Chapter LIV: Kill the Appearance of the Nutty Cop
AKAME SAT AT THE TABLE just thinking. She was not outside training, nor hanging out with Tatsumi...or with anyone for that matter. Her elbows rested on the table, her fingers, tapping on that food-stained plate where her meal once stood. She had this feeling mixing in her stomach...churning...bloating. It could just be her being hungry or...it could be something more.
Nervousness.
Amongst the group, she was the most stoic. She hid her emotions very well. Her focus was on the mission and that was it. Nothing more. Not to say she was careless, or like a psychopath or anything. She was none of the sort.
Now cautious? Yes.
Attentive? Yes.
Observant. That was questionable. She was until the Changeling came to her life. At first she treated like any other person, but with extra steps. She, much like Night Raid was cautious.
His Ultimatrix was not listed in the Imperial Arms database...or anything for that matter.
She would look and look. Any creature she saw, she wanted to know more.
Diamondhead, Rath, Upgrade...none of them were in the database. None of them were mentioned.
Maybe there was life beyond the stars, and Ben was just lucky enough to have access to their very essence.
As the door opened, Akame looked up, barely reacting. It was Tatsumi, worried about his friend.
"Akame? Is everything ok?" He asked.
"Ben is from another world," Akame said.
"Yeah, that's not a..."
"No. You don't understand. All the creatures we see him change. All the strategies, the tactics...the technology...the power. It's a whole 'nother level," Akame said.
"You still don't trust him? Do you? After everything..."
"It's not that," Akame said. "Ben saved our lives time and time again...and he saved mine...time and time again. He made..."
Tatsumi squinted; he took one look out at the door and saw Sheele and Ben hanging with one another. He slowly closed the door and locked it.
He took one look at Akame and noticed a few things that was off.
Very off.
Her voice was not even keel like it was.
She was barely outside.
She was showing a little more emotion, a little more color to her step.
"No," Tatsumi said, "You...Jesus..."
"What?" Akame asked.
"Please tell me the truth, and I promise I will keep this..."
"I'm in love with him," Akame broke the ice.
"Yeah that...WHAT?!" Tatsumi screamed, forcing Akame to rush over and cover his mouth.
"Shush!" Akame said firmly.
"How?" Tatsumi asked.
Akame removed her hand, "I don't know. I wish I can explain but..."
"What was it that he did that earned your heart? I mean...that's kind of big," Tatsumi said.
"He was about to sacrifice himself for me on more than one occasion. Everything else was...hidden," Akame said. "He and Sheele are fit for each other. I often wonder if..."
"Um, Sheele likes Ben? Yeah. Like without a doubt yes. But..."
"I don't care if they are together; I want to be with him, even if it means if I were to be his friend. He didn't earn my trust. He earned my love. And for that, I am grateful," Akame smiled. "Thanks for the ear."
"No problem," Tatsumi said. Suddenly, Akame grabbed Tatsumi's arm.
"You're not gonna tell Ben are you?"
"Not a chance. Guy's got enough problems," Tatsumi chuckled. As he left, Akame closed the door and slid behind it. Her mind drifting to that headspace.
She did not say a word, the only thing she did at that moment, she hugged herself tightly, her head nod up as she smiled.

Later that night, the team sat around at a meeting table discussing their next mission. Sheele, Akame, Leone, Tatsumi, Lubboch, and Mine were all together. Ben arrived late, per usual, yawning and what not, pretty curious as to what was going on.
"Mr. Tennyson, just in time," Najenda welcomed.
"Sorry for the lateness. Had to catch some Z's," Ben said.
Before Sheele got a word out, Akame spoke, "You slept well, yes?"
"I did," Ben said, "So, what's going on?"
"Glad you asked," Najenda continued, "We are going to a religious festival in the village. There, we will slip through the crowds and sneak into the palace. Then, we'll go in for the kill," Najenda stabbed the table with the drawing with the priest's face on it for emphasis.
"Serves him right," Tatsumi thought.
"Another mission. I can get on that," Ben said.
"Yeah, as long as you don't cheat!" Leone said.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Is that a whiner I'm hearing?" Ben mocked.
"A whiner? Why I..."
Before Leone could fly over there to wipe Ben's smug smirk off his face, Tatsumi had to hold her back.
"Leone, quiet. Ben, I expect better," Najenda scolded. Ben sighed and Leone gumbled, both couldn't stand each other.
Najenda continued, "This job will send the Revolutionary army into action. Failure is not an option."
Everyone agreed about what they had to do. Ben on the other hand sat on the sidelines, remembering that Paradox telling him to not get involved with their assassinations; however that rule seemed to have to some extend...slightly twisted a little bit.
Even with a slight tap, Akame and Sheele could seek an alternate path forward of seeking justice. But during his stay here in this twisted world, looks like the only brand of justice that was worth anything was blood in and blood out.
Any form of prison time or anything of that nature goes to the wayside for sure.
Without nowhere, Susanoo served everyone dinner: from Mine's sundae to Akame's mountain of meat.
"What the..." Ben said, he was amazed as to how much meat Akame could swallow in one gulp. He always knew that she was a big eater, even he would see her consume a meal that was fit for a queen. But this, this amount was so much so could feed an entire New York City block...TWICE!
This did not escape Sheele's attention. She giggled at Ben's awe at Akame's massive appetite in full display.
"You know, she could consume a whole elephant if she wanted to," Shelle gave Ben a terrifying fun fact.
Ben's head, like a rusted mechainc, looked at Sheele, only for her to hide her laughter.
And when he turned back around, the whole mountain of meat...INCLUDING THE BONES was gone.
Like it was GONE! Like Ben's soul at that moment.
"Jesus," he said to himself.
"Another amazing meal. Thank you, Su," Akame said with some monotone to her voice.
"Yeah, seriously I don't know what we would do without you? You're awesome!" Tatsumi said.
"I'm deeply honored to know that I have pleased you all," he said with grace, then his ire turned to Ben, "But Ben, you didn't eat the last grain of rice. I don;'t think I could stand it!"
"Sure its a shame. This guy would be perfect if he wasn't such a ninny all the time, huh Benjamin!" Leone elbowed Ben in a mocking fashion.
Ben growled; the rest of Night Raid giggled.

It was sun set and the city was heading out for the night. Everyone was parking it getting ready for the evening. Standing on the top of the golden dome were two women, the crazy brunette and a strange slender woman in a white kimono.
"If Night Riad plans to Strike, it would be today," said the lady in white, observant, "But that goes without saying, doesn't it Seryu?" She turned with a smile.
Seryu responded with a serious tone, "Susaka, do not let those demons into the Cathedral okay?"
"Yeah, I know," she said, suddenly something caught her attention. She didn't know what it was, but her eyes zoomed in to see what it could be. Zooming into town spotting three strange characters in a dress, noticing one of them looking awfully suspicious. One of them, she was not familiar.
"That girl got combat experience," Susaka said. "I can tell by those eyes and the way she looks."

Tatsumi, Mine, and Ben all hid behind the walls in a dark alleyway. Finally having the room to breathe to hide from plain sight.
"Damn, didn't take them very long to spot us," Tatsumi said.
"I should have went Big Chill and carried you both to the other side of the Empire," Ben suggested.
"And then what, your watch times out, we fall, and get captured?" Mine said.
"I have to agree with Mine here. Not everything can be solved with one of your monsters. You'll stick out like a sore thumb," Tatsumi added.
Ben didn't have a retort. He just answered with a shrug.
They all looked at each other, nodded, and then retreted.

Later, night fell. The trio arrived at the ruins waiting for their target to strike, waiting for instructions from their boss from Ben's Omnitrix. Thanks to him gifting her and well showing her how the telecommunication badges worked. And since the Empire lacked the very technology Ben possessed made it the perfect tool for all the things they need for their revolution to take hold.
"They won't chase us all the way out here," Mine said.
"Yeah, well we had to get out of the city," Tatsumi added.
"I hope we made a good enough distraction," Ben said.
"To be honest, Big Chill would have been a bad touch in my opinion," Mine said wiping the makeup from her face, "Honestly, Humungasaur would have been better."
"What?" Ben perked.
"Are you crazy?" Tatsumi yelled, "Humungasaur would give away our position and the Empire will surely take advantage of Ben, and kill him!"
"Pfft, like they'd kill him! He's indestructible!"
"Thanks for the applause, but I am allergic to death!" Ben said.
As they argued, the auburn haired girl stood there with cold, furious anger.
"There you are you slippery little imp. Ben Tennyson, the dingleberries that refuse to wash away from my ass! The mole that can't be clipped, a virus that can't be cured! I was confused as to why the Great Officer showered you with affection, but now this is my proof to show her and the nation as a whole how much of a monster you really are!" she said. "This Ben Tennyson has been corrupted by evil...no...he is the incarnation of evil! He IS SATAN'S ROTTING PENIS ON THE VERGE OF FALLING OFF ON A FRYING PAN...WHILE COOKING A GODDAMN OMELETTE!" she continued.
"Korro, phase 9!" Korro jumped on her arm and took a massive bite; out from it was a radar that was glued on said forearm.
"The Justice City Detector!" she named. "There aren't any civilians in the area." She chuckled a dangerous giggle. A malicious one.
"At last, destiny has reunited us once again Night Raid! And you Ben, you will soon meet your end! I am your doom! I am your justice! I AM SERYU UBIQUITOUS! AND I AM HERE TO FUCK YOU!" She announced as a gust of wind brushed up, spinning around her like a light twister. And just before she could finish her soliloquioy an ounce of sanity reared its beautiful head.
"Wait...what did I say? Fuck you? Wait...hm...maybe I gotten a little too far. Nah! HERE THAT TENNYSON! I AM GONNA SKULL FUCK YOU...yeah that's right...SKULL FUCK YOU!"
