Whoo boy sorry this took waaay longer than it was supposed to, I was putting all of my ideas that I have for the future of this fic and organizing it into books for better reference, I still have to fix some issues in the timeline and correct some mistakes but it's mostly done. I'm amazed to say that this whole fic will take more than a year to be completed (if I go on with this current update schedule and chapter length, which is the idea), heck I'm not even sure if I'll be able to finish it completely in two years! I've organized all of my ideas in six books and one extra serving as an epilogue, now I just need to put it in words.

Also to make things worse this last month my fingers started hurting and I don't know why, I didn't have any injury or anything but if I use too much my index and middle finger from my right hand (and yes I'm right-handed, which makes things worse) they start hurting like hell. I already made an appointment with my doctor to see what's going on with it but you can guess it slowed down my writing. On top of that I was in the no inspiration zone for the past two weeks so yeah

Again I'm sorry for the delay everyone, extra long chapter to compensate!

If you want to there's something you can do for me: I'm pretty new with writing fanfics so Idk which site ( or Ao3) is better or if they have any advantages, so if anyone could give me the cons and pros of the two sites I would appreciate it. I'm not going to stop uploading on both sites but I wanna know, it makes me really curious.

The usual crap:

If you could send me a review that would be great! (not that I´m forcing you), all feedback is appreciated!

English isn't my first language , please tell me if you spot any mistakes!.

Disclaimer: I don't own the owl house, all the characters except my OCs belong to Disney and Danna Terrace. This AU idea belongs to moringmark.

An MCU facility in Connecticut / Friday July 16th 14:00

-Marcus-

Marcus stood against the elevator's wall while he waited for it to go up, he casually looked at his reflection on the mirror to fix his clothing one last time… Yeah as if that would help his current predicament.

Someone with his achievements and experience was highly required in his line of work, someone that has seen and done what he had rarely made mistakes, but now he made two huge miscalculations on his part. The first one was not sending enough people to Gravesfield in the first place, but it's not like he had many choices in the first place: With the amount of reported actives, murders and dissapearences in Eastville he felt like it was the right call to move their center of operations over that town, but he made the mistake of not leaving many units in the other nearby towns which didn't help much the current crisis.

Then in an effort to get his rookie squad under control he called for the most ruthless woman in the division: Kikimora Smith was the one ideal for the job, she was the one that helped Marcus when he was a rookie himself and had a reputation of being really strict with her underlings. He had been anticipating how those power-hungry fools would react to her when she'd show up.

Only for the issue to be solved entirely before she arrived.

It turns out that those idiots that attempted to overthrow him had no idea on how to actually manage anything so when things got worse they completely abandoned their so-called leader and came back to him like the ass kissers they were. Now that the reinforcements were here (Ten days later! Seriously, he needs to talk with HQ about it) they were behaving like good boys and obeying every command without question because they know that they would be goners if they didn't. Now the elite troops belonging to Kiki's team were all looking at him with disrespect like saying "where is the insubordination you talked so much about?"

Marcus had wanted to scream

"If I had known this was going to happen I would've asked for Lilith instead!" But alas he had nothing to do about it now. A pinging noise informed him that the elevator had arrived at his destination so he stepped outside as the doors opened, Marcus walked while he kept fumbling at his line of thought.

Everything he attempted to do these last weeks had backfired on him and now Kikimora was breathing down his neck to try to make him step down and give her the full command of the operation. He went from trying to deal with a group of noisy recruits to dealing with a superior trying to undermine his authority, it really backfired on him. Marcus sighed, maybe he was losing his touch. In the past he always relied on his instinct to guide him but now it has failed him several times…

"Sir the conference room is ready" A voice distracted him from his thoughts and he turned around expecting to see Lawrence's unkempt black hair, but instead he was greeted by Tom's golden locks.

"Ahh yes, thank you for the reminder thomas" It was strange to not having the boy reminding him of his schedule but it couldn't be helped, the lad had been really helpful in these past weeks and Marcus had repaid him by ascending him to a higher position. It took a lot of time (and several recommendation cards written by him) but finally he was accepted, it really helped that he was the only rookie in his sector without any reports towards his behavior.

Now instead of bringing him coffee and acting as a secretary Lawrence was in charge of coordinating their teams efforts and handling the lab operations, Marcus wished him good luck with that. Luckily Lawrence's new assignments didn't take him to another unit, mainly because they still were understaffed here, so he could see the lad often (in fact he was about to have a meeting with him) he just wasn't his errand boy anymore.

Marcus finally found the right room and opened the door. He thought he might find a moment of peace to be alone with his thoughts but that didn't seem like the case.

"Ah Marcus, on time as always" Kikimora's stern gaze welcomed him from a nearby chair.

"Kiki" He nodded at her while sitting down "Early as always I see"

"I like to anticipate to things, as you may know" She narrowed her eyes at him.

*Sigh* "Kikimora, can we at least try to remain civil? We are on the same team here and your open confrontation isn't helping anyone" nor does your excessive bitchiness.

"Everything I do is to help the MCU, if you feel like I'm questioning your leadership it's because I think you could improve in that specific area"

"Oh come on do not play those games with me" he got up and marched towards her to remind her that he wasn't a rookie anymore "we both know that the lack of respect and the headaches you've been giving me these past few days aren't ways to put me to the test. You are just trying to undermine my authority to take the case, but let me just warn you now: . "

"HQ has sent me here after that fiasco in the television, it means that someone above us wants me in and you out. Accept it Marcus, you lost your chance" Marcus couldn't see her face but he knew she was clenching her teeth.

"Please if someone from the higher ups wanted me out I'll be out already, they have the authority to do that after all. We both know that if they considered you for my job you would've showed up here with a written order saying just that" He walked back to his chair and relished on the tic on her eyebrow that showed how pissed she was "No, this is all just a valiant effort to make me give up this position willingly by pissing me off, all of this because headquarters did not accept your formal request of replacing me a few days ago" he added with a smug face.

She blinked several times "how did you-"

"I have my sources, now the reality of the situation is that you were sent here as back up. So stop acting like competition and start backing me up!"

*Hmph* "I suppose it's fair, this is an unprecedented crisis after all"

"Exactly, glad that you agree"

They sat down in an uncomfortable silence until Marcus heard the unmistakable noise of hurling footsteps coming from the corridor, he has heard that sound many times so he already knows what's coming. Marcus leaned back in his chair with an amused smile and waved at Lawrence when the boy bursted through the door.

"Good to see you boy"

"Ah Lawrence, late as always I see" Kikimora glared at him from her chair.

"Sorry *pant* for *pant*... The delay" he looked like he just ran a marathon during a hurricane: His hair was disheveled in a funny way, his clothes were all wrinkled, and his face was red.

"I expect this won't become a common occurrence while we work together young man, I have high standards about punctuality"

"Of course not ma'am" He said while trying to fix his appearance "Excuse me for a second" Then he marched towards Marcus with an annoyed expression.

"Everything good lad?" he asked with an amused expression, knowing why he was so angry already.

"Did you really tell the guys on the lab that I would pass there to see their reports today? Thirty minutes before our scheduled meeting? In the lab that's on the opposite side of the facility? Knowing how much it would take me to get here, and knowing how much it would piss her off? You know I'm not your errand boy anymore, right?" he whispered to his face

"Ah, I was just looking after you" He said with a grin "after all these past couple days you've been doing nothing but paperwork, if you keep going like this you'll quickly be out of shape. You are planning to come back to the field as soon as we sort things out here right? Then you can see it as my way of taking care of you"

"You are just trying to find something to amuse yourself don't you"

"It serves that purpose as well"

"I hate you"

"Gentlemen" Kiki's voice came from behind them "If you are done, I believe we are already late to our meeting"

"Oh yeah sure" Marcus got up and dedicated one last amused smile to Lawrence and got up "Let's see what's the big man got to say about this whole situation"

Fifteen minutes later

After an uncomfortably long time waiting in the elevator they were finally waiting outside of the meeting room, waiting for the technicians to set up the massive screen they were going to use for this conference with the big man. Lawrence got an urgent call so he stepped aside to answer it and Marcus found a balcony to smoke, after a while Kikimora approached him quietly.

"I still think it's far too early for him to have this kind of meeting, he hasn't been officially part of the organization for more than a year right?"

"Yes, only a couple months of field work"

"I wouldn't expose him to this much, it could be-"

"You have your ways of teaching rookies and I have mine, he has already shown great potential and this type of experience would help his career"

*Hmph* "If you say so"

"I do, and you tend to underestimate rookies way too much anyway, remember when-"

"Excuse me sir" One of the technicians called them from the meeting room and they turned to greet her "It's done, we'll clear the area for you"

"Thank you for your work lass, Lawrence, it's time!" He called over the boy who ended his phone call, and the three of them entered.

The room was mostly empty except for some old furniture decorating the walls, there were shelves and chairs that looked like they belonged to a rich english family in the 1800s. In fact the whole facility was decorated like that even if they had the top tier technology of the world, seriously those were older than him, and he was already in his fifties!

The only thing that seemed recent was the flat screen that occupied almost an entire wall, it was like one of those things rich people had in their bedrooms nowadays. The only thing that differentiated it from other TVs was that it's borders were made from a strange wood and filled with some symbols Marcus did not recognize.

"Sooo… Are we going to facetime someone?" Lawrence inquired.

Him and Kikimora just looked at him with a confused expression.

"Sorry, bad time to joke, I get it. But I don't know anything about this, and I think I should know stuff before we meet whoever we are going to meet today"

Marcus sighed

"Fair enough, we have a bit of time until we connect anyway. We are about to talk with someone that could explain us the situation, and offer us some insight on how to deal with it"

"What? But sir, we are the magical containment unit! We are the ones in charge of controlling this stuff, who's going to have more insight than us in this case?"

"Well for starters, someone coming from a magic world"

"Are… Are you telling me that you can contact someone from the other side?"

"It's a well kept secret in our organization but yes, now before we begin I must warn you: It could be extremely displeasing talking to them, he has a certain.. effect with people, especially when-"

"Shh, it's connecting" Kikimora warned them.

Certainly the black screen started to receive some colors from the runes on its sides, the colors merged together and started forming a certain shape. Marcus clenched his fists as the face of a person he thought he would never see again appeared on the monitor.

"Well hello there, Marcus" Belos's voice was as unsettling as ever.

The east side of Gravesfield / Monday July 19th 15:30

-Eda-

Eda was starting to get mad, she had been driving for the last twenty minutes and couldn't find the damn building. These streets were confusing and google maps wasn't helping "Ahh farts, this is karma for mocking Luz each time she gets lost". After more confused driving she finally found it, Eda parked her car outside and turned off the engine to look at the cliffside highschool standing in front of her.

"Ugh, I had nightmares about this" she said while looking at the building that had haunted her early years of life "Well here goes nothing!"

Three days ago

Eda just looked at the teenage girl as she told her everything about her past. How the Emperor controlled the isles and oppressed it's inhabitants, how witches are forced to have part of their magic locked away forever and those who refuse end up treated as criminals. In a very intense moment Luz told her how these "wild witches" were hunted down, imprisoned, and petrified. She mentioned to Eda how her mother was turned into a statue and then shattered to pieces in a public execution; she had been eight when that happened. The girl started shaking as she kept telling her how all of her mentors and friends were captured and petrified one by one. Eda, in an uncharacteristically display of emotion, held her by the shoulders and told her it was ok. Luz couldn't help it and cried in her arms.

After a while she calmed down and finished the rest of her story: The last of her guardians was captured when she was ten so she ended up alone, she managed to survive by stealing food and hiding from the authorities while sabotaging the emperor's coven. Years later a powerful witch that was against the coven system found her and gave her a home, they were gathering a troop of young witches to train them to overthrow the emperor, it was the first time Luz had interacted with kids her age in years and she was happy about it, but she never truly fit in that group.

"Then the day you found me I was trying to steal from the emperor's vault, made some mistakes and ended up fighting against three guards, I was cornered and out of options so I decided to use the staff I mentioned you before as a last resort"

"And then what happened?" Eda was really getting into the story, rebel witch Luz sounded so much more badass than the awkward teen she's been living with these past weeks.

"I don't know, the staff started working but the guards took it from me, after that I remember waking up in your room"

After she was done they sat in an uncomfortable silence for a while, Luz wasn't crying anymore but she was looking down with a sad face. Eda felt like she should do something but she was terrible at comforting sad people, so she decided to take another approach.

"Well Luz" Eda said after a moment "I gotta say, your life was pretty crazy, almost as crazy as mine"

"What?" Luz looked at her with confusion "What do you mean by that?"

"Yeah Kid I lived running away from the law for thirty years" Eda waved her hand dismissively "you're an amateur compared to me"

"Wait so… You aren't scared of me? Or mad that I hid the truth from you?"

"Scared? No offense kid but you are harmless, I could probably take you with one hand"

"Please Eda I'm a wild witch and you- ow!" She yelled as Eda hit her with a rolled up magazine in the head "Why did you do that?"

"To prove my point" she put the magazine down and leaned back in her chair "And I'm actually proud of you for lying to me, I thought you weren't capable of it"

"You don't have a problem with me being a fugitive?"

"Well yeah, I've been a bad girl for decades, you are just an amateur compared to me" Luz cracked a smile upon hearing that.

"Eda I've been a criminal since I was a child, and for the last two years I've been helping a group of revolutionaries overthrow a dictator"

"Pffft that's nothing, you should see the kind of stuff I managed to pull off in school" Luz looked at her with curiosity so she elaborated "at your age I got expelled for smuggling weed in a nearby school so as a revenge for that I stole the teacher's engagement ring and put it in a box, at that time they were doing a lot of repairs on the campus so there were a lot of places with wet cement. I managed to sneak past the construction workers and put the box in the ground a second before they put the wet cement and I hid afterwards *chuckle* I still remember her face"

"And… The ring?"

"I never told them where to find it, they looked for it but Im sure its still trapped beneath the cement in a building or something"

"Wow ok that was mean" she shifted her position in her chair and gave Eda a challenging look "But I'm willing to bet that I've done far worse than you, I'm a wanted criminal after all"

"Hah! So am I kid, you're on"

"Ok so uhm" she bit her lip trying to think for a couple seconds and then her eyes lit up "so there was one time when I…"

Twenty minutes later

"... And then I had to babysit the bat queen's babies for another week after she found out about it"

"Hah nice one, but you getting caught ruins the story"

"Still I think that prank was way better than anything you told me today"

"Better than seducing and sleeping with your boyfriend's sister?"

"Wow, well it's nothing compared-"

"On her wedding day? And then running away with most of her wedding gifts?" She still cracked upon remembering that night, her ex's screams fading in the background as she drove away in her motorcycle.

Luz was silent for a second "Ok you win, you are far worse than me"

After a second of silence they both cracked with laughter for a while, Eda almost fell from her chair. While they were recovering from the outburst Eda thought she made the right call, she may not know how to comfort people but she does know how to make her laugh.

"So there's still one thing I want to know" She said after a while "If you are this badass rebel hero that fights against the system imposed by the authorities, then why do you want to go to school so much?"

Luz's mood immediately darkened and she looked down with a frown.

"Human schools are no different than your world, didn't you tell me that kids there get brainwashed too?"

"Well kind off, the children get exposed to the coven system and they are told that's the only way to do magic, since they aren't told otherwise, everyone believes that without questioning it. When they are adults they are stripped from their magic before they get second thoughts about it"

"Well you may argue it's not so bad here, after all we don't physically seal away the capabilities of the children, but it's really close: All the time they fill your head full of nationalist propaganda and waste your time with useless information while they don't tell you anything useful for your adult life and then everyone expects you to know those things as an adult. They want to keep you contained and useful for society, knowledgeable enough to work for the system but not smart enough to question it"

"Yeah I figure out it would be like that *sigh* it's just that… well its something dumb"

Eda groaned and jokingly punched Luz shoulder "I'll never get why people hide their feelings, if you wanna say something say it, obviously it's important"

"Well whenever I managed to catch a glimpse of school kids doing their homework or going to class, they seemed happy. I know that they are being indoctrinated into something they might regret later but it looked fun" She looked at the horizon with a dreamy look "I was always on the run and alone most of the time. I've never been able to be around people my age until I joined the BATs and I've never truly fit there too, I've had friends and even a boyfriend before (I'm not going to talk to you about that ever, so don't ask) but I always wondered what would be like to truly belong to somewhere. I-I love my mom and I truly thank her for what she's done for me, but sometimes I wonder if… If she should've let me choose what kind of life I would've wanted before throwing me into the fight"

"What do you mean by that?" Eda was perplexed, from the way Luz described her before she thought the woman was a saint.

"Well she didn't have much choice in the matter either: The whole dimension was against her way of living and she was wanted by the law so sending me to school was out of question, but she didn't give me a choice. She just told me to help her to fight and I did without hesitation because I was too little to truly understand the implications, and now that I'm in this world free of the emperor's coven, free of danger, free of expectations I. I feel guilty about it"

"About what"

"About all of this!" She said pointing to the owl house with her arms "Here I'm able to relax and truly be myself for the first time in ages, not to worry about being caught, or stealing food, or figuring out where I'm going to sleep next. Here I have company and a safe place to live and it's wonderful, but a part of me feels guilty because I should be back in the isles and fighting for the sake of wild magic to live up to my mother's expectations, I feel guilty for that"

And with just that Eda understood it. The thing that made her and Luz so different and yet so similar: Both of them were forced down to opposite paths in a similar way by their parents, Eda's mom had wanted her to have the best life and had given her a lot of opportunities with the best intentions in mind. Gwendolyn had really meant well but her methods were really questionable: She had practically drowned Eda with her affections to the point of ignoring Lilith, and she planned every detail of her life without caring if she wanted that or not in the first place. Eda started to rebel as a sign of protest and she kept escalating things to escape her mother's influence. Nowadays it was a part of her personality but sometimes she wondered if she would've stopped being a rebel if her mother had actually listened.

Luz on the other hand wasn't a rebel by choice, she had experienced more than enough adventures and excitement for any kid her age. No, what she actually needed was (and Eda hated this word) being a 'normal' kid; Go to school, have friends, suffer with crushes, and go outside to do whatever teenagers do nowadays.

Well if that was what she wanted Eda could give it to her.

"Ok kid, you win"

"Huh?"

"I'm going to let you go to school, I'll have a buddy work on the papers this week"

"But- I thought you hated it"

"Oh of course I do, and whenever you get tired of it I will pull you out of that hellhole as fast as I can, but I feel like it could be good for you. I'm not talking about the capitalist brainwashing but hanging out with friends and going to dates might be good for you, even I have good memories from pulling pranks with friends at school"

"Are you serious?" Her face lit up but then she frowned again "But no wait, I have to look for the staff and go back home remember?"

"You can still do it and go to school at the same time, it's not like you can't come back later"

"But…"

"No buts, you need to learn how to relax, kid" Luz didn't look convinced so she kept going "Look kid you are sixteen, people of your age don't carry the world on their shoulders, just take your time to figure everything out ok?"

Luz gave her a radiant smile "Ok"

"Miss clawthorne?" The sudden voice of the secretary managed to snap Eda out of her memories "The principal is still busy but he told me that you are welcome to wait inside his office, as long as you behave? I'm not sure I understood that part"

"Oh ah, thank you" Eda stood up from the chair in the waiting room she had been in for the last ten minutes and walked towards the door. She reached towards the handle and gulped, she really wasn't looking forward to this but it needed to be done. She opened the door and a barrage of memories invaded her from the times she was here for causing mayhem. Eda approached the desk in the room and sat on one of the chairs opposite to it, she was looking at the trophy gallery at the side to see if she could look at the one she won at baseball when she heard someone clearing their throat behind her.

"Edalyn, it's been a while" an old man with black hair entered the room and closed the door behind him, he sat on his desk and looked at Eda with a passive expression.

"Gotta be honest, it feels weird to stand here without you yelling at me" she said after some minutes of silence.

Right now she was in the principal's office of Cliffside highschool. Eda actually used to study here when she was a teenager, she remembered hating this town when they moved here from the west coast and that feeling hasn't faded after decades. The person sitting in front of her was the school principal: Hieronymus Bump, his face was full of wrinkles and one of his eyes had a scar over it, his hands were shaking with parkinson, and his long black hair looked like it belonged in an advertisement for a hair product. He had been just a teacher when Eda was here and she made his life hell during those years, but weirdly enough they made peace just before she dropped out and they kept in touch with each other during the past 30 years.

"I can easily fix that Edalyn. Now get your feet out of my desk!" Well they may be on talking terms but that does not mean that they were friendly to each other, especially when she was putting her dirty boots on top of his documents.

"Sorry, force of habit" She sat down properly "so how things have been in here huh? Does Odalia invite you to her fancy meetings now that she's a CEO? I remember how desperate was she to get on your good side"

"Oh please, as if that woman would ever consider inviting a public school teacher to an event filled with rich people that could potentially finance her campaign, even if I was the one that gave her the opportunities to start her business" Bump gave a long sigh and fixed his glasses "I'm afraid that she has changed for the worse over the years"

"That's what happens when people become important Bumpy-kins, they forget about you. Trust me, it took decades for Lilith to remember that I existed after she got that fancy jobin the government. From what I remember that weirdo Blight asked Odalia to be her boyfriend after graduation and when it turned out that he was actually a rich genius she dug her claws on him to never let go" Eda looked through the window and saw the school's playground, which immediately filled her with nostalgia "Now her husband owns a small company and she works in the mayor's office, but it seems that's not enough for her"

"Yes it seems that way. Now I'm gonna ignore that rude nickname of yours and address the elephant in the room: What are you doing here Edalyn? Did you finally decide to come back and finish school? I'm glad for you but sadly that this institution is only for teenagers"

"Did you just call me old? No wait, nevermind that" Eda pinched the bridge of her nose while thinking how to word her next request "I have a… minor under my care, and I wish to enroll her for this next semester"

The older man just sat there in a shocked silence with his eye wide open. Even his injured eye, which he could barely move, was slightly raised.

"Well I certainly wasn't expecting this development" He took out his glasses and started cleaning them with his robe "I heard some tales of your journeys Eda, mainly from Lilith and police reports, so I know you've been married before. But I never could've guessed that it ended so badly that you left your child behind"

"Wait what?"

"Don't play dumb Eda, I know that in all of these years there wasn't anyone else living in that owl house of yours, escecially a minor" He stood up and walked around his office "I won't say I'm dissapointed on you because I do not now the circumstances of your departure…"

"Wait, does he really think that I…"

"...However it's comforting to see that you managed to step up and reconnect with her, and to think that you'd send your own daughter to school! Honestly I'm surprised-"

Eda stood up so quickly that her chair fell off, she put a hand over the principal's face to stop his lecture

"Gonna stop you right there Bumpy-kins, that girl isn't my daughter, trust me if I had a child I would know" Her face was flushing really hard and she was feeling rather embarrassed with this whole discussion "Like I said, she's a minor under my care. Now I know that you may have a bad image of me (and I can't blame you for that) but I am not the kind of person that leaves a baby behind, no matter how gross they can be"

"I see" Bump raised his eyebrow and sat down again "I apologise for my previous outburst then, I didn't intend to make you feel nervous"

"It's all cool, don't worry about it"

"But I feel like I should ask, where does she come from?"

"Her mom was one of my buddies when I was traveling the country" That was the story that she came up with Luz the other day. "We lost contact for years and I wasn't aware that she had a daughter until a few weeks ago when she showed up with a letter from her mother. Apparently she can't come with her, you know how this government treats immigrants, and wants her to have a better life"

"And you just took her in?" His eyes were radiating skepticism.

"Well I owed Cam a few favors and I'm not the type of person that leaves a teenager in the road without anywhere to go"

"You could've called the authorities and left her to the care of the system, it's not ideal but that's what most people would've done"

"Well I'm not like most people" Then a small smile appeared in her face "Besides you know already what I think about the system"

"Well, I will say that I'm proud of you for this new achievement" Bump tried to hide his smirk but Eda could see it "But I'm afraid that we need to discuss something first before I even consider enrolling her"

"Oh yeah that paperwork bullshit, before you even ask she's completely legal" Eda waved the forged documents in front of him.

"Well I'm glad that's the case" He got up and started looking inside a file cabinet "But that's not what I meant"

"Huh? What else do we need to talk about?" Eda asked as Bump dropped a stack of papers on his desk.

"We need to talk about this: The pranks, the crimes, the items stolen, the drugs, the vandalism, all the properties you damaged and Ms Haywire engagement ring. All of the awful things you did while you studied here Edalyn" She sunk in her chair upon seeing her permanent record "Before your new ward is allowed to be here you have to clean the mess you left us thirty years ago"

"Huh" She squealed upon realizing this was going to be a long day "I thought it would be bigger"

-Luz-

Luz was having the time of her life, these past days had been amazing for her: Eda finally agreed on taking her to school (In fact she was there right now doing the paperwork), she had gotten herself a phone and she'd been using it to text with Willow non stop, and now she was going to see a movie with her and her friend Gus! Life couldn't be better right now. The whole fuzz she caused in the media last saturday has quieted down a little bit and there weren't any attacks from magical creatures these past few days (Except the trash slug incident, but they swore to never talk about the trash slug incident). Overall she has finally gotten used to all of the streets nearby so she was confident in her ability to navigate the city and not getting lost in the process.

Right now she was trying to find her new friend in the mall, Luz was distracted while looking at all of the shops (seriously who needs to buy that much stuff?) So she didn't notice another figure that was also walking aimlessly until it was too late.

"So I was with him the other day and- agh! Hey! Watch where you are going loser!"

"Sorry! I didn't see you"

Luz rubbed the part of her head that was hurting as she watched the girl she just bumped into recover from the shock: She was wearing a pink jacket over a white shirt and a black skirt with pink flowers on it, she was actually wearing pink heels which made her trip even more after their collision. Her face was really pretty and the fact she was wearing makeup accentuated it even more, her hair was a deep shade of red (something that she hasn't seen in humans) almost pink even. There was no denying that she was beautiful but all of that was deeply contrasted by the big frown in her face and the fury on her eyes, which was now directed at Luz.

"Who the hell do you think you are? Why did you run into me like that, huh?" Luz cowered in fear.

"I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention and I was just wandering around but to be fair you also weren't paying attention so it's kinda both of our fault and-" Luz was doing what she always does in extremely tense social situations: Ramble her unfiltered thoughts at the speed of sound, usually that just confuses people or just makes them angrier, it was a 50/50 scenario.

"Did you just tell me it was my fault that you tripped on me" Yep no definitely got angrier, Luz was kind of impressed that this girl managed to understand her despite the speed of her words.

"Boscha it's ok, you don't need to make a big deal out of this" a dark skinned girl that was with her came to defuse the situation.

The redhead turned around to complain to her friend and Luz took the chance, she started to back off slowly and, once she put enough distance between them, she ran away at full speed. She could hear the screaming coming from behind her but she didn't even bother to look back.

"Let's run away from my problems, I love doing that, there's no way that this will come back to me later no sir" She thought sarcastically.

When she was sure that the other girls weren't chasing after her Luz reflected on her actions. If this had happened in the demon realm she would have talked to deescalate the situation (well at least she would've tried, but her track record on these things wasn't stellar) and then if that wasn't possible she would always stand her ground against any attacker, which often leaded things into a fight. In the boiling isles street fights were fairly common and authorities rarely stopped them, unless they did relevant damage to nearby buildings. But since she arrived in the human world Luz became a bit shyer and careful, after all one of the conditions Eda gave her was to not attract attention to herself and humans in general did not seem to like the idea of beating strangers over an argument.

Luz was startled when someone tapped her shoulder and interrupted her thoughts, she really should pay more attention to her surroundings. Luz stumbled and got in a fighting position, only to discover that it was Willow with a dark skinned boy behind her.

"Wow easy, we don't wanna rob you" Willow's face was lit up with a mischievous grin "Gotta handle it to you tho, how long have you been here, a couple of weeks? And you already managed to piss off Boscha? Dang that's a record"

"Oh" she visibly relaxed "Hi Willow sorry you just surprised me, and you must be Gus!"

"Gus Porter, pleased to meet you" he cheerfully extended his hand for her to shake "Willow told me a lot about you but I know someone is trustworthy when they can piss of Boscha like that"

"Wait, you guys saw that?"

"We along half the people in the mall saw that, but don't worry about her, she's like that with everyone" Gus clarified

"Oh uh, she doesn't sound like a nice person"

"Ugh I did not come here to talk about Boscha, come on you guys, we are going to be late to the movie" Willow started guiding them towards the cinema

In they way Luz chatted more with the duo and got to really meet Gus; The guy was a true fanatic about many things, he was passionately rambling about this new show he's been watching when she casually mentioned Willow that she didn't know much about the movie they were going to watch, they boy quickly changed subjects and started explaining all of the franchise's lore. Luz thought she was going to die from information overload but luckily he calmed down when they got in line.

"Oh Luz I wouldn't like to assume, but is it true that you are new to this country?" he raised his hands when he saw their looks "not that there's anything wrong with that! And you don't have to answer-"

"Gus!" Willow hissed and smacked his head "that's really insensitive from your part!"

"No it's okey, yes I am from… a different place, and I was kinda hoping it wouldn't be that obvious"

"Well sorry to burst your bubble but you weren't doing a good job at hiding it" Willow gave her a smile "I could tell that you didn't know many basic things by the way you texted with me"

"And you pretty much confirmed it when you admitted that you didn't know about redemption X" added Gus while rubbing the part of his head that Willow hit "I mean which american teenager hasn't heard of that? Come on"

Luz huffed in defeat and crossed her arms.

"Well now that we cleared it, do you mind me asking what country are you from? I always like to listen to stories about other places" Gus was looking at her eagerly.

Luz gulped "Oh I definitely didn't think about this"

"Uhh, maybe another day? I don't feel like talking about this"

"Ok that's fine, do you think you can help me with my spanish classes? I'm still struggling with the pronunciation of certain words"

"Oh no"

Two hours later

Luz was worried that being around Gus would blow her cover but luckily Willow asked him to stop once she found out he was making her uncomfortable. She actually enjoyed the movie and when they left she started to geek out just like Gus, they started talking about character development and possible outcomes for future movies so much that Willow ended up feeling like a third wheel. Now they stopped in a food shop and were having some fizzy drinks at a table on the food court inside the mall. Overall it had been a good day despite the sensory overload her ears were exposed to

"Seriously, why do humans need to have everything so loud? It's a wonder those speakers didn't deafen me, do they have less hearing than witches? Hmm, maybe that's why their ears are so small…"

"Hello, earth to Luz? Luz!" Willow's yelling stopped her inner rambling "Oh wow thank god, I've been trying to reach you for the past thirty seconds or something"

"Sorry, sometimes I get too lost inside my head with random thoughts" She smiled awkwardly.

"Yep I've noticed, do you have ADHD or something?"

"Do I have what?"

"Hey guys check this out!" Gus interrupted their conversation to show them something on his phone "Some people have confirmed sightings of a new magical creature!"

Luz choked on her drink.

"Excuse me, what?"

"Oh ignore him, ever since the fiasco with the fake magic user last saturday he's been looking at internet rumors like crazy" She gave Gus a stern glare "I told you it wasn't real, do you think the government is going let us see footage of an actual magic person if it was real?"

Luz was suddenly having serious problems breathing.

"You can't deny the evidence Willow! Several eyewitnesses and recordings disagree with you" He showed them the website he was looking at on his phone and there it showed several comments and photos "This just came from the west part of the city, can we go there to check?"

"Wait, that actually looks like… a finger-dragon oh no!

"I'm not going to spend my off work day chasing after your conspiracy theories, now drop it Gus" The smaller boy grunted but said nothing more "Well I was about to ask you Luz if you wanted to go to- wait are you ok?" Luz had actually paled upon seeing the images Gus shared.

"I really need to work on my poker face, but nevermind that I have to check if the dragon is actually real without raising suspicion from these two… Come on Luz, think of something!"

"Ahh yes it's just that… I-uh, just remembered about my curfew! Yeah I have to go back home now or else people there are gonna get mad at me, sorry guys"

"But you told me that your guardian doesn't give you any timetable and let's you stay up late"

"Oh really? Man I envy you, my dad is really strict with bedtime"

"Ohh yeah buuut, today I have to… help her in the shop! Yep she can't do much there without me" She gave them the most innocent smile she could muster.

"nailed it!"

"Oh well if that's the case you better go then, I don't want you to get fired"

"Bye Luz! It was good to know you"

"Yeah likewise, tell Willow to give you my number! I can't wait to discuss the movie we just saw" Luz got up and hugged her two new friends while Willow complained that she was surrounded by geeks. She waved them goodbye and exited the mall, she found an empty alleway nearby and quickly used a spell to change into her wild witch attire.

"Hopefully this isn't anything, but I gotta check this just to be sure"

And there you have it! Again I'm sorry for the extended hiatus, I will try to update every 2 or 3 weeks but the lack of inspiration can ruin it for me, hyperfixation can be a bitch. Also maybe my fingers will slow my writing, we'll see.

Also for those of you wondering where is the Lumity stuff, don't worry it will come. These chapters are more like an introduction to the universe and I'm mostly focusing on the Eda/Luz relationship.
