Ruby Rose woke up with a start. Her chest lightly rising and lightly falling and her body trembling, although she didn't know why. She didn't even remember who she was.

It was then that she remembered. She was a student at beacon academy, a huntress in training... She was 15 years old, and had only been attending Beacon for a short time... But then... Why was it that her body was reacting like her world had been pulled out beneath her, ruined in an instant?

She shook her head, she was in a place that she didn't recognize. Emerald pillars of light reaching the sky, a black void surrounding them and a violet floor underneath her, spiraling downwards into a pathway leading her somewhere she did not know.

"Where... am I?"

Shaking her head once more, Ruby knew the only way was down. Whether this was a dream or not, she knew she couldn't sit here forever.

And so, Ruby began her decent downwards. And, whether she realized it or not, when she got down to the bottom, with a strange door in front of her, Ruby's hand synchronized with several others as they all twisted the doorknob together.

After a bright flash blinded her for a second, Ruby found her eyes blinking rapidly, but rather than in pain, it was in confusion. She found herself staring at the rest of her team as well as her sister team, Team JNPR, who were all also looking around, their heads moving back and forth in quick succession.

They found themselves in an ornate living room, except one of the walls was a complete black void. Ruby tried reaching out to touch it, only to pull back as ripples were sent throughout her body and whatever this nebulous void was.

"Guys... Where... are we?" Ruby asked as she spun around to face her friends. They all shrugged their shoulders as one began to speak up.

"Are we sure this isn't a shared dream of some sort?" asked Blake Belladonna, the black haired Faunus' eyes darting about. "It's not unheard of for those with unlocked aura to share dreams when they happen to be relatively close."

"Uh, no. This is not a dream," a voice began. "This is the domain of a deity, so you best be respectful towards them." At that, all eyes and heads turned towards the source of the voice. A young brown haired lady in a maid dress bowed towards them, as she said, "I am Rain, humble servant of the deity Hopscotch. You must be the guests bun has been talking about."

"Hopscotch?" began Lie Ren, his eyes narrowing slightly. "I've never heard of such a deity before." At that, several members of Ruby's friend group began to nod, some letting out their piece.

"How are we sure this isn't some elaborate semblance prank?" asked Weiss, as she crossed her arms, looking at Ruby for some sort of signal.

"Or a test from our teachers," continued Pyrrha, as she looked at Jaune, then Ruby, both somewhat nervously. (Although, Ruby was able to notice the type of nervousness was different for her.)

"I say we break some legs," Nora said, as she pulled out her trusty hammer Magnhild and glared, somewhat jokingly at Rain.

Yang cracked her knuckles, seemingly putting a nice bow on the sentiment that everyone but Ruby seemed to agree with. "Exactly. You say you're a humble servant, but how will that humility stand against us?"

Ruby shook her head rapidly, to the point her head began to hurt. She could feel her body shaking, as if she knew fighting whoever, or whatever, this was... was a bad idea. She didn't know why or how, but it was as if her intuition was screaming that this was a threat they could not beat. So, she screamed. "Everyone stop and think for a second, oum be damned!"

As everyone's eyes turned to look at her, she noticed her breath slow down a bit, as she was unaware she was even hyperventilating for a second. After she got a moment to calm down, she continued, "If this person is a threat... and she's confident enough to call her leader a deity... Wouldn't that say something about her leaders strength? What if... her leader came to her rescue during the fight?"

Everyone paused for a second, and most dropped their fighting stances. It took a moment longer for Pyrrha to drop hers. Her eyes narrowed lightly, as she looked at Ruby, and Ruby could tell Pyrrha wanted to talk to her alone. It was as if the two knew something about each other, but didn't know what it was. At least, that's what Ruby thought.

Ruby's eyes narrowed lightly, as she looked towards Rain. "Sorry for my friends' behavior," she began, "but... We're huntsmen and huntresses. We have to keep our guard up, yknow?" She smiled sheepishly, as if trying to show that she didn't trust Rain, but also didn't mean any harm by it.

Rain nodded. "It is understandable. My goddess had told me that this was to be expected. In fact, I think everything has gone exactly to purr plans so far."

"Yupp, it has," a small voice, resembling that of a genki girl from a mistralian cartoon Ruby used to watch. "I am Hopscotch, bee tee dubs." Everyone spun around to the source of the voice; a short, pastel-colored bunny except with a humanoid form, not unlike certain art Ruby saw on some social media.

Blake rolled her eyes, "Oh boy... The deity's an oum forsaken furry..." Jaune let out a small snort at this, earning a slight elbow from Yang.

"Yes, yes... I've heard it before," Hopscotch said as bun rolled purr eyes. "But! We are here to do something very special, colon D!"

As the others, including Ruby, cringed at the verbal emoticon, Yang raised an eyebrow. "What kind of special? Don't get me wrong, this is a fancy place... But it's just a little underwhelming. It looks more... old-fashioned than what I'd expect for a so-called deity who has a suprise planned for us."

"Ah, well, if you all would turn your attention to the void in the wall, please, and my goddess will explain." Rain said

Everyone did so, Ruby especially being suprised to see that the void had been transformed into a tv screen-- showing a moment of hers in the past, one of the times she was visiting her mother's grave. Ruby was slightly shocked, to say the least. Especially when it was revealed her weapon of choice was different in this scenario.

Pyrrha looked at her, "Ruby? Was Crescent Rose not always your weapon?" She asked, her eyes slightly questioning.

"Crescent Rose wasn't always my weapon, no... But it has been for the longest time, and it was 100% my weapon in this moment. That's what I remember."

"Yeah, Rubs has had Crescent Rose as soon as she could make her own," Yang began, "Every hunter and huntress tend to stick to a weapon, even if they upgrade it over time."

Jaune tilts his head slightly, putting his hand to his chin, before his eyes light up with excitement. "I know what's going on here!" He said, "This is a multiverse theatre, right?"

"Bingo!" Hopscotch said, a hint of proudness in purr voice. "We are here to change your timeline by reacting to the multiverse. I'm suprised you know though, Jauney boy."

Jaune chuckled nervously, giving a wry smile. "Well, you know, I read a lot..."

Blake gave him a knowing smile as she walked up to him and said something unintelligible to Ruby, causing him to quickly nod in embarrassment.

"Well, either way, let's get started." Hopscotch said, as purr pulled out a bookcase out of thin air, slamming it down with an audible thud. "Alright so. The universe will be based on two of the books in this shelf. However, they will only be loosely based off of them. To start off, Ruby Rose and Jaune Arc will pick a book that interests them each."

At that, Rain interrupted Hopscotch. "Not to change your plans or anything, Lady Hopscotch but... I think me and you should pick a book first. To show them the extent of what said universes will entail."

Hopscotch nodded her head. "Yeah, that makes sense tee bee h!" As everyone cringed at her way of speaking once again, she walked up towards the bookshelf and picked up a book, throwing it into the void.

"Inspiration #1 - Kid Icarus Uprising", a deep voice, presumably the void itself said.

After that, Rain followed suit. Picking up a book, smirking and throwing it into the void, as it said, "Inspiration #2 - Avatar:The Last Airbender"

The void began to swirl into a mix of black and white, it glowing brightly, causing Ruby to stare at it in confusion, as the void echoed once more; "May the focus of this universe stick their hand in, pretty please." Without thinking, Ruby began to walk up to the void... and stuck her hand into it. Then, she quickly backed away as she felt the same ripples she had felt earlier, as the void echoed out, "Now generating the first universe..."

The void then began to shift once again, it forming a tidal wave of colors that swirled and mixed into a logo of sorts. The logo finished forming, as the void echoed out, "First universe finished generating. Please enjoy your watch of... Silver:The Last Angel"

As everyone waited with baited breath, sitting down on the chairs that appeared out of nowhere, Ruby could not help but sit next to Pyrrha, whispering to her gently... "Do... you feel like... we died before?"

Pyrrha sat for a moment, staring off in an unknown direction, before nodding. It was at this moment that Jaune and Weiss inserted themselves between the two.

Ruby coudln't necessarily focus on the berating she was probably receiving from Weiss, but she didn't have to, as the void finally moved onto the next scene past the logo. She smiled, excited to see what this universe held.

Chapter End

Author's Notes:

So yeah. This is the first chapter of my multiverse theatre fic. I know some of the set up is probably pretty obvious, but some of it isn't as obvious as you think it is. I also am a fan of the twist doing two universes combined together, Kid Icarus and Avatar being one example of extremely wacky combos glued together by the RWBY cast. You'll see what i have planned in the future. Hope you enjoy :D
