It's today the day that single handily ruined my childhood the terrible day of when I lost my Parents and my Sister.
We see a white haired child named Dante sleeping peacefully right when an alarm buzzes making the child release a rather annoyed sigh after which the boy started his routine.
"Better hurry and get up or I'll be late" said Dante aloud as he grabs a change of cloths from his dresser he looks down at his sleeping partner Cubone or by what they decided Dojin.
Realizing his starter slept through their alarm caused Dante to consider leaving him home for the day but decided against because he really needed emotional support for the day, Dante crouches down to his companions sleeping form seeing his friend so peacefully made Dante smile a rare but genuine smile but they needed to get ready prompting him to gently wake him up by shaking him "Dojin it's time to wake up" all he got was the sound of snoring and a sleepy grunt Dante decided to repeat the tactic again but with slightly more force and speak louder "Dojin we need to get ready! WAKE UP!!!" After the second try causes the Cubone to awaken with a surprised yet sleepy face looked back and forth until Dojin locked eyes with his Trainer/best friend with a sleepy glare and a few growls.
"Listen Dojin I know your tired from last nights training session but I really need you right now I don't want to be alone" says Dante desperately hearing his friend asking this made him realize today's the day which caused him to want to go and crawl in his lap and resting his head into his stomach releasing a content purr like sound causing his Trainer to smile and wrap his arms around his companion and say "heh Dojin you always know how to cheer me up" after saying this both Dante and Dojin stomachs released loud growls causing them to awkwardly stare at each other.
Then both Trainer and Pokémon to laugh at their synchronized stomach growls "Alright Dojin how about we have breakfast after I clean up that a plan" saying this prompted Dojin to nod his head in response, while watching his trainer walk into his bedrooms bathroom to clean up left Dojin to his thoughts.
Dojin POV - "Dante is sad again why does today have to happen it makes him so sad, this is what me and my trusted friend have in common we both lost family but gained new kinship between us" while being lost in thought caused him to realize Dante already left the shower and is in the process of brushing his teeth.
Dojin decides to start the process for his trainer to cook by heading to his friends kitchen while walking through the hallway to the stairs and starts his way down, after descended the last step he heads straight to the the kitchen through the living room and stops in front of the fridge he opens the refrigerator door and look through it for what they will eat his eyes turn from the the and to other basic refrigerator items he decides to grab the eggs and bacon and orange juice with the stepping stool helping him to reach the desired items he steps off his stool moves out of the way to close the fridge and moves the stool to the countertop.
Dante POV - After finishing brushing his teeth he turns off the water and stares at his reflection and what he saw was how similar he looked like his family his dad's face shape and eyes his moms hair and his sisters long hair that reached his shoulders he decides to set his hair into a simple ponytail just like how his sister did, "heh four years... It's been four years since the war ended when I was eight." Dante says aloud to himself, while lost in thought staring at himself made him realize he needed to leave soon and bolts out the bathroom to start breakfast.
TIME SKIP-
Before heading to the cemetery they headed to the Pokémon center to pick up their mutual friend and teammate Violet the Zubat, Dante decides to engage Dojin with some talk, "Dojin remember the day we met Violet" Dojin responded with a nod which prompted Dante to continue, "Yeah she hit you with a Supersonic in the attic almost making you lose" remembering this natural caused Dojin to become annoyed at his trainer remembering something so humiliating so decided to take a playfully swing at his best friend leg, Dante managed to dodge and cockily smirk at his partner as he continued the story "Yeah but your stubbornness and your well timed combo managed for us to have a new friend" after finishing the story the duo arrive at the Pokémon center and head to the front desk to checkout their companion.
Once Dante and Dojin are at the front desk Dante ask the Nurse Joy whose working for his friend, "Hello Nurse Joy I'm here to pick up my Zubat and to see her results" asked Dante after he finished Nurse Joy responded "Right away Dante I'll go and fetch your little friend and also after examining her she seems to be close to evolving as you thought" after hearing Dante grew excited because it meant the sun wouldn't hurt Violet anymore.
After Nurse Joy left to pickup Violet Dante checked his Pokégear for any news on his trainer's exam that would allow him to have a Trainer's license which would allow him to travel freely and have more than two Pokémon at a time, after 10 minutes Nurse Joy returns with a beat up great ball which has the symbols of Poison and Flying type symbol once he receives his friend he bids Nurse Joy a good day and heads out to Lavender Towns memorial cemetery where natives of Lavender who were members of the Indigo League.
Before stepping foot into the cemetery Dante notices man standing over a Ace Trainer units grave Dante notices the man has scars covering the man's face, before Dante realized he was staring the man's face immediately snaps to Dante and asks "Kid you have a staring problem, it's good way of getting back handed you brat" after stating this Dante decided to remain calm and try to deescalate the situation before it becomes problematic "I'm sorry sir I just noticed your a League Veteran I apologize for my disrespect sir" The stranger looks like he accepts his apology for the most part but asks a question "How could you tell that kid" Dante responds "The way you stand and your shoes are tied with ladder laces and advanced league home cuff links with sleeves extended exactly to the center of your wrist sir" after his explanation the stranger looked surprised but also impressed.
The stranger decided to respond by asking "You a League brat" Dante responded with "I was.. sir" Dante responded sadly, the stranger noticing this invites Dante over and introduces himself " My name is Reed Wilson and I served on the front lines as squad leader you" Hearing him say he was a squad leader made Dante feel respect for the man and made him ask a question "I'm Dante West and did you know of a squad leader named Sophia West" Hearing this made Reed's eye light up with familiarity "Yeah she was a former member of my squad shame what happened to her so much potential, why you know her" asked Reed with genuine curiosity so Dante decided to answer "Yeah... she was my sister and yeah my parents were part of the League as well they were Rangers just under you Ace Trainers they all served for our region" Dante responded, his eyes downcast under his hair and gripping a silver heart locket necklace tightly, Dojin noticing this placed his small hand on his Trainers leg, Dante visibly calmed down after this.
Reed decided to attempt to comfort the kid by saying "Listen kid.. I know it hurts but don't let that feeling be what defines trust me you'll be measurable, but you can take pride in the fact they helped save our region along with every of League member" after finishing this he patted Dante's head awkwardly, Dante appreciated the gesture and thanked him and also decided to ask who he was visiting specifically "So Mr. Wilson who are you visiting a friend?" After hearing this Reed answered, "No I'm visiting my squad they were the closest I've had to family. I try to visit every year and or when I have the time" hearing this made Dante want to ask something else "Would it be alright for me to pay respect for your comrades Mr. Wilson if that's alright with you" Reed gave the go ahead.
After saying bye to Reed Wilson, Dante made his way to his families graves once was in front of his family graves he released Violet into his jacket and have Dojin by his side to greet her after Violet realized she were with her friends she squeaked happily to them then clicked to gain some sense of where they were after doing so she snuggled her head into Dante's chest this Caused Dojin to become jealous but decided to let it go, After Violet calmed down Dante decided to let his family know how's he been " Hey Mom Dad and Sis I might be able to graduate Trainers prep school and if I pass the the exam... oh and apparently Violet close to evolving and Dojin isn't to far off from what Nurse Joy said at his last checkup and I also scored the highest wilderness survival training in my class and battle classes" After saying this Dante closed his eyes and continued "You know sometimes I wake up and forget you guys aren't here I leave my room and expect to see you in the living room or kitchen but you aren't your gone and I can't see you ever again" after saying this Dante started to to weep and kneel down trying to not let any tears escape his eyes but failing miserably noticing this Dojin and Violet both cuddle up to their Trainer an attempt to comfort him feeling them against him made he reach out and hold onto the both of them.
Dante than said "But it's been getting easier these two Dojin and Violet never fail to cheer me up and make me feel better with them I'm hoping I can build a team that's strong enough for us to be worry to the league im hoping to be the next Champion or even an Elite Four member" Said Dante while still crying, after a few breathing exercises he managed to calm down to the point he wasn't crying like crazy and was able to talk again.
"I'm sorry for bawling out like that" Dante apologized, after considering his next words carefully he spoke "I shouldn't cry like this or teacher would get annoyed at me. If it weren't for her I would've been moved into the system if she didn't claim custody over me I'm really thankful for her you know... and my team as well if it weren't for them and teacher I wouldn't be happy with life again" Dante paused and thought it over and then decided " Mom Dad Sophia I'm going to pass the exam and when I do I'll make to the top and once that happens I'll make a war like the last one never happens again I swear but to do that I'll have to leave here... leave you behind for a bit but I'll visit as much as I can I swear but I'm gonna start focusing on me for a bit... I love you guys see you later" after bidding his good family goodbye he also returns his two friends for now.
After making his way out the cemetery he passes by Reed's squad graves and went to pay his respects again but noticed something he didn't when he was here earlier a grave with the name Reed Wilson "What?" Dante Stated aloud "Then who was I talking to earlier" upon closer inspection he noticed there was a sign saying the bodies were never recovered "He was probably lying about he was yeah that's it" thought Dante, after leaving the cemetery Dante heads towards the school for his exam but couldn't shake what just happened at the cemetery and chalked it up to one of Lavenders mysterious. While lost in thought he realized he made to the front entrance to his school he took a moment to think "todays the day the day I have the chance to go on my journey to the top" Thought Dante while gripping Dojin's Pokéball "Let's do this" Dante walks to the front entrance and opens the door towards his future.
With this marks the beginning of of Dante's journey towards the top of the Pokémon League the rest is a story for another time till next time.
