Chapter 1. An Awkward Encounter

Disclaimer: I do not own naruto and this is a fanfic. This is a one shot fanfic based on another fanfic Titled "Tempered in Water" by HitokiriOTD. Unfortunately, Hitokiri-San Never continued his masterpiece. Before you read this I suggest that you read his work first. No I am not attempting to pick off where he left, this is just something I imagined after reading his work. Although, I do hope Hitokiri-Sama finishes it someday or someone picks it up and continues it. so this is a fem haku x naruto by the way.

After the failed Sasuke retrieval mission, the 5th Hokage decided that it would be best to give her genin and haku, her newest kunoichi a break for them to lighten up and unwind. So she decides to give them vouchers for a Hotspring resort trip.

When she was first brought in by naruto she was put on probation by the third hokage, but since Tsunade was now in-charge, she lifted haku's probation and made her an official citizen and kunoichi of konoha. She decided that this is the least she can do for her as she did assist Naruto and Jiraiya in their mission of retrieving her. Not only that, Tsunade has also witnessed her skills first hand when she was able to go toe-to-toe with kabuto during their fight with Orochimaru. Knowing also that Naruto was being targeted by the akatsuki and that she was clearly attached to him, it was best to keep such a skilled shinobi around Naruto as additional protection.

Sakura intended to have some alone time with Haku because she wanted to talk to her in private. She wanted to thank her for all the times she's helped them from the chuunin exams when konoha was attacked by oto and suna and up to the Sasuke retrieval mission. She also feels bad for disliking her and that she wanted to get closer to her and maybe become friends, now that she has been officially made a ninja and part of team 7.

Inside the womens bath:

Sakura introduced Haku with the other two kunoichi's which were Ino and Hinata.

Hinata and Ino looked at each other, surprised about the revelation.

Ino: Wha..What! Naruto? Living with a Girl? Seriously!? How did this happen?

Hinata: She..She's Living with naruto-kun "Hinata says while having a sad expression"

Sakura: He.. He.. It's quite a long story we can talk about it some other time. right now we should just enjoy the moment.

Ino: Yeah Whatever.

They all went in the warm water and dipped their bodies in. There were four separate hotsprings Ino decided to take the one in the front right while Hinata decided she wanted the one on the top left. Sakura and haku took the top right.

Sakura: Well since we're team mates now, I thought it'd be nice if we talked more and maybe it'll help us more on our team work. Plus, I..I.. really wanna thank you for all the help you give us and I've been thinking of saying sorry to you for not liking you the first time. I..I hope you don't hate me or anything do you?. "Sakura says nervously"

Haku: I wonder How Naruto-samma is doing right now.."She thinks to herself"

Sakura cuts her off.

Sakura: You're thinking about Naruto aren't you? well I'm sure he's having the time of his life, you should have fun too I'm sure he'd say the same to you if he saw you like that.

Haku just looked at her expressionless and went back to staring blankly. So Sakura decided to get straight to the point.

Sakura: Haku well..I..Uh wanted to talk to you alone.

Haku: You wish to speak to me?

Sakura: Well Ye..yeah "she said nervously while haku is staring at her listening with a blank expression"

Haku raised her brow at sakura's statement and question. There was something about sakura that annoyed her she couldn't quite put her finger in it. She never liked her because of how she treated Naruto but somehow there was more to it.. She feels uncomfortable when she sees how Naruto interacts with Sakura.The thought of dragging Naruto away from Sakura has crossed her mind many times but is unable to do so because she knew Naruto would probably be mad at her and she didn't want Naruto-Samma getting angry at her..

Haku looked at Sakura rather coldly and responded:

Haku: It doesn't concern me how you feel about me. so no need for apologies I am merely taking part in this team so that I can be with Naruto-samma. I do not exactly hate you however, to be honest I do not exactly like you either, especially with how you have treated Naruto-samma so far. Naruto-Samma does not deserve such treatment from you especially after everything he's done for you and that precious uchiha boy of yours. "Says Haku in an agitated tone"

Sakura's eyes widened as she realizes what haku is trying to say.. she lowers her head in guilt knowing full well about how naruto felt about her but, cannot deny that she loves sasuke.

Sakura: I..I'm sorry Haku, I really am bu..but I really love Sasuke-Kun and I have to be honest about this. I know you care for Naruto very much and you know it will only hurt him more if I lied to him.. Look I know it's my fault that's why he got hurt trying to bring back Sasuke-Kun. It's because I made him promise me he would but, please I do hope you can forgive me.. "Sakura says with a depressed tone and expression"

Haku: I cannot accept your apology as of now. You are the very reason why Naruto-Samma is in so much suffering, you and that blind obsession of yours towards that Uchiha boy. " Haku says in an agitated tone"

Haku's expression now shifted to a furious one. Sakura can feel her killing intent. It wasn't like when they first fought her in the land of waves. Now, she was really serious. Sakura can feel shivers down her spine she was dipped in a hotspring yet she felt cold. Haku then spoke.

Haku: I despise that Uchiha with every fiber of my being! I should've killed him the first time we fought. Naruto-Samma has shown him kindness he is his precious person he saved him multiple times and what does he do in return!? He betrays him, he leaves him! worse he tried to kill him! I want to kill him myself!.

Sakura was now trembling she felt like she was suffocating she wanted to scream but she couldn't she wanted to get away from Haku but her feet won't move..It was so cold..so cold..

Haku realized what was happening so, she closed her eyes and calmed herself down.

Sakura felt lighter again the cold disappeared and began to feel the warmth of the hotspring water again.

Haku felt a little bad for what happened she doesn't like sakura but not enough that she wants to kill her.

Haku: I apologize I shouldn't have let my emotions run rampant like that..

Sakura: I..It's okay I can totally get why you're upset.she says with a sigh.." she says with a sigh of relief"

Haku: I prefer it if we don't talk about the uchiha boy. Even if it is to my dismay I will still support Naruto-Samma in his goal of bringing back that boy. He is still Naruto-Samma's precious person and I know it will cause him more suffering if I did something to harm the boy "she says in a calm tone"

Sakura smiles a bit hearing what haku said and was relieved that haku wasn't going to kill him as long as Naruto still sees him as a friend.

Sakura now thought it'd be a good Idea to change the subject not after she felt her killing intent. that'd probably add as motivation to act nicer to Naruto from now on.

Sakura: So, What do you think of our team maybe we can work out formation and team jutsu's and stuff.

Haku: "Sighs" I will be blunt with you. The way you are now you are more of a liabilty than you are of being useful. Frankly, I would rather have a team with only Naruto-Samma and me. Not, only do you risk failing missions but you also risk endangering Naruto-Samma. Both Naruto-Samma and the Uchiha boy have grown drastically since our first encounter in the land of waves while you have barely improved at all. I suggest that you train harder and get strong if you ever hope to become a useful team member. "Haku says in a cold manner"

Sakura was wide-eyed with a horrified expression after hearing what haku said. she frowned and turned her head down..she wanted to cry but, she does her best to hold her tears she doesn't want to look anymore pathetic than what haku already makes her out to be.

Haku sees this and "sighs" she felt bad she didn't even know what came over her. she knew she had to be blunt, she didn't want her endangering Naruto and failing their missions but this really wasn't how she is supposed to deliver it. Somehow, her instincts weren't at rest with Sakura.

Haku: If you want you are free to join me and Naruto-Samma in our training sessions..

Sakura rubs her eyes and her face brightens up a bit.

Sakura: R..really?

Haku just gave her a nodd

Sakura: Th.thank you! I will do my best I promise I will get stronger.

Haku closes her eyes and sinks her body deeper and relaxes. Sakura does the same and both were just taking the time to relax. easing their minds when suddenly a blond kunoichi suddenly appears in front of them and catches them both by surprise..It was Ino Yamanaka.

Sakura: Ino you Pig! why'd you sneak up on us like that?

Ino: Well I couldn't help it, you both looked so serious and I was getting kinda bored "Ino says with a smirk on her face"

Ino: So what were you guys talking about and why so serious anyway?

Sakura: It's none of your business! we were just talking about team stuff..

Ino: Oh come on! don't be like that billboard brow. Besides, I wanna meet our new kunoichi here "She looks at haku with a smile"

So yeah I wrote this out of my Imagination as a possible what if scenario had Hitokiri-San continued his master piece. the fanfic "Tempered in water" which this was inspired from ended around the forest of death stage, Chunnin-Exams. if you guys are wondering why I made the plot of this fanfic centered after the sasuke retrieval mission, well it's because everything after that arc were all fillers arcs. So, It's the best way to insert an author's idea without actually altering the main storyline. It was hinted in Chapter 5 Tempered in water that haku was indeed feeling some sort of jealousy towards sakura but haku was not able to answer it back then. and yeah I made this as awkward as possible since Sakura didn't like haku at first because she felt insecured by her. but now, she tries to be as close to her as possible. I really did my best so that this story would align well as a possible scenario that could be inserted in Hitokiri-San's work..
