Days bled into weeks which then bled into months. In all that time in between, I gradually warmed up to the idea of partaking in rehab. By the looks of it, Husk seemed to have also warmed up to the idea. I had been actually quite impressed by the strides he had been taking over these past few months. Sure, we both had a few unfortunate relapses since being introduced to the program however, one thing we didn't count on was how helpful the therapist and doctor had been at getting us both back on track.
Admittedly, it was nice to have a couple of people that you could talk to without worrying about other people speculating and finding out about it. Everything we talked about in the group sessions as well as the one on one therapy sessions was confidential and never left their offices. In addition, Dr. Frankenstein had prescribed Husk and I with some medication that's supposed to counteract with our addictive cravings. On top of that I was clinically diagnosed with PTSD, Depression and anxiety and was given some medication to help with those things as well. While the medication wasn't meant to serve as a cure, it certainly helped to making coping with certain triggers a lot easier.
In addition, it helped me to more effectively communicate with the people around me. As far as Husk is concerned, he seemingly became good friends with Gracie Earnhardt. Admittedly, she's been a pretty good therapist for both of us however, I think it was a lot easier for Husk to build trust with her because of their similar interests. It also helped that she lived around the same time period as Husk and I so she had a very clear understanding of the struggles we had endured in life. In particular, the three of us all bonded over our struggles with growing up in a time period that was terrible to members of the LGBTQ community.
So overall, Charlie, Vaggie and Alastor all did a pretty good job at selecting the right therapist. Over the months, I saw a lot of positive changes in Husk's behavior. He seemed a lot happier overall and had significantly decreased his alcohol intake. The medication he was given helped a lot with that. It also helped that we were constantly keeping each other busy and encouraging one another to pursue our hobbies more.
For example, Husk has started writing more songs and poems and has been performing with his saxophone in clubs across Pentagram city. I went to a few of his concerts and he was actually quite good. In fact, that was where we were now. Husk was standing just offstage waiting for his turn to come up and play alongside a pretty talented pianist that played regularly at this club in particular. He looked so handsome in his tuxedo with his hair slicked back with a few strands of his hair falling over to frame his brow.
A guy came up on the stage as soon as the last note was played by the jazz band that was currently performing. "Alright ladies, gentlemen, and those in between; tonight we have a special guest performing with us. Without further ado, let's give a nice warm welcome to Danny HuskerDust!" I let out a loud cheer and shouted from my table, "whoo hoo!! Knock 'em dead, Baby!!"
He looked over to me and smiled with his cheeks a bit red. Within the next few minutes Husk opens the act with his stunning musical solo which after a few seconds is followed by the keys of the piano playing in perfect harmony. In a playful back and forth manner, the saxophone sounds, playing an intricate melody which is then followed by a melody being played by the pianist almost in a jazz duel. Each instrumentalist playing an even more complex melody than the one before. A few minutes later the song ends with the both of them harmonizing before dropping the last note.
I cheered and clapped my hands loudly feeling quite proud of my boyfriend. After a few bows to the audience he exits the stage and places his saxophone in his case and closes it. He carries his saxophone in hand while making his way over to my table. He places his saxophone down on the floor for a moment and leans over to kiss me on the cheek. "Geez, Angel do you think you cheered loud enough when I got on stage?"
I placed my hand to my chin and thought about it for a moment, "hmm... no I don't think I did." He chuckled, "Angel, we're not at a pep rally." I giggled, "still, you were amazing up there. Seriously, I could watch you play all day. You look like you're in your element."
He smiled and kissed my cheek again. "So, you ready to leave?" I stood up and wrapped my fuzzy shawl around my shoulders before grabbing my purse, "well I am now." He offers his arm and I take it as he guides me out to the black limousine waiting just outside. He opens the door for me and I climb inside.
He follows in and closes the door behind him. He places his saxophone down on the floor and then leans back into the seat and wraps his arms around me. He lays his head on my shoulder, "so are you excited to be going out dancing tonight?" I kiss him on the lips before wiping my lipstick off of his mouth with a napkin. "Only, because I'll be dancing with you."
He takes my hand in his and purrs as I scratch him behind his ear. We approach the dance club and get out of the limousine and walk in hand in hand . Once we're inside, we sit down at the lounge and order some drinks and appetizers. We both decided to drink some orange juice and get some cheese fries. We were just about to settle into our chairs when Husk caught sight of something that pissed him off.
He had noticed that someone at the bar had spiked our drinks. The guy brings over our drinks and appetizer and Husk instantly jumps up and punches the guy square in the jaw. The guy collapsed to the ground instantly and Husk grabbed my hand and leads me back out of the club. Once we get outside he pulls out his phone and calls for the limousine to come back and get us. Luckily for us we didn't have to wait outside for very long since the driver didn't get the chance to drive that far.
Husk opens the door for me and then climbs in behind me before closing it. He lets out a high sigh before placing his hand on my leg, "I'm sorry, Webs. Do you want to go to a different dance club tonight?" I thought about it for a moment, "actually, I just want to go home and cuddle with you and watch some movies." "Qualunque cosa ti renda felice, amore mio," he says kissing the back of my hand.
I smiled and blushed slightly before laying my head on his shoulder. A few minutes later and the limousine is parked out in front of the hotel. Husk gets out and holds the door open for me and closes it behind me when I step out. We walked inside the hotel and went upstairs to our room. Once we get there we close the door behind us and I placed my purse on the table.
Husk comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist and starts kissing me from my jawline and down my neck. I giggled, "what are you up too, Husky?" He chuckles, "I thought you said you wanted to cuddle." I turned around to face him and wrapped my arms around his neck before looking into his eyes. I chuckled, "oh, I know that look and you're looking to do a whole lot more than cuddle, Mister."
His smile faded slightly, "that's only if you want to. I don't want to force you into anything you don't want to do. We can always wait until later if you want." I smiled and pulled his lips to mine and kissed him, "how about this. Let's watch a movie on the bed together and we'll see how it plays out, deal?"
He smiled at me and kissed my lips before pressing his forehead into mine, "I think I could live with that." I smiled and kissed him again before walking over to my dresser and grabbing my pjs and changing into them. Husk got undressed rather quickly and was already lying under the covers. I went to the bathroom and was washing my makeup off before the brushing my teeth. By the time I get out of the bathroom and to the bed, I noticed that Husk is already passed out.
I smiled and climbed into bed next to him and turned off my beside lamp. Finding it difficult to sleep, I tried doing some mindful meditation just as I had learned in my rehabilitation classes and before too long, I was finally relaxed and able to sleep.
