| Percy's Home

And those Amazons too. It was 2002, so Hylla couldn't have been the leader—which he only realised after the debacle when he had learned what year it was from that drunken stranger—but they seemed different.

Some things clearly weren't adding up. But, tonight wasn't the time to worry about it, he'd leave the questions he had in mind for tomorrow's Percy to concern himself with.

For now, he just needed to wait. He'd earn enough money by working at Gotham Academy and once the time came, he would then find a way back to his time — back to where he belonged. He'd make sure of it.

With that thought in mind, Percy finally got some shut eye.

Chapter 2

| January 20, 2003 - 5 Months Later

| Gotham Academy

The barely audible voices of students and teachers alike resonated in his ears, their words and sentences coming out muffled through the walls. The sound of his shoes hitting the floor with each step, it would've been indiscernible were he not walking alone, but it was not a bother all the same. Taking notice of the little things and the tranquil silence that engulfed the hallway gave Percy the peace of mind to think.

'Today is the day.' He thought with a steely determination etched onto his face as his lips curled upwards into an eager grin.

It had been five months since his employment at the esteemed Gotham City Academy and he was doing relatively well much to his surprise, mostly at himself for being able to pick up being a teacher fairly quick. It wasn't easy though. Having to study daily to keep up with the program so he wouldn't make a fool of himself and to be able to control his students.

On the prospect of his students…they were more different than he'd imagined, but that didn't mean they were any easier to manage because at the end of the day, no matter how they were raised as children, they were all still fairly immature, hormonal and oftentimes angsty teenagers.

As expected of them, being part of the upper class of society, they acted polite, sophisticated and had gravitas. But that only accounted for their better moments. If they weren't answering examinations, performing practical tests, being seen by their parents or accomplishing any kind of task of equal importance, his students would turn into the bane of his existence.

They weren't rowdy or chaotic enough to run around like little children, making a mess out of their surroundings but if he or any other teacher weren't present, they were sure to create trouble or even start fights. Some students also made it a habit to undermine teachers' authorities.

Even with other personnel around, there were instances where students would arrogantly assume that threatening the teachers with the names of their parents and their big companies would make them turn a blind eye to their unseemly behaviour or cause them to back down.

Percy had noticed during his first days working as a teacher and still does to this day that it was effective on most of the staff. When he came along, these kids hadn't gotten to know him yet, but they eventually did and he made sure to engrave into each and every one of his students' minds that he wouldn't cower in front of them just because of their wealth.

That had solved one of his problems and made them a little more obedient and respectable to their teachers but when had children ever known when to give up? He was like them once upon a time so he expected them to still continue on with their childish antics even if they weren't threatening teachers anymore.

Percy chuckled.

Regardless of the stress and annoyance they inflicted upon him, he found himself being overly fond of all his students, having taken his time to connect with all of them as much as he could when he was given the chance to. While some he was still warming up to, he was sure he would be able to get them out of their shells someday.

The thought of the kids who he saw as like his younger siblings (since he was too young to be a father) brought a smile to his face.

He was gonna miss them when he left. For today was the day he'd finally be setting out to find his way back home.

Indeed, he was certainly going to miss them and the friends he had made in Gotham Academy.

Their names echoed in his mind. Ralph, a great friend he saw as a brother of sorts, they were a mischievous duo; he could easily recall all the trouble they were able to make and all the distress they were able to bring upon their colleagues who they annoyed frequently.

He and Kate were quite the duo themselves as well. She had the charisma and beauty of a child of Aphrodite, but she also shared many similarities with him in being rebellious and brave-spirited. They were like a match made in heaven and after five months, he now saw her as one of his closest friends and a person he deeply cared about and trusted.

Lyla was just as an amazing friend as the previous two. He'd learned early on that she was not the most social person, but with time he was able to warm up to her and she eventually became comfortable with being able to talk to him. Even if they had gotten close though, she was still easily prone to being flustered, something both he and Kate easily took advantage of when given the chance.

She was a very sweet and compassionate person. Her kindness truly knew no bounds and Percy swore that her blazingly radiant smile was even brighter than the sun. Her gentle and naive attitude was both astonishing and worrying. Lyla's naivete made her easy to trust others and assume the best of anyone, which, while a commendable outlook to have, was concerning for both Percy and Kate. Their protectiveness over Lyla was another thing they shared.

Other than his friends, he also cared for Falcone and Frank. Though he hasn't spoken with both that much, most of all the former whom he hasn't spoken to in months, he still was very much grateful for them; they have been a huge help and without them he wouldn't have a home. Nor a moderately-high paying job which he enjoyed. Nor would he have met his new friends.

As he finally exited the campus, Percy thought about everyone he's met. They have all helped him in their own ways and he definitely wouldn't have lived as well as he did without them all. For that he was eternally grateful and he would promise to pay them all back someday.

Maybe he could even find some way to communicate with them in the future so that he wouldn't need to time travel every time just to visit them.

Percy grimaced at the thought as he dreaded the day he'd need to explain all of this to them.

To his friends back home, they would be shocked, sure, but seeing as they were children of literal Gods, they wouldn't be that surprised like he was. However, the other friends he'd made in Gotham were a different story entirely.

Having to explain to them about the whole time travel thing and the fact that he was a demigod certainly sounded a lot harder as he'd be explaining it to mortals, who from what he knew mainly believed in God.

Percy shook his head at that, not wanting to start fretting for a conversation that would most likely not happen anytime soon. Right now, he needed to first focus on getting back home, it being his top priority.

He had asked Frank for a one week leave, using the excuse of receiving news that his mother was ill and so he needed to stay with her, and his boss gave it to him. If he really was going home, he wouldn't have needed to ask for permission, however, on the chance that it'd take longer than expected to go home, he didn't want to be fired upon returning because of his sudden disappearance.

This way, he could go back to his job without any repercussions should he need more time to formulate a plan B on how to get back to his time.

So with his leave in progress, he could now enact his plan to get back home. But before that, he needed to visit someone.

| January 20, 2003 - A Few Hours Later

| New York, Manhattan

Percy took steady, even breaths as he stood in front of what he assumed was his mother's apartment. It took a few tries but he hoped that he had finally found it.

Inhaling sharply, he brought his closed fist onto the surface of the door and knocked twice.

No reply.

Letting out the breath he had been holding, he went and knocked again, only this time thrice.

"Coming!"

His eyes widened when he heard the voice. It sounded younger than he thought, but he was sure. No he knew that it was—

The door opened, revealing just who he was praying to see. There in all her glory, stood Sally Jackson looking much younger than when he had last seen her which was many years ago.

"Hello there," She smiled kindly at him, and right there and then his worries seemingly went away at the warm words for a few moments until he had to go back to reality. "What brings you to my home?" She inquired curiously.

"I—" His words died in his throat, prompting him to clear it before attempting to form a coherent sentence. "Are you Sally Jackson?"

"Well, you got the first name right," She giggled before raising her hand to the confused demigod who now got a look at the wedding ring on her finger. "I go by Sally Blofis now, dear."

'What…?'

It was as if his mind hit a huge wall and had been thrown in for a big loop. Dazed and most definitely confused, Percy was speechless.

"Dear?" Her voice brought him back from his frozen state of mind, more or less.

"Uh yes, mo-?" He stopped himself. 'That was close.'

"Would you like to go inside so that we could better discuss the nature of your visit?" She offered.

"Sure," He said after a momentary pause, smiling despite the oddity of it all.

"Oh goodie," She beamed, opening the door wider for him to walk through and stepping to the side as he entered the apartment

Percy was then led to a couch somewhere inside. He hadn't bothered to look around as he was deep in thought.

What was happening? Why was she married to Paul so early on? He assumed all of it was somehow connected to him traveling back in time as well. Nothing about all of it was adding up though.

Ugh.

He needed answers, he thought to himself.

"Would you like some blue cookies? I've got some leftovers, they're my son's favourite," Sally said walking towards him with said cookies and Percy immediately snatched them up and devoured them.

Oh blue cookies, how he had missed thee.

She took a seat beside him and stared at him finishing the cookies within a minute.

"I'm glad you like it," Her eyes were widened slightly in shock but her bright smile never faded, even growing slightly at seeing her cookies being appreciated.

"Oh, em swwy," He said sheepishly as he stared back at her with cookies in his mouth. Sally chuckled at his behavior, causing him to blush as he quietly but quickly swallowed the food in his mouth.

"I'm sorry," He repeated, clearly this time.

"No harm done, dear," She smiled.

A pause. "Who are you?"

"I'm…Perseus…" He trailed off and thought quickly on his feet. "Perseus Chase."

"It's nice to meet you, Perseus," She eyed him with an observant expression.

"You know…you remind me of my son," She said suddenly.

"What?" Percy asked, his voice sounding an octave higher as he was caught off guard.

"Yes," She nodded, her eyes fixed on his face. "His name's Perseus as well."

"Oh…" Percy chuckled nervously. "Then you must be a fan of Greek mythology like my parents were."

"Actually, his father was."

A pause. "Who was his father?"

Her expression turned serious and guarded. "So do I get to know why you've come here, and does it have something to do with why you looked shocked that I was married?" She asked, changing the topic and he decided to not press it further.

A beat. In and out.

A beat. In and out.

Percy could practically hear his slowed breathing and heart thumping as he tried to think of a cover story, because now knowing that she was married to Paul, he couldn't take chances.

She still had him, but that didn't necessarily mean that his father here —whatever here was — was Poseidon or Paul, meaning he had to play this smart.

"I don't know if you remember me but…" He swallowed. "You helped me a long time ago and I just- came to thank you…for everything."

"Oh, I can't say I recall ever helping you. I'm sorry, could you enlighten me on what I did?"

"I was in a really bad place at the time. I don't want to bore you with the details, so I'll just skip to the part you came along. One day I was out, sitting on a bench in this park, you appeared out of nowhere and sat next to me," He started whilst silently praying she would believe him.

"You struck up a conversation, I opened up to you at some point and well, you hugged me and told me everything was going to be fine. It was a long time ago, but what you did really gave me hope that things were going to get better, you know?"

"…so yeah, that's my story. And for why I was surprised earlier, when I last saw you you weren't married," He shot her a lopsided smile, which she returned after a second, eliciting a sigh of relief from him.

"It's still not ringing any bells," His smile dropped. "But, it's no matter, I'm happy that I was able to help regardless of whether I remembered it or not."

His smile returned. With silence following her words, Percy stared at the woman smiling kindly in front of him. The memories he'd made with her, the times she'd been there for him when the times got tough, all of them flowed through his mind and he could no longer stop himself.

Impulsively, he went and hugged her tightly. She smelled like chocolate and sweets, her scent being almost exactly the same as he remembered. Percy swore he felt like just melting on her shoulder as her whole body radiates warmth and comfort.

Before he could even think of resting his head on her, he froze as he realized what he'd just done and how it'd look like to the woman who clearly saw him as a stranger. However, she stopped him just as he was about to pull away awkwardly and hugged him back.

"It's okay…" She whispered to him soothingly. "It's okay."

Percy wore a stupid smile the whole time as he embraced his mother tightly. Oh gods, he really needed this. He loved his life here, he loved his friends and his students, but he still really missed everyone else back home. They just couldn't be replaced nor be forgotten.

With that thought invading his mind, he was then soberly reminded of the situation he was in and after a few more seconds of savouring his mother's warmth, he pulled away.

"I'm sorry for…" Percy started, but Sally waved him off.

"It's no problem. We all need a hug every once in a while, you know? To remind ourselves we're not alone. That everything is…or at least, will be fine someday," A pause. "Feeling better?"

"Uh yes, actually," Percy admitted, smiling sheepishly before shooting up from the couch onto his feet. "I'm sorry, but I do need to get going now."

"Thank you for the cookies..and thank you for everything, Sally," He smiled widely at her as he started walking away though his gaze still rested on her. "I know it might not matter much coming from me, but I think you're the best mother in the world." He looked straight into her sparkling eyes, staring into them momentarily before turning away and ran out of the apartment.

Once out, he didn't stop running and continued until he was out of the building and back on the streets. Now standing on the sidewalk, he could clearly hear the sounds of cars passing through, people walking and going about their day normally as one would. Meanwhile, he stared down at his feet.

Closing his eyes, he inhaled and exhaled. Whatever this time and world he was in, it wasn't his. There were too many differences so it couldn't be, which gave him all the more reason to get out of here.

Once he was able to calm his panicked mind and once again catch sight of what he needed to do next, Percy raised his head high with an indomitable resolve burning within his eyes.

Next stop, his father's domain.

Back in her apartment, Sally stared at the door that Percy had entered and left through with a smile.

"What a strange young man," She muttered to herself. At that exact moment, Sally suddenly felt a sharp pain in her chest causing her hand to reflexively rest atop her heart. She then felt something land on her hand.

Sally was surprised when she looked down, as she found teardrops slowly falling onto her hand. It was then that she realized that she was crying with tears continuously pouring forth from her eyes like a broken sink.

She was at a loss, feeling a surge of different emotions washing over her. Feelings that she didn't think she was supposed to be feeling yet she was. The same set of unknown emotions that she had felt all throughout her interaction with Percy.

It was all so confusing. Why had she felt such a strong desire to embrace a young man that she had never remembered meeting ever in her life? Why did he remind her so much of her own son?

"Oh dear…" Sally mumbled. "What is going on with me today?"

| Gotham Docklands

Stealing was a crime. Percy knew that. But desperate times called for desperate measures, such was why he was currently in the process of stealing a small boat for his own use.

It was simple really, both in theory and on paper. As far as he knew, there was no one else on this Earth who could help him get back home other than the Gods themselves. And the easiest way to get into contact with them would be through his father, so going into his domain would make getting his attention easier.

He will eventually have to somehow convince him that he is his son from the future, but that'll be the easier part. The harder part would come later.

For now he needed to focus on summoning the Lord of the Seas himself.

"Here I go…" Percy muttered under his breath as the boat he had "borrowed" started moving and the sea vessel took off into the horizon.

| January 20, 2003 - Sometime Later

| At Sea

Once he had gotten far enough that there was no sight of land in any direction, Percy decided that it was a better spot than any to talk to his father. Walking past the food that he had packed with him and towards the bow, Percy crouched down by the edge and submerged his hand under the seawater. Feeling its effect on him, Percy smiled.

Even without having come into contact with it physically, being surrounded by nothing but water was greatly calming for him. To be in such a free space in his own element was always an amazing feeling. He felt so peaceful.

Shaking his head whilst he brought his hand up from the water, Percy redirected his thoughts towards what he came there to do.

"Dad?" Percy called out, the volume of his voice being clearly louder than his normal one. "Dad. I don't know if you're out there or if you're even listening, but I really need your help."

"I'm…I'm your son and if you're hearing this, I know it sounds crazy but I am," He chuckled. "I swear on the River Styx that I am not lying, that I am really your son, that I am a son of Poseidon." Thunder boomed in the distance.

"So if you're out there, dad, please, I need your help in getting back home," He finished with bated breath as he waited for something.

Anything to indicate that his father was here. Maybe a messenger in the form of a fish coming to inform him that Poseidon had heard his pleas or maybe he'd just appear out of thin air in front of him.

But nothing.

All he could see was the ever moving sea that he was surrounded by, its waves rocking the boat. All he could hear was the splashing of the currently calm seas.

But other than that? Nothing. Just nothing.

He was there, standing on a boat with the wind blowing on his face, reminding him of just how alone he really was.

AN:Anddddddd done! Hope you all enjoyed the chapter! If so, then please follow and favorite, it would be greatly appreciated! If not, then you don't need to. Also review! Love it or hate it, I'd like to hear all your thoughts, comments and as always, constructive criticism is welcome!

So there is the second chapter, not much happening (that'll change soon). Time skip, yes, I just wanted to skip all that because I didn't really wanna cover those 5 months in the span of like 3-5 chapters, too lazy to. Besides, its not like it would've added anything to the story LMAO. So here we are after a 5 month time skip, Percy's now setting out to find a way back home. He's off to a little rocky start for sure. He also met this world's Sally so that was a fun interaction LMAO. I do not know how to write Sally at all, that's what I thought a year ago when I wrote this and I still do to this day, if not more. All this time I haven't written at all, been too busy, so my writing's a little rusty I found, but my knowledge of PJO is what's even worse, it's pretty much nonexistent at this point. Well, goodluck to me ig with all these ongoing PJO fics and yet knowing close to nothing about anything now LMAO

Anyways, that's all for now! Thank you all for reading and I will see you all in the next chapter!

Byeeeee!
