The first I noticed when walking through the cave is that their were few Pokémon only the occasional Diglett and even the rarer Dugtrio, "Hey Emily is it really true that techniques like seismic sense are easier to achieve in places when surrounded by their element?" I asked the older trainer "Yes their move achievable in areas like this just like how water manipulation is easier to achieve in the oceans though on a much larger scale in comparison to seismic sense" Emily explained.
"Makes sense... Hey Jason how about I help you and Gaia with seismic sense and we can work on teaching and perfecting Dojin's Stone Edge and seismic sense how about it" I asked my first traveling companion "Sounds good, I'm just excited to get out this cave so I can properly introduce myself to Fearow" hearing this Emily added her own opinion "Solid plan you two but it's probably a better idea for you to meet that Fearow in here so there isn't a chance of it flying off on you, dominate wild Pokémon who have command groups are more independent and harder to reign in" spoke Emily "Hmmm alright let's do it but could you guys let out some members of your teams" asked Jason.
Emily released Torch to back them up with Burgundy always by her side as I released Dojin and Violet while Jason let out Gaia, "Alright let's do this, come on out Fearow" Jason threw the avians Pokéball once the bird materialized from the ball it took a second to look before locking on Jason who stood his ground against its gaze before it flew up and dashed towards to him with Aerial Ace, after I shouted "Dojin use Rock Tomb" after the birds stomach was jammed into by the an erupting boulder and hit the wall and literally hitting rock bottom before it stood on shaking talons it flapped its wings with feathers falling off then taking on a white hue and spin around him signaling the use of Roost rejuvenating itself but before it could launch its next attack which looked to be a combo of Sky Attack, Quick Attack and Aerial Ace, but was stopped by Gaia who countered with Smack Down then a Brick Break smashing the avians head into the ground before picking it up by its neck and slammed it into the closest wall then the floor so it could get the chance to heal itself but before she could continue "That's enough now, you already beat it no need to hurt it badly" Jason reasoned to his sentient rock who obeyed.
"Listen Fearow we beat you twice now and we'll keep doing it unless you work with me and Gaia and we'll help you become the strongest Fearow" hearing this the avian looked slightly less hostile but still glared at Jason, Emily and my teams "I'm gonna scan you alright so hold still" as Jason scanned the avian and it read as such, this Fearow is male and is slightly above average sized and know the moves Leer, Peck, Pluck, Leer, Assurance, Fury Attack, Aerial Ace, Wing Attack, Take Down, Agility, Focus Energy, Drill Peck, Drill Run, Double Team, Steel Wing, U-Turn, Substitute and has access to the egg moves Razor Wind, Quick Attack, Sky Attack, Tri Attack, Whirlwind.
"TMs?... Were you already a trainers Pokémon?" the bird looked to get angry and tried to get up to fight against but Gaia smashed a Brick Break into its back sending the bird back into the ground and keeping her fist against its back and kept a tight grip with her palm and glared down at the avian.
"Listen I don't know your story and I don't need to know unless you want me to know" Jason pleaded to the proud avian who looked to be more submissive after getting pummeled again "Your strong but rely too much on your instincts and lack techniques" he added then continued "I can help you realize your potential and become stronger but under the condition you join me" Jason finished, Fearow looked to consider the request before letting out a screech as if trying to communicate I asked Emily for help on behalf of Jason "Emily can you use Houdini to help" hearing this she let her Psychic type who looked around the cave before looking at his mistress "Can you help translate what Fearow is trying to say" she asked her teammate who responded mentally "Yes mistress Emily" after that he teleported in front of Fearow and his eyes glowed as he looked into Fearow's eyes he then turned towards us and informed us "He says he'd prefer to have a trial run with the the black haired one to see if it's worth while" after taking in the information Jason asked Fearow a question "Would you like a nickname in the meantime I'm not just gonna call you Fearow because that's boring and to commonality for me don't you think" he asked, the bird squawked and Houdini translated as yes and Jason spit balled some names which were rejected until "Alright how about Apex" the bird seemed to like it as it let out a positive squawk.
After Jason managed to gain some trust from his newest teammate, Gaia and Jason were helping Dojin learn Stone Edge and were making some progress the only real issue they had was maintaining the power between each boulder as they rise from the ground but had an easier time the variant of it which spawned jagged rocks with more range and a little less power, as this was going on Dojin and I explained the basic mechanics of seismic sense since to put it simply was feeling the the vibrations through the users connection to ground manipulation.
"Seismic sense is a simple technique but it's difficult to learn for even most ground types, the Diglett and Drilbur lines are able to do it naturally and rely on it due to poor eyesight and or sensitive to light so rely on vibrations" I explained to Jason as he paid rapt attention "Jeez dude I knew you were smart but that's ridiculous we never covered that kind of technique theory in school" Jason complimented me though i didn't let it get to my head "Only high tier trainers and or Earth and Generalists masters use it though not all of them try to master and or improve it" I said to Jason who looked grateful for the information.
After mastering Stone Edge to the point to where it's viable in battle and Dojin has slightly improved seismic sense and touched upon some of his other moves and touched upon Violet's training too, her echo location has improved significantly since she's evolved and planned to keep it that way and improve it, my sister always said a Pokémon's best abilities are the ones their naturally born with.
Jason with my advice was able to get Gaia started on seismic sense and got started on Defense Curl and Iron Defense to help her endure hits better and was in the already in progress with making combos with them in tandem with Deceptive Spin with the help of Emily's knowledge from battling and studying the Geodude line and was already working on plans for Apex but nothing concrete since there's a chance he might not be staying on the team and also made plans on the Pokémon in Route 11 in case there was something worth catching but was mainly just research since he would have his hands full with Fearow.
Two days later...
"Hmm if we keep going at the rate we're going we could make it out this cave today that is if you two are done training that is" said Emily to Jason and I as we were walking through the cave "Yeah we got to a good point with our teams" said Jason.
My Pokégear went off signaling a call surprising me and my companions that I was able to get reception and saw the caller ID was from Alola which brought a smile to my face I answered it and saw a young woman with tan skin and charcoal black hair and familiar emerald green eyes "Haunani how's it going over their in Alola and yours and Professor Kukui's newly established League" as I said this both Emily and Jason eyes widen and stared at me as they realized I was talking to Alola's 1st champion well closest thing since the regions conference after the war did a number on the region since it didn't have an established one since the region never had the need of one.
"Well I'm actually gonna be participating in this years indigo conference" hearing caused me confusion then realization "Is it to show your a worthy Champion?" Haunani smirked and responded "There you go using that head of yours little cousin" hearing this Jason let out a "COUSIN!!!" I had to cover my ear due to his volume and glared at him "Who was that Dante someone your traveling with?" my cousin asked curiously "Yeah hold on a second" I told Haunani "Is it alright if I show her you guys" Jason and Emily just nodded still a bit shocked I was related to the youngest Champion "Yeah these are Jason and Emily" I introduced my only living family member to my companions "Alola, my name is Haunani Kekoa the niece of Keanu West and cousin of Dante west and first champion of Alola nice to meet you the both of you" Jason still looked flabbergasted so Emily spoke "You know I heard the rumors you'll participating in this years conference but why you have no reason to prove yourself when you, Kukui and the Kahuna's protected your region during the war?" Emily asked curiously "Well since me and Kukui are trying to officialize our league with me as champion and the Professor holding a position similar to Charles Goodshow and using the reformed Team Skull as are Ace trainers the only thing that's really in question is my age and ability to protect my region so if I win the Indigo Conference it shows I have the strength to back up my mantle" she explained "Yeah your only nineteen right?" Jason asked "Yes I am even though Lance became Champion at the age of twenty one I'm the getting flak for my age then again he wasn't the only Wataru to become champion" she said.
Before Emily and Jason could ask anymore questions I stepped in "Our you gonna be docking in Vermillion?" I asked "Yeah I'm actually leaving first thing in the morning why?" she said "Because that's our first stop for the gym circuit so we can meet up if you want" after listening she responded "Yeah let's do it, alright I gotta go see you when I see yah" she finished off with a peace sign before hanging up when I bid her farewell.
We continued on a way when Emily asked me question "How come your dad took your moms name" she asked curiously "My grandparents on my dads side weren't good people and we'll leave it at that" I said cryptically as they both stared at me walking ahead showing I wasn't willing to divulge in the subject.
19 minutes later...
We finally see natural light for the first time in days and I made a mental note to myself to not travel through a cave for awhile "So your biracial Dante and can you only speak Kantonese" Jason asked curiously "I can hold conversations pretty well I used to go to Alola for a few summers to Visit Haunani after the war ended, we were always meaning to visit each other just wish it was under better circumstances" I said as I climbed on the ladder leading to the exit followed by Jason and Emily "How come she didn't take care of you?, trainers are technically considered adults?" Emily asked "So she can focus on her responsibilities I would've hated myself if she neglected it was a good thing my teacher took custody over me" I said as Emily looked to consider what came out her mouth next "Who's your teacher?" She asked curiously "Well since I told you about my cousin, Agatha she's my teacher and guardian she was was also my sister's mentor when she was elected a Elite Four Trainee" I told them "Jeez no wonder your strong man she must've taught you a lot of her techniques" Jason said "Kinda she taught me the basics of her battle style and her techniques but I mainly learned from myself she was really hands off when teaching me I picked up a lot from my sisters notebooks with her teams techniques and her own style the most" I stated "What was she like, what type of Pokémon did she have" Emily asked "She was kind but powerful and knew when to get mean and knew when to use her head, her starter was a Persian named Basest she was also her most skilled her most powerful was her second Pokémon Tyranitar she named Gojira who she could mega evolve, her Noivern who was swift and deadly he played the role of assassin for her strategies, her Froslass Yuki played a similar role though was more of a hit and runner in comparison, Polaris her shiny Magnezone who was a healthy mix of Basest and Gojira, and finally Ruby the Starmie she relied on technique and skill, she had more I just don't remember them because those six were her main team" I said as we made it to the exit of the cave and put on sunglasses to protect our eyes as we walked through the exit and were met with lush greenery and Pokémon and trainers "She sounded strong" Emily said to which I nodded and said "Agatha thought she had potential to not only surpass her but Lance" I said sadly which Emily and Jason caught "So Emily which way do we go from here never been to Vermillion City before" Jason asked more for the sake of taking my attention off my sister, I was grateful "Yeah do we go left or right from here?" I asked Emily who smiled "It's the left path follow me" Jason and I followed the older teen to our first challenge.
