I kept my eyes forward as a I noticed a girl staring at me, I always notice that girl staring at me. Allesia March a transfer student. She transferred to our school three months ago, and I often feel her eyes on me throughout the day. Sometimes I smile at her, but she never smiles back. I look back over at her-there she is again, green eyes, pointed upturned nose and long black hair covering her shoulders. She leaned back and folded her arms-her eyes never leaving mine.
I feel a cold chill in the air and quickly turn back around to look at the classroom board. There is just something about her that scares me. We rarely get transfers, and she is our second in two years. Rumours flooded the school on her first day that she was unfriendly. So soon after three weeks of people trying to get to know her and her telling them to not talk to her-everyone started to leave her alone.
"Did you do the homework?" I whispered to my friend Taylor sitting beside me. Taylor grimaced and quickly looked at our teacher Mr Oakley before whispering back.
"We had homework?" Taylor squeaked out around a mouthful full of chewing gum-clearly trying to hide it.
"You have gum. Can I have some?" I asked, trying to distract myself to shake off the concern I feel of Allesia March's cold stare "What flavour is it?"
"Strawberry, you can have one" Taylor emphasized the last word of her sentence and handed me a piece.
"Thanks!" I muttered. I haven't done our homework, Mr Oakley had given it to us to prepare for our exam we have, when we come back from summer break. I looked up at the clock we had a few minutes left until it was time to leave. I look at Taylor then turn back at Allesia and there she is again looking at me. I take a sharp breath in and start putting my things in my backpack, the minute I hear the bell ring.
"So, what are your plans for the summer?" Taylor asked as we stood up, I shrugged my shoulders, and we started walking towards the door. I don't have plans for the summer. We were going to go camping for a few days, but I have no idea what happened to that idea! Like many things mom had said she would take my brother Embry and I to do, she is now saying we may not go.
"What are yours?" I responded, fumbling with my bag as we were walking to Taylor's sister's car-still in the process of zipping up my backpack. Taylor pursed her lips while walking next to me. She looked in thought and then suddenly she stopped. I stopped next to her confused.
"That's right!" Taylor's face lit up as she seems to remember something, she moved to stand in front of me "I wanted to ask, would you like to come to my house for a sleepover sometime during the break?"
"I'll have to ask my mom, but I would like to do that" I said finally zipping my bag up. Taylor smiled and then turned on her heel to start walking to the car park again. I followed her direction as my mom needed to work later these days, Taylor's sister started to drive me home in the afternoon. "Hey what do you think of Allesia?" I mumbled to Taylor.
"Allesia M or Alessia G?" Taylor asked.
"M" I say.
Taylor's brow furrowed and she looked concerned for a second before smiling "Hard to say. I don't know her, and I can't make judgement on someone I don't know. Why is that?"
"She's always staring at me, and I don't know why. She really scares me" I quickly say, "I've tried to smile at her, but she just looks at me-like she's mad at me or something".
"She probably thinks you're pretty. I stare at girls when they are pretty, everyone does" Taylor said playfully. I rubbed my left eye with my right fingers and yawned. We stepped down the stairs onto the pavement of the carpark. Julieta stood at the door of her red Volvo talking to her friends. Taylor and I started to walk slower; she must have had the same thought that we would be here for a while.
