After getting home, Rogue found Dani and gave her a tour of the places she didn't see. She took her to the lab to meet Hank, who she loved upon first seeing. Rogue found out the girl's favorite color was blue.
When they head outside, they walked through the garden before stopping and sitting on the bench. "I met your husband and daughter." Dani said.
"Ah hope they behaved themselves." Rogue said, smiling at her.
"Yeah." Dani said, nodding. "Your husband is, to put it plainly, hot."
Rogue couldn't help but laugh. "Thanks." She said. "He ain't just looks, which is why ah keep him around."
Dani smiled. "I don't think Leila likes me." She said.
"Why do ya say that?" Rogue asked, leaning back on her hands.
Shrugging, Dani let out a sigh. "I don't know. She wasn't very friendly." She said, looking at Rogue. "She hid behind your husband the whole time and then whispered something about me into his ear."
"Hmm. That don't sound like my Leila." Rogue said. "She's curious, so maybe that's part of it. Ah'm sorry if she made ya feel uncomfortable."
"No, no. She didn't. I just hope I didn't make her feel uncomfortable." She said, looking down at the grass under her converse shoes. "I tend to do that."
"Hey now." Rogue said, placing her hand on Dani's back. "We're all on tha same team here. Ah don't wanna see ya mopin' around, ya hear me?"
Dani gave a half smirk. "Yeah." She said, nodding.
"By the way, ah'm gonna be away tomorrow and part of Thursday." Rogue said. "Remy set up a bed and breakfast for our anniversary. If ya need anything, ya can talk ta Jean as well as tha Professor."
"Alright." Dani nodded. "Have fun on your trip."
"Ah'm gonna sleep." Rogue said, making them laugh.
"Are you two going to have more kids?" Dani asked, noticing the change in Rogue. "I'm sorry. That's none of my business."
"Ya fine." Rogue said, smiling warmly. "Unfortunately, we ain't able ta have any more kids."
"Oh, wow. I'm sorry." Dani said.
"It's just somethin' that happens." Rogue said, then smirked. "But hey, at least we can have sex any time and not worry about it, right?"
Dani laughed. "Oh my god." She said, wiping her eyes. "You know, most adults wouldn't treat me the way you do and they definitely wouldn't talk about sex with me, since I'm twelve."
"Ya know how things work and where babies come from. Why not treat ya like an adult?" Rogue asked, winking at her. "Listen, Dani. Ah'm ya friend. Ya can talk about anything with me and it stays between us, alright?"
Dani gave a genuine smile. "Thanks, Anna. I've never had anyone to talk to like this before." She said.
They heard Gambit calling for Leila before they heard a splash. "Dead gummit." Rogue said under her breath. "Gimme a sec, hun. Ah'll be right back."
With that, Rogue flew up into the air and head toward the pool. She saw Leila swimming in her clothes and Gambit on the side trying to get her out. Hovering above the pool, Rogue grabbed Leila and took her over to the side by Gambit.
"Leila Noel, ah heard ya daddy tellin' ya not ta get in that pool." Rogue said, landing in front of her and giving her leg a swat. "Why'd ya go and disobey him like that?"
Leila pouted as she looked down at the concrete. "I wanna swim." She said.
"Can' be swimmin' in yo' clot'es, girl." Gambit said. "Told y' we go change, but since y' ain' listenin', y' can fo'get it."
"I wanna listen!" Leila said, grabbing Gambit's shirt. "Daddy, I'll listen! I promise!"
"Non. Y' done did yo'self in." He said, crossing his arms over his chest.
Leila's bottom lip quivered and then she started to cry. "But I wanna swiiiiim!" She cried, still hanging on to Gambit's shirt.
Reaching down, he picked her up before looking at Rogue. "Somebody need a nap." He said. "I get her changed. Y' go back t' wha'ever y' was doin', chere."
Reaching out and rubbing Leila's back, Rogue blew at kiss at them as they head back inside. "Is everything alright?" Dani asked from behind her.
Turning around, Rogue nodded. "Just a temper tantrum." She said.
"And oh my gosh! You can fly?" Dani asked, her eyes wide.
Rogue smiled. "Yeah." She said. "Surprise."
"I've always wanted to fly." She said as they walked inside the kitchen.
Leila's crying got quieter and quieter as they head upstairs. "It's nice, not gonna lie." Rogue said, opening the fridge and grabbing a bottled water, offering Dani one. "Convenient sometimes."
"Thanks." Dani said, taking the water. "So, how long have you lived here? What do you do?"
Taking a sip of water, she put the cap back on. "Ah've been here about thirteen years or so." She said, leaning against the island bar. "Ah'm a staff member and as of right now, ah'm ya councilor slash mentor."
"But if I wasn't here, what would you do?" Dani asked, taking a sip of her own water.
Rogue shrugged. "Keep tha students in line." She said. "Fill in for tha teachers. Stuff like that. Mostly during tha school year, ah'm just a mom, but since Leila's gonna be starting kindergarten, ah might do somethin' useful."
"And what does your husband do?" Dani asked, leaning against the island bar on her elbows.
"He's tha culinary arts teacher." She said. "Tha culinary hall is tha newest, quote un quote, class room in tha school. C'mon, ah'll show ya. It's a nice place."
Walking into the bedroom, Gambit took Leila into the bathroom and stripped her from her wet clothes as she continued to cry. Heading into her room, he slowly got her dressed in some pajamas before sitting her on the bed.
"I'm not tired!" She cried.
"Y' better lay down or I'ma give y' somet'in' t' cry about." He said, pulling the covers down. "Y' way too cranky. Now y' lay down and take a nap."
Leila sniffed and wiped her eyes. "Will you take a nap with me?" She asked.
"Will y' stop cryin'?" He asked, pulling the covers over her.
"Uh huh." She nodded.
"Bon." he said, kissing her forehead before standing. "I'ma be right back. Gonna go get some water. Y' lie down, now." Nodding her head, she lied down and Gambit left to get that water.
Heading down the stairs, he ran into Craig in the kitchen. "Hear y' slept in a bit." He said with a smile.
Shaking his head, Craig sighed. "Madie jus' wouldn' fall asleep." He said, taking a bite of the cereal he made. "I love her t' pieces, but good god. She can't stay in her room."
Gambit chuckled as he grabbed the water he came down to get. "I know." He said, opening the top and taking a sip. "Leila had her nights. Still do. Sometime, we wake up an' she be right dere b'tween us. Can' really sleep naked anymore."
Craig laughed. "I just wanna sleep!" He said, as Cyclops walked in.
"Hey guys." Scott said with a smile.
"An' how de daddy to be?" Gambit asked.
Scott shrugged. "I guess fine." He said. "Jean's hormones are going wild at the moment, so I'm staying clear."
"Good idea." Craig said.
"Well, I'ma get back and see if Leila's still in bed." Gambit said, givinG them a wave before he head out of the kitchen and upstairs to the bedroom.
When he entered into her room, he found her passed out asleep and smiled. Leaving the door open, he head back downstairs and ran into Jean once he turned off the staircase.
"I hear I need t' stay clear o' you." He joked.
Jean smiled and shook her head. "I'm fine." She said. "I wanted to know when you needed to stock up the pantry in the culinary wing."
Gambit thought. "Hadn' taken a inventory yet. I go do dat now an' get back t' you." He said.
Walking off toward he new wing of the building, he hear talking as he got closer and realized it was Rogue. When he walked into the large room, he saw her standing in the center of the room with Dani.
"Bonjour." He said, with a smile, as he walked closer to them.
"Hey hun. Ah was just showin' Dani ya part of tha school." Rogue said smiling at him.
Crossing his arms over his chest, he looked at Dani. "Y' a cookin' fan?" He asked her.
She shrugged. "Depends." She said, looking up at him and then at Rogue. "I think baking is more my thing."
"So, ya a sweets kinda gal." Rogue said, winking at her.
"Yeah." She said.
Gambit smirked. "Mos' o' de students are, too." He said walking closer to Rogue and putting his arm around her. "Dey seem t' pay attention more when we be makin' somet'in' sweet."
"So, you teach anything?" Dani asked.
"Firs' day, get de students t' write down wha' dey wanna learn t' cook o' bake. Den, I compile all dem and make a class wit' de results. It usually all de same t'ings, so it ain't difficult." He explained, as he looked at Rogue and smiled. "Was hard t' get use t' all de work at first, but I found m' groove."
"Ya dreaded teachin'.' Rogue smirked at him, giving his side a light nudge with her elbow.
"Cause I ain' never done it b'fo'." He said, combing the back of her hair with his fingers before looking at Dani. "Y' wanna take de class? I could squeeze y' in las' period."
"She's only here for tha week, sugah. Observin' us and if she likes what she sees, then she'll stay." Rogue explained.
"Oh." Gambit said, looking back at Dani. "Well, den, neve'mind."
"But if I do stay, I'd love to take your class." Dani said with a smile.
"Good. Den I keep a spot open fo' you, d'accord?" He said, looking at the pantry. "Well, I gotta do inventory."
"Ya need any help, hun?" Rogue asked.
He shook his head. "Nah. Won' take long." He said, pulling Rogue close and kissing the side of her head. "T'anks, t'ough."
"Ah'm assumin' little girl's up stairs sleepin'?" She asked, watching him as he walked over and opened the double doors to the pantry.
"She pro'ly out by now." He said, walking into the pantry and looking at the shelves. "Dere were more t'ings in here." He said to himself as he looked to his right to see several bags of chocolate chips were missing. "Gotta sugar t'eif among us."
"What's that?" Rogue asked as she and DanI came around and looked inside.
Looking back at them, he pointed to his right. "Someone be t'eifin' my supplies." He said, crossing his arms over his chest. "Dey gonna get it."
"How do you know who did it?" Dani asked. "Can you even find out who it is?"
Gambit smirked at her. "Have my ways, petit." He said, looking back at the shelves. "An' de first clue, dey like s'mores."
Rogue smirked. "Well, that narrows it down ta about all tha students hun." She said, causing Dani to crack a smile.
"Âne futé." He smiled at Rogue, then looked at Dani. "Dat mean smart ass."
Dani chuckled as Rogue rolled her eyes. "Sometimes he ain't that observant, but ah like ta make him feel smart." She said, winking at him. "But not all tha time."
"Maybe I cancel de trip, eh?" He asked, smirking at her. "Y' bein' mean."
"That's up ta ya." Rogue said, shifting her weight and placing her hands on her hips. "Just know that ya ain't gettin' laid if ya do."
"Merde." He said, looking over her body. "You callin' de shots now."
Dani rubbed the back of her neck. "Okay, awkward sexual tension going on here." She said, causing them to chuckle.
Gambit laughed. "We jus' teasin' eachot'er, petit. Ain' no reason t' go an' leave."
"Remy?" Someone called from behind them.
They all looked to see Storm. "Ey, Ro." He answered with a smile. "Wha's up, chere?"
She smiled as she walked into the room and over to the pantry doors. "Jean has asked me to accompany you to the store for supplies for your class." She said, smiling at Dani. "I do not believe we have met."
"Don't think we have." Dani said with a smile. "I'm Dani."
"It is nice to meet you, Dani." Storm said. "I am Ororo M-"
"Jus' call her Ro or Stormy." Gambit smiled.
"Only he gets away with calling me those names." Ororo said with a smile.
"Me an' Ro go way back." He winked at Dani as he turned and looked at the shelves in the pantry, taking note of the things he needed. "Practic'lly family."
"Are you a teacher here?" Dani asked.
Storm smiled warmly. "Yes." She said.
"Ro don' teach not'in' as important as me, petit." Gambit said, counting the bags of chocolate he had. "I teach y' t' survive."
Rogue rolled her eyes and looked at Storm. "Don't worry, he'll be outta ya hair for a day and a half startin' tomorrow." She said, seeing her smirk.
"By the way, happy anniversary." Storm said, her smirk turning into a genuine smile.
"Thanks, hun." Rogue said.
"What adventure will the two of you be going on tomorrow?" Storm asked, crossing her arms just under her bust.
"All ah know, it's a bed and breakfast." Rogue answered. "Ain't that right, lover?"
"Oui!" He called from the pantry.
"Ah just don't know where we're goin'." She said.
"No trip to Italy?" Storm asked, teasingly.
Rogue chuckled. "As much as ah enjoy all those wonderful trips, the travelin' is a hassle." She said.
"You've been to Italy?" Dani asked.
"Yep. Italy, France, England and tha islands down south." She said. "He tries ta spoil me on our anniversary, but ah like these simple little get aways."
"Wow, how can you afford all those trips?" Dani asked, looking at Rogue. "You guys don't get paid here, do you?"
Rogue shook her head. "This comes outta Remy's pocket." She said.
"I save up fo' dese trips." He said, coming around from out of the pantry. "Every penny I can scrounge up, goes into de vacation fund."
"Are you ready, my friend?" Storm asked.
"Guess so. Lemme write down what I need." He said, walking over to his desk and writing down several things on a blank sheet of computer paper. "Y' girls wanna go wit' us?"
Rogue shook her head. "If Leila's upstairs sleepin' ah'll hang back and wait until she wakes up." She said, looking at Dani. "Ya can go if ya want."
Dani shook her head. "I'll hang with you." She said, making Rogue smile.
"Looks like it's just y'all." She said, walking up wrapping her arms around Gambit's neck. "Ah'll go pack."
He smiled. "Y' do dat." He said, giving her a quick peck before he and Storm head to the garage.
"So, where are you taking her this time?" Storm asked, as they got into the SUV.
"A bed 'n breakfast just on de coast." He said, starting up the engine.
"That will be lovely." She said, the car pulling out of the garage and heading down the driveway.
"Still wish I could take her somewhere else. Dis was last minute." He said, looking both ways before pulling out on to the street.
"You know Anna does not care where you take her." Storm said with a smile as she looked at him. "She only cares to be with you."
He smiled. "Surprised she still do." He then lightly chuckled, noticing the thunderstorm billowing up in the distance. "Y' t'ink y' can hold dat off until we get dere?"
Storm looked ahead and shook her head. "Of course I can, but I am not going to use my powers for your personal gain." She said, smirking at him.
"Y' did on our weddin' day." He snapped back, smirking himself.
"That was different." She said, turning and looking out the passenger window.
"How dat different?" He asked, looking ahead and stopping at the red light before he looked at her again. "Enlighten me, chere."
"I do not have to explain myself to you." She said, looking ahead.
Narrowing his gaze, he chuckled as he looked ahead, himself. When the light turned, he head into the right lane and turned into the parking lot of the grocery store.
Rogue lightly hummed a tune as she packed the suitcase for the both of them. It was only a one night getaway, so packing too much was just senseless. Rogue smiled. She was excited about the trip and couldn't wait to get away from everything and be alone.
It was hard for them to be alone now with Leila in her phase of wanting to sleep with them all the time. She was afraid of the dark. Something that had just started a few months back. They rigged her room up with several night lights, but she still insisted on sleeping in their bed.
Glancing at the clock when she heard the bedroom door open, she then turned her head and smiled, seeing a groggy Leila rubbing her eye as she walked over and climbed up on the bed.
"Hey, baby." Rogue said with a smile, zipping the suitcase up. "Did ya have a good nap?"
Leila nodded as she lied down and watched. "Where are you going?" She asked.
"Ya daddy and ah are goin' on a short trip, remember?" Rogue asked, walking over to her bag she had taken with her when they picked up Dani. "Ah got somethin' for ya."
Leila sat up and watched as Rogue took out the giraffe plushie. Leila gasped in surprise and held her hands out as Rogue handed it to her.
"Thought ya'd like that." Rogue said, bending over and kissing her forehead before she combed through her hair. "Ro's gonna be staying in here with ya tonight, alrightie?"
"Can Uncle Logan stay here too?" She asked.
Rogue smirked. "This ain't a slumber party." She said, tucking Leila's hair behind her ears. "It's only for a night. We'll be back tomorrow evening."
The bedroom door opened and Gambit walked in, smiling at the two of them. "Well, dere my two beautiful women." He said, walking over and placing his hand on Leila's head. "Wha's dat y' got dere?"
"Mommy got it for me." She said, showing him.
"Well, I like it." He said, looking at the suitcase. "Everyt'in' ready t' go?"
Rogue nodded. "Mm hmm." She answered. "Ready ta go whenever."
"Den let's get outta here." He said, looking down at Leila before he knelt to be eye level. "Y' listen to Tante Ro, now. Don' wanna hear 'bout y' disobeyin', a'right?"
"Yes sir." Leila said, playing with the stuffed giraffe's tuft of hair.
He smiled at her before he kissed her forehead. "Good." He said, standing and cupping her face. "I love you."
"I love you, too." She said, still mesmerized by the plushie.
Grabbing the suitcase, Rogue walked around to where Gambit was standing and placed her hand on his back. "Let's hit tha road." She said with a smile.
"Yes ma'am." He said, holding his hand out for Leila to take. "C'mon. We gonna drop y' off wit' Tante Ro before we leave."
Storm walked with them to the garage so Leila could wave to them as they head out and down the driveway. When they got on to the interstate, Rogue leaned her seat back and closed her eyes.
"Y' gonna go t' sleep on me?" Gambit asked, reaching over and patting her knee.
Opening her eyes, she smiled at him. "Ah'm only nappin' until we get there." She said, winking at him before she closed her eyes again.
"Who I gonna talk to?" He asked. "M'self?"
"Ya do it all tha time." She said, smirking.
"Don' make me turn dis car around." He joked, seeing her open her eyes and look at him.
"Please. Ya wouldn't do it." She said.
"Y' don' t'ink I would?" He asked, putting his hazards on and pulling over.
Sitting up Rogue leaned over and grabbed his right hand that was on the wheel. "Drive tha damn car." She said, smiling playfully.
He chuckled as he got back into the flowing traffic and head toward the coast. It didn't take them but forty-five minutes until they arrived at a cute, two story, Victorian style house that sat on a cliff.
Rogue sat forward and looked it over as they pulled up to it. "My god. This is beautiful." She said, the car stopping and the engine being turned off.
"Wait 'til y' see de inside." Gambit said with a smile as they got out of the car and head toward the front door with their suitcase.
Ringing the bell, it was a bit before the door opened and an older woman smiled up at them. "You must be Remy and Anna." She said.
"Dat's right." He said with a smile as the woman opened the door for them.
"Please, come on in and make yourself at home. I'll show you to your room." She said, closing the door and taking them up to the second floor. "i hear this is your fifth wedding anniversary."
"Yes ma'am." Rogue said as they walked down the hall and came to the room at the end.
"Please, call me Ruthie." She said, opening the door and ushering them in.
"That's quite a view." Rogue said, walking over and looking out the window at the ocean.
"Now," Ruthie said, turning to Gambit and looking up at him. "When ever you two are up and about tomorrow morning, just give me a call with that phone and I'll bring you breakfast."
"Understood." Gambit said, with a nod. "Merci, Ruthie."
"My pleasure." She said. "Have you two eaten dinner?"
"No." Rogue said, turning and looking at Ruthie.
"Well, then I'll head down and start on that." She said with a smile. "You two enjoy yourselves and I'll give you a call when it's done."
"Thank you." Rogue said as Ruthie left their room and closed the door behind her. "She's adorable."
"Well," Gambit said, placing his hands in his pockets. "Got 'bout a hour. Wha' y' wanna do?"
Rogue shrugged before she walked over to the bathroom and turned the light on. "Let's take a bath." She said, smirking back at him. "It's a mighty big tub."
"Den a bat' it is." He said, grabbing the phone and following her into the bathroom where she started up the water.
Rogue looked at all the fragrances and bubble bath soaps. "Good gracious, there's a lot of these." She said, finding a lavender one. "Perfect. This will help us relax."
Pouring a little into the stream of water, the bubbles began to froth up. Placing the bottle back on the rack, Rogue turned around and smiled at Gambit before she walked up to him and hugged him.
"Is it sad that ah find this a little nerve wrackin'?" She asked, looking up at him.
"Why?" He asked, cupping her face.
She shrugged. "Ah don't know." She said, pulling his shirt up and getting it up over his head. "Ah'm just ridiculous."
"Non." He said, leaning in and kissing her softly. "Y' ain' ridiculous. Jus' been a while since we been alone."
"It's been too long." Rogue said, letting him lift her shirt over her head and tossing it to the floor.
Kissing her again, he worked on her bra as she unbuckled his belt and pants. Parting for a moment, Rogue turned the water off and slid out of her jeans before she got into the tub. Stripping from the last of his garments, Gambit climbed in and leaned against her, resting his head on her left shoulder.
"This is perfect." She said, softly, as she kissed his right ear before combing through his hair, seeing a few grays. "Ya got some gray hair."
Gambit smiled. "It be dat li'l girl o' ours." He said.
"It ain't noticeable." She said, kissing the top of his head. "Just a few strands."
"I'm only forty." He said, looking back at her. "Can' be gettin' gray headed now."
"Well, ah find it attractive." She said, kissing his ear again. "Sexy."
"Mm." He said, feeling her lips against his neck. "Den maybe I dye my hair, no?"
Rogue chuckled. "Ya let ya hair do its own thing." She said, running her hands over his chest.
He smiled and placed his hand on her right calf, massaging it lightly. "I been t'inkin'." He said.
"What about?" She asked, hugging him.
"Adoptin'." He said. "Y' t'ink dey let us adopt, bein' mutants an' all?"
Rogue shrugged, knowing he felt that. "Ah don't know. But Charles said he'd help us out." She said, cupping some water in her left hand and letting it dribbled onto his chest.
"But wha' if dat child ain' a mutant?" He asked. "Dey gonna grow up confused why dey don' got any powers."
She hugged him again. "Don't worry about that, sugah." She said, kissing his neck. "They ain't gonna be wonderin' that if we raise 'em with understandin'."
"Yeah." He said, reaching back and patting her hair. "Y' wanna adopt a newborn?"
Rogue smiled. "Ah would love havin' another infant. They're beautiful." She said, dribbling more water on his chest before she added some lavender bubbles.
"Den we adopt a newborn." He said, rubbing her leg.
"But ah don't just want a baby." She said. "Ah wanna experience tha pregnancy. That was one of tha most coolest experiences ah've ever had."
"Mon amour, y' know dat ain' gonna happen. Much as I like it too, jus' ain'." He said, looking back at her. "If y' wanna experience de pregnancy, maybe y' can get artificially inseminated."
"No." She answered quickly. "Ah don't want any other man's sperm inside me."
Gambit laughed. "Dis a interesting conversation, no?" He asked.
Rogue laughed as she kissed his neck. "But it's important." She said, resting her chin on his shoulder. "Ah know ya hate talkin' about this, sugah. Ah'm sorry ah brought it up."
"I brought it up." He said, placing his hand on hers that was against his chest. "I wanna adopt. Le's adopt."
Rogue smiled, giving him another hug. "We'll look into it first thing when we get back." She said as the phone rang, letting them know dinner was ready.
