Woohoo tenth chapter! I'm honestly amazed that my inspiration for this lasted this long, usually I drop interest with projects after a while but writing this has kept my mental afloat these past months. Also the views and feedback I've been getting on both sites helped a lot.

I wanna say that probably my fanfic will keep going after the second and third seasons ended so probably it won't end the same way, you guys have seen that I've taken some stuff from the series and the comic to make this. I'm still unsure if I wana include some plot from the second half of the season two but I probably won't. That would also include the characters: I'm trying to make the characters as close to the comic as possible (I will use the series for the ones that didn't appear in the comic) but I might add some of my own twists for their personal plots and they might have a different character development than the series, so if they end up a bit OOC at the end you know why.

After weeks of uploading in Ao3 I realized that putting stuff from google doc it's a really annoying chore, but I've gotten used to it.

Also one more thing: You may have noticed that I always alternate between three points of view (sometimes four) in the chapters, and that I don't change the POV until that scene in particular is over. The last chapter I based it on the episode on the series for the Eda parts, which meant that I had to go back and forth between her and the rest so her section was fragmented. I'm here to ask: Do you guys prefer it that way, or how I did things originally? Just wondering.

The usual crap:

If you could send me a review that would be great! (not that I´m forcing you), all feedback is appreciated!

English isn't my first language , please tell me if you spot any mistakes!.

Disclaimer: I don't own the owl house, all the characters except my OCs belong to Disney and Danna Terrace. This AU idea belongs to moringmark.

-Lawrence-

The MCU facility / Sunday July 25th 9:00 AM

"Oh Lawrence! Happy birthday lad!" Marcus greeted him when he entered his office

Oh right, today was his 31st birthday. He hadn't even remembered about it, these past months had been so bizarre that now birthdays seemed like a thing from another world. That thought alone made him sad: He used to enjoy going out and celebrating with his friends on his birthdays, has this whole business really changed him so much? He knew what was on the deal when he became a part of the MCU, but some days he had regrets.

"How did you know about that?" Lawrence asked to clear his head from the negative thoughts.

"I read your file when I recruited you, didn't I?" The man had been immersed in his laptop for a while and didn't even look up to talk to him.

There was nothing notable about Marcus' office, it was almost boring how normal it was. The yellow carpet covering the walls had a monotonous flower pattern and the wooden floor cracked under his feet, and the furniture wasn't anything out of the ordinary either: File cabinets and wooden drawers were the only things here apart from his desk, seriously he could not fathom why this man could use plasma cannons but struggle with google drive.

Really the thing that made this office so different from the rest was its simplicity. Most higher ups liked to use magic relics that the organization allowed them to keep as decorations, even if they weren't allowed to have that people usually grabbed harmless souvenirs from missions to put in their walls, Lawrence had part of a horn from a magic creature he had to face in his first mission sitting on his desk. But something that really worried him is that everyone else tried to put a bit of their lives in their offices, meanwhile Marcus had nothing: No medals, no trophies, no diplomas, no photos with family members, no souvenirs, no decorations, nothing. It was like this man did not have personal life, just work.

"Yeah well, can we talk?" He was feeling awkward even though he had practised this scenario before.

"Can it wait? I have not been here for a couple of days and you know how the paperwork tends to stack up when you are absent" he was looking at the stack of papers next to his laptop, totally ignoring him. Lawrence sighed and sat in front of him.

"I will help you as we talk, this is really important and it can't wait" He grabbed a stack of papers and a pen.

"Suit yourself" The two of them worked for a while in an uncomfortable silence "So… What did you want to talk about?"

"Isn't it obvious? About the meeting we had last week!"

"Oh yes about that… How was the equipment that Belos sent for tracking magical creatures? Does it work well?"

"It works well, but I'm not here to talk about that" Lawrence was grinding his teeth out of frustration.

"Oh then is it about the item list we were supposed to receive from him, I know he hasn't sent those yet-"

"I'm not here for that either!" Lawrence yelled and slammed his fist against the desk in frustration "I want you to tell me why didn't you warn me about belos and why didn't you tell me about the situation!"

"I tried to warn you before the call started but it was too late, that was my bad" He sighed and kept going through the papers without looking at him "Regarding the situation I thought it would be better if you attended the meeting before hearing the tale, I'm a big fan of the 'learning in the job' method"

"Yeah I noticed, and so far it isn't working" Lawrence rubbed his face with one hand to calm himself, he knew that yelling at his superior was a bad idea but the old man was infuriating him with his indifference "Why didn't you told me that we had a deal with the emperor of a foreign dimension?"

"That was above your rank lad, we can't be telling this stuff to recruits"

"Oh but I am not a recruit anymore, am I? After all I've been doing parts of your job that require high skill and, last time I checked, I've been ascended" He took a deep breath and continued helping him with the paperwork "If you are going to give me all the work of a higher rank without the benefits that should come with it, I'll just quit"

"You are not going to quit, you are far too invested with this case" Lawrence hated how well he could read him "But I guess you are right, that would be an unfair treatment"

"Then I want to know, about everything regarding this 'boiling isles' dimension and our agency's past with it"

Marcus sighed and put down the papers he was holding, then he opened one of the drawers that were on his desk. After a while he pulled out what looked like a pendrive, he gave it to Lawrence and for the first time in the day looked at him in the eyes.

"All of the information that you want is in here, it's a long read with a lot of videos included so I'd suggest that you start as soon as possible" Marcus gave him a sad look and returned to his papers "It was very negligent of me to not share that information with you beforehand and I apologize, but I was merely looking after you: There is a lot of stuff in here that could disturb even the bravest of our agents"

"I appreciate the sentiment, but I believe I already passed the point of no return" Lawrence looked at the drive for a second and then put it in his pocket "No, not like this" He said with a determined voice after a while.

"Not like what?"

"I don't want to hear everything through some videos and files, that doesn't feel right. You said that it was your responsibility to tell me this stuff, so go ahead and do it in person"

"There is a lot of vital information there, explained in a better way that I could manage. Not to mention that I still need to sort all of this paperwork" The old man was getting tired of him but Lawrence couldn't care less.

"Oh I will definitely read all of it later and I will stay here to help you as I promised, but you are not dodging this kind of responsibility"

"Ah fair enough, let me get my thoughts in order"

The old man then grabbed a bottle of liquor and two glasses, he poured one for himself and offered the other to Lawrence but he declined. It was too early for this. He kept helping Marcus with his paperwork as he drank. A few minutes passed until the man put down his glass on the table and looked at him.

"What do you want to know about"

"Everything regarding the dimension where witches come from"

"That's an easy place to start: It's a place called the boiling isles, long ago several gigantic beings called titans roamed that land but for an unknown reason they died. A few millennia after that, witches and demons emerged from their decomposing bodies and used them as the foundation for their civilizations"

"Wait, they live on top of a corpse? That's bizarre, don't they have anywhere else?"

"Actually they don't. They are called boiling isles for a reason my boy" Marcus was smiling for the first time since he arrived in his office, he really liked to show his knowledge on the field "Their whole ocean is made out of an acid substance that's constantly on a boiling point and it covers most of their planet, the only pieces of land they have are the titan's corpses"

"That 's insane! If the water is always boiling then does it rain a lot? Also how do they get their natural water if they are surrounded by acid?" Lawrence was behaving like an easily-amazed rookie again but he couldn't help it, this was the first time he was told about the other dimensions, even if he knew about their existence before.

"The rainy weather is kind of frequent there but it's only acid rain, the flora and wildlife of that place had learned to adapt to those circumstances" The smug smile he had on his face told him that the old man was enjoying his enthusiastic reactions "Their water problem has an easy solution: A chemical reaction occurs when the boiling sea comes in contact with the insides of the titan, the result is drinkable water. The witches have learnt of ways to speed up this process with magic so trust me lad, their society has learned to survive to their environment"

"But still… Only having a few islands in a sea of acid must be hard, if we struggle here with all of our land I can't imagine there"

"The only reason why we struggle to feed people here is because we are stupid and greedy" Marcus seemed really thoughtful with his last sentence "I've studied their society and even if it's not perfect it's better than ours in many ways. Besides, I don't think they have issues with farmland and housing, their islands are huge"

"How huge?"

"Well it's kinda hard to compare to our islands due to their shapes, these are corpses after all, and we have not been able to travel there these past decades. But according to the few registers that we have from the past the island Belos reigns is bigger than Australia, according to its surface area"

"Wait… That big? And you said that it was a corpse?"

"I did say that they were gigantic didn't I" Marcus said with a smile of satisfaction "Other than that there isn't much else: They live in large communities that resemble a mix of medieval villages and modern cities, they use magic artifacts like we use technological devices and the wildlife there is extremely dangerous"

Lawrence took a moment to take all of that and attempted to imagine a creature as large as the titan but he wasn't able to. He took a moment to assimilate all of that information and then asked his next question:

"What about Belos"

"What about him?" Marcus' mood instantly darkened.

"Well you did say he ruled there and he called himself emperor, so I was wondering if it was the same as old emperors from the earth. I'm trying to see the political landscape there"

"He does rule there, but I would call him a tyrant, rather than an emperor" Then his expression lit up, as if he suddenly remembered something "That reminds me that I forgot to update you, when he delivered the trackers Belos gave us a new message: He has something that can help us lure witches in"

"That's amazing!" But Marcus wasn't smiling "What happened?"

"He wants us to send the wild witch alongside a few of the unpetrified criminals in exchange for it"

"Didn't he say that we could keep them in our custody?"

"Either he changed his mind, or outright lied"

"Well I suppose we'll have to do it" Upon saying that Marcus frowned at him "What? It's not like we have much choice in the matter, and we were going to catch them in the first place. So what does it matter if we send them there? Better to give them to the right authorities"

"Hah Lad I'm going to forgive you this one for your lack of information. The truth is that we keep in contact with him because it's kinda hard to have information from a realm you can't travel to. But we will never hand him any of the witches we capture"

"And why not!?" Lawrence was starting to lose his patience with Marcus "We imprison the criminals and hand them to the one responsible for them and in exchange he helps us deal with this problem! It's the most effective way of minimizing casualties!"

"Well first because we don't have any guarantee that he will actually fulfill his end of the deal. Second we are not imprisoning them until we have determined if they are truly dangerous or not"

"I think that would be an easy task considering all the damage caused by magic" Lawrence commented dryly "But I don't understand if they are already criminals in their dimension, why are we giving them another trial?"

"Because this would be their first fair trial my boy"

"Huh?"

"I did say that Belos was a tyrant didn't I? His rule isn't fair and those who oppose him end up petrified" Lawrence took a moment to assimilate this information, he didn't fully trust the man he saw on the screen but he trusted the witches less.

"What do you mean when you say his rule is not fair?"

"He imposed a system that puts witches into nine covens and then assigned a type of magic for each coven, once a witch enters one their abilities are sealed forever and they won't be able to use any other kind of magic. Only those who serve the emperor directly on his coven get the privilege of fully using their magic, and those that refuse to enter a coven are casted away"

"Ok I get why that would make him really unpopular with them, but it doesn't sound so bad? He's just putting a new order in his world and besides I don't see the big deal in separating magic"

"Of course we can't comprehend that, we were born magicless. But for a creature born with those abilities it's something inconceivable: It's like if I asked you to only use one of your eyes or arms for the rest of your life" He sighed and looked at him with sadness on his eyes "Not to mention that the way he does things is even more questionable: He imposes his rule by strength and manipulation without actually caring for his subjects, those who go against it are killed, silenced, imprisoned, or petrified. That's not something you do even if you may argue that the goals are good"

"I see" Lawrence was meditative after hearing all of that.

"We will keep dealing with Belos out of necessity and we won't confront him directly because it won't end well. But we will not deliver him those witches, that's a fate I do not wish to anyone"

Lawrence nodded and he kept helping him with his paperwork in silence.

-Eda-

The Owl House, East Gravesfield / Monday July 26th 5:00 PM

"Edaaaaaa!" Luz scream came from upstairs and before she could brace herself a pair of skinny arms enveloped her in a hug "Oh my titan you came back so late! Are you ok? Did you have to do a lot today?"

"Okey Luz relax kiddo I am too tired for hugs" Eda gently pushed her away and then stretched her back making her bones crack "Bumpy had me delivering some stuff and I think he made me walk the long way around school in propouse"

"Are you okay? Is it too much? Maybe I could tag along with you and do some stuff, I'm the one that's going to school after all" Ever since Luz learnt her deal with Bump she developed an overprotective phase towards Eda. Luz said that she had done more than enough for her and shouldn't be pressing herself so much, it was cute, but it got annoying after a while.

"Luz we talked about this, I don't think that Bump would allow a minor to do all of this especially if you are going to be his student" She finally was able to properly enter the house and ,after leaving the groceries she had, let herself fall in the couch "Besides this is my burden: I was the one that did all of that crazy shit when I was you age, I do not regret it but with the years I've learned that you gotta pay for your mistakes"

"But you are basically doing an unpaid job! I should be able to help"

"You are helping enough here with the shop already" And Eda was surprised at that; Ever since she started helping the school staff to clean the messes that she left Luz had been managing the shop pretty much on her own. The work at the school consumed most of the time and energy that she had available for a day, so when she got home the only thing she wanted to see was the bathtub and her bed "Speaking of which, are you managing well here?"

"Oh yeah I really got this" She said with a smug wave that banished as soon as Eda glared suspiciously at her "Ok maybe I had some rough spots here and there but it's ok" Eda kept glaring as she deposited her bags in the kitchen "Ok well a lot of trouble when one lady kept insisting to see the manager, I did not know what to do so I stood there until she left"

"Oh yeah have fun with those, there is no way of getting rid of them unless you directly ban them from the shop" She started cleaning as she was speaking "anything else?"

"Well a customer tried to flirt with me" Luz admitted in an embarrassed tone with a slight blush on her cheeks.

"Oh really? Wow I wasn't expecting you to start bringing boys so soon, we'll need to set some rules for that" Eda couldn't help the mocking grin spreading on her face.

"You don't have to worry about that at all" Luz was in a panicked state "I already told him I'm not interested"

"Dang, where's your sense of adventure?" Then an idea came to her and her grin grew wider "Well if this becomes a common occurrence it could be beneficial for the shop"

"What?"

"Think about it: If you use your charms to lure customers in, you won't have to be a cashier anymore! I know how much you hate it" Maybe this was a bit too much but Eda needed it after the long day she had, and she was delighted upon seeing Luz exasperated reactions "In fact I can give you some fashion tips to make it even easier for you, you'll have the boys and girls eating up from your hand in no time"

"No Eda stop!"

"Really, you don't want to? I think I have a maid outfit over here somewhere" Now obviously she would never do such a thing (especially to a minor) and she was fairly certain that Luz knew that, but her reactions were so funny that she couldn't resist teasing her.

"Aghhhhhh!" Luz banged her head against one of the sofa's pillows.

"Ok I'll stop. Why don't you go and feed king while I prepare dinner"

*Mphh mmhh!* Luz's words came muffled from the pillow and Eda rolled her eyes.

"Luz get your head out of that pillow to talk, I can't hear a darn thing!"

"I said that I could do it if it's ok. You have been doing the stuff in the school for me so you should go ahead and take a bath Eda!"

"Are you sure? You never cooked alone before"

"Yeah but you already taught me how in these past weeks" She had a hopeful smile on her face so Eda chose to trust her.

"Fine, but if the kitchen catches fire again I will be seriously considering the maid outfit"

Luz shuddered and ran towards the kitchen in a full sprint. Eda merely rolled her eyes and started to prepare her bath, a part of her was worried that it would be too much for her but she was really tired so she decided to ignore that part. A relaxing bath was just what she needed and she felt so good afterwards that she wanted to go straight to bed, but the smell of cooked food made her stomach growl.

"Wait a second, cooked food? Not burnt?"

She immediately dashed downstairs grabbing the fire extinguisher on her way just in case. As Eda went downstairs she distinguished the smell of a meat stew, she remembered cooking something similar for Luz and it wasn't something really elaborate but dang it smelled good. When she arrived at the kitchen she found that there wasn't anything out of order and the meal was almost ready.

"Oh hey Eda, are you done?" Luz was stirring a pot with a big smile "I already fed King and this is almost done, come on grab a plate!"

With a dumbfounded face Eda wordlessly grabbed a plate and went to the living room to watch Luz set the table. She was marveled by this because the teen hated doing chores and was usually really bad at it, Eda suspected that after a lifetime of doing things with magic she wouldn't have much experience with manual labor. While Luz brought food to the dinner Eda reflected on how much she changed in the past three weeks since she crashed in her car: Even though she got used to the TV really quickly most of the technological stuff used to frighten her, but now she uses her phone and the internet on a daily basis. Eda was dreading the moment when she accidentally enters a porn site, because she knows it will happen at some point, but she refuses to give Luz that particular talk "I am not her mother, there are limits to what a legal guardian can do and this is one of those". The first days she was extremely overwhelmed by all the sounds of the city to the point of refusing to leave the house (she keeps assuring her that witches have better hearing than humans) but now she is pretty much used to those, and now she even started cooking! Really this kid impressed her, not that she would ever say that to her face.

"Dang kid this smells really good! Wait, what are those? I don't remember buying these" She said pointing at some spices she saw on the table.

"Oh these are from Willow! You know my friend. Her family is really into plants and they grew these! She gave me a free sample and told me that I should try cooking with them"

"Agh really? Are you going to start with the whole 'organic' stuff too? My sister tried to force me to do that once she went vegan"

"Ah come on Eda, just give it a try. I promise it tastes good"

"Fine" Eda smiled and grabbed a spoonful to try and then.

Her whole body froze.

"Oh geez, not now!"

A sense of pain shot throughout all of her body and the last thing she heard before losing consciousness was Luz's panicked screams.

Two hours later

Eda woke up with all of her body feeling sore, a feeling she was quite used to. Checking at her surroundings she could tell that she was laying down in her bed without her PJs, and the darkness outside the window told her that it was much later than before. She got up with a groan and all of her muscles ached in protest, forgetting her medicine at home had been a bad move.

Looking around she saw that Luz was passed out in a chair besides her bed lightly snoring. Eda immediately felt bad for her: She surely must've panicked really hard when she saw her collapse, looking around she saw her pills in the stand next to her and went to grab them.

Only for a sharp sense of pain course throughout her whole body.

She gasped and clenched her teeth, yep forgetting her pills this morning definitely had been a bad idea. Eda attempted to call for Luz but she couldn't find her voice due to the pain she was feeling, after a few tries she decided to toss her alarm clock to her. The throw was weak due to her weakened state but it had the intended effect.

"Uff" She exclaimed when the device hit her "Ha, Who? Wha? What 's happening? These are not my natural ears, what are you talking about?"

Luz half asleep rambling might've been fun to listen to in another situation but right now she had other priorities. She waved her hand to call her attention and the dark-skinned girl's gaze focused on her.

"Eda! Oh my titan, you're awake!" She jumped from her chair and rushed towards her side with tears on her eyes "Iwassoworriedthatsomethingmight'vehappenedtoyousoIcalled thisnumberthatwasonyourfridgeandtheguytoldemeto-"

"Easy Kid, slow down" Her voice was hoarse and barely a whisper, but somehow Luz managed to understand her "Before anything else, please give me the pills that are in the stand please"

Luz wordlessly passed them to her while sobbing, it was slow but she managed to swallow them. After drinking a glass of water and being able to go to the bathroom (Luz helped her get there but she refused to let her go inside with her) Eda felt a lot better, she looked at Luz while she sat on her bed and sighed.

"So… I feel like I owe you an explanation for that" Luz wasn't crying anymore but her eyes were red and filled with worry "Well it's a long story, but the short version is that I'm sick"

"Wha- *sniff* I-I don't understand! You were looking fine one second, and then you collapsed!" Luz was really worried about her so Eda assumed it was fair to tell her the truth.

"It's not something that happens for a short time like a cold or an allergy, it's something more… Erratic" Talking about her illness was always hard for her but she made an effort "It's what we humans call a 'chronic disease', something that has no known cure and it sticks with you for a long time. It's complicated to explain but the main issue here is that you don't know when (or even if) you'll get better, all I have to mitigate it are those pills and some injections''

"But we've been living together for weeks! And I haven't seen you in bed or coughing, or looking weak for that matter! Titan, you are even stronger than me!"

"Well what can I say? Being a con artist is a work out on its own" She flexed her muscles to prove her point. Eda's Lifestyle was actually really active and she did a lot of physical exercise (More than the recommended amount for someone her age and condition according to the doctors but pfft, what do they know) and she was in a good shape.

But Luz wasn't amused by that.

"Eda this is serious! I thought you died!"

"Ok fine, I'll stop" She sighed. Dealing with her illness has always been relatively easy for Eda, but dealing with people worrying for her was hard "Even though I have this… condition all the time it's not always active and it's not always hurting me. It happens in sporadic attacks: In one second I feel extreme pain and I pass out after that. I need my medicine then because my organs start to deteriorate and malfunction, don't worry it would take almost a day with me in that state to get there. I can wake up and take my medicine on my own but as you've seen I'm really weak when it happens"

"But I don't understand. Why didn't you tell me about this?"

"Well I usually got it handled on my own, I've been dealing with this shit for almost three decades and I had a good streak of ´days without accidents´going on" Specifically it had been more than a month since her last issue "Also I did not tell you this sooner because… Well if I'm being honest with you I wasn't expecting you to be here this long, not that I'm complaining"

"Yes but, didn't you think that maybe I could've helped you?"

"What would you do that I haven't tried already? Seriously kid, you shouldn't worry about this" The truth is that Eda didn't want to share this with anyone. Whenever she told people that she had a chronic disease they would look at her with pity on their eyes and would feel bad for her, she didn't want that.

"Maybe but…" Luz was meditative for a second "I want to know about your illness, is it common?"

"Not at all, in fact the doctors do not know what it is" She remembered those first years with her mother once her illness kicked in. All of those doctors, all of those specialists, all of those miracle-workers, all of those healers.

All for nothing.

"Do you remember how you got it?"

"Not at all, I was in gym class on school when it first happened, and I didn't do anything special on that day"

"Does it happen often?"

"It did at the beginning and they were way worse, I even developed some sort of amnesia that didn't let me remember the moments prior to an attack. Then the years passed and it somehow got mild: The doctors said it was because my body might've adapted to it and some even said I was cured, during my twenties I barely had any attacks. Then they came back as I grew older. The diagnosis is that my body doesn't have the strength to fight it back anymore and that is backed up by my hair: It started becoming grey way earlier than most people (I gave up on trying to dye it when I was 29) and after that my sickness become way more frequent"

"Hmm" Luz started to mutter to herself while stroking her chin.

"Hey kid what's going on? You can't just ask me all of that only to remain silent afterwards" Eda flickered her nose as a way of reclaiming her attention.

"Ow! Sorry, I was just thinking…"

"About what?"

"About how can I help you"

"Oh don't worry about this the pain almost faded away, I'll just need to keep having those pills and maybe a short trip to the doctor so he can give me my injection" She also should tell Luz what to do if something like this happens again, because the kid was right on that "If you want to help me you can bring me some food, I haven't eaten anything yet"

"Oh yeah I will bring you some food, I didn't eat either, but I was wondering how I can cure your disease with magic" When Eda looked at her incredulously she shrugged "There are a lot of healing spells and an entire coven dedicated to that. I might not be the best at it, I can only heal superficial wounds, but I'm pretty sure there's someone in the boiling isles that can heal you"

"Not this again. Kiddo I appreciate your help but I'm done with trying to find a cure for this. My mom tried everything that she could but nothing worked and then she went with 'alternative medicines' that never truly worked, I spent most of my teens from hospital to hospital" and that was one of the main reasons why she had ran away: If she truly was in danger of dying at any second, then what was the point of spending the little time she had inside of places that treated her like she was already dead? All of these doctors had told her she had only a few months to live with a pitiful look on their eyes, well if that was the case she was going to do whatever she wanted with whoever she wanted and everyone else can fuck off! And now after three decades she was still kicking, Eda would love to see the reaction of the guy that diagnosed her.

"Yeah and I get that but we have a whole world of magical free healthcare! At least let me contact one specialist once I recover the staff"

"Fine, just one"

"Good now stay here and I'll bring you the food, oh and also there's no way I'm letting you go back to school and do all of those chores"

"What? But-"

"Up-bup, no buts! I know you don't want to tell your old professor about this and it's ok, but I think you've done enough to cover for the stuff you did all of those years ago"

"Are you trying to parent me?" Eda was having a hard time to believe what she was hearing.

"Yep! Now go back to bed and I'll bring you soup in a bit. You should rest tomorrow so I'll handle the shop, don't worry I will contact you if something happens"

As Luz closed the door Eda smiled to herself.

-Hunter-

A motel in Connecticut / Wednesday July 28th 9:00 AM

Hunter woke up feeling better than he had felt since they arrived in this pathetic realm. For once it seemed that they finally lost the local authorities who were searching for them since their last raid. Then a miracle happened: Wrath finally realized that Abigail wasn't interested on him so he stopped taking her side on things, he still underestimated Hunter but at least now it didn't feel like he was arguing against two people all the time. Abigail wasn't fully healed yet because none of the magical items they found had any healing properties so she returned to her usual grumpy behavior and kept saying that they should just rush towards the known location of the wild witch because surely she had the remains of the staff but luckily he and Wrath managed to talk her down.

Thinking about the wild witch made him frown: It had been almost two weeks since she appeared in the crystal ball and so far they have made zero progress on that matter, he had been able to pinpoint the town she was supposedly at. The problem was that the last time she was seen by any human was the fight with the giant plant, anything else other than that have been just rumors and speculations and Hunter knew better than to trust those. The three of them decided that they would wait until she made a big move again to attack her, because she could've flown away for all they knew.

Hunter shaked his head to distract himself from those thoughts and focused on the reason why today was a special day: They were going to start experimenting with new artifacts. Yesterday the three of them had raided another facility and this time they actually managed to sneak past the humans and steal artifacts (and a little bit of money, they were running low on that) without being noticed! Wrath was actually helpful this time, once the big guy stopped trying to give Abigail everything she wanted he became way more bearable.

They came back home way too late last night so they decided that it was better to wait for today.

"This is going to be fine" He told himself, looking at the mirror "This is an important step to go back to the boiling isles and prove to the emperor that you are capable"

He was about to join the other two in breakfast but something in his voice weirded him out, he tried vocalizing a couple more sounds until he was completely sure. After a while he made a little jump in victory and celebrated.

"Finally! My voice changed!"

He had been in the Emperor's coven ever since he was 13 and he was known and teased for his annoying teen voice, he had been expecting this since his last birthday when he turned eighteen, and now it truly happened! No one is going to tease him again for his voice ever!

"Yes! Today is going to be a great day!"

Hunter finished cleaning up, got dressed and then joined the other two in the common area. Abigail was already researching one of the artifacts in the table and Wrath was munching on a cereal bowl in the sofa, the gray demon waved his hand at him but the female witch ignored him.

He was making his breakfast when Abigail let out a joyful scream and fisted the air.

"Hah, nailed one! Hey you two, check this out!" She said while pointing at the orange belt with animal sigils she was wearing "I figured one of these guys out, and it's just the thing I needed!"

"Did you find a healing relic?" Wrath inquired as he got closer to the table.

"Well technically no, this one doesn't heal but instead increases the user's body capabilities. The speed, strength, stamina, and resistance get enhanced. I think that might also include natural regeneration? I don't know but I'm going to wear this from now on to see if I get better"

"Interesting. I think that based on the color and the sigils it's safe to assume it belonged to the beast-keeping coven" Hunter was already grabbing his notebook to write it down but a noise made him look up.

Wrath was choking with his food while he gave Hunter an astonished look, Abigail for her part was just staring at him with an open mouth. Hunter realized that they just heard his new voice and were surprised by it. With a smug smile he took a sip of his juice and looked at them with an air of superiority.

"You- Did you just" Abigail pointed at him with a confused expression.

"Oh, did something happen? Did you notice something different with me?" Hunter's ego was bigger than ever.

Nothing happened for a moment but then Abigail bursted out laughing and Wrath emitted a slight chuckle. Hunter did not know what was happening so he waited until she was done laughing.

"Wha- what in the titan happened to your voice? Are you faking it?"

"What? No I'm not!"

"It sounds cool" Wrath gave him a thumbs up.

"Oh, are you for real? The baby is finally growing? Wait until I Tell the others in the castle, they'll be sad that mister squeaky voice is gone!"

"Oh come on! You used to complain about my "annoying voice" all the time, and now you are saying you'll miss it?"

"Well we've been hearing it for years and I have to admit that now it sounds kinda weird, but I guess we will get used to it in time" Wrath looked at him with a sympathetic face.

Hunter puffed and went to have breakfast on the sofa, trust these two to ruin a good start of the day. He was too annoyed to work on the relics so he just turned on the flat crystal ball and switched the channels randomly as he ate.

"Going live from gravesfield with John, we have information of a second sighting of the magical girl who is now being nicknamed 'wild witch' by the local people. John, do you copy?"

He almost had a heart attack and accidentally dropped the remote, Hunter looked around hoping that the other two didn't hear that but to no avail. Wrath was choking on his food again with a surprised look on his face and Abigail had the tic on her mouth that always appeared whenever they mentioned the wild witch.

"That's right Grant, people have been crazy these last two weeks after we saw 'the wild witch' fight against what seemed to be a monstrous plant. Mass media was quick to dismiss this as a fake and several videos started analyzing the footage and pointing up all of the evidence of it being special effects made up by a computer. However that didn't stop the wave of geeks and fanatics that rushed to discuss this online and spread rumors. They made urban legends, fanfiction, animation videos, and even memes about this stuff. But that's all that it's been: Rumors, well until now"

"Yes, can you tell us a little bit more about the recent incident, John?"

"Of course Grant: Last night a bar fight ensued in the east part of the town and one person in particular dominated the encounter. It was unclear who he was because the fighter was wearing a hood over his head, but he was able to win in a fight with other customers that got drunk and decided to throw a bottle at him. The incredible part of this story is that they were nine fighting against him and all of them were armed with knives, but all of them ended up with serious injuries and broken bones"

"Did someone try to contact the authorities or stop them?"

"Well the owner of the establishment didn't dare to intervene because they were from a notorious gang, other customers did contact the police but they arrived too late to the scene"

"And how does this relate to the wild witch?"

"She appeared to intervene with the fight, according to eyewitnesses there were only three members remaining from the nine that started the fight, the others were on the ground and most of them unconcious, they were trying to run but their opponent gave them chase. When it looked like it was going to be over for them the wild witch appeared flying from nowhere and stopped the fight by imprisoning everyone with her spells and then she fled the scene. The police couldn't find the mysterious man afterwards but according to the people in the scene, he couldn't stop screaming 'wild witch' once she appeared, and that's where her new nickname comes from"

"Cool story, but did you say eyewitnesses? Didn't they have a camera on the bar or in the street? Can we see the footage of the wild witch?"

"Unfortunately Grant all of the cameras in the vicinity were unable to record due to a malfunction"

"A malfunction you say? What a crazy coincidence. Now folks if this doesn't seem like a set up to you I don't know…" With that the news guy started arguing why this story was fake and Hunter stopped paying attention. He turned around to see that Abigail had a determined expression on her face.

"Wrath, gather all of our supplies and find a place to safekeep all of our magical relics, we are taking some with us but not all of them. Hunter, you've been investigating this area, find us a way to travel to that city safely and a new place to stay" She hardly ever used his real name so Hunter knew she was serious.

He groaned and buried his face in the couch.

"Today is going to be horrible…"

Woo Hoo I made it!

Now with the sad news: I started college again so my update time will be slower, instead of doing one chapter every two or three weeks, it can take up to three weeks or a month (Or at least I will try to, depending on a lot of random stuff the chapters could come earlier or later)

Also my appointment with the doctor for my fingers got postponed, I'm sad : (

I wanna use this part to interact with you guys (This is also a way to check if anyone ever reads this part of the chapter) and I thought of a cool question: Which coven would you like to belong to? You can mix them if you want! I would go with abominations and construction covens, I would make some cool golems.
