Sup guys, this chapter is subject to small changes, I just wanted to get it our before the end of the year and I changed things in it a bunch of times and didn't want to bother my beta-reader (Eq12122 = TheRandomind) by sending him the like 6 updated copies I made lol. Especially with it being the time of year where we're all supposed to try and relax before 2020 kicks our asses!
Laughs filled the room and steam saturated the air as it rose from within the Southside Luthworth Café. The Café was full, many different types of Pokémon ate and drank with their friends and trainers. The Café was open on one side, and connected to a small pond, where the water Pokémon swam and ate.
A few people dressed in aprons walked around, bringing drinks to various tables, along with a few Pokémon who had the coordination to do the same. Harvic sat at one end of the rectangular table. He did not have too much money left but he cast that thought aside. Reaching Luthworth was worth a good meal for everyone.
Joey sat on a padded highchair on one side of Harvic that was made for smaller four-legged Pokémon. He happily ate a mix of various berries and vegetables. Most places in the Xendar region offered foods of various kinds made for both Pokémon, Humans, and a for both. Jeremy happily sat on a high wooden stool, engulfing plates of Pokéfood and berries. Watching him, Harvic could not help but smile, though in his mind he worried about the bill Jeremy would rack up just himself.
Angelica sat on a normal chair, reserved for Humans and human-like Pokémon, though the chair she was in was made for children, as she was only a short Gothorita. She ate some traditional Xendar Wedding soup, and she did so very dignified. The sight was filled with hilarity as the Pignite engulfed the area with his snort-filled frenzy of eating, sitting right next to the most dignified of the group quietly and neatly eating her soup.
Angela sat next to Harvic's other side in a normal-sized adult chair. She ate a helping of sweet berries and various other fruits. One of the few times she didn't mind not holding his arm was when she was eating, as long as she sat next to him it stopped her from feeling insecure.
Harvic took a drink from his cup and felt the carbonation hit him. A type of grape-cranberry mixed drink based from berries. One thing he always found exciting about this new world was the new foods, though much bared a typical resemblance to what he was used to. Looking at his food he happily dug into a plate of pasta and meat.
A hefty Machamp had been serving them, having conversations with his companions. Surprised through having conversation with Angela and learning of their psychic link, he turned to Harvic himself and spoke to him through Angela.
Wait so you can really understand me through her?
Harvic chuckled at his surprise, "Yeah actually! Cool right? These guys are the best!"
That's sweet! What brings you guys out here? You here to battle? The Championship is busy this time of year!
"Nah, much to some of these guy's sadness, we don't battle, we're just finding our way in the world."
Well there's plenty here! I wanted to go into battling myself at one point, but I got attached to this place, and having four arms helps serve better!
Harvic hadn't noticed before but the Machamp was utilizing all four of his hands at once, the table next door signaled for him to refill their drinks, and with one hand holding the platters, another grabbed specific pitchers and poured their contents for the female Human and Froslass Pokémon there. He also gave a quick flex when he did so, causing the Froslass to blush, and Harvic thought he saw a similar reaction in the girl, but wasn't too sure.
"It sure looks like it helps, and you look happy!" Harvic continued their conversation.
Yeah, I guess when you look past the idea that all Machamps hafta' be fighters you can realize we can be anything and still have sick gainz! Heh, just kidding, I was born this way. He topped off the glasses at the table, flexing when he got to Angela's.
Harvic watched her closely and noticed she giggled but did not blush. He stopped himself, wondering why he was so keen to see her reaction in the first place.
Well anyways just give a shout, Name's Dave by the way, but most humans just call me Machamp or waiter!
Just as he was showing off his name badge, another person lounging with their Pokémon in the pond called for him. Causing him to give a quick fist bump with a free hand and speed off to the source of the yell.
They all continued eating their food happily and made sure to clean their plates. Harvic ensured to give a good tip though the bill was taking most of his pocket money. Reading the receipt Harvic turned to Jeremy with wide eyes, "You ate 4 dinners!? Jeremy how is that even possible!?"
Jeremy snorted and rolled in his seat, getting comfortable. Brushing Harvic off and causing Angelica to giggle as she cleaned the area around her. "Well I guess you can't un-eat the food now but damn man." Harvic sighed with a smile as he got up from his seat to pay the bill.
As they walked from the Café, the noise of the city filled their ears once again. A bullet train quickly rushed past on an elevated platform relatively noiseless. Nothing like a typical train.
"We have eaten! Now to find out what the heck we're gonna do here! I've got a few ideas, we can look for some job postings to see what's open 'round town, or we can check around the city center area, won't have to worry about cars there, it's all pedestrian."
They all listened and questioned amongst themselves but ultimately gave little feedback, so he decided for them all to head out towards the city center. Billboards were plenty there, listing jobs items for sale and items for request, and that was his target. He grabbed his backpack and threw it over his shoulder as he produced a small brochure from his pocket.
"If this map is still right, we can take a shortcut through this part of town." He noted aloud, "I know this map is a year old but not too much could have changed, right?"
As they began their way there, Angela latched onto his arm once again, suppressing the worry that she had within. As time passed her feelings grew, and with the feelings came a great confusion and pain. She held onto his arm tighter than usual, squeezing it for reassurance. She noticed a handful of people always gave Harvic and her strange looks when she held his arm, but she always ignored it. Here in the city those stares were absent. People all over walked side-by-side with Pokémon. Some in open affection, others in a mutual friendship.
The concept in the Xendar region of the Pokémon-Human relationship was a source of much debate over the past few decades, denounced by some and praised by others, many "came-out" as Pokémon lovers and the Xendar region became a home for those who would treat Pokémon as they would humans. Harvic hadn't read too much into the history, though he always noticed new pairings of people in Pokémon whenever he visiting different parts of the region, and he grew accustomed to it, though had a very slight strange feeling about it which he couldn't pin down.
Canals were spread out parallel to the roads and businesses, and if you watched carefully you could see the occasional huge water Pokémon travelling through, A Gyarados was heard roaring, and when the group looked to the canal they saw it blazing through the canal, a person seemingly riding it on its back.
Harvic marveled at the sight, "can you believe people do that? I'd fall and break my face doing something like that." He chuckled.
"Well yeah because you have the coordination of lemon." Angela slipped in.
"Hey! At least- Well I mean-" He paused, "Yeah, you're right. I'm surprised I'm even functional at this point"
You need to move with elegance! Angelica exclaimed Watch as I do!
The short Gothorita strutted forward, seemingly gliding against the sidewalk, each step placed very carefully in such a way Harvic couldn't help but smirk, thinking of a runway model or dancer.
"Yeah, yeah, watch these moves!"
Angela let go of his arm as he lurched forward with a dramatic flair, overexaggerating every movement and causing a chorus of laughter to erupt from his peers, even reaching Angelica who had not expected it.
As the group laughed and each of the group imitated more and more goofy walking styles, they hadn't noticed the visible caution signs and road barriers placed nearby that they had passed.
As they walked a noticeable change in atmosphere had occurred, less people walked these streets and papers were stapled to every post. As their laughter died down and silence slowly crept in, Harvic began feeling uneasy for the safety of his friends. The sudden lack of the bustling city environment, and apparent abandonment of the area did not sit well in Harvic's stomach. "Hey, uh guys, maybe we should turn back huh?" The streets had narrowed, and the changed were so subtle, he had not directly noticed until now. The very few people on the streets looked shifty, and the roads lacked any cars at all, as if the roads had been blocked off.
Buildings looked largely abandoned and Harvic wondered how a place like this even existed in such a great city. He wondered if maybe this was a place that was planned to be bulldozed to create some new strip of malls or recreational centers. "Damn map, I should have just grabbed a new one."
Feeling unease, he gave a quick shifty look around before noticing he did in fact hear a car in the street he had previously believed to be abandoned. Turning his head around he noticed a large van that had stopped on the other side of the street. He could have sworn he saw it move from the corner of his eye. Maybe it was coincidence? Angela felt his unease and anxiety and too looked at the van. He could feel her moving psychic energy in the air around her, preparing for the worst perhaps?
Harvic gathered his Pokéballs and quickly returned his friends except for Angela, much to their discontent. He hated always having to put them away, but this seemed necessary.
Just as he was about the begin moving again, the van's lights shot on and it stormed off, making a right turn and speeding into the distance. Harvic stood silently for a moment questioning the strange event before turning his interest to the various flyers posted to the nearby electrical poles. "Keep an eye out Angela" He warned, receiving a nod in return.
They were all missing person and Pokémon posters. But why would they all be posted around here? He noticed that the streets were narrower here, perhaps it was a denser population living here? But then where were all the people? "Angela keep your guard up, I'm not sure how we got to his part of town, but I don't like it. This way should be East, which is where we need to go to get to the center of the city.
He began walking, and with each step he could swear he could hear similar steps emerging from the alleys he would pass. He was not going crazy; Angela could hear them too.
He stopped walking, holding out his hand to Angela to cease her, and he could hear the steps go on for one step too long before stopping. Harvic stooped his head and lowered his voice, "We're being followed."
I hear the footsteps, they're to our left, and I think I saw someone running between buildings, but I can't sense and emotion or thought coming from there.
Harvic squinting, noticing a figure on the opposite end of the intersection, it was a girl, she looked familiar. Hoping it was someone he knew, he called out, "Hey, You! Do you know where city center is?" The figure turned and seemed to stare for a moment before crossing toward them, no cars were nearby, the streets were dead, so they walked through an open green light without hesitation. The person seemed to shamble, dragging one leg as if it were entirely limp.
Are you sure we can trust them? I can't get a read on them. Not to mention they look creepy.
Harvic's brows furrowed, Angela couldn't read their emotions? That's strange.
As the figure approached, she began to become more noticeable, it was Rose from Pentra! And she was wearing sunglasses and in her new silver and red outfit she was wearing last time. She did not look happy as usual but had a strange fake looking smile on her face. "Haaarvic is that you? I've been looking for you since I've heard you arrived." The voice seemed off, like an impression done almost correctly but not quite.
"I know you can't read her emotions right now but I'm getting some strange vibes from her right now." He whispered from the side of his mouth, and he felt her acknowledgement in his thoughts.
Before he knew it, he heard the screeching of tires from the right side of the intersection, that same van had returned and was speeding toward them on the sidewalk. "Angela!"
Got it! She lifted her hands and a psychic barrier had appeared, though she morphed it into a ramp that swiveled left. The Van tried to avoid the now present barrier by veering right but was moving too fast, and instead of hitting or missing the ramp, it clipped it. The Van's metal began screeching against the ground as it's left two wheels were shot off the ground and the entire right body of the van hit and scraped the road, heading right towards Rose. Glass shattered and spread across the ground and the whole mess was painful to the ears.
"Rose, Move!" Harvic instinctively yelled aloud, seeing the van hurtling toward her. Though her could not see her at first, Angela's eyes widened as she stepped in front of Harvic, hands outward and her eyes glowing blue. That's not Rose!
The form that was Rose began to bubble pink and morph as it grew into monstrous size. Harvic gaspsed as he noticed the form took shape of a Steelix. The Van crashed into the new Steelix form just as it was hardening into shape. The Van crunched and emitted a horrible sound as it wrapped around the body of a Steelix.
"What the hell is that thing!? It just transformed!"
It's a Ditto! It can transform into anything or anyone! It's a man-made Pokémon, I can't get any readings on it!
The Ditto paused for a moment in the form of the Steelix before rearing its huge metal head and slamming into the van, crushing it down so it no longer constricted it. Harvic gulped, were there people in there? Did the Ditto just crush them to death?
"Angela, we should get out of here, we're not trained to fight!"
Run! Go! I'll protect you with my life, go!
He was taken aback, and he felt his heart pulsate, "Angela, what?"
I'm a psychic! I can keep him back for as long as I can, you run!
Harvic buried the fear and hearty feelings within himself before stepping forward, standing next to her, "Fuck that! If we stand, we stand together! I'm not leaving you!" Angela felt the same pulsation in her heart and her mind began racing, she felt fuller of energy than ever before.
The Ditto began morphing again, though seemed to be having trouble, it took he shape of Magmar before deforming and taking shape of a Steelix again. It continued this way for a few seconds before forming into a mixture of the two. A metal and fire monstrosity. It was the size of the Steelix before, but fire flared from the creases of it, and the metal seemed to be almost melting from the heat. The mouth was agape and the roar it emitted was guttural and unnatural. The road around it began to bubble as it was heated so intensely and quickly.
Melted metal began to slowly bubble and pour from the creases of its mouth, dripping with a crisp hissing sound upon contact with the ground. From the molten mess grew two huge monstrous arms that resembled that of a Magmar but metallic and flaming, attached to the body of the Steelix, but weighing it down so it couldn't slither.
"Oh God, Oh Fuck, what is that thing!?" Harvic trembled, he had never seen anything like it, and it was terrifying. He could feel the heat from where he stood, and he knew if it got closer, they could be cooked alive.
I don't know!
Clawing forward, it began tearing at the now weakened ground, pulling itself toward them from across the middle of the street. The claws superheated the asphalt, almost liquifying it with each touch of the claw. The eyes of the beast resembled that of a Ditto, making it all the more unnerving.
"A-Angela use uh-Psychic! Use Psychic! Try and send him backwards! Keep it off us!" As he yelled this, he could hear a helicopter overhead, it looked like a police helicopter on patrol. Angela moved her hands aside and began glowing entirely blue, a visible psychic barrier became apparent on the body of the monstrosity, as it reached to claw forward again, the barrier reached under its arm and with all of her might, Angela pushed it backwards and off balance. The process was so exerting that Angela made show of her effort with a grunt, something Harvic noticed she never did before, just showing how heavy the thing really was.
Being knocked back, the monster shambled to its side and knocked into the decrepit-looking tenement behind it. Upside down, the monster's body cracked and trembled as the arms and head of the beast simply turned 180 degrees to face the correct direction again. The sound resembled that of stone grinding on metal, and it pierced their ears. The sheer heat from its body began scorching the bricks of the building. Sirens became apparent in the distance and Harvic felt hope that the Police had spotted what was going on.
The few passersby in the area had slowly crept closer to the ruckus and could be seen in the streets around the monster, recording from their phones and Pokedexes, but keeping their distance.
The monstrosity grabbed hold of the building it had smashed into, its claws tore and melted into the brick foundation before ripping a sizeable chunk from it. The beast reared its ugly head towards them.
"He's gonna throw it! Use Psybeam Angela! See if you can hit it!"
Having read his thoughts, he found she was already preparing the special move, and as the monster reared its arms to throw the chunk of brick and rebar, she fired the beam of psychic energy. The spectators were frozen in terror at the sight of the monster, too afraid to jump in and help, they simply watched aimlessly, recording the situation as the beam fired through the air like a railgun.
Harvic's face fell when he saw that the beam missed both the monster and the projectile, instead slamming into the building over it. The monster lobbed the hunk of debris towards them just as the building began collapsing from the psychic energy's dispersion. Angela quickly tried creating a barrier to stop it, but its mass was too large, and it was travelling much too fast.
Seeing this, Harvic instinctually pushed her as far as he could before attempting to jump out of the way himself.
The sound of the debris crashing into the ground was deafening, as it tore through the cement and asphalt, rebar shredding through the ground. The building began collapsing even further as the cornered supports crumbled and began slamming onto the monstrosity below. Huge chunks of cement bricks and metal rebar slammed and stabbed into the monster, melting onto its body as it touched the hot flames coming from it. As more began to fall onto it, the flames began to die down as it struggled with the tremendous force thrown upon it.
As the metal and concreate began to cool, it solidified the creature where it stood, looking like Atlas holding up the world, except instead it was the entirety of the corner of a building tenement. Cracking could be heard as it continually tried to melt and break through the debris that had fallen on top of it, but it only broke through a few layers at a time.
As cracks began to form on the outer layer of the cooled foundation material, it let out another guttural roar. Seeing this Angela used Psychic again from prone, straining with her arms in a forceful motion, attempting to pull on the building more. The corner of the building slowly became imbued with the same aura surrounding her, and with another quick motion she began crumbling the building towards the beast.
The beast finally began to tear at the concrete above it, only for more to fall as the building leaned more and more as Angela pulled on it with all her strength. The building's corner finally gave a thunderous crunching sound as it was pulled away from the building's frame. The debris crumbled before completely snapping and slamming downwards, covering the beast and the surrounding area. A thick mix of gray dust, dirt, and smashed concrete filled the air and it became hard to see clearly.
Watching this carefully, Harvic sighed, quickly looking to Angela and noticing she was fine as she stood up relatively easily, though wincing slightly. The blue psychic glow slowly disappeared from her body. She stood tall, and he couldn't help but admire her strength and how she was willing to let him escape at the cost of what may have been herself. He smiled weakly, he wanted nothing more than to hug her right now and tell her how proud he was of her.
He hadn't been paying attention to them, but the sirens were on top of them now. He could see the reflection of red and blue lights on the buildings nearby, as well as on the dust cloud itself, but for some reason he couldn't turn his body to look. He felt heavy. As Angela turned to look at him, he noticed her eyes fill with shock, "Nice shot Angela. Y-You got 'im." He spoke with a coarse voice and it was then that he lost consciousness.
Angela turned to look at Harvic, she was happy that her plan to hit the building worked but was hoping it would have worked before the monster could lob that crazy-sized boulder of building materials. As she turned to see Harvic she noticed that a particularly large piece of debris and concreate had landed itself on his back, and it looked like he had been knocked out.
Before she could run to him a loud stern voice filled the air, "You! Pokémon! Freeze! Stay where you are!" She turned and noticed a collection of Luthworth PD had arrived in a chain of cars and had tranquilizers out and ready for use. Seeing Harvic in that state she disregarded the Police and rushed to his side, ignoring the shrill commands being shouted at her movements.
"I'm here, I'm here, please be ok, you're ok right? You're ok." Tears welled up in her eyes and she didn't know if she was reassuring him or herself. As she turned blue to try and move the debris, she heard a whistle in the air and noticed her arm had been pierced with a dart. "No! No! He's h-hurt he's…" she trailed off as the fast-acting tranquilizer worked its magic, causing her to fall next to the one she loved unsure if he was even alive.
There was only darkness, but he did not feel compressed or nonexistent. He in fact felt like he was within eternity itself, in an endless void.
I bet you feel weak don't you? A shrill dark voice came from within the darkness. You let her take care of that beast all alone and she almost died protecting you, because you were powerless. You're so pathetic that you still managed to be in the way, getting hurt, again. You get hurt the most of everyone, you're week. But you know- the voice paused. It doesn't have to be that way. That is why I am here.
"And Who are you? Why do I feel like I know you? And where the hell am I? Am I-" Harvic paused, feeling full of dread, "-Am I dead?"
No fool, you are unconscious. And I, I am you, the you deep inside that wants out. The one with the ability to protect himself, and the ability to protect the ones he cares about. The one he loves.
"What do you even mean by that? That wasn't really an answer. And I-I can take care of my friends! I do it all the time! I feed them, I-"
And when you come across an unstoppable force?
"Then we'll all deal with it together! Though I must admit, this is the most lucid dream I've had in a while. I don't even have a body in this dream, it's like I'm in my own thoughts."
Or you're in mine.
"Don't get weird now dream ghost."
An audible sigh emerged from the darkness. One day soon you will come across something that will hurt your friends and you will come crawling back to me in your failure to protect them. If you die then what will become of your friends?
Harvic's body popped into existence within the realm of his mind, along with him another figure materialized. An older man in a three-piece tweed suit. His hair was silver, it could not quite be described as white or grey. The wrinkles on his face looked like that of his grandfathers. Though he couldn't be too sure.
"You look familiar."
We've made a deal in the past, and I aim to collect on my part. You will let me free.
"That sounds cryptic, care to explain our shared history together? Or just care to make cryptic statements all day, like everyone I seem to talk to."
I am the source of your desire for revenge, for your anger, and your hatred, I am the culmination of your sins, and the one who set you free, now you must do the same for me, I must collect for each life I've taken for you.
"And how many lives is that?"
One
"You're saying that I hired you to kill someone? I highly doubt that, and I highly doubt that you, as a ghost, could murder someone"
No, you killed someone yourself of your own volition, though you created me to go through with it.
"What the hell does that mean? Can't you just talk like I talk so I can understand you?"
I am you, just another version of you, one without the care of morality, one free from the shackles of man.
"Ah jeez you're talking even worse now. So you're saying I made you like an imaginary friend? Or are you saying you're some schizophrenic vision I have? Ah crap, they were right. Those doctors my dad made me see. I am crazy. Some personality I created to kill someone? I've never killed anyone!"
How soon you forget when you block it all away in your mind. You were helpless, spineless, and I took care of you, almost like a brother or a best friend would. When she struck you I struck back, and she no longer became a problem.
"Who the hell are you talking about? T-This is all a dream, that's gotta be it, this is all bullshit and I'm gonna wake up in a Pokecenter or hospital like I always do and I'll be fine! Fuck you and fuck your fancy suit!"
Classy. And yes, and which hospital will it be? The one in the world of your true home, where you lie sleepless? Or this one of fantastic color and characters of which you have fallen in love with?
It was with this question that Harvic noticed the man's eyes had turned black, and when he looked into them, he lost all feeling of his limbs, and once again became one with the void.
Harvic jolted awake with a start, his heart felt heavy, and his mind groggy, as they did normally when he woke up, and in the same way as always, the dream of his sleep quickly fled his mind, despite his attempt to grasp it. He couldn't remember his dream, yet he knew something was horribly wrong. When he first began to move he noticed his limbs felt numb, the feeling of pins and needles annoying his senses.
Looking around he noticed he had awoken Angela, who had apparently been sleeping with her head on the bed he was in. "Hey you." He said with a smile before clearing his throat. "Got any water?"
Her eyes widened and a huge smile flashed on her face, "You're finally awake!" she cried with a hug. "I've been using heal pulse on you for hours and hours just to be sure! And Jeremy took turns sleeping near you to keep warm, an-and Joey was always at your side, and Angelica watched your vitals the entire time and I-I just…"
"You saved me." He embraced her in a hug as the tears began welling in her eyes and he could feel the emotions drain from her onto him and back again. Their emotions melded and it was a feeling the two had never felt before, strange, though pleasant. After a few seconds, a small snort was heard as Jeremy awoke from all the commotion, followed by the others.
What followed was a commotion of hugs and worried looks as Harvic gave praise and assurance that he was okay now. Apparently, it had been bad, the debris had almost crushed his spine and nerves but within the fight Angela had learned the ability "heal pulse" which was crucial for keeping Harvic's spinal nerves alive on the ride to the hospital. Talk about timing.
After hearing about the fight and damage to Harvic once released by Angela, the other Pokémon never left his side, despite hospital regulations forbidding them there. When they were asked to leave the room, the collection of angry and defiant looks the nurse had got led them to not ask a second time.
After a moment of slight tears and commotion, Harvic sighed before trying to cheer things up. "Man I am just always prone to waking up in hospitals man. Well Angela now you can be the resident nurse and I don't have to keep bothering these poor nurses and doctors!"
Angela gave a small sigh and shake of the head before she smirked and took his hand.
There was a strange connection between the two of them now, but neither could put it into words. They both stared each other in the eyes for a long moment and Harvic found himself a loss for words. Her eyes were a dark crimson red, and they were shiny from her tears. It was hard to tear his gaze from them.
He gave his head a quick shake to regain his focus and he noticed he had forgotten his train of thought, all the while Angela blushed and brought her hand to her face, feeling the heat coming from the blood rushing to her face.
"Well anyways, guys, I'm just glad no one got hurt."
Jeremy stepped on his hand and gave a defiant snort, blowing a small puff of smoke into his face.
"Well yeah, I got hurt, but I meant you guys. I do not want anything happening to you guys. Giving them a look-over Harvic noticed a bandage on Angela's arm. "What happened there?"
"When the collection crew came, they tranquilized me in case I was dangerous. They apologized afterwards but said they didn't know the story and would rather had been safer than sorry. They wanted to talk to you by the way"
"As long as they didn't hurt you, we can always go find them and talk."
"They didn't, no worries."
"Good." Harvic gave a good thought as to what exactly had happened, "What did they actually do with that…thing?"
"They brought some kind of a containment device that was able to morph it back to a Ditto form and contain it that way, it was some crazy technology but I was able to see it happen when I first woke up. That and they checked the van for survivors and…" She paused, "No one made it."
"Angela, that van…"
"I know, it was awful what happened to those people."
"Yes, but Angela it was silver and red, like in that story you…" he paused and looked at the others, "…that story you told me about."
Angela's eyes widened in surprise, "You-You're right. It, it was those colors. It was them. It was…how did I miss…" She trailed off.
"I've been seeing those colors everywhere around here, and I think it's about time we get to the source and get some answers, That van was around when that Ditto was around, the Ditto took the form of Rose, who I now realize was wearing the red and silver colors too! This ain't a coincidence! There is absolutely no way!"
Angela searched in her memories and found the colors to be true and a sense of dread reoccurred over her as she relived that night shortly in her mind.
"Angela, it's okay…" He noticed her face fill with pain, "…we can do this, we can get to the bottom of this. If they are still around, and if there are more of them, we need to put a stop to it. But we can't rush in, we have to get some info first and head to the city center."
Angela gave Harvic a sad look, but after a moment nodded, "You're right."
Angelica looked between the two before interjecting:
Is anyone going to fill us in on this red and white color nonsense?
Harvic looked to Angela and still noticed the pain in her eyes as she investigated his. "No, not today, but we will sometime soon." He responded, turning toward Angelica, who seemed to at least accept that response. "Alright guys, let's get out of here."
Just as they began to stand a few uniformed police officers walked into the room, "Sir are you feeling alright?"
"Much better now, thanks for showing up when you did."
The officer who had spoken nodded before continuing, "We had a few questions for the report if you don't mind."
"Not at all." Suspecting it may take some time, Harvic sat back onto the edge of the bed as the officers took a seat across from him.
"Sir did you at all notice any individuals in the area of the rampant Ditto? Were you able to get a visual of those in the van who were attacked?"
"We didn't see the people themselves, but the van was driving straight toward us, and it was silver and red."
One of the officer's eyes narrowed, "silver and red?"
"Yes sir."
The officer jotted something down onto a notepad, "due to the heat of the form the Ditto took, the wreckage was unrecognizable other than a few witnesses stating it was a van heading towards the scene."
"The Ditto also took form of a person in a red and silver outfit, I'm pretty sure they're connected."
"As are we."
Harvic's brow raised, "Who are these people wearing that stuff?"
One of the officers took his hat off and ran his fingers through his hair before acknowledging his partner who then went on to speak, "They're a group of domestic terrorists who have been enacting acts of terror and mayhem through the region and specifically in Luthworth. They are believed to have anti-Pokémon sentiment. They've classified themselves as The Orion Initiative."
"Anti-Pokémon sentiment?"
"Basically they want the Xendar region to rid itself of Pokémon and become a human-only free-state." The other officer chimed in.
"But why would they want something like that?"
"Beats me, they've done everything from using Pokémon as destructive forces to experimenting on them just to try and turn the public against them. By demonstrating their misuse and danger, In some parts of the city it's worked, and some locals have already banned Pokemon entirely within their neighborhoods and shops."
Harvic's heart pulsed as he glanced at Angela, "This makes no sense, I always thought Xendar was the most open of the regions, isn't it?"
The officer who had been speaking rubbed his beard as he thought for a moment, "Perhaps at one point, but not anymore." The man sighed as a spoke.
"How on Earth did they get their hands on a Ditto, let alone make it so crazy and monstrous?" Harvic questioned what was on everyone's minds.
"No one knows, he had a few leads on the inside but they've cut loose, and we don't get any inside information anymore. Hell, anytime we even patrol those broken-down backroads of the city, we get mobbed, so most officers avoid Orion territory, and urge citizens to do the same." The officer lifted his finger at Harvic, "You were lucky this time, normally we see a lot more people involved, and it looks like the Orion guys got what they deserved right from their own creation that time, but next time, stay out of those areas, take the long way around and stay in populated areas that haven't been evacuated"
The officer stopped as he signaled to his friend and they both stood, prompting Harvic to do the same respectfully. "Well anyways, we now have solid confirmation that they were again involved, maybe now we can push the mayor towards letting us take action, thanks for your information."
Harvic nodded, "Thanks for the warning."
The officer also nodded and signaled for his partner to move out. The partner gave the group a small wave as he followed the first. As they walked away, he noticed a large "K-9" decal on their backs, along with Pokéballs at their hips. They were K-9 officers.
"Terrorists? In Xendar? Seriously?" Harvic muttered largely to himself once he was sure the officers had left, "Let alone anti-Pokémon terrorists?"
"Well guys…" He spoke looking to his companions, "…looks like you know about it now."
