Chapter 5: Reunited

Shadow was speeding through the streets of the pale city determined to find Six again all the while staying on constant alert ready to fight off any other monsters that might appear. After a while, he slowed down and walked for a while to have a little bit of time to think all about the events that happened recently. Many people could be seen eating at nearby restaurants but Shadow didn't care and quite frankly the guests didn't really care since they were too busy eating to notice Shadow outside.

Shadow began to think how he was going to try and rescue Six since it would be a little difficult because as far as he was concerned, The Thin Man was still out there lingering around and he had made up his mind that he wouldn't let him escape if the two fought again. He was then distracted by his thoughts when he heard a loud scream. Setting those thoughts aside, He quickly sped off to investigate.

When he found the source of the scream he saw Six who was no longer in a monster form and backed up to a building with The Thin Man walking menacingly towards her. He tried to grab her but ultimately ripped her raincoat off and disintegrated it into static. "You're going to pay for what you did to me!" he bellowed towards her. Six was nearly bursting into tears and as she closed her eyes tightly waiting for something bad to happen, a bright yellow spear flew between them. They both turned to the source and saw Shadow standing right nearby and shocking them both.

"Well, well, well. We meet again… Shadow The Hedgehog." The Thin Man told him.

Shadow was confused. He didn't tell The Thin Man who he was once, let alone his name during their fight. The last thing he remembered was that The Thin Man referred to him as a small filthy rat so how could he have known his name?

" How do you know my name?", Shadow asked.

"Come on Shadow." The Thin Man said. " After our big adventure together through the Pale City, helping me in the school, and saving me in the hospital, you seriously don't remember me?"

Shadow was confused how The Thin Man could have remembered those events even though he wasn't even there when it happened. He then thought back throughout his encounters and then realized who was standing right before him.

"Mono? Is that You?", Shadow asked.

"You've figured it out. Well done Shadow." The Thin Man replied with a sarcastic clap. After Mono had turned into The Thin Man, he had tried to find and get revenge on Six for what she had done to him. Once he had finally found her, he wasn't really expecting to see Shadow. He was starting to wonder if Shadow could be trusted since he'd already been betrayed once and hoped Shadow wouldn't do the same.

Shadow had then noticed Six was still in shock from seeing him because the last thing she saw of him was that he sacrificed himself to save her and was thankfully glad he was alive. " Are you okay? ", Shadow asked her to which she simply nodded.

" Oh don't try and tell her if she's okay Shadow! She doesn't deserve anything after what that little brat has done!" The Thin Man stated as he smashed his fist into one side of the building. Shadow didn't know what to think about what just happened but he knew whatever was going on, he had to get the poor girl out of there. In an instant, Shadow raced between them, grabbed Six and teleported the two of them out of there.

" Very Well Shadow… It appears that I'll have to go through you in order to get to her… and when we meet again… it will not be as allies.", The Thin Man said as he slowly turned to a nearby glowing TV and teleported away.

Once SHadow and Six teleported safely away to the dumpster around the back of the school, Shadow made a quick look to see if the Teacher was nearby and luckily, she was nowhere to be found, Shadow then turned around to see Six with tears in her eyes as she pulled the hedgehog into a hug and continued to sob into his fluffy white chest fur.

Shadow held her in his arms in his best attempt to try and comfort her. He really wasn't the best at this sort of situation but he was willing to try his best. " Don't cry Six", he told her.

"I- I thought that you were gone. I didn't know if- if I would ever see you again.", Six said as she kept crying a little more and held Shadow tighter.

"Don't worry. I'll be there anytime you need me. " Shadow reassured her. While she cried, she told him the whole story about what had happened with Mono in the tower when he had destroyed the music box that Shadow gave her and when she dropped Mono down into the abyss. To her surprise, Shadow told her that he completely understood as he thought that music box was precious to her as she described what had happened. After a couple minutes, Six began to calm down and began to wipe the tears from her cheeks.

"We're going to stick together okay." Shadow told her with Six nodding. Then the two looked up and the rain slowly began pouring down again.

" Let's go. We can't stay here.", Shadow said. He then picked her up in his arms and began walking down the road to find a way out of the city and end the nightmare. While their first adventure ended… another adventure was about to begin.
