Chapter Two
Richie sighed as he was in the van with Duncan, Methos, Amanda and Joe on a road trip to their destination at the small town of Elk Grove, Michigan. Joe was driving the group.
They have been on the road for a few after leaving Seacouver. They were currently close to Illinois after a series of stops and a wrong turn. They soon travel to Indiana after passing this state, and finally to Michigan to make it to the city of Elk Grove.
"I wonder what this big threat is all about," Richie spoke up.
"It's something serious," Amanda replied, "that's something we know."
"We also know it's something more serious than what our section had to deal with in Sunnydale a few years ago," Joe added, "and this time, us immortals are going to be involved."
"It must be real serious for immortals to be involved," Richie nodded.
"For sure," Duncan stated, "which is why we are on our way to where the threat is supposedly at."
"I wonder what we can expect with this town," Amanda glanced at the group.
"Not much is to be expected," Methos quipped, "it is a small town after all."
"Now hold on there," Joe interjected, "in the city of Elk Grove, Ash Williams is known as the hometown hero of that city after saving the city from some evil beings known as Deadites."
"Deadites?!" Duncan, Amanda and Richie exclaimed in unison.
"A name for this type of zombies," Joe answered.
"I'm aware of these zombies called Deadites," Methos added as he looked at the group, "We are immune to becoming zombies or Deadites."
"What happens if a pre-immortal comes close to dying?" Richie asked.
"They won't become Deadites," Methos answered, "they'll be that if they are still alive, but once they become immortal, they will no longer be targeted to become Deadites."
"Strange," Amanda quipped.
"I have to agree there," Richie nodded in agreement.
"Well, it looks like we are almost in Illinois," Duncan announced.
The group remained quiet as they were almost at the state of Illinois.
-Collision-Course-
James looked on as he parked to where the hardware store was. He noticed that there was a crowd of people in the area. Not surprising given that this was opening night of Ash's new hardware/sex emporium store.
"We made it," Twyla stated.
"That we did," James nodded as he observed the crowd, "and to a full house almost."
"Do you think these people will be hit with the evil?" Twyla asked.
"Not this minute," James answered, "it will probably take time, just like before."
"Just like before with Talpa aand Glory in Sunnydale?"
"Exactly."
The couple stepped out of their car and they noticed a guy they recognized from the commercial.
"That must be him," James stated, "the guy behind Ashy Slashy's Hardware store."
"He looks like the guy," Twyla nodded.
"Wait a second," James stated as he noticed an unfamiliar guy not too far from where they were standing. The guy had spiky brown hair and was wearing a leather jacket.
"Hey, you!" James walked over to the guy and yelled to where only he, the new guy, and Twyla could hear them. The guy looked over as James and Twyla walked over to him.
"You talking to me?" the guy asked.
"You working for Ruby, aren't you?!" James demanded, "well, give it up! Ash Williams will not be killed! I'm going to see to that!"
"Ruby? Ash..." the guy looked confused, "I do not work for this Ruby you speak of."
"Well," James calmed down before asking, "who are you then?"
"My name is Dalton," the guy introduced himself, "I am with the Knights of Sumeria, and I am here to protect the Prophesied One, which is why I am here."
"Prophesied One?" Twyla quipped confused.
"My friend told me evil was coming," Dalton explained, "and I will be meeting up with her before I meet the Prophesied One."
"You do that," James replied, "my wife Twyla and I are going to this Prophesied One ourselves to warn him of some danger that is coming."
He then said, "Oh, my name is James Ferino, and I'm sorry for the confusion. You looked mysterious."
"It's okay," Dalton accepted the apology.
James and Twyla noticed that a woman was walking over to where Ash was as he was talking to a young guy with Hispanic Heritage.
"What could she want with him?" Twyla whispered to James.
"I'm not sure," James whispered back.
"Son of a bitch!" the woman barged over to where Ash was and James and Twyla were right behind her, unintentionally eavesdropping.
"Hey, whoa," Ash replied walking over to the woman, "lady, this is a line."
"What?" the woman scoffed, "You don't even remember me?!"
"Well, the old steel trap never forgets a rack," Ash replied, "but faces are a little fuzzy. Give me a hint."
The woman punched Ash in the face, causing him to spill some of his drink he was holding and causing the crowd, including James and Twyla to exclaim and shout in shock. Even Ash's Hispanic friend was in shock.
"I said a hint," Ash replied after he recovered from the blow.
"I'm your fucking wife!" the woman exclaimed.
"Why isn't that surprising?" Twyla muttered.
"Not surprising," James added.
"My what?" Ash asked, confused.
"We need to talk," the woman answered before she grabbed his arm and dragged him to the store.
"We better follow them," James told his wife.
"Good idea," Twyla nodded in agreement.
They hurried into the store fast enough to figure out what exactly was going on here.
"One of your goddamn monsters just attacked our daughter at at Kenward County High," the woman proceeded to tell Ash.
"Daughter? Ha!" Ash replied in obvious denial, "You definetly got the wrong guy!"
"Demons made you chop off your hand," the woman continued, "I'll swallow your soul."
She then scoffed.
"He seems like that type of guy," Twyla told her husband.
"What do you mean?" the Hispanic guy asked, overhearing the group.
"Who are you?" James asked.
"My name is Pablo," the guy answered, "I'm Ash's friend."
"Well..." James started to speak again. Then they were interrupted with Ash saying, "But in case you didn't get the memo, me and my compadres, we buried the evil big time. Elk Grove is officially a demon free zone."
"I wouldn't be so sure, Mister," James replied.
Ash and the woman turned to see him, Twyla and Pablo at the area.
"What are you talking about?" Ash asked, "Pablo, who are these people?!"
"I'm not sure," Pablo shook his head, "but they're right, Jefe."
He lifted his shirt, revealing some strange writing on his torso.
"Oh my God," Twyla gasped as she clasped her hands to her mouth.
"That's not good," James muttered.
"Dude," Ash told his friend, "I told you to get that shit lasered off."
"Nah, I didn't do this!" Pablo objected, "It just happened outside."
"I'm scared!" the woman stated in fear, "This thing is after my little girl and..."
"All right already," Ash replied, "I'll check it out!"
"We're going with you," James announced.
"And just who are you two exactly?" Ash asked.
"My name is James Ferino," James answered, "and this is my wife Twyla."
"Hello," Twyla waved.
"You'll be needing our help," James insisted, "your life might depend on it!"
"Fine," Ash relented, "we'll figure out why my life depends on it after we head to Kenward County High."
The group entered in the Delta. Ash drove, Pablo was in the passenger's seat, and James, Twyla and the woman, Ash's ex, were all in the back.
"Just like old times, eh, Pablo?" Ash stated, looking at the group in the car, "except for the wife part, two strangers, and no Kelly. Actually, it's not like old times at all."
"You'll find out more about these strangers when we get to the school," James stated.
"Is that so?"
"Yeah, it is so."
"Just drive!" Ash's ex/wife exclaimed.
"Easy there, Shannen Doherty!" James exclaimed. The ex glared at him, annoyed.
"Yeah, easy for you, sister," Ash added in, "you come waltzing into my life, yapping about demons and daughters, and I don't know boo about you."
"Candance Barr."
"Yeah, and?"
Candance brought up something that seemed to ring a bell for Ash, "Branson?"
"Branson," Ash then realized something as he recalled the moment he married this woman, "Wait a minute, Candance Barr. Oh no, Candy Barr."
Pablo laughed with Ash. James rolled his eyes as Twyla cringed and Candance looked offended.
"Well this daughter of ours," Ash looked at his ex/wife, "I'll bet she thinks I'm pretty special, huh?"
"Dream on," Candance retorted, "I told her old man was some crack dealer who got shanked in prison."
"What?!" Ash exclaimed.
"Well," Candance stated, "it was easier than admitting I'd hooked up with some psycho saw boy!"
"Oh, okay," Ash replied before stating, "but I call BS on the daughter. I was using my lucky rubber all through the odds, and that sucker went 50 and 0."
"No offense," James replied, "but sometimes the lucky rubber doesn't do good, and she might actually be right about the daughter."
"What makes you think that?" Ash asked.
"It had happened before," Twyla answered, "my sister got pregnant a year ago by accident. We heard the rubber break."
"Well," Ash replied, "that didn't happen to me."
"But she could be telling the truth," James said, "no offense again, but you seem like that guy who would end up with some kids down the line."
"What are you implying?!" Ash asked, annoyed.
"I'm just saying!"
"Just drive!" Candace shouted, causing everyone to go silent the rest of the way to the school.
