Lucifer wasn't lying when he told Mia that she was beautiful. She had the same humanoid appearance in her picture as him and Charlie did. Well, more Charlie than himself.
The picture was of her and her daughter at what looked like it could have been some type of party or festivity. They both had a drink in their hands.
Mia's demon wings were small at her back and her long tail looked a bit stiff, probably from the long evening she was having in the picture, and her horns were small and barely came out of her brunette hair. Her daughter had her demon genetics with the matching horns, wings and tail.
He sighed looking at the image. It was just a picture but he was hoping that perhaps they could have an encounter. It had been a few days and their messages were fewer because of her work.
He grinned smugly to himself thinking about her words, "I'm going to need space with messaging you. I am prioritizing my phone and you over my work."
His last reply was that he was happy to take up so much of her space.
And truly he was, because now he was going to Cannibal Town to scope out the plant shop and hopefully bump into a brunette with the most adorable tiny horns.
Lucifer didn't want to risk losing a close encounter so he was sure to also make a reservation for lunch near Rosie's Emporium. It was just the place that could have been the 'fancy ass restaurant' that she went to with her friend.
And of course he wasn't going alone. . . He had Charlie with him.
If he did bump into Mia he could introduce them and it wouldn't look like he was trying to find her.
"The Little Shop of Venus is just up there." Charlie pointed to the Victorian building with wrapping vines on the pillars. She was just as excited with the prospects of meeting the woman that had her father miss a step and fall down a flight of stairs.
All because he didn't want to look up from his phone.
They entered the plant shop that was covered with greenery. There were few colors and mostly just different shades of green.
"Oh, Your Majesty. What can I do for you today?" A woman tending to a bulb-like plant asked from behind a counter.
He went to touch a plant but it snapped at him, "Shit. Down little ducky." He swats at it and addresses the woman, "I was actually looking to see about a customer of yours. She says that she frequently buys plants. She's constantly killing them and replacing them. Was here a few days ago."
"There aren't really any repeat customers that come in. And she's gotta be pretty strong if that's the plant she's killin'." The woman points to the plant that snapped at him.
"Are you sure?" He pulls out his phone and shows the woman the picture of Mia.
"I would remember a beaut like that. Haven't seen her."
"Ooooh, How much is that little plant?" Charlie points to a miniature version of the larger plant.
Lucifer dissociates as he pays for the plant for Charlie. He was fucking positive that this was the place that Mia was going to. Was there another location that sold plants?
"Dad, take a picture. You can send it to Mia."
They left the shop and he took a picture of Charlie's face next to the venus fly trap. The picture was probably more zoomed than it needed to be. The screen being only Charlie's face and the plant.
Lou: "Went to look at the plants you keep killing. Charlie ended up getting this little guy."
The message was read but there wasn't an instant response. She did say that she had to get work done.
Him and Charlie made their way to their lunch reservation. When they were checking in, he took out his phone and showed the attendant, "Have you seen this woman? I think she was here the other day but she was covered in blood."
The cannibal furrowed their brows and shook their head.
Lucifer turns the phone back to himself and looks at the picture of the woman. No doubt she would have been remember-able. These just had to have been different locations.
She finished the mural. It took three days and she went over her paint budget but the end product was beautiful.
We took a shower and watered her plants before heading to her bed to finally talk to Lou. She saw the notification bars tell her that she had missed messages from him. It felt like the hardest thing to ignore.
She would ask herself irrational questions. Like, what if he was hurt or in trouble? But then she'd remember that they've only been talking for about 2 weeks and if there was an emergency he'd probably call but most of all he'd contact his daughter.
Lou: "I know you need 'space' maybe you should have been an astronaut in your past life."
Lou: "I know it hasn't been long but not talking these past few days make it feel like we've been talking for months."
Lou: "Went to look at the plants you keep killing. Charlie ended up getting this little guy."

Mia takes a moment to walk to her kitchen and take a picture of her own plant and send it back to him. "I also have one of those little guys. I haven't killed this one. I've grown too attached."
Lou: "I HAVE NEVER dropped everything so fast for a notification."
Mia: "I feel like I've been waiting forever for this project to be done."
Lou: "That's because it did take fucking forever. You need a new job with more freedoms."
She laughed dryly to herself.
Mia: "I actually have more free will now then I did before. Nothing is worse than being chained to someone else's work. Natalie always encouraged me to go out and do my own stuff."
The fear of the Read and the three buffering dots didn't worry Mia like they did when she first started messaging Lou. She had learned how they communicate and that he was okay with her being a bit more blunt and straightforward.
Lou: "Can I call you? I wanna hear your voice?"
"Holy Fuck. I'm not ready." She sat upright and spoke at the phone. Talking. Voices. She wasn't an introvert but in that moment she could have fooled herself because talking on the phone suddenly scared the crap out of her.
She didn't even have time to fully process as the Vox Tech Dating App started to ring and she knew exactly who was on the other side.
Mia took a deep breath and answered the phone. Putting it on speaker.
"Hello?"
