Hey everyone, before we begin the new chapter I just want to apologize for the late update. The combination of work becoming a lot more stressful the last few weeks as well as some personal stuff left me very mentally drained that I needed some time off. Now that I'm better I will continue writing and hopefully I won't make you guys wait too long for the next chapter. I want to thank you again for your patience and understanding, so without further delay I hope you enjoy and have an awesome day.
The Slime and the Orc Lord part 2
This was it, in just under an hour we would go off to face a formidable enemy. From the reports given to the headmaster by Souei we would be facing an army of orcs 200,000 strong. Not only that but I was tasked by my godmother, a dryad, to be the one to defeat their leader the Orc Lord. To make matters more difficult some of my girlfriends insisted that they join us for the fighting ahead, I tried to talk them out of it but they were adamant about joining us. It wasn't because I doubted their ability to hold their own in a fight, I just didn't want them to be put in harms way. We barely got by last year with the incident involving Kuyo and his Security Committee and I didn't want to put the girls in a situation where they were in danger.
Kazuto: ( sigh ) How am I gonna get us out of this one?
Suphia: There you are Kazuto, I was hoping to find you before you guys left.
Ms. Suphia sat down on the log next to me as she wrapped her arm around mine as she rested her head on my shoulder. I know that she became an official part of my harem but I still felt nervous about having one of my teachers as my girlfriend.
Suphia: You look tense Kazuto, is everything alright?
Kazuto: S-Sorry, I'm just kind of nervous that's all.
It didn't take long for her to understand what I meant by that, so she decided to take the opportunity to have a little fun with me.
Suphia: ( smirk ) Oh I see, being alone with a stunning older woman out at night is rather exciting. Are you planning on doing something to me~?
She then reached for the zipper of her jacket as she undid it just a bit so I could see her cleavage. She even had this hungry look in her eyes as she licked her lips all while I could hear a low growl coming from her.
Suphia: There's no need to worry, I'll guide you every. Step. Of. The. Way~.
She began to lean in closer to me as I was on the verge of passing out from how fast my heart was beating, only for her to back up and start laughing.
Suphia: You should see the look on your face right now! You're so red it's adorable!
She then zipped up her jacket as she held my hand as I started getting my heart rate back to normal.
Suphia: Sorry about teasing you just now, I just wanted to take your mind off your worries for a bit.
Kazuto: I-It's okay, I was just surprised by how sudden it was.
Suphia: Well if you want we can try again for real this time.
Kazuto: M-Maybe some other time?
What the heck am I saying!? Do I have any idea how insane I sound right now!?
Suphia: Looking forward to it.
Say what? I looked over to see Suphia looking at the ground as she was blushing, all with a noticeable smile on her face. Soon enough I was blushing myself
Suphia: Seriously though, I just wanted to help you get out of your funk, you and others are going into battle soon and they're going to need you at your best if you want to make it back safely.
Kazuto: I know, but I just don't see how I can make a difference. I know Treyni asked me to beat the Orc Lord but I still have no idea how. I've been mulling it over in my head for days and I can't find a solution for all of this.
Suphia: I can't blame you, what we're facing isn't something you see every day. Honestly there's a part of me that doesn't fully trust that dryad. I know she's your godmother and all but how does she expect you to defeat a formidable monster so easily?
Kazuto: ( sigh ) I don't know, but regardless I still have to try. Even if I don't think I'm ready I still have too much to lose if I should fail.
I moved closer to her to hug her tightly as she took a second to reciprocate the gesture.
Kazuto: I have friends and family that could be in a lot of danger should the orc army be allowed to continue unchecked. Not to mention that you girls are counting on me as well. That's why even if I'm scared of the battle ahead I won't run away. I will fight, and I will come back to all of you.
Suphia: ( chuckle ) I know you will. And don't worry about Yokai Academy, we'll make sure nothing happens to the students and staff with us guarding the place. Just focus on taking down the overgrown pile of bacon and coming back home to us.
Suphia then locked lips with me as I gently caressed her hair all while I could feel her purring as we kissed. When we separated she was tearing up a bit as she got up and turned her back to me.
Suphia: I hope you liked that, it was my first kiss. Good luck Kazuto. I'll be rooting for you and everyone else to make it back.
As she left to return to her room I took a moment to collect my thoughts before going to the main gate where everyone else would arrive to go off into battle. Once I made it there I was soon joined by everyone else who would join in the fight.
The people who would go into battle were:
- Me
- Moka
- Kurumu
- Mizore
- Rubi
- Benimaru and the Kijin ( except Shuna and Kurobe )
I was a little concerned that we would be the only ones going to fight, especially if we were expected to beat 200,000 orcs all on our own. However, seeing the faces of my friends helped me find the resolve to push forward. The headmaster was with us as well as some of our friends to give us some words of encouragement before we left.
Headmaster: Remember this, aside from defeating the Orc Lord it is imperative that you all return to us. Our victory means nothing if we lose you to our enemies.
Hakurou: There's no need for concern, I'm sure we're more than capable of handling ourselves out there.
Benimaru: We'll make sure they pay for what they've done, as well as stop them before more harm should come to anyone else.
Headmaster: Very well.
He then turned and faced us as he called Moka over to him. He then explained that he wished to perform a spell over her that would temporarily make her immune to the effects of water since the battle would be taking place in the marshlands where she could easily be exposed to her biggest weakness. A blue magic circle appeared beneath Moka as her body glowed with a blue aura before dissipating.
Headmaster: This protection spell will only last about 24 hours. I don't think I need to remind you that it is imperative to make the most of it.
Moka: Understood.
Kazuto: I guess we better get going.
Kurobe: Hey! Hold on a second!
Gin: Wait for us!
We then saw the two of them running to our location with some items in their arms. When they got closer we saw various types of weapons that they gave to each of the girls who volunteered to join us during the meeting.
Kurobe: Thank goodness we made it before you all left. After the meeting I spent the last several days putting the finishing touches on these new magical items for the four of you.
Gin: It's a good thing I ran into him otherwise he might have missed you girls.
Each one of the girls inspected their selected item. Moka's was a pair of black fingerless gloves that went up to her elbow that had some gold plate armor on the back with silver studs on the back of the hands.
( Quick note: think of the design as similar to the ones worn by Jin in the Tekken series. )
Kurobe: Moka, those gloves you're wearing will allow you to strike much harder than before. You can even focus your monster energy into them for some powerful long range attacks.
Moka: Amazing.
Kurumu held in her hands a whip made with the skin of a Black Serpent and the handle was adorned with 5 jewels.
Kurobe: Kurumu, that whip in your hands is made from the skin of a Black Serpent. Not only is it incredibly durable but using the gems embedded into the handle you can imbue it with either fire, water, earth, lightning or wind based attacks.
Kurumu: Awesome!
Mizore held two black metal fans, one of them was lined in gold with the design of a setting sun while the other was lined with silver and the design of a crescent moon. Both fans had a light blue gem in the middle of their handles in the shape of a yin and yang symbol.
Kurobe: Mizore the fans you carry each contain an ice gem that will greatly improve the effects of your ice attacks when you use them. Like with the other weapons all you need to do is focus your energy into them to activate it.
Mizore: Cool.
Finally Rubi put a small white and blue charm on her wand that resembled a small key. When she did her wand briefly glowed with a radiant rainbow light as the gem in the middle of her wand continued to change colors every few seconds.
Kurobe: Last but not least Rubi, that charm was made using the essence of magical gems. Utilizing one of the elemental powers will change the shape of your wand to better magnify that specific power during battle.
Rubi: Incredible.
As for myself I pulled out the katana gifted to me and wore it around my hip. I then contacted Ranga to appear and to my surprise not only did he appear from my own shadow with a pack of wolves but he was also much larger than before. I also then noticed that he now had two horns on his head similar to my direwolf form.
Kazuto: What the heck happened Ranga, last time I saw you you were just a puppy.
Ranga: It is thanks to you that I have obtained this form. Ever since my evolution upon receiving a name you have allowed me to grow stronger. As a result not only has my appearance changed but I have now gained a pack that is at your beck and call.
Headmaster: How very fortunate, you have an entire pack of direwolves at your disposal.
Ranga: Actually because of the name given to me by my master our name as a pack has changed. Now we are no longer known as direwolves, from this day forward we shall be known as Tempest Wolves.
Kazuto: That sounds totally awesome. And judging by the looks of things it looks like we have enough for everyone to pair up with a wolf for our trip.
Headmaster: I already changed the parameters of the tunnel's magic capabilities. Once you exit you will arrive at a forest just on the outskirts of the swamplands. From there you must hurry to meet with Abiru's forces as well as the Orc army. Once again I want to remind you all to prioritize coming back alive if the need calls for it. I won't stand for you risking your lives if you're unable to defeat the enemy.
Rubi: Understood.
Benimaru: We better get going, we can't allow the lizardmen to fight alone.
Before I could climb on top of Ranga I got a hug from Framea and Miia as they each kissed my cheek.
Framea: Please come back with everyone else.
Miia: We'll be waiting for you Darling.
Kazuto: I will, I promise.
As soon as we were all finished we said our final goodbyes as we set off towards the tunnel. As we passed through I only became more anxious about the coming battle, something that didn't go unnoticed by Ranga.
Ranga: Is everything alright master? You look very nervous.
Kazuto: I guess I'm not that good at hiding my emotions. Honestly I'm afraid. This is going to be the biggest battle we've ever faced. I don't know if I have what it takes to beat the Orc Lord. What if I mess up and everybody ends up paying the price?
Ranga: If I may, I don't think it's as hopeless as you think master. Everyone who is traveling alongside you, as well as those whose wishes and hopes are given to you, they are all lending you their strength to see the journey through. Your friends, family, they are all battling with you tonight. That is the true strength of a pack, one that can only be brought out by the bonds you share.
I took a moment to take in those words as a small chuckle escaped my lips as a gave Ranga a pat on the head.
Kazuto: Thanks Ranga, I needed to hear that.
A few moments later and soon we exited the tunnel and ended up in a forest as the headmaster had explained earlier. It was quiet for the most part but that didn't mean we could let our guard down.
Kazuto: Souei, you said that you had your doubles scouting the area correct?
Souei: I did. From what they could find we should be in the clear for the time being. However I do suggest keeping up our guard in case of any unexpected visitors.
Kazuto: Agreed. Ranga tell your wolves to assume a defensive formation in case of an ambush.
Ranga: Yes my master!
With a single howl the other wolves formed up in a neat little group to keep us ready for any unseen circumstances. Great Sage would alert me in time just in case as we kept our focus on traveling to our destination.
90 minutes had gone by and so far our journey had gone smoothly for the most part, I was starting to consider having us take a break for the time being until Souei relayed a message to me using Thought Communication.
Souei: ( Kazuto, there's something I need to report. )
Kazuto: ( What's up. Are we about to be ambushed? )
Souei: ( No, my doubles haven't spotted anything like that. However one of them has spotted a small skirmish between a group of orcs and Souka. )
Kazuto: ( Souka? Isn't she the daughter of the headmaster's friend from the meeting? )
Souei: ( Correct, she's having a difficult time fending the enemy off. )
Kazuto: ( I see. Can your double fight them off? )
Souei: ( I believe so. )
Kazuto: ( Go ahead. Make sure to get Souka away from danger first and we'll make a quick detour to her location. Lead the way Souei. )
Souei: ( Yes. )
Kazuto: Everyone look sharp, we're making a quick stop to help out one of our allies! The enemies number may be small but regardless stay alert at all times!
Others: Yes Sir!
Kazuto: ( Sir? I could get used to this. )
Thankfully it didn't take long for us to make it to our next stop. When we arrived we expected to come face to face with a small group of orcs ready to tear us apart. Instead we saw a small group of lifeless bodies scattered around while Souei went to check up on Souka as his double continued to monitor the surrounding area just in case.
Kurumu: Hold on, did he finish them all off on his own?
Benimaru: It would seem so. He could've at least left a few for us to fight.
I walked over to him to see him holding Souka in her monster form. She was bleeding pretty badly as her body was riddled with deep cuts and nasty bruises.
Kazuto: How bad are her injuries?
Souei: Her wounds are critical, another minute later and we might've been too late.
Not wasting time I took out a full potion and applied it to her. Luckily we made it in time to save her as her injuries disappeared before our eyes. It didn't take much longer for her to open her eyes and see that not only was she alive but the enemy had been defeated.
Souka: What happened? I thought my wounds were deeper?
Kazuto: They were, but I used a potion to heal you.
Souka: Thank you.
She suddenly got down on all fours as she began pleading to us. Apparently her brother, a young man by the name of Gabiru, had somehow gotten the idea to face the orc army head on. Rather than listen to his father's orders he decided to hold a rebellion and imprison his father, Souka and anyone who sided with them while he and his men went off into battle.
Souka: My brother doesn't know about the Orc Lord's abilities to grow stronger as they consume their enemies. If we don't hurry our entire army will be wiped off the face of the earth. I beg you, please help us!
Before I could say anything Shion walked up to her and helped her up.
Shion: There's no need for concern. I can assure you that your request will be fulfilled. After all you recognize Kazuto's greatness which speaks of your incredible potential!
Say what now? Since when did Shion start acting like my personal secretary? Well she does have the looks, not to mention that she already accepted work on my behalf.
Kazuto: Well if our allies are in danger then we are obligated to assist them. Souei can you use Shadow Movement to help out Souka rescue her father and his allies?
Souei: Of course.
He sounds very confident, I guess there's no need to worry about his ability to do so. After the two of them departed we continued on our journey to meet the enemy. 30 minutes had gone by and we could finally see the edge of the forest. We stood over the edge of a cliff as an entire marshland expanded before us. From our current location we could see the massive army of orcs easily outnumber the lizardmen by a considerable amount, in fact it was almost no contest to see who had the biggest army.
Kurumu: Kazuto look over there!
We looked to the far side of the battlefield and saw a small group of lizards finally take down an enemy orc. After his body fell the remaining orcs moved in to consume their comrade as they glowed with the same dark aura that enveloped Saizou a while back. We then heard a scream coming from the opposite direction as a lone lizardman was severely outnumbered before being eaten alive.
Moka: How horrible.
Rubi: So that's the power of Starved.
Mizore: What should we do Kazuto?
Everyone looked to me for an answer. At first I thought that we were way in over our heads, but I remembered what Ranga told me earlier. People were counting on me to help fight alongside them, I had to remember that I wasn't doing this by myself. With a renewed determination I looked over the battlefield and gave my orders.
Kazuto: Benimaru, Hakurou, Shion, Souei!
Kijin: Yes!
All of them bowed to me by getting down on one knee, including the double of Souei that appeared from the shadows, as they all prepared themselves for battle.
Kazuto: I need you four to keep our enemies attention on you. Benimaru and Shion, you'll hit them with your strongest attacks to thin out their numbers!
Benimaru/Shion: Yes sir!
Kazuto: Souei if you can manage it make a few more doubles to finish up enemies where their defenses are weakest. Once you do join up with Hakurou who will be taking out their more speedy troops.
Great Sage informed me that after that lone lizard soldier was eaten that they successfully gained its abilities which meant that the orcs now had a much easier time on the terrain which could make things difficult for us if we didn't do something about it soon.
Hakurou/Souei: Yes sir!
Kazuto: Ranga take your wolves and head for the center of the battlefield, help out our trapped allies and take out as much of the enemy as possible.
Ranga: Yes my master!
Kazuto: Move out!
All of them immediately set out on their assigned tasks, I was afraid of letting Benimaru go into battle against the very enemy that caused him and the other kijin so much pain. However that fear began to dwindle once I saw the fire in their eyes, they were ready to meet the enemy head on and face them without hesitation.
Rubi: Kazuto, what should we do. We aren't just going to stay behind are we?
I looked to the girls who joined me, despite not having anything to do with the battle they chose to join us regardless of the danger ahead.
Kazuto: I want the four of you to join me. Our mission is to find the Orc Lord. Once we do I'll face him myself while the rest of you work together to defeat any stragglers. We'll do our best to dwindle their forces but be ready for a grueling battle. Are you with me?
They simply chose to bow as the others did and looked at me full of confidence.
Girls: Until death do us part.
I wasn't expecting them to say that, but I guess they wanted to show me how much they were prepared to risk their lives in this. Before we set out I pulled off Moka's rosary and once she completed her transformation we proceeded to our mission.
Inner Moka: Time to teach them their place.
With a nod I took one last look at the enemy army before we set out for battle.
Kazuto: Orc Lord, we're going to end you.
( Timeskip brought to you by chibi Kokoa sneaking away from Yokai Academy. )
The battle had finally begun. While Benimaru and the others kept most of the enemy occupied it was up to the five of us to find the Orc Lord and finish him off. While Kurumu, Rubi and I lead the way by flying Mizore and Moka were behind us on foot. For the first few minutes we weren't detected by the enemy, however all good things must come to an end and soon we were surrounded by a small group of orc soldiers.
Rubi: So much for the stealth approach.
Orc Soldier: So the lizards are now looking for help from children? How very disappointing, they probably aren't even worth devouring.
Mizore: I'd be careful about what you're saying, we may just surprise you.
Orc Soldier 2: Hmph, it doesn't matter. Once we finish with you no one will stand in our way!
Before they could make a move we felt the earth shake and the sound of a powerful explosion can be heard in the distance. We then saw a massive dome of black fire engulfing a good portion of the opposing army as their numbers began to slowly decline followed by the screams of the enemy before fading away into silence. That didn't last long since several more similar explosions began to cover the battlefield one after another.
Orc Soldier: What is this, where is that power coming from?
Kurumu: Alright, looks like it's finally starting!
Over with Benimaru, he had finished releasing his new technique on a small group of orcs which instantly incinerated them into nothing more than ash.
Orc Soldier: Who are you? We've never seen your kind before.
Benimaru: You mean you don't recognize us? That's quite a shame really. You devoured our village and its people.
Orc Soldier 3: Those horns... are you ogres?
Benimaru: Are we? I suppose that's one reason why you don't recognize us. However I do believe you have other things to worry about.
Hakurou: Well then, I suppose it's time we got started.
Shion: Yes, and we have Kazuto to thank for giving us this opportunity.
Benimaru: I'll say it once more, you'd best move out of our way. Unless of course you prefer to die an agonizing death!
His threats did their job in keeping the enemy from doing anything. He then conjured a small ball of fire and threw it at them. It wasn't fast enough for the orcs to be caught off guard as they easily avoided it, but what they failed to realize was once it reached a certain distance Benimaru ignited the explosion catching some of the enemy in its blast.
Ranga and his wolves had successfully kept the lizardmen safe so far. However his patience began to grow thin as the enemy general kept insulting him and his pack since they arrived.
Orc General: You say that you were sent here by a master, Kazuto Tempest correct? He must be a fool, thinking that a bunch of mangy mutts have the power to defeat the likes of us! How utterly pathetic!
Ranga: ( growling ) Very well then, you asked for it.
Thunder then began to echo throughout the battlefield, as clouds began to gather the wind started to rage as several tornadoes began to form around the enemy.
Kazuto: W-WHAT THE WHAT?!
Multiple orcs began being carried off by the violent gales as they were helpless to avoid its wrath. The enemy general did his best to fight it but in the end he too was helpless against a force of nature. Once he reached the same heights as his men several bolts of lightning as black as night struck instantly vaporizing all the orcs caught within.
Kazuto: ( Great Sage, what was that? )
Great Sage: Answer: the wide area attack is a skill from the individual Ranga known as Death Storm.
Kazuto: ( Oh. Sweet. )
Ranga: Do you see now filthy orcs, this is but a fraction of the power from someone you considered pathetic!
Gabiru: Umm there's no one there.
Ranga: Exactly!
Thankfully with everyone working together it looked like what was once a sizable army had begun to diminish.
Inner Moka: Well then, I suppose it's time for us to get to work. We can't let them have all the fun now can we?
Kazuto: You read my mind. Alright ladies let's get to work!
Girls: Right!
Moka was the first to rush at the enemy, as she closed in on her target she immediately repositioned herself behind them and delivered a punch hard enough that not only severely damaged their armor but also sent him flying that he crashed into another group of his own comrades.
Inner Moka: Not bad, I need to thank Kurobe for these gloves when we get back.
As she fought against another group Rubi kept the enemy at bay by blasting her magic at any orcs that tried to blindside us.Her wings allowed her better mobility as it kept her safe from any orcs that wanted to eat her as well as give her a birds eye view of the battlefield.
Rubi: Let's see what my new charm can do.
Rubi focused her magic and her wand began to glow before changing shape. Once it had changed its form her wand resembled a large key with a design that she would later call Void Gear.
Rubi: Have a taste of this, Stopga!
About 5 orcs were frozen in place as Rubi transformed her wand again, this time into a form she calls Flame Liberator.
Rubi: Firaga!
Balls of flame were shot at rapid succession as they engulfed the enemy, most of them were simply knocked out by the intense heat while others weren't so lucky.
Kurumu kept pace with Mizore as the two of them teamed up to take on a considerable amount of orcs together.
Kurumu: Sorry boys but you're dreaming if you think you can take on the two of us!
After carefully avoiding the swing of an enemy axe Kurumu harnessed the power of the earth gem embedded into her whips handle and struck the ground. The result was a ring of razor sharp spikes erupting from the ground that impaled the enemy quickly leaving them no chance to avoid it.
Mizore: Not bad. Now it's my turn.
Mizore used her fans to increase the output of her ice powers as she blasted the enemy back with fierce winds that helped slow them down. Afterwards she threw her fans around her as the sharp edges cut into them leaving them either with deep wounds on any exposed flesh or finishing them off immediately. They returned to her hand easily as she closed them before raising one above her head.
Mizore: Icicle Crash!
More orcs were immediately impaled by large icicles that came crashing down on them as those who managed to avoid it were hit with the shards that broke from the ones that made contact with the ground.
Kazuto: Awesome move girls, let's keep up the pressure!
Girls: Right!
A few orcs tried overwhelming me by brandishing their weapons but I was much faster than they were so avoiding their attacks was simple. I focused my energy into my sword and aimed for parts of their armor that provided little protection such as the joints or their neck. For the most part I was able to incapacitate most of them in a few swings while some of them I used Paralysis Breath to immobilize them immediately.
Kazuto: ( So far so good, hopefully we can find the Orc Lord before we expend too much energy. )
Suddenly I got a warning to back away quickly as a surge of energy was sent my way. After dodging the attack I saw a huge chunk of the ground missing as well as a generous portion of the enemy, the cause of it was due to Shion and her gigantic weapon. She then spotted me as she smiled in my direction and waved at me to notice her contribution to the battle.
Shion: Kazuto, did you see me!
Kazuto: Uh... yeah.
Remind me to never piss her off. Luckily for us it seemed that their numbers began to fall, hopefully we could keep up the momentum and finish this battle before long. As we kept battling against orc after orc I then received a message from Souei.
Souei: ( Kazuto I just finished rescuing Souka's father and his allies. I will switch places with one of my doubles momentarily. )
Kazuto: ( Excellent. I think we're close to securing our victory soon enough. )
Souei: ( That's actually another reason why I contacted you. Something about the orc army isn't right. )
Kazuto: ( What do you mean? )
Souei: ( I'm not sure why but for some reason they aren't as formidable as they were when they attacked our village. )
That was concerning, since Souei was the only one of us with any experience from the incident I had no reason to dismiss his words.
Kazuto: ( How formidable were they during the attack? )
Souei: ( So far they do seem much weaker than they were before. I have a bad feeling that they may be hiding their true strength. )
Kazuto: ( I see. Let Benimaru and the others know and I'll do the same with Ranga and the girls. )
Souei: ( I shall. )
A quick relay later and everyone began fighting a bit more efficiently. We didn't want to risk making a mistake this far in the battle so we took the opportunity to finish off the enemy as quick as we could.
Great Sage: Alert! High levels of monster energy detected. Destination seems to be this very battlefield.
The warning I received was then followed by a sharp whistling sound that grew louder as it came closer to us. From above I saw what looked like a red star shining in the distance before it immediately crash landed on the battlefield. From the smoke rose a mysterious individual dressed in white robes and wore a hood over his mask as he faced us. The fighting actually stopped as everyone gave their attention to the person who just showed up seemingly out of nowhere.
Gelmud: How dare you, how dare you interfere in the great Lord Gelmud's plans!
Obviously none of us knew who the heck this guy was, but judging by his demeanor he wasn't here for friendly conversation.
Gelmud: A new demon lord that was poised to do my bidding was about to be born! And you all had the nerve to interfere and ruin everything!
He then looked towards Benimaru's group and it seemed that his anger began to rise even further.
Gelmud: If your fool of a father hadn't defied my wishes that day you could have joined the winning side. At the very least he and those idiots that followed him made good food for our cause.
Hakurou: Now I understand.
Souei: That's why you attacked our village.
Shion: And killed our people!
So this guy was behind it all, even I was starting to shake with anger as well. And all of this was just to create some kind of pawn that he believed he could control? Disgusting, this plan of his was about to come crashing around him. And I was going to make sure of that personally.
Gabiru: Lord Gelmud have you come to rescue us at last! Thank goodness you showed up when you did.
Was this guy serious, did he honestly believe that Gelmud has any intention to help him? Judging by his behavior it's more than likely that he believes that to be the case.
Gelmud: Shut up you stupid lizards!
Gabiru: Huh?!
Gelmud: Why don't you make yourself useful and become food for the Orc Lord already!
Gabiru: What?!
Gelmud: Don't you understand how insignificant you truly are?! Your life is so utterly useless that you are nothing more than a nuisance to me! But if the Orc Lord devours you and absorbs your strength you can take pleasure in knowing that your death was actually worth something!
All of a sudden the army began to shift, from within their group came a large figure with an astonishing amount of power. The other orcs bowed to him as he made his way to Gelmud.
Kazuto: Is that him?
Great Sage: Based on the actions being taken by the orc army as well as the amount of magicules radiating from the source, it is very likely this individual is the fabled Orc Lord.
So that was him, he was even more imposing than I had originally thought. I could feel myself shaking from his presence alone. I then felt Kurumu holding my left hand as Mizore held my right. Moka and Rubi stood beside us as they all nodded to me letting me know that we would face this together.
I took a quick glimpse at Benimaru and the others to see them nod at me with the same look in their eyes. Even Ranga gave a low growl to show he and his pack were ready for battle.
Kazuto: ( Everyone, thank you. I promise you that we will make it out of here alive. I won't let you down. Not now, not ever! )
Gelmud: Ahh so the mighty Orc Lord has graced us with his presence at long last. Well there's no reason to wait on my account, dinner is served! Eat to your hearts content!
We prepared ourselves for a battle but surprisingly it never came. For some reason the Orc Lord just continued to stand in place, almost as if it had no idea what to do despite being given a direct order.
Geld: A new demon lord, I don't understand.
Gelmud: Tch, you really are an imbecile. It's you! You will become the demon lord, the Orc Disaster and help us take over both the monster and human worlds! That is what we desire, it is what he and I wanted and you will make our plans a reality!
Kazuto: He?
So Gelmud wasn't really behind all of this? Someone else was pulling the strings behind the scenes. And the Orc Lord seems to be unaware of what his true role was in all of this. I guess this is something we have to talk to the headmaster about when we get back. For now though it was better to focus more on our current task: take down the Orc Lord and as a bonus capture Gelmud for questioning.
Gelmud: Grr, why are you just standing there you big useless pig! I guess it's up to me to move things along, I didn't want to dirty my hands but I have no other choice! Now die!
He then prepared a large orb of magical energy that he threw over at Gabiru, once the smoke from the explosion had cleared we saw that Gabiru was actually protected by some of his comrades who took the attack head on for him.
Gabiru: NNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Gelmud: Now you will serve as food for the Orc Lord! This is the power of a superior majin! Take this! Death March Dance!
The second orb he created soon grew into a larger size as he raised it above his head. It then split into multiple smaller orbs that shot out at high speed. Before reaching Gabiru I stood in the way of the attack and started absorbing the individual attacks with Predator. After a few seconds it was shown that no further harm came to Gabiru as he stood there in shock of what he just saw.
Gelmud: Impossible, how could my attack be nullified so easily?!
Kazuto: Unbelievable, you say that attack was superior? There's no way you could kill anyone with that weak sauce move.
Before he could respond I binded him with my threads so he wouldn't get away as I handed several healing potions to Gabiru so he could heal his friends. In the end he wasn't such a bad guy, he was just tricked that's all. I once again put my focus on Gelmud, after all he needed to answer for his crimes against my family and I was not about to let him off easy.
Gelmud: Unhand me! Do you have any idea who you're-...!
Rather than listen to him I just gave him a few punches to the gut to keep him quiet.
Kazuto: You kept making yourself out as some kind of powerful majin, but you're not all that special.
Gelmud: How dare you! You dare lay your lands on someone like-...!
I gave him another hit as well as a kick that knocked him on his ass. I could easily tell he was starting to freak out and rightfully so. Truth be told I was holding back a bit since we needed answers otherwise I wouldn't have shown this much mercy.
Gelmud: Aaauuuggghhhh! Damn you! You're dead do you hear me!
Kazuto: You said " he " earlier, just who were you talking about anyway?
Realizing that he had no way of getting out of this situation on his own he decided to run back to the Orc Lord and beg for his assistance. Gelmud definitely treated the Orc Lord as another tool that he could easily dispose of whenever he wanted, he kept berating him as if he were some kind of servant he could easily push around. The rest of us knew better, it may have not been clear but the Orc Lord was about to take charge and he knew it too. Once he began to move Gelmud assumed that he was finally getting through to him to do his bidding.
Gelmud: Now do you see, you fools will rue the day you decided to interfere with my plan-...!
One strike, one kill. His head and body lay lifeless on the ground as blood began to stain the grass red. The Orc Lord wasted no time devouring his fallen master, not only that but he also happened to eat a small black gem that fell from one of the robes pockets that felt eerily familiar to me.
Great Sage: Notice: the Orc Lord's magicule count is beginning to increase exponentially.
An aura of magic began to envelop him as he grew bigger than before, his physical and magical strength skyrocketed as he surrounded himself in a green and black aura of magical energy.
Great Sage: Warning, the Orc Lord has successfully evolved into the Demon Lord known as the Orc Disaster.
With a mighty roar the newly christened Orc Disaster made his power known throughout the battlefield as his army gave us a wide berth as the battle was now solely between their new lord and those who opposed him.
Geld: I am the Orc Disaster! And I will devour everything in this world! My name is Geld! Geld the new demon lord!
Kazuto: ( If I don't do something to stop him it really will be a disaster. )
The moment of truth has finally arrived, if we wanted to protect everything and everyone that mattered to us we couldn't afford to give this battle anything less than our best. Before any orders were given both Shion and Moka rushed at the Orc Disaster without a second thought.
Kazuto: Shion! Moka!
Benimaru: There's no need for concern Kazuto, let us handle it.
Shion: You dare call yourself a demon lord, that's some ego!
Inner Moka/Shion: Now, prepare to die!
Shion leapt into the air and swung her sword in an attempt to overwhelm her opponent only for him to block with his own knife that resembled an oversized meat cleaver. After holding her off and pushing Shion back he had to contend with Moka's powerful strikes. Every one of her strikes was more than enough to finish off any other opponent in a single hit, however this enemy was not going down that easily. She struck hard and fast but the Orc Disaster was fast enough to block her strikes with his blade and tough enough to endure each hit.
Inner Moka: I'll give you credit you're definitely tough if you haven't gone down yet. But don't think this is all I've got!
Moka then utilized the training she got from Hakurou and used the flash step technique. She began moving around at insane bursts of speed in an attempt to blindside him only for her to be grabbed in her attempt to kick him before getting flung back to us. Thankfully she was able to land safely beside us as Shion rushed in to take her place in the battle.
Inner Moka: Damn, I wasn't expecting him to react so quickly.
Kurumu: You did your best, let's just be glad we can keep fighting.
As Shion closed in on her target the Orc Disaster was ready to clash blades with her once more, only she wasn't his true enemy. In a quick flash that was almost too fast for me to follow Hakurou was suddenly standing behind him when all of a sudden his head fell off his body.
Kazuto: They got him?
Rubi: I don't think so, look!
We were all stunned to see not only had the Orc Disaster not die in front of us, but also pick up his severed head and place it back on his body as these green tendrils came out from the wound and reattached the head as if the injury never happened.
Kazuto: That's some insane healing power.
After mending himself he was then surrounded by a large ball of threads that had him trapped, this was thanks to Souei putting to use the thread technique I showed him during our training.
Souei: Benimaru, now!
Benimaru: Take this, Hell Flare!
The small ball of black fire was launched and ignited in the same manner that was used earlier, and while our enemy burned within Ranga utilized Black Lightning and struck the moment the flames died out. However using the technique drained the last of his magic power so I had him retreat into my shadow to rest. At first it seemed like the combination of attacks would be enough to severely damage him, but to our surprise he was mildly burned at best and still standing.
Geld: So this... is pain?
Mizore: No way, he survived that?
Orc Soldier: My lord, I offer my body to you.
One of the soldiers knelt to his king and allowed himself to be eaten alive to renew his strength. Not only could we see his strength renewed I could also sense his magical energy mending any other injuries he may have sustained during the last few minutes.
Kazuto: So he's got self regeneration and healing magic. This could be trouble.
Geld: Not enough, I need more food. Give it to me!
A familiar orb of magical energy then formed in the Orc Disaster's hand, he then threw it at us as it split into smaller orbs that targeted our group. Fortunately I was able to absorb them as easily as before all the while getting myself ready to take him on myself.
Kazuto: Guess it's our turn.
Benimaru: Kazuto?
Kazuto: Don't worry, let us handle this. Let's go ladies.
Girls: Right!
The Kijin did their job, now it was our time to show them the results of our training. As we marched forward I figured it was time to show them something new. We stopped just several feet in front of our enemy as my body surrounded itself in black flames, when they settled I was now in my new ultimate form courtesy of Kuyo's powers.
( Quick note: Kazuto's new form somewhat resembles Naruto's when he first got control of Kurama's chakra except for the color of the flames. Blackish blue fire will make up the whole form and you can't see his face except for his white glowing eyes. His hair is standing on end so it looks spikey and his fire makes a headband appear on his head. His tails will still be a black fire that glows white on the inside. Also he has the same markings on his body as Naruto did in this form only they glow white. )
Kazuto: Let's go.
As we charged ahead the Orc Disaster produced these reddish black snakes from his body that instantly attacked us.
Geld: Devour them! Chaos Eater!
We were all able to avoid touching them as it showed whatever they came in to contact with instantly rotted away.
Kurumu: Mizore, let's try that combo move we came up with during training!
Mizore: Alright, I'm right behind you!
The two of them rushed forward with no hesitation, Kurumu used her illusion abilities to make the Orc Disaster think there were multiple copies of them attacking from all sides while they attacked using their claws. Because his senses were thrown off he had a difficult time figuring out where to attack as they had no problems doing so themselves. They narrowly avoided a swipe from his knife as they jumped into the air before delivering a powerful slash across his torso.
Kurumu/Mizore: Black and white duet #1!
The injuries they left were pretty brutal, all thanks to them mastering Hakurou's Battle Will technique, but we all knew it was only seconds before they disappeared so we needed to keep up the pressure.
Kazuto: Moka you're with me, Rubi start charging up your magic!
Inner Moka: You got it!
Rubi: Sure thing!
While Rubi flew above us to charge safely Moka and I began an onslaught of attacks. Using our speed and strength we fought with a combination of close and long range attacks. First we battled up close and personal with a barrage of punches and kicks before switching to attacking with fire balls and long range magic punches respectively as the Orc Disaster did his best do defend himself, as he tried to attack Moka with his knife she blocked it with her arms leaving him open for me to attack with my sword from behind. During their struggle Moka was pushed back as the orc met my blade with his.
Kazuto: ( Nice! )
While our blades were locked I ignited my katana with my flames, thanks to using my Multilayer Barrier on my sword not only did it prevent it from being destroyed by my fire but it also amplified the intensity making it more powerful than before. In the end I won our little stand off as his blade caught on fire and he had no choice but to break the clash between us and discard his weapon.
Geld: Impossible!
The moment his blade was burned away completely I rushed in with my sword and cut off his left arm and used my fire to prevent him from regenerating. Unfortunately this was also when I reverted back to my human form since I wasn't used to using that state for extended periods of time.
Kazuto: ( Crap I ran out of time, hopefully we did enough damage to him at least. )
Rubi: Kazuto I'm ready!
Kazuto: Okay let's do it!
I brought out my dragon wings and flew up to meet her, I then created an orb of magical energy and some wind magic as Rubi transformed her wand into its Olympia form and harnessed powerful lightning into her hand as she infused it with my orb.
Rubi: I can't believe we're actually going to do this!
Kazuto: I know, pretty cool right?
Rubi: Totally!
We then flew higher before coming back down at incredible speed with our magic combined into a combo move that we affectionately called...
Kazuto/Rubi: RASENGAN!!!
The moment we made contact the energy was so intense that we had to back off before we could get caught in it ourselves. After the explosion had ended we could see some heavy damage but the orc still stood without fail.
Inner Moka: Just what will it take to beat him?
Kurumu: No clue, but hopefully we caused some kind of damage.
Somehow I doubted whatever damage we caused would be permanent, we then see the orc noticed that his arm wasn't regenerating thanks to the black flames nullifying his healing so he tore off more of his own arm so it could grow back without issue.
???: No my lord!
A powerful aura of energy then enveloped him as his missing limb and all his recent injuries were healed. He then formed two orbs of energy in his hands and prepared to throw them at us.
Geld: I'm done playing games, I will devour you!
The energy he threw at us split up but I was ready for them with a technique he hasn't seen yet. Just like before I absorbed his attack only this time I collected the energy and harnessed it into a small black and blue energy orb in the palm of my hand.
Kazuto: Nice trick, let's see what you think of mine. Dark Gluttony!
I sent the energy back at him as a concentrated beam of magic that pierced his head, while it did cause him to stumble back for a moment it only served to make him more mad as he healed in only a matter of seconds.
Kazuto: Tch, guess that wasn't enough. Let's try something else.
The Orc Disaster rushed towards us as we jumped out of the way of his attack. I then placed one hand on the ground and concentrated on another spell I picked up.
Kazuto: Dark Execution!
A line of magical spears suddenly rose from the ground as they immediately impaled their target, unfortunately it didn't last as a sudden surge of magic coming from him allowed him to break them in a single hit. He then started attacking me as I did my best to avoid him. After using my arms to block a punch from him he then backed away as Moka came in and rushed him with a flurry of strikes and kicks.
Inner Moka: Don't forget about us you bastard!
As he held her off a surge of electricity shot through his body as he then noticed something wrapping around his right leg.
Kurumu: We won't let you win, not as long as we draw breath!
Using his strength he was able to throw Kurumu towards us as he untangled himself from her whip, thankfully she managed to correct herself before she could hit the ground. Before he could try anything else a large magic circle appeared above him courtesy of Rubi using her wands Crystal Snow form and Mizore using her ice abilities to help keep him in place by freezing his feet while he was distracted.
Mizore: Now Rubi!
Rubi: Here we go, Avalanche!
A torrent of ice and snow crashed down with so much force that the ground shook for a minute before calming down. We all regrouped together along with the Kijin in the hopes it was finally over.
Shion: Is it over?
Inner Moka: Somehow I highly doubt that.
Hakurou: Indeed, the Orc Disaster is a formidable opponent. Something like that might not be enough to put him down permanently.
Rubi: So what do we do now, we can't keep fighting like this forever.
I know everyone here was more than willing to keep fighting to the bitter end if necessary, but eventually we'll get tired and once we do it's all over for us. Soon the ground shook once again as the ice and snow that piled over seemed to instantly evaporate as the Orc Disaster roared in anger thus raising the moral of his troops who had been watching the battle this whole time.
Kazuto: I guess it's up to me then.
Before anyone else could stop me I rushed in and fought him fist to fist. At first it seemed things were going well as we were both pretty even until he got me with a combination of hits to my gut and my head before grabbing me by the throat and lifting me closer to him.
Geld: Heh heh heh, I think you will be rather tasty!
My eyes then glowed bright orange as a large magic circle appeared beneath him before a vortex of intense red flames surrounded him. All that could be heard from that point out was him screaming in pain.
Kazuto: ( Flare Circle. It's over! )
Great Sage: Operation complete.
Kazuto: ( Looks like that went according to plan. However... )
The screams of pain then turned into laughter once the fire died out, he was completely unharmed.
Great Sage: An emergency has arisen.
Kazuto: ( Just my luck, the dude's got fire resistance. Not to say I didn't see that coming. )
This was bad, not only was this guy able to heal from pretty much everything we threw at him but he and his army had us completely outnumbered. So far the only thing that seemed to do the trick was Black Flames, but with my magic and stamina starting to run low I may not have the strength to make more. Not only that but he was aware of a dangerous move like that so he would be more wary of it in the future.
Kazuto: ( There's got to be something I can do. Think Kazuto, what can you do that can give you the edge in this battle? )
There was one thing, the only question was would it be enough. This guy can heal almost as fast as I do, not to mention that ability from before to rot things might prove troublesome. Still though, what did I have to lose? It was a gamble that's for sure, but it was gamble worth taking!
Geld: Once I devour you my power will go unrivaled. Now let me consume you!
I could feel him using rot to melt me away, what was weird was that it actually started to sting. I didn't have any time to waste, it was now or never.
Kazuto: I'd be terrible for your diet. I think I'll eat you instead.
Geld: What?
Kazuto: I'll tell you a secret, one that I told an old enemy of mine a while back.
I looked at him dead in the eyes all while smirking at him.
Kazuto: You see, I'm a slime!
I knew what needed to be done, I had to use Predator to completely devour him. Whether or not my healing skills will overpower his own I had no idea. Even so there was no turning back as I started enveloping his body as I got to work. As I did I could feel him using his corrosive abilities to try and remove me but I kept spreading. We kept at it as both of us tried to outdo the other all while trying to repair any damage done to us. It was going well at first until there was a sudden change in the Orc Disaster's magic signature.
Great Sage: Warning, sudden increase in magical power detected. Analysis confirms of an outside influence similar to the effects of the black gem incident.
As I ate away at him I then saw a familiar looking black gem embedded in the back of his head, it looked like it was infused with his bones as his rotting abilities grew stronger. Not only was it eating away at me more rapidly but it actually began to hurt.
Kazuto: ( What the heck's going on! This actually hurts! )
Everyone could see my slime body beginning to slow down, in fact the effects of the rot began to take over as I felt my body being burned alive as my slime grew darker like I was being taken over.
Benimaru: Kazuto! Get out of there!
Rubi: You don't have to keep going! We can still pull back and try again!
I wanted to follow their words, the problem was that I was trapped. The Orc Disaster had me exactly where he wanted me. If I gave up now I would surely be eaten alive, but if I didn't I had no idea how much longer I could keep this up before I inevitably lost.
Kazuto: ( This is bad, I don't know how much longer I can keep this going. I have to find a way to beat him. Think Kazuto, think! )
I then saw the gem shining, the headmaster did say that it was capable of strengthening a monsters power.
Kazuto: ( No, I can't! If I do I might end up losing myself to it like Keito. There has to be another way! )
I was running out of time, the pain was becoming unbearable and I had no other options left.
Kazuto: ( Great Sage, if I lose myself to the gems influence please take over my body and end me if you have to! )
Great Sage: That would be unwise, I cannot allow my master to...
Kazuto: ( Please, I'm asking you not as your master, but as a friend. I don't want to hurt anyone here. I can't do this alone, I need your help. )
Great Sage:... I understand. However I will try and locate the headmaster and look for a solution before it comes to that.
Kazuto: ( Thank you. My friend. )
I focused on the gem as I felt a rush of power flow through me. My slime body reacted to it as it began fighting back against the rot. To everyone watching it looked like two sets of rushing waves were fighting against each other in an attempt to overpower the other. I could feel my mind slowly creep with thoughts of destruction and anger, my Mental Manipulation Resistance did its best to keep it at bay but considering I used the gem willingly it wasn't holding up.
Kazuto: ( I won't lose... no matter... what happens to me... I won't... give in... )
Great Sage: Notice: success rate of Predator has gone up. Ultraspeed Regeneration is now repairing the damage from the effects of Rot faster than it can be applied.
That was good, it looked like my risk was worth it. Suddenly I felt my mind connecting to the Orc Disaster. I could see everything that lead up to this moment. His home village was starving and in return for his assistance he was promised that his people would be given food. What he didn't know was that he would ultimately lose himself and risk the lives of those who followed him all for an empty promise. His friends, even his own son were at risk because all he wanted was to find a way to help them survive.
Geld: He told me that anyone I ate as the Orc Lord would only end up strengthening us as a whole. But in the end I was nothing more than a pawn in his evil scheme.
Kazuto: The power of Starved makes it so those under its influence wouldn't die of hunger. All you wanted to do was save them.
Geld: Indeed, the gem he was in possession of made it so our strength would surpass what our bodies could handle. However it is in fact a copy of one that was stolen some time ago by one of their subordinates. An imperfection that could only imbue us with power only for a moment.
Is he talking about Keito? How did she come to work for people like that?
Kazuto: And right now we're both using it to defeat the other.
Geld: Yes young one. I admire your drive to use the power you have obtained to protect those precious to you. But you must understand why I am doing this. You might be a slime with the power to eat anything, but I cannot allow you to devour me.
Kazuto: The power of the gem has evened the playing field. Your corrosive power no longer harms me like it did before. You're going to lose.
Geld: My people are starving, I cannot afford to lose. We ate other monsters. I ate Lord Gelmud. We even ate our own brethren. If I die here than the sins of my people will be theirs to bear, there's no turning back. I will bear all the sins of this world if it means I can spare them of that fate!
Kazuto: Even so you will still lose, but there's no need for you to dread. I will devour you, sins and all. They will not suffer, you have my word.
Geld: You will devour our sins? Truly? What kind of monster are you, you must be truly greedy if you are capable of such a feat.
Kazuto: Maybe you're right. Maybe I am that greedy.
Within the plane of our minds what was once a white void became a forest lush with greenery, warm sunlight and crystal clear water. The Orc Disaster reverted back to his original form, an orc that would be named Geld. An orc that truly cared for his people and wanted nothing more than to save them and see them smile again.
Geld: ( crying ) How can you be so greedy, to just eat all of our sins like that?
While he did shed tears his heart was finally starting to heal. The nightmare of his rampage would finally be put to an end.
Geld: Thank you, my hunger has finally been sated.
With that his remnants disappeared as they became a part of me. On the outside my slime body had stopped moving for some time. Geld's body had completely dissolved into my being and the gem that had empowered us both had cracked and no longer held any influence over us.
Great Sage: Notice: the Orc Disaster has been completely absorbed.
I reverted back to my human form as the excess slime became a black mist that was absorbed back into my body.
Kazuto: Now you can finally be at peace, Lord Geld.
With the Orc Disaster defeated the effects of Starved had finally let go of the remaining orc survivors. We would later learn that around this time the students back at Yokai Academy who had been under its influence were also returning to normal.
While the orc army came to terms with the loss of their king as well as the reality of what they had done the others and I stood on the cliff overlooking the rising sun.
Kazuto: Now the the battle is over, what will you guys do?
Benimaru: I'm honestly not sure. I suppose we'll have to look for a new place to settle. Until then there's something I'd like to ask you Kazuto.
Kazuto: Sure, what's up?
Benimaru: It is an old ogre tradition, when one finds a person of great strength and character then we can offer them ourselves as their subjects. In other words we wish to call you our master. Whenever there is a battle to be fought we want you to call on us, and we will be there to aid you no matter what.
The kijin all bowed to me as they offered me their undying loyalty. A part of me felt unworthy of the title, especially since they were like family to me and I didn't feel right bossing them around.
Kazuto: Are you guys sure about this?
Hakurou: Of course, I have no doubt that you would be a splendid lord. We shall be your blades in times of trouble.
Souei: No matter what happens we will always be there to aid you. Come hell or high water we will not fail you.
Shion then hugged me from behind while resting her giant boobs on my head.
Shion: And don't forget that I am one of your loving girlfriends! No matter what you're stuck with me sweetie!
Benimaru: We promise to serve you to the best of our abilities, for as long as you'll have us.
Kazuto: O-Okay cool, I'll be counting on you guys.
Kijin: Of course, Lord Kazuto.
Lord? That's going to take some getting used to. Suddenly we heard a rumbling coming from the bushes and saw an unexpected arrival.
Kokoa: Okay where are those miserable swine! I don't care how tough they think they are, no one and I mean no one can outclass a vampire!
As she was brandishing her hammer she saw us next to her and looked over the battlefield to see it was all over.
Kokoa: Huh?! It's over already?!
Kazuto: ( sigh ) Come on everyone. Let's go home.
