA, we can get access to the battles. So far, I have observed both your battles and it was an incredible effort from both of you." Laura explained. "Especially yours Kappei. You're soon gonna become a rising star in this school."
He just chuckled sheepishly when suddenly, "Now I wonder, what are the 2 of you doing together in this room?" Laura asked with a smirk.
"Uh..." They didn't expect that as, "We were just watching a movie together." Emma answered with Kappei nodding his head.
"Okay I'll take your word for it. And Kappei whatever you do, try not to be so 'naughty' when you're around Emma." Laura reminded him and this made both teens flustered as she laughed a bit.
"Hee! Hee! Hee! Kappee, Naughtee! Naughtee!" Gumchi teased Kappei as, "It's not what you think it is!" He scolded him while still feeling flustered but he just kept laughing.
On the other hand, "Well I gotta go. I'll see you all again somebody. Lovebirds." Laura teased them again and ended the video call.
"Never thought she'll say that...oh this is too embarrassing for us..." Emma sighed about it as she resumed the movie with Kappei sitting beside her and Gumchi sitting in front of the computer. Nothing else awkward happened for the rest of the night and everything has quietened down also. That's it.
The Preliminary Stage is done! Next up is the Elite Stage and it'll commence after a weekend of rest. There were awesome matches, honourable sparring and impressive sportmanship. Not to mentioned the many awakened powers displayed during the matches.
Oh boy...it's getting near...I can feel it! But anyway, I gotta set my focus right and I'll see you in the next chapter!
