The light shines from the open Pokéball, and on the floor, a Bulbasaur appears.

"Aww, you are the sweetest thing," she gently says, and Bulbasaur extends one of its vines for her to greet.

"Oh, you are so polite. The name is Mia, and I bet we will become great friends," she greets. "Balba," it says and nods. "Nice to meet you too," she replies.

Through the door comes Gary. "Oh, Gary, there you are," Professor Oak utters, and Mia turns her gaze to the spiky-haired boy with a blue long-sleeved shirt. "Oh, Hey there, Gary, nice to see you," Mia utters.

"Yeah, I know ladies dig me," he says in his cocky tone. (I always forget what a twig this guy is) she thinks to herself.

"I can't believe you are here this early. Anyways, I know what my starter will be," he says and picks one. He opens the Pokéball, and the light shines, and on the floor, a blue turtle-like Pokémon emerges.

"Squirtle!" it says proudly. (Huh, the Squirtle is as proud as its owner) she thinks to herself and puts Bulbasaur back into its Pokéball and attaches it to her belt. "Now you and me are going to show the world how great we are," Gary tells Squirtle, who nods proudly.

Mia shrugs her shoulders and is on her way to head out. "Oh, Mia, wait a moment here," Oak says and hands her a red slim device.

"What is that?" "It is a Pokédex, filled with all the data about all the different Pokémon the Kanto region has to offer. It will update your Pokémon as you travel, a handy tool to have if you have any questions about Pokémon," Professor Oak explains. "Oh, and it will serve as your ID too, and once lost, you can't get a new one, so take good care of it, all right?" Oak finishes.

"Thank you, Professor Oak," she says with a thankful smile and a nod. "Well, I will be on my way," she says and opens the door, just to see a bunch of cheering ladies yell, "Gar, Gary, he is our guy, if he can't do it, no one can," they say together while swinging their pom-poms around in their cheer-leading outfits.

"Great," she mumbles and squeezes through to get past.

"Phew, who needs this many people cheering for them? No wonder Gary has a big head," she mumbles but her smile quickly returns, and she heads down the steps. As she does, Gary steps outside of Oak's office.

"Ah, Gary, yay," the ladies cheer. "So, ladies, wanna see my very first Pokémon?" she hears him ask, and the ladies cheer and say yes.

Mia ignores them and looks to each side. "Right, I am to head back a little down the road, then take a left," she utters, taking to the road.

She walks the plain fields, hearing Pidgeys chirp in the distance. Unbeknownst to her, she is being followed.

"I wonder what Pokémon I should catch first?" she thinks out loud, seeing Rattatas run about between the grass.

She pulls out the map from her pocket and looks at it. "I suppose if I wish to travel the world, I can start with the next town over. What do you think?" she utters and looks at the ground. Before her gaze turns to the map, "I should stop talking like someone would answer," she tells herself and looks at the map. "So Viridian City, here I come," she tells herself and keeps going.

She walks quietly, and she hears rustling of the leaves from a bush behind her, and she gets chills.

"Oh no, I'd rather not meet anything dangerous already," she panics and runs as quickly as she possibly can.

"Come on, come on!" she exclaims, running as fast as her feet can carry her, and she stops by a rocky area with a river flowing nearby.

"I believe I lost it, whatever it was," she then hears a running motor, and she turns her gaze to see Gary and his cheering squad riding a red car and rides on past her.

(He is bringing them with him?) she ponders and starts to walk.

She follows the river for quite a bit and walks down the road and up another hill quite some distance away. She stops and looks at the valley in the distance as she hears a loud screeching from many Spearows.

She gets into her backpack and sifts through it and gets out her binoculars and looks at the bird Pokémon swarm in the far distance.

"They look pissed, what is that about?" she asks and shrugs as they do not appear to be heading her way.

She keeps going for another long while, and she sits down by a tree and gets into her backpack to get her pre-packed lunch, which is a salami sandwich.

She blinks as she hears buzzing and buzzing, and she looks up. "Ah, a Beedrill, hello there," she says in a friendly tone.

"Oh no, it is after my lunch!" she yells and gets up and runs. "Lay off already!" but the Pokémon keeps pursuing her.

"All right, if you won't leave it be, then I will make you," she says and stops and turns to face it and brings out her Pokéball.

"Bulbasaur, I choose you!" she exclaims and throws the Pokéball, and out comes Bulbasaur.

"Okay, Bulbasaur, let us end this rude Beedrill. Bulbasaur, use Leaf Blade!" she says, and a bunch of leaves are sent Beedrill's way, but it did little damage as the Beedrill uses Poison Sting. "Oh no, Bulbasaur, dodge it!" she exclaims, and Bulbasaur does its best but gets stung.

"Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip!" she exclaims, and sure enough, it did a little bit more damage. And Beedrill uses Poison Sting again, and this time it really hurts Bulbasaur as it pants heavily on the ground.

"Oh no, Bulbasaur can't take another damage," she exclaims and runs between them to defend Bulbasaur.

And she braces for the Beedrill's attack, but nothing happens, and she opens her eyes to see her own Umbreon bite the Beedrill, and its higher level and intensity are enough to scare off the Beedrill.

"Umbreon, I am thrilled to see you. What are you doing here? I thought I told you to stay at home?" She asks perplexed.

"Umbre, Umbreon," it says and runs over in the grass to pick something up and walks over to Mia.

"You wanted to give me something?" she asks and crouches down while Bulbasaur walks up to the two.

She takes out her hand, and Umbreon places a small Pokéball in her hand.

"Your Pokéball, but Umbreon, you can't."

"Umbreon, Umbreon!" it exclaims and puts its foot down, pointing its red eyes into her blue ones.

"Are you sure about this? It will be a long and treacherous road, and you are safest at the farm," Mia utters, and Umbreon nods. "Umbreon!" it states, poking its nose against her knee in her crouched position.

"All right, you can come with us," she says and pets Umbreon on its head that it happily accepts.

"Bulbasaur," the Pokémon next to them utters, and Umbreon shifts its attention to it, and they greet each other and make a little playful motion.

"Well, you two became friends quickly, that is good," she says and looks up as she stands up. "We better get going; I am glad there was just one Beedrill," she utters.

"So Bulbasaur, do you want to stay in the ball, or would you like to come with us?" she asks. "Bulbasaur," he says and looks at its Pokéball.

"The ball it is then, and don't worry, I will have your wounds looked at once we reach the Poke'mon center" she says and brings Bulbasaur inside.

"I am glad you decided to come with us. I missed you a lot while you were gone. I don't think we have ever been apart since Kelsy gave you to me as a gift, and you were just an egg, within an incubator. It is a long time since then, and I was only five," she tells Umbreon, who nods.

"Yes, ever since you were an Eevee," she says and begins to walk. Then she abruptly stops as she hears a world of buzzing, and she looks behind her at a hoard of Beedrills heading for them.

"Oh no, Umbreon, let's hurry!" she states, and they both begin to run as quickly as they can, heading towards Viridian City and the adventures that await them there.

What Pokemon will Mia do next and what Pokemon will be Mia's first catch? stay tooned.
