Theseus smiles as he greets the MACUSA Head Auror to his office. "Welcome to the British Ministry of Magic." Tina took her time scanning around Theseus' office, quietly awing at the artwork and antiques that decorated the room. "You bit of a collector yourself?" Tina genuinely asked. Theseus shrugged, "Sometimes missions lead you to strange, but memorable, places."
"How's being reinstated as Auror and rising to Head Auror of MACUSA?"
"It feels…great. Far better than being a Wand Permit Officer. I get to actually do something now," Tina answers as her eyes sparkle a little. She must really love her job, Theseus thinks.
"So, Mr Scamander," Tina starts, and only continues when she sees the way Theseus' eyebrow rises, interested. "What calls me to your office? We haven't met since Paris, after all…." Her voice fades, and a soft pink begins to coat her cheeks. Theseus has the urge to laugh, but he keeps it in. "Firstly, call me Theseus. You're my brother's…," Theseus doesn't end his sentence and continues, "Secondly, I've long forgiven you for what you did in Paris. Your loyalty lay on Newt, not professional boundaries, which is…admirable, in some ways." Tina nods at the older Auror, and she waits for Theseus to carry on.
"I simply just wanted to talk about Grindelwald and MACUSA. The Ministry refuses to act too much; they're afraid it'll only make Grindelwald attack us, even with Dumbledore here." Tina nods and starts off slowly: "Everyone in MACUSA has to do monthly office checks. Any suspicious activity noticed by Aurors has to be reported through owl to the Security Office. Everything's been mostly clear since, you know, that time, though," Tina thoroughly explained as much as she thought Theseus needed to hear.
Theseus stayed silent for a few moments, processing what Tina had just informed him about. "And how about you?" "Pardon?" "I mean…are you in this whole Dumbledore thing that's going on?" Tina nodded, "Dumbledore and Newt have sent me a few important owls…mostly Dumbledore when it comes to the Grindelwald stuff." Theseus pauses, but he decides that focusing on the Newt part wasn't worth either of their time.
"Do you think Dumbledore's…really doing anything?"
"Are you doubting Dumbledore now?," Tina responds with a bit of shock rising in her voice.
"Just because he's a good wizard doesn't mean he's always doing the right thing," Theseus countered. Tina gives Theseus a side glance, "Does Newt know about this? He's close to Dumbledore…." "Of course he does," Theseus retaliated, "He's the only person I've got left." Tina stays quiet, Theseus' words running around her head. "You'll only make yourself seem suspicious if you try. Plus, Dumbledore's always got a plan."
"Then do you trust me, Tina?" Tina doesn't speak, but Theseus knows that Tina doesn't fully trust him at all - that the only reason Tina even has an ounce of trust in him is that he's Newt's brother. He lets out an exhausted sigh and throws his head back slightly. Tina only looks away, the atmosphere becoming more awkward with every second.
"Thanks for coming, Tina," Theseus says after what feels like forever. "I'll be off now; the Floo Powder's in that container over there," he says, gesturing to a jar across from him, "if you need any, that is," he adds at the end. Tina stands, but she doesn't move towards the jar. Instead, she disapparates on the spot.
When Theseus looked down at his hands, he realised they had been shaking the entire time.
