*Flashback*

Greenhouse and Phantom arrived to see utter chaos. Buildings were crumbling, fires ran rampant across the endless mounds of debris and rubble, and heroes were frantic, all circling around a very large figure.

The figure stood on four long spider-like legs, and it's miniscule pupils frantically bouncing between the heroes encircling it. The thing bore a pair of large arms that were located upon it's back, strange metallic rings welded to the wrists, while tubes sprouting from them connected to random points along the arms entirety.

A strange green liquid began flowing through the tubes, causing the things veins to pulse with a feint green glow before it dashed, leaving a small crater where it once stood.

The pro hero it charged towards was almost immediately impacted with a stinger like object, causing them to collapse.

The creature halted its charge as its body began shifting as its spine became more pronounced as metallic pipes ruptured the taught skin on its back, spewing fire like a muscle car revving it's engine.

The creature's head began shifting, as its head split open like a mouth as many rows of sharp teeth sprouted and its tongue enlarged and elongated. The two halves of its head gained a wooden chest-like appearance as it sprouted several pairs of eyes.

Then, its spider-like legs began shifting as they became more lizard-like, and its long stinger tipped tail began thickening as the stinger dulled while large and long spines started growing all along the entire tail.

The figure's arms and front legs merged, creating a bulbous growth before the growth bursted, long tendrils shooting out of them as the tip of the tendrils split, becoming maws filled to the brim with teeth.

At the sight of this, only one thought came to Mineta's head.

NOMU

Before he could scream, he felt himself hoisted up by an unseen force.

"GREENHOUSE!! I need you to search the debris for injured and escort them to safety" Phantom ordered, the small teal orbs of light that served as his eyes glowing green.

Mineta, understanding the mission, nodded, as Phantom used his poltergeist ability to send Mineta into a nearby fallen building.

Before Mineta landed, he remembered what happened to get him and Phantom here.

*Ok, Greenhouse, I just got a call. We're needed in Musutafu." Phantom-sensei said as he put his phone back in his pocket.

"Ok, let's go" Mineta said as he finished retracting his vine limbs from putting a derailed train back upon the railroad.*

Mineta landed with a soft thud, and as he looked back at where the pro hero he was interning under threw him, he only saw the smoke from the flames billowing out into the blackened night sky.

Mineta then looked around, noticing how tightly packed the rubble was, but also how unstable it was.

Mineta turned his right arm into vines before stretching them out as he began slowly walking through the collapsed structure.

Mineta soon heard a pained grown, and moving to its source, he found Ingenium, caught beneath a large chunk of concrete which was too heavy for the lone man to lift.

With great ease, Mineta stretched several of his vines out, wrapping them around the chunk of concrete before gently tossing it aside. Mineta then ran towards Ingenium and helped him stand.

"Run. You shouldn't be here." Ingenium began before Mineta interrupted him.

"I'm Greenhouse. The hero I'm interning under tasked me with escorting wounded to safety." Mineta explained, before Ingenium turned away.

"You don't understand. We're not alone in here." Ingenium replied before looking around for any movement.

"What do you mean? Are there others in this building?" Mineta asked the pro hero.

However, the answer to Mineta's question didn't come from Ingenium, it came in the form of a loud rumbling as a section of earth was being disturbed as though something was that was burrowing below is now surfacing.

What emerged was a large humanoid creature that instead of legs, it had a long worm-like tail. The creature had no jaw, but a vent-like muzzle that wrapped around its exposed brain.

The creature's arms were long with bulky yellow forearms. Its hands resembles bulldozer buckets.

"NOMU!!!!" Mineta shouted before his vine tendrils wrapped together, their tips opening as sandbox tree seed capsules began poking out of the opening.

"I already got everyone out of the building, but that thing burst out of the ground before I could escape and collapsed the building on top of me." Ingenium said, standing behind the shorter boy.

Seems like this Nomu can burrow. Let's see it try escaping when it isn't alone underground. Mineta thought, before firing the sandbox tree seed capsules out like bullets, rattling the metallic exoskeleton that the Nomu had.

The Nomu at first, didn't seem to care before the many seed capsules violently exploded like bombs, surprising Ingenium.

"Intriguing quirk. But you're too young to stay and fight. You need to go!" Ingenium ordered, before gripping his left side in pain and loosing his balance.

However, Ingenium was caught by one of Mineta's spare vine tendrils and put back on his feet.

"Sorry. I have orders to get injured to safety and clearly, you're injured." Mineta said, still looking at the Nomu, waiting for it to attack.

The Nomu suddenly lunged at Mineta, who immediately dived into the ground, and began burrowing.

The Nomu searched for Mineta, the only sound echoing throughout the collapsed building was that of an engine revving.

Suddenly, a large, thick, and thorny vine burst out of the ground and slashed at the Nomu's tail, causing the Nomu to screech before snapping to where the vine was, only to see nothing but dirt and rubble.

Another vine burst out of the ground, this time slashing at the Nomu's nech, but the Nomu quickly dodged. However, Mineta noticed something.

Every time, right before it moves, its vent muzzle lets out a puff of exhaust. Mineta thought before suddenly bursting out of the ground and his trajectory gave him just what he needed.

As Mineta flew through the air, time slowed as he fired a sandbox tree seed capsule right into the vent. Time returned to normal as Mineta landed with a roll. Minta stood, ready to attack as the seed capsule violently exploded, causing the Nomu to screech in pain.

The Nomu lowered its guard enough to let Mineta lunge at the Nomu. As Mineta landed on the Nomu's body, he scurried to its head. When Mineta reached the head, his arms shifted from vines to tree trunks, before Mineta dug both of his tree trunk arms into the Nomu's exposed brain.

As he did this, the Nomu began to writhe in pain as it flailed and squirmed in an attempt to get Mineta off. Mineta's feet shifted into vines and wrapped around the Nomu's neck before, with all his might, Mineta pulled. And pulled. And pulled.

As quickly as he started, Mineta yanked the Nomu's brain and brainstem, both split in half vertically, out of the Nomu's skull, causing the Nomu to fall, its once roaring engine now silent and lifeless.

Ingenium only stared at the intern in shock.

"Come on, let's get you out of here." Mineta said as he arms turned back into vines as they stretched upward to help Ingenium walk.

Mineta guided Ingenium to the outside, and instead of being greeted by black smoke, they were greeted by the clear sky of dawn. The dawn of a day of hope, joy, and gratitude.
