A few days have passed since Bruce returned from Ecruteak City. Professor Cerise was surprised that Bruce came with two Pokemon in tow, in the form of Eevee and Houndour. Since then, the aspiring pokémon trainer at the age of 26 has been training his Pokemon diligently.
This was mainly because his first Pokemon battle in the world coronation series was coming up, and he needed to be prepared, as he wasn't experienced like the other trainers in the contest!
"Are you sure you're ready for your upcoming battle. This will be the first Pokemon battle you've ever participated in."said Professor Cerise, who was worried about his colleague.
"The only way I'm ever going to get any better in pokémon balloting is actual experience. This individual I'm facing it's also in the normal class. So I think we'll be on an even playing field."said Bruce, who had just finished training Eevee and Sobble!
"If you say so. Just be careful."said Professor Cerise, wanting his colleague to be careful when, as this was his first Pokemon battle.
"I know every move that Sobble, Zubat, Eevee, and Houndour have at their disposal. I also came up with several simulations in my head on how the battle will turn out. But the only way I'm going to improve as a Pokemon trainer is to face actual battle. Now is my time, and my Pokemon's time. I can't afford to mess this up."said Bruce to himself, studying his nerves as he got into his the room he has been using at the laboratory as his bedroom.
He quickly changed out of his lab coat and changed into another outfit. He now on a black hoodie jacket over a black polo shirt. He then placed on black pants over his legs. He then proceeded to put on black and red sneakers with white soles on his feet. He then placed a single strap black backpack around his back. And finally, he placed a black baseball cap on his head.
"I don't know why, but black hasalways been my color."said Bruce to himself, before he headed out of the lab.
"Let's see... how do I look for my opponent who calls himself Samurai."said Bruce, knowing he was supposed to meet up with his opponent somewhere in Vermillion City.
He figured that the figure who calls himself Samurai would be hard to find. But Bruce didn't have to look far as he quickly saw a young boy wearing samurai armor looking like he was looking for someone.
'I think that is my opponent.' thought Bruce to himself, who decided to approach the young man to see if he was the person he was supposed to face.
"Excuse me, are you Samurai?"inquired Bruce, just as he approached the young man!
"So you are my first opponent in the normal class! I am Samurai! I'm a bug type expert who will be the monarch of this competition!"said the boy, identifying himself as Samurai!
"So you're my first step in the World Coronation Series."said Bruce, went out of nowhere a rotom announcer appeared.
"I will observe your battle in the World Coronation Series. The winner will move up in the normal class."said the rotom announcer.
"So this is how they keep score of who is in the World Coronation Series. Fascinating.."said Bruce, fascinated by the system.
"Yes! Only through battle with our pokémon get stronger! And only through combat can our Pokemon grow as individuals! Let us battle!"said Samurai was confidence, just as he pulled out a pokeball.
"A two on to work for you?"inquired Bruce, while pulling out a pokeball.
"That is completely fine by me!"said Samurai, agreeing to Bruce's terms.
"Then let the battle begin! three... two... one... Release your Pokemon and battle!"declared the rotom announcer, signaling that the battle was about to start.
"Hey, a Pokemon battle!"shouted a nearby little kid.
"Let's go and watch."said a nearby old man who was sitting on a bench.
That is when a small crowd of people formed around Bruce and Samurai. Bruce for some reason was uncomfortable with a crowd, but he quickly got over it, as he realized that he had a battle to focus on. And he couldn't afford to make any mistakes as this was his first battle ever!
"Sobble, I choose you!"shouted Bruce, calling out the water lizard Pokemon for battle!
"Sobb!"said the water lizard Pokemon, ready to fight.
"Butterfree, I choose you!"shouted Samurai, who threw his pokeball and called out some kind of butterfly Pokemon
"Butter!"said the butterfly like pokémon.
"Who's that pokémon?"inquired Bruce as he pulled out his pokédex app.
(Pokedex: Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokémon. A bug and flying type. Butterfree's love of flower nectar draws it to seek out flowers, even if they don't have much pollen)
"I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from a bug type expert."said Bruce with confidence, with Sobble letting out a Battle cry.
"Let's us begin! Butterfree, use tackle!"ordered Samura!, causing the butterfly pokémon to fly towards the water lizard Pokemon with the intention of tackling it!
"Dodge it!"ordered Bruce, causing Sobble to quickly jump out of the way.
"Use water gun!"ordered Bruce, causing the water lizard Pokemon to take a deep breath before he shot up blast of water towards Butterfree!
"Use gust!"order Samurai, causing the butterfly Pokemon to quickly flap its wings that a rapid pace, preventing water gun from striking.
"Using an attack move as a defense, not bad."said Bruce, making a mental note of that.
"Yes! I'll show you what I made of! Butterfree, use confusion!"ordered Samurai, causing Butterfree's eyes glow blue.
Sobble was confused before he became outlined in a similarly colored aura. It then uses psychic powers to move Sobble in the air!
"Use water gun and hit it in the face!"ordered Bruce, causing the water lizard Pokemon to take in another deep breath before he shot at Butterfree using water gun!
The butterfly pokémon was struck in the face, causing it to lose focus and let go of Sobble!
"Use pound!"ordered Bruce, causing the water lizard Pokemon to use the Free falling motion of its body to add more power to its pound attack, striking the butterfly pokémon and doing damage!
"Butterfree!"shouted Samurai with concern.
"Use bind!"ordered Bruce, deciding not to give up on the relentless attacks, by having Sobble wrap his tail around Butterfree, before squeezing and doing damage!
"Butter!"said Butterfree, trying to break free.
"Use water gun and finish this!"ordered Bruce, causing the water lizard Pokemon to unleash the water type attack from up close, striking the butterfly Pokemon and knocking it towards its trainer, as soon as Sobble let go.
That is when the butterfly Pokemon fell towards its trainer's legs, and it was revealed to have been knocked out!
"Butterfree!"shouted Samurai, unable to believe that his Butterfree had been defeated.
"Butterfree is unable to battle. Meaning this part of The Battle belongs to Bruce and Sobble!"declare the rotom announcer, acting as referee.
"Good job, Butterfree. Take a nice long rest."said Samurai, as he recalled the butterfly pokémon back to its pokeball.
"You take a nice long rest too, Sobble."said Bruce before recalling the water lizard Pokemon back to his pokeball.
"It's not over yet. This pokémon can turn it around."said Samurai with confidence, just as he pulled out another pokeball.
"Let's see how this battle goes."said Bruce as he pulled out another pokeball.
"Pinsir, I choose you!"said samurai as he called out some kind of stag beetle like pokémon.
"Who's that pokémon?"said Bruce, once again pulling out his pokedex app to identify the pokémon in front of him.
(Pokedex: Pinsir, the Stag Beetle Pokémon. A Bug type. When Pinsir's horns clamp onto an opponent, they won't release until it's defeated)
"It looks strong."said Bruce, sensing a strong Aura from this Pinsir.
"Yes! Pinsir is my strongest Pokemon! Let's see how you handle him!"said Samurai with confidence.
"Zubat, I choose you!"said Bruce, calling out the bat Pokemon for battle.
"Zu!"said the bat Pokemon, ready to throw down.
"So you challenge my bug type with a flying type. As expected."said Samurai, who is ready to show this trainer in front of him what Pinsir was capable of!
"Zubat, use astonish!"ordered Bruce, causing the bat pokémon to turn around before he struck Pinsir with the Ghost type move, doing damage!
"Use vise grip!"ordered samurai, making the stag beetle Pokemon quickly recover before he tried to attack Zubat with vise grip.
"Dodge it!"ordered Bruce, causing the bat pokémon to fly up into the air to avoid getting struck with vice grip!
"So fast!"said Samurai, who sounded impressed.
"Use absorb!"ordered Bruce, calling Zubat to absorb some energy from the stag beetle Pokemon, causing a little damage!
"Ha! A grass type move will never do super effective damage against the bug type! Now let's see how you handle bind!"orders Samurai, causing the stag beetle Pokemon to try to bind Zubat with the normal type move.
"Use astonish!"ordered Bruce, causing Zubat to once again strike Pinsir with the Ghost type move, making the stag beetle Pokemon flinch!
"Oh no!"said Samurai, realizing that he had just left his Pokemon vulnerable to a opening attack!
"Use wing attack!"ordered Bruce, causing Zubat's wings to begin glowing with flying type energy before he flew over at the stag beetle pokémon and struck him with a super effective move, causing a lot of damage!
"Pin!"said the stag beetle pokémon as he was pushed back.
"Use wing attack again and finish this!"ordered Bruce, causing the bat Pokemon to quickly fly in and strike Pinsir again with wing attack, causing a lot of damage!
The stag beetle Pokemon then fell on his trainer's feet, where it was revealed that he had been knocked out!
"Pinsir!"said Samurai, unable to believe that his strongest pokémon had been defeated.
"Pinsir is unable to battle! Meaning battle battle and the one moving up in the normal class will be Bruce Wayne!"declared the Rotom announcer, causing Bruce to check his rotom phone.
It was there that it was revealed that his number had been moved from number 1,939 to 989!
"Wow, I really went up."said Bruce, but he knew that he was still far off from the Masters 8!
"You did a really good job, Pinsir. Take a nice long rest."said Samurai, as he recalled the stag beetle Pokemon to his pokeball.
"I must say I was hoping for an easy victory with you being the first time trainer. But it's clear to me you have enough natural talent and trust in your Pokemon. I must work hard to regain my position!"said Samurai, who decided to be a good sport by shaking Bruce's hand.
"Until we meet again."said Bruce, returning the friendly shake of hands.
"You better get better, cuz the next time we meet I will not lose!"said Samurai with confidence.
"Don't bet on it."said Bruce, accepting Samurai's challenge.
"Wow, who is that trainer?"said one of the people in the crowd.
"I don't know, but he's strong."said another person in the crowd.
"I hope I can see him soon in other battles."said a third person from the crowd.
"Hmm.. I have a feeling he'll be going places."said an individual from the crowd, causing everyone to turn to look at him.
This caused many people in the crowd to look over and see a band with spiky yellow hair was the one who said that final comment. He was wearing what appear to be a military field uniform. Many people of the crowd immediately recognized him.
"Lt Surge!"said several people of the crowd, recognizing the Vermillion City Gym leader.
"I can't wait until he gets to the great class so I can challenge him!"said the Vermillion City Gym leader, before he walked away.
Bruce mean well did not notice this man one bit, as he was too busy congratulating Zubat and Sobble for a job well done.
"I have a feeling someone was watching me... and he was strong."said Bruce, who although did not hear Lt Surge, he could feel someone strong watching him from the crowd.
He didn't know it yet, but the two of them would meet in the near future during the World Coronation Series!
The only question was Will Bruce be ready to face an opponent at the level of a gym leader?!
