The Slime and the School Festival part 2
( flashback- a few days prior )
( location- Fairy Tale hideout )
Akua was in the middle of going to see the three humans that she was asked to assign the mission of infiltrating Yokai Academy and to cause trouble before the rest of Sugou's forces were to initiate their attack. She reached their quarters as she opened the door to see three individuals, two males and one female, sitting on their beds doing nothing but looking incredibly bored.
Shogo: Oh great, it's you. What the hell do you want with us now?
It was obvious to Akua that these humans weren't exactly fans of hers and the feeling was mutual. However she knew that in the end these humans were nothing more than tools to be disposed of when their purpose had been served.
Akua: I come with an important mission for the three of you.
Kirara: Are you saying we can finally leave this place? It's been forever since we could take a break and stretch our legs.
Akua: I said I have a mission for you, this isn't a vacation and you would do well to remember that.
Kyoya: Pay them no mind. So what exactly do you have planned for us?
Akua: You three will be tasked with infiltrating a place known as Yokai Academy, a school specifically dedicated to teaching monsters to live alongside humans.
Kirara: A monster school? Seriously?
Akua: Correct. Once you get inside all you must do is stir up as much trouble as possible. However you will be joined by a fourth, she will have a different mission of her own. All you have to do is be the distraction.
Shogo: That's it?
Akua: Yes. Just cause as much trouble as you can until Sugou's forces arrive to attack.
Akua then leaves the room as she goes to check on the remaining member for this operation. When she does Shogo grabs his bed and throws it at the nearest wall with incredible strength causing it to break on impact.
Shogo: Does that bitch really think she can simply boss us around? It sounds ridiculous, an entire army being mobilized to attack a school of monsters? It feels like a complete waste of time.
Kyoya: Maybe, but then again there's a good chance they could have some pretty strong monsters as students or even faculty.
Shogo: I guess. I still don't see why we have to follow the orders of these people. We don't know anything about them other than they want to eliminate all monsters from the world.
Kirara: That and the fact they recruit humans with suitable abilities to increase their numbers whenever possible. Still I have to wonder who has the money for all the things they have at their disposal.
Kyoya: It's a mystery to be sure, but regardless we need to keep our heads up if we want to survive. Especially since that Sugou guy came aboard a few months back.
Kirara: Ugh, don't remind me about that creep. He tried flirting with me a few weeks ago. I don't care if he really is some kind of king, no way would I lower my standards by going for a creep like him. I almost used my skill on him but that Akua girl stopped me before I told him to drop dead.
Kyoya: And once again I'm reminded of how terrifying that skill of yours is Kirara.
Shogo: No kidding, your skill is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Kirara: I'm flattered you think so. But to be completely honest I think your skill is far scarier Shogo. I mean for one thing it seems like obtaining skills is completely random at most. Isn't it Mr. Berserker.
As the three continued to talk amongst themselves about the upcoming mission Akua was already down in the dungeon where she was about to confront the final member that Gyokuro requested for this task. In one of the cells she spots a lonely girl bound by chains on her ankles. She's sitting in the far corner of her cell hugging her knees all while silently crying to herself. Akua looked at her, she hadn't said a single word since she came and would often only communicate with writing whenever possible.
Akua: San Otonashi, we have task for you.
The girl, whose name is revealed to be San, was surprised to hear her name being spoken by her captor. She lifts her head and carries a bit of a surprised expression on her face.
Akua: Yes, we know who you are as well as what you are, siren.
San was surprised to see that these people were able to discover her identity as a siren. She did her absolute best to avoid drawing any kind of suspicion about her monster identity in the human world so the fact they knew what she was made her deeply concerned.
Akua: We know that you are a former student of Yokai Academy, as such we are in need of your services. If you comply with our request I can personally guarantee that the human who's been you guardian will not be harmed.
San's eyes widen even further when she heard that. Marin Kawamoto, a human woman who has been taking care of her ever since she graduated from Yokai Academy has been nothing but kind to her. She gave her a home, a job and essentially a place where she feels safe and loved. The very thought of something happening to her frightened her more than words could ever describe.
Akua: I see that I have your attention. Yes, she's being held captive here in our facility and as long as you behave she won't be harmed. Do we have an understanding?
San didn't know what they wanted her to do, especially if they wanted to harm Yokai Academy. Still, she didn't want any kind of possible harm coming to Marin. She slowly nodded her head and prayed to whoever was listening that she would be forgiven for whatever terrible thing might happen soon.
( present day- several minutes before Kazuto is transported away. )
It took a few days but soon everything was in place. San was introduced to the others she would be working with for this assignment and they weren't too happy with the idea of working with an actual monster despite the fact she looked completely human. They were given spare Yōkai Academy uniforms so they could blend in with the other students easily. They had a spell cast on them that would keep them out of sight from the headmaster as not to arouse suspicion as they soon made their way through the halls of the school.
San was a little surprised to see that the whole school was preparing for a school festival as she and the others saw students running around with various items like planks of wood, cans of paint, several tools and other materials as they each prepared various attractions for the festivities.
Shogo: Look at these freaks, they seriously think holding a school festival makes them any less of a monster?
Kyoya: It doesn't seem all that bad if you ask me. What's wrong with school festivals anyway?
Shogo: They're a waste of everyone's damn time is the problem.
They passed by a group of students who were working on a large mural and when one of them asked Shogo to hand over a can a paint for them he simply flipped them off and walked away. San, wanting to avoid any kind of confrontation simply handed the student the paint can and bowed in an attempt at an apology before joining the others.
Shogo: What's gotten into you? We're here to do our job, not to make their lives easier.
San pulled out her notepad and began writing what she wanted to say as she showed it to Shogo.
San: "That doesn't mean you should be mean. He was simply asking for a small favor."
Shogo: Not like it matters. All these freaks are going to die anyway. Besides since when did you grow a conscience? Don't forget that you agreed to help Fairy Tale to keep your friend safe. I guess this school doesn't mean as much to you as you let on so stop trying to be all high and mighty with me.
San couldn't respond back, in the end he was right. She knew she basically gave the school up and everyone in it all to keep Marin safe. She held her head down as she continued to guide the three of them to the courtyard. As they continued to walk they passed a large glass display that held framed pictures of some of the various clubs at school. One of which caught her interest as she saw a photo of the current Newspaper Club. She walked towards it as she couldn't believe the club was still going strong, especially considering what happened with the Security Committee during Gin's first year at Yokai Academy. She saw all the new additions to the club but the one person she was looking at specifically in the picture was her old friend Gin. He was smiling as he was surrounded by new friends and she could tell from the picture alone that his smile was genuine. It warmed her heart knowing he wasn't alone.
Kyoya: Do you know these people in the photo?
San: "Only the older student wearing the headband. The others might be new additions to the club."
Kirara: A newspaper club, sounds pretty boring if you ask me. Hey wait, that other boy, the one with the blue streak in his hair, he looks familiar.
Kyoya: Do you know him?
Kirara: No but I think I heard rumors about him in junior high. I think his name was Kazuto Tempest or something like that. I heard from some old classmates at the time that most people would usually stay away from him.
Kyoya: Interesting. Any idea why?
Kirara: All I know was that they didn't legitimately have a reason why. I heard a few old friends tell me they would have asked him out but something about him seemed...off. Like yeah he was an okay guy from what we heard but he didn't seem...
Kyoya: Human?
Kirara: Yeah. Back then we didn't know why but if he's attending this place it all adds up.
Shogo: Doesn't matter, he's still going to meet the same fate as everyone else here when we're done.
Kirara: Yeah I guess so. Although looking at this picture I can't believe he has all those girls around him. What is he some kind of playboy or something?
San looked at the picture and was a bit confused as to why all the girls surrounded me, although she did notice that we were all happy together. She began to feel even worse about what was going to happen since she knew she would be taking away the happiness of not only us but many other students as well. She continued to lead them through the school until she quickly pushed the three of them into a separate hallway.
Shogo: Hey what gives! Don't tell me you're changing your mind about the plan.
San shook her head as she peeked around the corner and saw Gin walking through the halls. Kyoya peeks as well and recognizes him from the photo.
Kyoya: I get it, if he spotted you he would have come over to ask why you're here when you already graduated.
San nodded and wrote on her notepad quickly.
San: "Follow this hallway and take the third right, it will lead you to the courtyard where you can initiate the plan."
Shogo: And what about you? How can we be sure that you won't go straight to the headmaster and warn him about what we're doing here?
San: "I can't. Gyokuro made sure I was given a slave crest to ensure I wouldn't go against her wishes."
Kirara: A slave crest?
San: "Yes. I have no choice but to follow with her plans. Now go, I'll distract Gin. He's a werewolf so he might already have my scent."
Kyoya: Alright then. We'll meet up in the forest when everything is set in motion.
Shogo: Either that or you'll die with the others, not that I care what happens to you.
With that the three of them leave as per her instructions as she tried to act as casual as possible as she stepped out of the hall to confront Gin. When agin heard her footsteps he turned to her direction and was surprised to see his old upperclassmen back in school.
Gin: San, is that really you? I thought I was going nuts when I caught your scent but it's really you. How have you been?
He seemed really happy to see his old upperclassmen again. She did her best to smile and act like nothing was wrong, which proves difficult considering how much Gin values her friendship and she knew she would quickly break his heart.
Gin: I can't believe you came back to Yokai, and you didn't even send me a letter to let me know in advance. Did you miss me that much senpai?
San: "You know you don't have to call me senpai anymore. I'm already a graduate so it's not necessary."
Gin: Maybe so but I can't help it. It's because of you that you saved me. I used to get into tons of fights with any student who pissed me off but you voluntarily became my sparring partner. You would always fight me whenever I got mad and would constantly knock me on my ass.
San: "I guess so. Although I couldn't do anything to stop your perverted antics. It's my one regret in life."
Gin: Ouch. You still don't sugarcoat things do you senpai?
San: "Gin I told you that you don't have to call me senpai."
Gin: I know I don't have to, but I want to. You did a lot for me and that's something I will forever be grateful for.
San was both honored and guilty for receiving such praise from Gin. She would normally be happy that he thought of her so highly and yet she knew she wasn't here for something as innocent as visiting an old friend.
Gin: Hey, since you're here why don't I show you around the school. Things have changed since you graduated and I might be able to introduce you to my new club mates.
Before she could respond he grabbed her hand and began walking her through the school. During the whole experience she saw all of her old classmates going about their day of preparing for the festival with a sense of peace and freedom that wasn't there when she was here last.
San: "I'm surprised the school is holding a festival this year. Won't the Security Committee try and shut it down like before?"
Gin: Oh those thugs, I wouldn't worry about them. Last year they got their asses handed to them by my new club mates, especially that jerk Kuyo.
San: "What?! Kuyo was beaten? But he's an S-class monster, who could be strong enough to beat him?"
Gin: You probably won't believe me but he was beaten by a slime.
San's face gave away how ridiculous that sounded, an S-class monster, one whose kind was treated as a god no less in ancient times was beaten by the weakest of all monster species. Gin then went on to explain the details of the incident to her and as crazy as it sounded she ultimately believed him. She knew Gin wouldn't make up stuff like this especially if it involved the Security Committee so she listened to every word he said.
San: "That's an amazing story. I can't believe there's a slime monster who's that powerful. He's probably the only S-class slime in existence."
Now she was beginning to worry, if what Gin told her was true then I would be a massive problem for her if I happened to catch wind of what was happening.
Gin: He probably is, but he's not arrogant about his strength. If anything he's pretty humble about it. He never shows off and he only brings out his power when he needs it. In fact he's got some subordinates of his own too.
San: "Subordinates?"
Gin: Yeah. Some stuff happened outside of the academy and now he has various other monsters calling him Lord Kazuto. It's kind of funny when he gets called that because he gets these weird looks from the other students and he gets embarrassed easily.
San wasn't expecting me to have my own subordinates, now she really hoped that the plan went off without a hitch. Despite her nerves about whether or not this plan would work she knew one thing for certain. No matter what happened, she would keep Gin safe. If only one person could be spared she would hope it was her only friend from school.
Meanwhile the others had made it to the courtyard as they saw lots of students hanging around doing what you would normally expect them to do. They were either studying, having lunch or simply hanging out with friends and enjoying their day.
Shogo: Alright then, how should we get started? Should I just start beating some of these freaks to a pulp or what?
Kyoya: That might be a bit much. If anything we don't want to draw too much attention too soon. Remember that we need to keep as many of them together long enough for the others to cast the barriers over the area. Not only that but Akua said she needed time to prepare a transportation spell to abduct someone from within the school.
Shogo: Are you kidding me? We still can't do anything until then?
Kyoya: It is what it is, no use complaining about it. For now all we can do is blend in and not draw attention to ourselves.
At this point the two of them notice Kirara walking away as she headed outside the school grounds. They followed after her and soon found themselves in the shopping district of Preternatural Street.
Kirara: No way! These freaks get access to all of this and we're stuck in a stupid base with no access to the outside world!
Shogo: What are you complaining about now?
Kirara: Open your eyes! These people get access to all these shops and we get nothing! This really pisses me off!
Shogo: Will you shut your trap? Why does this matter to you?
Kirara: It matters plenty! We've been stuck in that stupid base for months with no access to the outside world and for what? Meanwhile these freaks get to go shopping and live their lives like it's no big deal!
Kyoya: Look I get your upset but you should calm down. Still I do agree it's a bit unfair we haven't been allowed to have any kind of luxury while we got recruited for Fairy Tale. We can't even access the internet since all signals are blocked.
Kirara: Exactly! Why should these monsters have it good when we deserve it more!
Kyoya: Well I suppose you should put that anger to good use and make some trouble. I think the shopping district is as good a place as any to get to work.
Kirara had an almost sick smile as she got to work. She walked through the shopping district not doing anything to attract any attention to herself until she found her target. A seemingly normal looking first year student just looking at the many shops and simply minding his own business. Kirara walked past him and just as they had their backs to each other that's when she let her plan come into play.
Kirara: Creep!
Male Student: Huh?!
Kirara: Don't huh me! You totally just grabbed my ass just now!
Male Student: What? No I didn't!
Kirara: Don't lie to me I totally felt your hand grabbing me just now admit it you pervert!
Her outburst had caused lots of the other students in the area to gather as they checked out what was happening. Some of them even began to talk amongst themselves saying that the student should just admit what he did already which was making him more nervous than he already was.
Male Student: But I didn't touch you I swear!
Kirara: Oh so now you're calling me a liar too!
Kirara got up in his face and when she pressed her body enough to make the slightest bit of physical contact she threw herself back as she fell to the ground and acted as if she was hurt.
Kirara: Hey why did you push me! That really hurt you jerk!
Male Student: No, I didn't push you!
Kirara: Liar! Everyone saw you just now!
This was the power of her skill, Bewilder. Essentially it was the same as a succubus using Love Charm in that it manipulates the brainwaves of those under its power allowing the user to make others believe whatever they want or do as they command, however unlike Love Charm this skill needed vocal commands in order for its effects to work. Right now all the students that gathered to see the incident were becoming more accepting of the fact that Kirara was the victim in all of this as they began to grow a little more hostile towards the innocent student as they were now shouting for him to admit his "crime" and even began hurling insults at the poor guy.
At this point both Shogo and Kyoya came over to "help" her as they gave her a hand. So far it seemed like the plan was going smoothly, once they finished making trouble here they would continue to spread more lies with Kirara's skill and start having the students fight amongst themselves.
Kurumu: Hey, what the heck is going on here?
Kurumu came up from the crowd to investigate the situation. She was here to do some shopping of her own when she caught wind of what was happening and decided to see what all the commotion was about.
Kurumu: What seems to be the problem?
Random Student: That first year punk totally grabbed that chick's ass and isn't man enough to admit it!
Random Student 2: Yeah! I bet he does that to every girl he passes by too!
Male Student: No! I didn't do anything I swear!
Kurumu looked around at both the accused student and Kirara who was standing in between Kyoya and Shogo, for some reason they gave Kurumu a bad vibe.
Kurumu: I see.
She then walked to the student as he made him bow apologetically as she did the same.
Kurumu: Please find it in your heart to forgive him. As a second year student I will make sure that he properly learns his lesson.
Male Student: But I didn't-...
Kurumu: ( whispering ) I know, just go along with it for the time being.
The student couldn't believe that someone actually believed him.
Male Student: Wait...you don't think I did it?
Kurumu: Of course not. I like to think I'm good at reading people and you don't seem like the type to do that to a girl unless she was your girlfriend.
The first year began to have tears in his eyes as he hugged Kurumu in happiness.
Male Student: Thank you for believing in me Senpai!
Kurumu: It's fine, just try to be more careful next time okay?
Kirara: Wait, are you actually saying you believe that creep over me?!
Kurumu: Well yeah.
Kirara: How dare you, you weren't even here when it happened so how can you believe some stupid monster over me!
Kurumu stepped up and looked at Kirara, she could feel some kind of power coming from her that felt similar to her ability to charm people so she knew how to properly defend herself against its power. She needed to settle this matter calmly and without resorting to violence if necessary.
Kurumu: You're right, I wasn't here to see the so called incident happen. But I don't think what you claim to happen actually happened.
Kirara: So you are calling me a liar!
Kurumu: Obviously. You remind me of how I used to be, thinking that your words have the power to make anyone believe what you want or do whatever you want, but I'm here to tell you it won't work in the long run. Not only that but you keep acting out at the slightest provocation which shows me that you're simply trying to get your way.
At this Kirara was stunned, not only for someone talking back to her but also someone who, for the first time, seemed immune to her skill. Kurumu then looked to the crowd and addressed them.
Kurumu: Listen. Did any of you actually see this student touch her inappropriately before she said anything?
They all seemed to be confused about her question since it seems rather obvious that he did. However they thought about it more and it began to make less sense why they were so ready to believe Kirara's claim as facts.
Kyoya: ( This is unexpected. Unlike with Kirara I can't feel her using any power to influence anyone here. She's legitimately using her words alone to try and calm everyone down and handle the situation maturely. )
While the students began to wonder what was really going on Kirara had enough of someone making her look bad in front of everyone.
Kirara: You...stupid...worthless...bitch!
She looked at Kurumu in anger as she didn't care about any possible consequences for what she was about to do. She pointed a finger at Kurumu and decided it was time to use her skill to the fullest.
Kirara: Why don't all of you shut up and...
Shogo: Oh great.
Kyoya: Yeah, she's pissed.
Kirara: Drop! Dead!
With that her skill carries out through all of Preternatural Street as she explicitly commanded everyone within earshot to drop dead quite literally.
Kirara: ( This is what you disgusting monsters deserve. I don't care if I get in trouble for this later, no one makes a fool out of me and lives to regret it. )
However everyone remained still as they had no idea of what was going on. It soon became clear that Kirara's skill wasn't working on them. Kurumu had her mental defenses up so she could immediately protect herself from the mental attack and luckily for her everyone else seemed to be unaffected as well.
Kurumu: Hey, that was really dangerous! You realize that kind of mental attack would have killed everyone here right!
Shuna: Agreed. That's why I took precautions when I sensed the initial fluctuation of magicules.
Shuna then made her way towards Kurumu along with Shion. The crowd made way for them as Kirara and the others were wondering what was going on. Once Shuna was standing next to Kurumu she addressed Kirara and judging from her expression she wasn't pleased to see someone using their ability to actively try and kill a large group of people without so much as a single thought about the consequences.
Shuna: That's quite a powerful skill you have. Turning your voice into a powerful force that messes with the brainwaves of the target. A truly dreadful ability, so I'm sure you see why the use of strong powers such as those are prohibited on school grounds?
Shion: As assistant to the headmaster of Yokai Academy I would like for you to come with me to receive the appropriate punishment.
Kirara: ( Impossible! Did that girl really block out my power? No one's been able to do that before. And that blue haired girl, was she immune to my power to begin with? Is that why she was able to talk back to me? )
Kirara fell to her knees, she thought that no one in the world could be immune to her ability to believe or do whatever she wants. She was forbidden from using them back at Fairy Tale since she knew there were strong people there who could kill her before she ever got the chance to use her powers, yet here and now she realized that for all her power it was utterly meaningless. That's when Shogo and Kyoya stood in front of her.
Shogo: Is that so? Well if that's what you want then you're going to have to make us.
Shogo then looked at Shuna as he licked his lips with a sickening grin on his face.
Shogo: ( Let's see how this girl likes it when I make her my slave. I'll be sure to torture her until she begs for forgiveness. )
Shion: Disgusting. Your filthy thoughts are written all over your face. I wasn't planning on using violence if you simply cooperated but it appears that won't happen.
She then grabbed the handle of her sword as her anger slowly began to rise. Shogo meanwhile seemed rather amused at the fact he was going to get some action at last.
Shogo: Sounds like fun! I'm gonna mop the floor with you sweetheart!
All the other students ran away knowing this was going to get ugly really fast. Shion took her sword and planted it firmly into the ground.
Shion: So be it, if nothing else perhaps a good beating will knock some sense into you. Let's go, I don't have all day.
( Timeskip brought to you by chibi Inner Moka watching the full moon. )
The tension at the moment was so tough that you could practically cut it with a knife. Once the majority of the other students had made it to safety both Shion and Shogo began trading blows, what caught Shion by surprise was the fact Shogo was able to block her strikes without so much as flinching. Her fist was blocked by his arm and yet he stood his ground before retaliating with several punches himself.
Kyoya: Well now, I guess it's safe for me to join the party too. This seems like the perfect opportunity for me to test out my various abilities.
He unwrapped the cloth he carried on his back as it revealed to be concealing a steel sword as he took his stance.
Kyoya: ( smirk ) And now that there's no oversight I can finally use my skill Severer without limitation.
Kurumu could tell the situation was going to become very dire so she elongated her claws and prepared for battle.
Kurumu: Shuna, get somewhere safe immediately. I have a feeling that things are going to get hectic very soon. Try to find Kazuto and Moka or anyone else for backup.
Shuna: Right. Good luck Kurumu.
Kyoya wasn't about to let Shuna get away that easily, he activated one of his skills known as All Seeing Eye and was about to charge at Shuna with his blade before being intercepted by Kurumu as she used her claws to block his attack.
Kurumu: Hey, don't forget that I'm your opponent right now.
Kyoya: I see, so you really are that eager to die. Very well then, but let me give you a warning. With the power I possess not even that stuck up Akua was a chance against me!
The battle raged as both sets of combatants fought with all their might. Shion did her best to hold back Shogo who proved to be a very strong opponent given the fact he took all of Shion's attacks without a problem and continued to fight on. Kurumu needed to keep up her guard seeing as Kyoya was relentless and wasn't easily fooled by her tactics.
Kurumu: ( Damn it, these guys are no joke. Kazuto. Moka. Please hurry and get here as soon as you can. )
While the battle was taking place on Preternatural Street back at Yokai Academy another plan was almost in motion. San was having a good time getting reacquainted with Gin, in fact it was safe to say that she was feeling right at home having him by her side. However things were about to take a dark turn when in her head she heard the voice of Gyokuro speaking to her.
Gyokuro: ( My my, isn't this a heartwarming sight. )
San: ( Gyokuro? )
Gyokuro: ( Don't tell me you've already forgotten what your mission was. You know what must be done, unless of course that human we have in our grasp means nothing to you. )
San: ( No! Please don't hurt her! )
Gyokuro: ( Then do your job and get ready to prepare the great magic you were instructed to use. The spell was imbued into your slave crest so all you must do is use your powers as a siren to activate it. )
San: ( Great magic? )
Gyokuro: ( Correct. This magic will basically turn all of Yokai Academy into an anti magic area. With this we will be able to cut off any communication that utilizes magic to and from the academy and the surrounding area. Not only that but there's a little surprise as well for the headmaster once the magic is fully activated. You are to get started immediately. )
San knew the time was now, she looked over at Gin as he was taking in the sight of Yokai Academy as they walked the grounds.
San: ( I understand. )
With that their conversation was cut as San asked Gin to take her to the spot where they first met during his first year. He did so and they walked to an old tree just near the back of the school.
Gin: This place really brings back memories doesn't it?
San: "Yes...it does."
San stopped near the tree, her head was down as she stared at the ground. Gin had never seen her like this before and he began to worry about her.
Gin: What's wrong Senpai? Is everything-...
San began to write on her notepad and as she did a few tears fell from her eyes. When she was finished she turned the pad over so he could see what she wrote.
San: "Gin, tell me...what am I to you."
Gin didn't know what she meant at first but he took a breath before responding to her question.
Gin: Honestly, I think of you as someone very important to me. It was because of you that I managed to turn things around for myself. If you hadn't done that I probably would have ended up as bad as some of the people here who needed to be taken down a few pegs.
San: "What would you do if I was in trouble? Would you come to help me?"
Gin: What kind of question is that? Of course I would, San...you mean so much to me that if anything were to happen to you I would never forgive myself.
San began to cry more as she knew he was being genuine, which only hurt her more as she knew what she was going to do. She dropped her notepad and looked at him directly as she spoke to him for the first time ever.
San: Gin...could you ever hate me?
Gin was in shock, this was the first time he heard San speak to him directly. Unfortunately he couldn't dwell on it for long as he soon found himself being flung back by a powerful force seemingly from nowhere. When he got back up he could see San crying as she sprouted a pair of large white wings from her back making her look like an angel.
Gin: S-San...was that you?
San: I'm sorry, I truly am. But I'm afraid that it has to be this way.
Gin could feel her power beginning to rise as her monster energy began to surround her body in an aura of power. Her chest began to glow with a strange purple light that contrasts with her otherwise white magical energy.
San: Gin...you were my only friend here back when I was a student. You were brash, annoying, a total pervert...but you were also kind and generous and...I couldn't help but love you.
Gin got up and tried to walk to her only for her to use her voice to push him back again.
Gin: San...are you... a siren?
She nodded, she knew from the moment she saw Gin again she would have to break his heart and that time was now. Just then they could see a dust cloud rising in the distance as they felt the resulting shockwave coming from the distance.
Gin: What was that? Did that come from Preternatural Street?
It suddenly all came together, why San was acting like this and why she seemed a little bit off today.
Gin: San...don't tell me...
He looked at her and the pain in his eyes were evident. It hurt San even more knowing the truth was finally out.
San: I'm sorry, but the word of Fairy Tale is absolute.
Gin tried going to her again as San tried to push him back with her power, however he managed to hold himself in place as he braced himself this time.
Gin: San...please stop! I won't let you go down this path! Fairy Tale has done nothing but try to hurt innocent people! Why are you helping them!
San: You don't understand-...
Gin: Then help me understand! If they're planning on hurting you or someone close to you then let me help you!
San used more of her power to try and push him back but he stubbornly held his ground. He partially transformed into his werewolf form by changing his arms and legs so he could be a little stronger and resist her attacks. San knew she could easily send him flying away with her full power, but she couldn't bring herself to harm the only man she ever loved.
San: Gin...
She smiled at him as she kept witnessing him do his best to push through every one of her attacks. No matter how many she threw at him, even if he was constantly taking damage he still wouldn't give up on her. She closed her eyes as she focused her power through her crest which surrounded her in a massive pillar of purple magical energy that went high into sky before expanding into a massive barrier around the academy and the surrounding area. When the barrier began to form a single stream of magic was shot from the barrier as it formed a series of magical chains that seemed to have blocked the academy in a separate barrier.
Gin: San...what are you doing?!
At the same time this first barrier was being set up a second barrier much larger than the first was being formed outside it as all of Yokai Academy was now trapped.
( Moka's pov )
I didn't know what was going on. One moment I was hugging Kazuto and the next he suddenly disappeared. I looked around for him only to see a massive magical barrier form around the school as well as a second barrier beginning to form over it. I then noticed the gem of my rosary beginning to glow once again as my inner self began to speak with me.
Inner Moka: This is bad, Moka you have to listen to me very carefully. You need to find a place to hide right now. I can't explain it but something feels very wrong.
Moka: Wait what are you talking about-...
Inner Moka: This isn't the time to argue! Listen, things are about to get very dangerous and without Kazuto we can't remove the rosary to release me. I hate to say it but right now you're very vulnerable should things get violent. That's why you should prioritize getting yourself somewhere safe.
Moka: But what about our friends? We can't just leave them on their own!
Inner Moka: I'm sure they'll be fine. They've had training with the others so they can hold their own for the time being. For now get to safety, I suggest heading to the headmaster's office. Maybe he has something that can help us release my power, if not at least you'll be safe with him.
I hated the idea of leaving my friends to fend for themselves, but I knew my inner self was right. Still, I couldn't just let my friends fight on their own so rather then run to the headmaster's office I began to look for the others no matter how much my inner self protested.
Moka: I'm not leaving any of them behind. If there's something I can do to help them, even if only a little then I'll stand beside them until the very end!
As I kept running I suddenly began to feel incredibly weak. I stumbled forward as I fell to my knees. It got difficult to breathe as I had a very hard time even standing up.
Moka: What's wrong with my body? I feel...so heavy all of a sudden.
Inner Moka: Moka...what's wrong? Why do I feel so weak? What's happening out there?
I didn't know what was happening. I looked around me to see the other students falling over as they began to feel weaker as well. I then thought back to what I saw in the sky earlier. I struggled to lift up my head and saw the two barriers above us.
Moka: Barriers...
That was the only thing that made sense. Whatever these barriers were for it was responsible for making us weaker. Suddenly we hear the sound of something approaching us in the courtyard. It was difficult to make out at first what it was exactly until they got closer. It was a stampede of horses being ridden by people wearing armor.
Fairy Tale Soldier: We are the knights of the human organization known as Fairy Tale! Your reign over this world has come to an end!
We saw them pull out various weapons like swords and spears as they kept making their way towards us. We all did our best to try and run, some even tried to transform into their monster forms but found themselves unable to as the humans got closer.
Male Student: Everyone get away fr-...
He couldn't even finish his warning before he was impaled by a spear. We couldn't believe that he was killed in cold blood. Some of us screamed in horror, others tried to run while the rest were frozen in fear.
Fairy Tale Soldier: Make sure none of them survive! This is the will of both Fairy Tale as well as our great and noble king!
We all did our best to get away, unfortunately many of us weren't fast enough as one by one we were cut down. I ended up tripping over and fell as a woman in armor wielding a two handed sword approached me.
Fairy Tale Soldier: Disgusting creature. You think looking human is enough to make you see yourself as one of us? You're a stain on our world. One that I will enjoy purging with my own hands!
I was so scared, I couldn't move and I was so sure this was it for me. Even as my inner self cried out for me to move I felt my body stiffen from fear. She lifted her sword above her head and as she swung down I closed my eyes waiting for it to end.
Kokoa: Stay away from my big sister!!
I then hear the sound of metal hitting metal as I carefully open my eyes to see Kokoa defending me by using her giant hammer. She looked like she was struggling to hold herself up, yet she stood defiantly to try and protect me.
Moka: Kokoa...
Kokoa: ( struggling ) What the hell are you waiting for...get going!
Moka: No! I can't leave you behind!
Kokoa: Are you stupid? Right now you're a liability, you're in more danger being out in the open! Just get out of here now!
Kokoa and the woman who was about to kill me began to fight. Normally Kokoa would have no issues fighting against an ordinary human but of these barriers were the reason why we suddenly got weaker than her chances of survival were already at its lowest. I wanted to stay and help her fight but I knew she was telling the truth in that I would only cause unnecessary trouble for her. I did my best to get up as I tried running away.
Fairy Tale Soldier: Don't let her escape!
Fairy Tale Soldier: Kill her on sight!
Even though my body felt extremely weak I did my best to run. More of our classmates tried to run or help one another only to be cut down one after the next.
Moka: ( Kazuto, please help us! I don't know where you are but please...we need-... )
I suddenly felt an excruciating amount of pain in my left leg as I fell down. I looked at it and saw I was stabbed by a spear near my upper thigh and it began to bleed. Kokoa was surrounded by more enemy soldiers as they all had their weapons pointed at her.
Moka: Leave my sister alone! She hasn't done anything!
Fairy Tale Soldier: Of course she has, you all are guilty of the greatest crime in human history. Your mere existence is a stain on us all and we are the chosen under the grace of heaven and our benevolent king who will purge this world of your kind for eternity!
I tried to get up only for one of the knights to step on my thigh where I was injured as I screamed out in pain.
Female Fairy Tale Soldier: Disgusting creature. Let's be done with this and move on to the next one.
She then raised her sword into the air and was about to bring it down on me, but instead she got a sickening smile and lowered her speed to her side.
Female Fairy Tail Soldier: On second thought, why don't we have some fun with her first. Bring over the other one.
A few of the soldiers dragged Kokoa over to us as she struggled against them. She tried to break free of their grasp but she was too weak to be able to do so.
Kokoa: Let me go! I said let go of me!
Moka: Leave my sister alone! Please don't hurt her!
I didn't see Ko in her grasp and I saw he was being held down by another soldier. He was heavily injured and he couldn't fly away.
Ko: I'm sorry...I couldn't protect mistress Kokoa whee...
The two soldiers pushed Kokoa down into the ground and held their spears at her throat.
Female Fairy Tale Soldier: Go on, beg for your life.
Kokoa: Like hell I will beg to someone like-...
She was then splashed with water as she screamed in pain. Her whole body was coursing with electricity as it began reacting violently against her.
Moka: Kokoa!!!!
Her screams were torture. It broke my heart to see my little sister in so much pain and I couldn't stop it. The soldiers had a look of satisfaction as they enjoyed torturing her.
Fairy Tale Soldier: Wanna beg for forgiveness now?
Kokoa: Screw...you...as-...AAAUUGHHHHH!!!!!
Moka: Stop it!!!
They just kept splashing her over and over again while laughing at her pain. I was then picked up by my hair as one of the knights held a sword at my chest.
Fairy Tale Soldier: Perhaps you wish to take her place vampire?
I looked at Kokoa, she was on the ground convulsing due to the electricity that was still sparking around her. She tried her best to hold back her tears but I knew she was in so much pain right now.
Kokoa: Please...don't...
I didn't care what happened to me. What mattered the most was keeping the people I loved safe. I shed a few tears knowing this might be my end, but if it meant protecting Kokoa...I would gladly give my life for my little sister.
Moka: ( Kokoa, if I don't make it please tell the others I'm sorry. And please watch over Kazuto for me. Tell him... I lov-... )
I didn't get to finish my thoughts as I felt the sword piercing my body. I looked down as a trickle of blood fell from my mouth and spilled onto my rosary. My eyes began to grow lifeless as the world around me grew darker and my hearing began to dull.
Kokoa: MOKA!!!!!
( Inner Moka's pov )
Rage. All I could feel was pure. Unrestrained. Unstoppable. Unending. Rage.
She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve...any of this! She never asked to be born a vampire and yet despite that she did her best to live a normal life with the people she cares about. And worst of all she was finally reunited with the one person she loved more than anything in the world. Now she would never get to see him again. Never speak to him again. Never feel his warmth again. And it was all. Their. FAULT!!!!
The gem in the middle of the rosary holding me back began to glow with a blood red light. Cracks slowly began to form as a pillar of pure monster energy surged within our shared body. Her injury healed more or less as I can feel myself taking over once more...however it was different this time. This time rather than switching control from one person to another it felt...like I was taking over a husk. Like something important was missing.
Inner Moka: I'm sorry...you didn't deserve this. I promise you...I'll make sure they all pay.
The enemy soldiers all backed up as I faced them. My blood red eyes looked towards them with intent to kill. I didn't care if these barriers were weakening me. They would all die by my hands if it was the last thing I did.
Inner Moka: You ruthless...
I slowly stood up as I pulled the weapon out of my chest, my anger rising for what they did to such an innocent soul.
Inner Moka:...heartless...BASTARDS!!!!
I ran forward as I punched the nearest one in the head, even in my weakened state it was enough to blow his head in like a tin can as he dropped dead.
Inner Moka: I don't care how many of you there are. You're all dead!
Even though I acted tough I still wasn't at my full strength, I was having difficulty breathing and the injury to my chest wasn't healed all the way meaning that I was at a huge disadvantage as is. There was a good chance that I wouldn't make it out of this alive, but I would go down swinging if I had to.
Fairy Tale Soldier: So you finally show your true self vampire!
Inner Moka: Yeah, and you really pissed me off.
Female Fairy Tale Soldier: Don't act so tough. You may try to be intimidating but we know our holy barriers are severely weakening your powers. You don't have a chance in hell at defeating us!
Inner Moka: Wanna bet?
I utilized whatever power I could muster and charged ahead. I began fighting back as I knocked them away from Kokoa as she got up.
Kokoa: Thanks sis. Now that you're free we have a chance at beating these worthless humans.
Inner Moka: No, that's not the plan Kokoa.
Kokoa: What are you talking about? Between you and me we can still make an escape.
Inner Moka: I'm afraid that's impossible. Look at the situation we're in. They confirmed those barriers over the academy are the reason we can't fight at full strength. Plus I'm injured and I don't know how much longer I can keep going. Without a sure fire way to escape I'm afraid we have no choice but to admit defeat.
Kokoa: Don't say that! Just help me get to Ko and we can fight our way through!
Inner Moka: Don't be an idiot Kokoa! Even if you get your hands on Ko just take a look into the distance.
She did so as she saw what I noticed earlier. From far out in the distance were pillars of smoke rising into the sky.
Inner Moka: Its coming from Preternatural Street. They've already begun their assault. Right now getting to safety has to be your top priority.
I fought my way through more enemy soldiers as I managed to get Ko back and tossed him toward Kokoa. The soldiers began to surround us as reinforcements arrived.
Inner Moka: Get out of here now Kokoa! You can't let this opportunity slip by!
For the first time in her life Kokoa was frozen in fear. Normally she was fearless in the face of battle because as vampires we were among the strongest in existence. Now, we were brought low and by humans of all creatures. I saw that we were running out of time so with what little strength I had left I ran to her and grabbed her arm, but before anything else I gave her a heartfelt smile.
Inner Moka: You really have changed since you got here Kokoa. Please, continue to grow into an amazing woman. I love you, little sister.
Kokoa: What?
I then threw her into the distance as best as I could as she was sent flying. I could see the look in her eyes that showed me she hated leaving me behind.
Kokoa: Big sister!!!!
Inner Moka: ( Take care of yourself Kokoa. Make sure to live. It's what both I and my other self want for you and our friends. )
I was completely surrounded at this point and I knew I wasn't going to make it out of this alive. I took my fighting stance as I looked at the enemy without fear, yet a single tear fell from my eye.
Inner Moka: ( Kazuto. Thank you for making my other self so happy. Because of you she was able to find love. You also did the same for me. You were able to release me into the world again and you made me fall for you as well. My only regret is that I didn't have much time with you. Goodbye, my beloved Kazuto. Take care of our friends...our precious family. )
They all charged at me at once as I ran to meet them head on. If this was to be my end, then I'll gladly give my life if it meant the others had a chance to live!
