Chapter 3

The pair was asleep on the couch. Empty bowels all around, the credits of the last episode on the disk were rolling on the screen and Rory's head was nestled on Marty's shoulder. Then her loud blonde roommate entered, being more obnoxious than she usually was. Rory stirred and finally registered the scene before her. She and Marty were in her dormitory's public area: the living room.

Paris had already entered her room, muttering something incoherent under her breath. A few minutes later, she reappeared in a rush, and thankfully, left hurriedly. Rory was delighted to see her depart without acknowledging her.

Rory's attention turned back to the sleeping man next to her on the couch and noted an aching stiffness in her own neck. He's going to be in pain too if we don't relocate.

Carefully, she nuzzled closer to him. Damn, he looks so attractive when he's relaxed.

She tried to untangle their limbs but turned to look at his sleeping form without falling off the furniture. She took a moment to examine his features in the moonlight before she pressed her lips up against his like she did earlier in the night. When that went without avail, she pressed her entire body into his and sucked on his lower lips. Within a few seconds, he started kissing back. She pulled gently away. He looked at her, not realizing how close she was, and silently pleaded for more but not really knowing how to ask.

She, being a Gilmore, knew how to be forward tactfully, "I have a stiff neck from the couch."

"Yeah, it's pretty late. I guess we should probably call it a night." He said unsurely.

She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. "I don't want you to leave." She whispered.

She stood up swiftly and turned off the TV. He slowly got to his feet as well. Rory spun back round. Their eyes met. She knew she would have to be bold to let her intentions be known. She threw her arms around his neck and guided his gaze to her room.

"Are you sure about this?"

An almost inaudible "Yes." escaped her lips before she ran her fingers through his hair, and brought his lips down to hers. They barely broke to enter Rory's room. Nervously he glanced at her bed, and back at her. She kept pull him closer and closer until they were horizontal again.

Marty's body once again covered Rory's, who entwined all her limbs with his. His hands were securing her to him and he did not want to let go. A small moan Rory let out brought his mind back to the situation.

"Rory…" as she was now kissing his neck. "As much as I don't want to, we have to stop."

She blushed and her rosy cheeks were flushed. He rolled to the bed on the side of her, trying to put some minimal distance between their torsos so she does not feel his pants. He did not however remove his arms. A whispered, "Okay." left the lips.

"It's not that I don't want to, but it's late…" He was searching for the right words. "and I just want to hold you tonight."

Rory was about to protest but an overpowering yawn escaped her. She agreed that sleep would be more desirable than whatever they were going to do next. Marty laid back on the bed and nudged Rory to come closer to him. She obeyed and within seconds her breathing evened out in slumber. Marty thought. I am the luckiest guy. And he too fell asleep soon thereafter.
