Chapter 24 - Goodbye Naruto?
Several years ago
Mirajane gritted her teeth as she dragged her leg across the streets of Magnolia. The girl injured herself after taking a job that became a bit too difficult for her. Looking down at her leg to find it bleeding and cursed. Not wanting to collapse and embarrass herself, Mira dragged herself into a nearby alleyway. Slumping down on the ground, Mira grasped her leg as she tried looking in her travel bag for something useful for her energy.
All she really had was her map, compass, extra food and a sleeping bag. Nothing really useful for trying to stop a bloody injured leg. That's without taking in the other important things to do when treating such a bad injury. Such as disinfecting the wound, cleaning up the blood and actually using bandages or something equivalent. Mira really cursed her luck as her leg was hurting badly and would only get worse before she reached her guild.
Much to her luck, she was found but by someone she didn't want to see her in moment of weakness.
"Mira are you okay?" asked a familiar voice.
'Why him of all people? I'll take Natsu over this brat.' Mira thought as she saw Siegfried Naruto finding her in the alley.
"You're bleeding!" Siegfried exclaimed.
"No shit Sherlock." Mira replied.
"No swearing Mira, it makes you less pretty." Siegfried said as he scrambled through his bag.
"I don't care what you think. It's not like I think you're any better looking." Mira replied, thinking Siegfried was insulting her.
But the boy ignored the reply, "Let me clean that up." he said as he grabbed some supplies.
Mira held her leg tightly, "No! Don't touch me!" she said.
"I won't do anything bad Mira-chan. Grandma taught me how to do this when I hurt my leg once." Siegfried replied as he prepared the disinfectant.
"Probably because you're too clumsy when you're by yourself." Mira said hurting Siegfried.
"Mira, if you want help. You have to be nice." Siegfried said. "You don't think Lisanna and Elfman aren't going to be worried if they see you?" he asked.
Mira held back her anger, "Fine, fix me, but it's on you if you make it worse." she said.
Siegfried gently cleaned up Mirajane's wound as the girl gritted her teeth. The disinfectant did it's job killing the bacteria but it hurt Mira as a result. It ended once the young boy tied the bandage around her injury.
"Okay Mira-chan, take it slow or it's going to be really bad again." Siegfried said.
Mira groaned as she slowly stood up, "I know, I'm not an idiot." she said. "Don't think I owe you anything." She said.
Siegfried grinned, "You can always pay me in friendship Mira-chan. Which you do everyday." he said. Mira wasn't sure how to respond to that, "Besides, I'll always help all my friends in Fairy Tail." He said.
"W-Whatever, don't tell anyone." Mira said as he pride was on the line.
"Okay, it's your privacy." Siegfried said before leaving.
Mira really felt annoyed by his friendly attitude, "What kind of kid are you?" She asked.
"I'm not a kid, I'm your friend! Siegfried Naruto!" Siegfried replied.
"That's too long a name! You're just Naruto." Mira said.
Siegfried pouted, "Fine, I'm Naruto. Always Naruto." He said as Mira looked down at her leg.
"I'm going to kick his ass if this gets worse. It's bad enough he mocks me with that smile and friendship crap. Who does he think he is?" Mira said angrily, unaware that the boy was just being nice to her.
13 year old girls can really be immature idiots.
Modern Day
Mira frowned at her younger brother, "What now?" she asked.
"I forgot my wallet! This is so not manly!" Elfman said as he dug through his pockets.
"Elfman, we have to leave in a couple of hours for the S Class exams. We won't have time to eat if we go back for your wallet." Mira said.
Elfman sighed, "You two go ahead without me. I'll be back before you two finish." he said sacrificing his lunch.
That's when a familiar and bloody face appeared, "Is something wrong?" Siegfried asked.
"Oh hey Naru- WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR FACE!?" Lisanna screamed as her eyes were ready to fall out of her head.
Siegfried literally looked like he jumped inside of a wood chipper and decided to go swimming inside of it several times before popping out. Though it looked like his physical body wasn't fractured, it was mostly some exterior issues like parts of his flesh and armor.
"Happy Halloween?" Siegfried asked.
"It's December!" Lisanna yelled.
"It's December? Already?" Siegfried asked.
"Naruto what happened to you?" Mira asked as she subconsciously clasped her hands onto Siegfried's face.
"I didn't find Laxus, but I found a lot of dark mages holding their super secret dark mage meeting in their dark mage hideout." Siegfried answered.
Mira sweat dropped, "This line of work is going to kill you." She said.
"No it won't, I've had my father's special magic for six months now." Siegfried answered. "Anyways, what's wrong? Elfman looks concerned." he asked.
"I'm staring at a bloody guy that looks like a building fell on him. That's why I'm freaked out." Elfman answered.
"Before that." Siegfried said.
"Oh, uh… I forgot my wallet and we can't have lunch now." Elfman said sounding depressed.
"I'll cover the bill for you. I'm starving anyways." Siegfried said.
"Really?" Lisanna asked.
Elfman looked unsure, "I don't know, I don't wanna be the kind of guy that…"
"Elfman, we're going inside and enjoy lunch together like friends." Lisanna said as she gave her brother a scary grin.
Mira didn't notice the look, "Lisanna, it wouldn't be right to make Naruto spend his…" she tried to say before Lisanna shut her up.
"Nope, too late! Naruto is here! Besides, you hardly wanted us to hang out when we were kids!" Lisanna said as she dragged Mira inside.
Siegfried sweat dropped, "Lisanna is being oddly hostile." he said.
A little while later
Siegfried arrived at the booth a few minutes later after cleaning himself up in the washroom. Which did result in a few men screaming in terror when they saw the bloody injured man that looked somewhat like a serial killer walk in. It's a good think Siegfried always carries a change of clothes in the form of his special storage magic.
"Sorry, did I take too long?" Siegfried asked.
"Nope, right on time." Lisanna answered right away. "You should sit next to Mira." she said as Mira was the only one with an open seat.
Mira glared at her sister, 'You little sneak.' she thought as her crush sat next to her.
"Are you okay Strauss?" Siegfried asked.
"Yes, I'm… what did you call me?" Mirajane asked.
"You always call me by my last name so I'll call you by yours." Siegfried answered.
Mira pouted, "Your name is too hard! It's not as hard as Mirajane!" she argued. "Besides, some people just call me Mira." she said.
"Then you can earn that privilege back when you say my name, Strauss." Siegfried said while internally laughing.
"Hey speaking of which, did you guys legally adopt Filo? I mean, she's technically a bird, but she can turn into a person like a backwards Lisanna." Elfman asked.
"Yeah, Erza should be expecting the documents in the mail since we went together." Siegfried answered.
"You went with stupid Erza, but not me?" Mira asked.
"You weren't around." Siegfried answered.
Mira looked sad, "So I'm not legally her mother now?" she asked.
"You'll get a document in the mail too." Siegfried said cheering her up.
"Wait, so what's Filo's last name?" Lisanna asked.
"It's Naruto." Siegfried said making Lisanna face fault. "If she were a boy, I would have named her Naruto." she said.
"Who calls their kid, Naruto Naruto?" Lisanna asked with the twitch of her eye.
"It was a joke." Siegfried said as Lisanna sighed.
"Don't you have to be legally married to be named parents?" Elfman asked.
"Elfman!" Mira exclaimed.
"What? Did I say something wrong?" Elfman asked sounding confused.
"No you didn't. Also, it's a weird thing but you don't have to be married for the parenting process." Siegfried said as Mira felt calm. "Though it didn't help that Erza eagerly had her wedding dress ready with her Requip." he added as he felt Mira's murderous intent.
'Erza! I'm going to kill you!' Mira thought.
Lisanna quickly moved the subject, "So are you going to stay at the guild for a while? Just about everyone Filo knows will be on the island." She asked.
The closest person who Filo does know that isn't going is Kurama and he's not exactly going to give Filo the same treatment as Wendy. Shukaku is also definitely out of the question. The last thing Siegfried wants is another child Gaara.
"I'm sure she can sleepover with Wendy if I'm needed elsewhere." Siegfried said.
"Naruto, Wendy is going to the trials too. She's going to be Mest's partner." Lisanna said.
Siegfried raised a brow, "Who's Mest?" he asked.
"I don't know." Lisanna answered.
Of course, Lisanna was in Edolas for two years and Siegfried was gone for three times as long. Neither of them could know who joined and left the guild for long periods of time.
"It's not like he's really social. I think Mest is one of those forgettable background types." Mira said.
Siegfried pondered this, "I'll just have to take Filo with me." he said.
"Oh no you don't mister! You are not taking Filo to go dark mage hunting!" Lisanna exclaimed.
Lisanna's mind
Filo was giggling as she jumped into her father's arm, "Look papa! I destroyed a dark guild!" she said.
"My Filo has made me so proud!" Siegfried said as he hugged Filo.
All the while a dark mage hideout could be seen burning down in the background. With several dark mages screaming as they jumped out the windows while still on fire. The rest were either already dead inside or dead on the outside with several bladed weapons stabbed into their bodies.
"I wanna look for more dark mages!" Filo said excitedly.
In reality
"What's wrong with that? It's educational." Siegfried replied as the Strauss siblings felt concerned. "Besides, that's how my mother taught Laxus." he said.
"I want to say that's why he's messed up, but…" Mira trailed off as she remembered how evil Laxus turned before being excommunicated.
Siegfried sighed, "Lisanna, when Laxus was a kid. He gained a brother but lost a mother, he's just messed up in the head." he said.
"Oh, I never knew." Lisanna said feeling down.
"Enough serious talk, one of you is making S class, the other is an exam proctor and… the final one is a punching bag." Siegfried said changing the subject.
Lisanna sweat dropped by Elfman looked like the one that was in pain, "I wanted Lisanna to team up with me but she forced Juvia to take her." He said.
"Elfman, I told you. Juvia was my friend in Edolas. We'll get along really quickly." Lisanna said.
"I don't think that's how it works little sister." Mira said.
"Yeah, look at me. I hate Gajeel and my Edolas counterpart is best friends with his Gajeel." Siegfried said. "Alternate dimensions mean alternate people. As far as we know, Juvia probably dislikes your personality." he said.
"That's mean don't you think Naruto? Juvia is friendly with everyone." Mira said.
"Any non-female and female that isn't attracted to Gray." Siegfried said.
"But Juvia hates Gray now." Elfman interjected just as the food arrived.
"Actually no, I convinced Juvia to pretend to hate him." Siegfried said surprising them.
With Juvia
Juvia was speed walking down the streets of Magnolia, "Come on Juvia, I didn't mean to offend you!" Gray said.
What happened was Gray tried making one of his favorite snacks and tried to present it to Juvia. Mostly out of guilt since she tried breaking him out of prison. Though technically she was the only one who stood by him when Gray almost fed Natsu to a mechanical torture device made by Daphne. All for forgetting a promise from a decade ago. In hindsight, if Gray really cared that much, he should have reminded Natsu or told an adult with more capability to handle the situation.
Anyways back to the snack, one thing lead to another and he almost spilled it on Juvia. It was some messy pastry Gray loved and luckily for Juvia, she moved out of the way in time and it landed on Evergreen. After a quick kick in the groin, Gray found himself trying to apologize to Juvia who is now actively avoiding him.
"Juvia does not wish to speak to the rude pervert. Juvia can be more productive by focusing on other things." Juvia said coldly.
"Hey don't be mean! What happened to us!?" Gray asked.
Juvia stopped and glared at Gray, "You wanted nothing to do with Juvia, now Juvia realizes that and moved on." she said before walking again.
Suddenly a literal rainy cloud appeared over Gray's head, "I'm sorry! Please, just talk to me again!" He pleaded.
Juvia felt bad but in a way, Gray had to redeem himself. Even if Juvia does go a bit overboard with her tactics in love. Gray isn't exactly the kindest soul when it comes to rejecting someone. Now Juvia could see that she was making real progress.
'It hurts, but Naruto-sama is right! Juvia will win Gray-sama and in a way save him from himself!' Juvia thought as she was fighting back the urge to forgive Gray. "Leave Juvia alone." she said as Gray kept pestering her.
"Would it help if I bought you dinner?" Gray asked.
"Juvia does not accept invitations from exhibitionists." Juvia said.
"What does that mean?" Gray asked before realizing he was in his underwear yet again. "Damn it! I really need to tie these clothes down or something!" he said.
'Juvia is not ready for that yet.' Juvia thought as she saw Gray trying to find his clothes.
Back with the group
With lunch having started, the group focused on their meals and remained mostly silent. At least until Siegfried stopped and smiled. Mira smiled back thinking her crush was starting to get closer to them. When he started laughing long enough to make her feel uncomfortable.
"What's so funny?" Elfman asked.
"I just realized my cocky older brother is a liar." Siegfried answered.
"What did Laxus say?" Mira asked.
"When he was boasting about being the strongest. I overheard him mention that he's seen Mystogan's face a couple of times." Siegfried explained.
"Who's Mystogan?" Lisanna asked.
Siegfried answered before Mira or Elfman did, "He was Menma, my brother really is an idiot." He said.
Lisanna still looked confused, "The prince of Edolas?" she asked.
"Laxus was openly hostile to me when I returned. So that left me thinking, wouldn't he have looked less surprised and angry if he thought I was Mystogan?" Siegfried asked.
"Naruto, you're not making any sense." Mira said as she didn't know the whole story of Edolas.
Until Lisanna started laughing, "That is funny!" she said.
Elfman also started to laugh, "Laxus isn't a real man! A real man doesn't lie! HAHAHA!" he exclaimed.
By this point, everyone but Mira realized that Laxus was lying about two things. One, he wasn't the strongest Fairy Tail wizard, that would be Gildarts. two, he's never seen Mystogan's real face, otherwise he would have acted more suspiciously by the fact that it was Achilles Menma who looks just like Siegfried Naruto. Laxus obviously would have slipped up thinking his brother was Mystogan when they met for the first time in six years.
"So who was Mystogan? I am still very confused!" Mira exclaimed.
Siegfried sighed, "Poor Mira-chan, Erza is the smart one but you're the adorable one." He said as Mira blushed.
Lisanna grinned as she saw her sister being teased. During the laughs and exchanges, Lisanna quickly got the attention of a server and asked for extra drinks. Including a special order for her sister. A few minutes later, when the laughing had calmed down, the server came back with three cups.
Elfman and Lisanna got two regular cups while Mira got a larger special cup with two straws. For some reason, the straws themselves were in the shape of a heart with how they were poitioned.
"Where's my drink?" Siegfried asked.
The server snorted, "This is the lover's special cocktail." They said before they left.
Mira started to turn bright red, "What? Who ordered this?" she asked.
Siegfried gave Mira a bright smile, "Don't worry Mira, just relax and drink. I'll let you take the whole thing if you want." he said.
"N-no! You're probably thirsty too!" Mira stuttered. "Just um, remember which one is your straw." she said.
"Okay." Siegfried said as he took his straw while Mira took hers.
Leaving Lisanna to giggle in the background, 'All according to plan.' she thought.
"Lis, you're scaring me." Elfman said as he didn't understand what was going on.
"Actually, you know what really hurts friendships?" Siegfried asked before he took a sip. "Money." he said.
"Oh?" Mira asked.
"They say money is the root of all evil, it's quite the opposite. It's the matter of actions committed with money or anything of worth." Siegfried began to say. "So much so, people fight and turn hostile on each other. Just like Juvia will when I send her the invoice for Lisanna's stupidity." he said making Lisanna recoil.
"Eh!?" Lisanna asked.
"Did you forget who's paying, Lisanna?" Siegfried asked as Lisanna started to sweat.
Perhaps Lisanna should have looked at the price ranges. Deep down, she always shipped Mira with Siegfried because she knew Mira lied about hating him. A part of her imagination as a child was to see her sister married to a kind hearted boy who would become guild master. However, like weddings, romantic drinks are very expensive.
"So not manly, Lis." Elfman said as he saw the price.
Siegfried sighed, "Poor Mira, no wonder you were always stressed. Lisanna has no idea how to handle money while you worked your fingers to the bone." he said.
"Hey, don't turn on me!" Lisanna shouted.
Mira gave her sister a dead stare, "Yes, the very reason for my stress." she said.
'No! It wasn't supposed to be like this! I should have brought an aphrodisiac!' Lisanna mentally screamed as she started to get nervous.
The results for Today's Battle: Lisanna loses.
Later that day, on the boat
With lunch over, Siegfried and the Strauss siblings made their way towards the harbor. Where Makarov was already having preparations set up and ready to set sail in another hour or two. With that, Mira stopped as she saw her siblings walk on board.
"Naruto, I enjoyed today. It was short, but… I missed this." Mira said.
"Care to elaborate?" Siegfried asked.
Mira turned and looked up Siegfried's green eyes, "I missed being around the old you. The one that's always happy and I saw him again today." she said.
"I've always been here Mira." Siegfried said.
"No you weren't." Mira replied as she looked at his chest. "You were broken, like a cracked shell that was barely holding itself together. When you were in that coma, you were almost broken for good." she explained.
Siegfried silently listened as Mira subconsciously placed a hand on his chest.
"I was scared, I felt useless again like when I thought Lisanna died. Like I could do something, but I didn't know what I could do." Mira said. "Does that make sense?" she asked.
"In a way." Siegfried answered.
"I felt like I lost everything that day. My power, my will to fight, my sister and all I had left was Elfman and he was pretty broken too." Mira explained. "You know, I remember how confident we were about that quest two years ago. It was our first S Class quest and we blew it." she said.
Siegfried gently placed a hand on her shoulders, "I know that the thrill Mira. You just can't comprehend the reality of the situation until it happens." he said while images of Soul Edge's eye appeared in his mind.
"I know that, but… we could have done things differently. I even mocked Natsu about being too weak and put him down when he probably could have helped." Mira said wishing things were different.
"Mira, you should be happy Lisanna is back again." Siegfried said. "Sometimes, you cant' wish for some happy ending where someone you love just comes back. It takes something bigger than a miracle. A true fairytale." he said.
Mira leaned closer to his chest, "I guess so." She said. "After all, you came back to me… the guild! You came back to the guild!" she said catching her mistake.
Siegfried smiled, "You still have yet to understand your feelings Mira." he said as Mira blushed.
"I think I know them." Mira said as she moved back.
"I think you need more time." Siegfried said before hearing someone call for him.
"Papa!" Filo called out.
Siegfried turned and saw Filo being carried in Erza's arms. The girl was giggling as Erza approached Siegfried. Siegfried quickly took the girl from Erza's arms and started carrying her.
"Mama Erza and mama Mira are about to go on the boat trip." Filo said.
"Are they now?" Siegfried asked, humoring the girl.
"Yeah, they have to test uncle Elf and everyone to see who's the strongest." Filo answered. "But you're the strongest!" she said.
Siegfried chuckled, "Oh I'm the strongest? I don't know, I think uncle Gildarts and grandpa Makarov are stronger." he said.
Filo shook her head, "Nope, you are!" she said.
Siegfried sighed, "Okay Filo, whatever you say." he said before looking at Erza. "So this is it? The exams?" he asked.
"This is it, we have some interesting faces here today. Even Levy got nominated." Erza answered.
"Really? Then who's partnered with her?" Siegfried asked.
"Jet and Droy argued about who should team up with her, but Gajeel forced her to partner with him." Erza said.
Mira looked panicked, "Erza don't say it like that!" she yelled.
"Why?" Erza asked as she forgot an important detail.
Siegfried immediately pulled out Balmung, "I'm going to reduce the amount of passengers." he said as he tried walking up to the boat.
"Naruto, you are not allowed to attack anyone onboard!" Makarov yelled saw his grandson approaching the ship.
"I'm just going to motivate them." Siegfried lied.
"Siegfried Naruto! You will obey my instruction or you are grounded!" Makarov yelled again.
"I'm coming up there!" Siegfried shouted.
Filo looked confused, "Why is grandpa mad?" she asked.
"It's complicated Filo, just know that your father doesn't like Gajeel and is overprotective of your aunt." Erza told the child which only confused her more.
Much later
Siegfried sighed as he sat down on a bench. After a long argument that turned into a more peaceful talk. The Azure Knight calmed down and decided not to confront Gajeel. Instead, it looked like Erza was trying to reduce his stress.
"You want me to buy you ramen?" Erza asked.
"I don't want ramen." Siegfried replied.
"Naruto, I know you don't like it and to be fair. Gajeel isn't the most friendly of people." Erza said.
"Then you can agree with me." Siegfried said.
"In a way, but he did save Levy from Laxus remember?" Erza asked making Siegfried grumble. "People can change for the better. Have you ever thought about that?" she asked.
"Ask the Nightsisters Clan." Siegfried replied.
The clan is dead and the last few tried to assist the Oracion Seis.
Erza sighed, "Okay, bringing up the dark mages like always." she muttered. "Can you at least behave for Filo's sake? She misses you and sees you less often." she said.
"I will." Siegfried said.
"And don't fill her head with propaganda about dark mages." Erza suggested.
"And maybe we should ban cheesecake." Siegfried replied bitterly.
Erza took a deep breath as she touched her own chest, "Naruto, I have done things. Many bad things without thinking, but you do not have to be so rude." she said almost sounding like she's holding back her tears.
Filo looked confused again, "Now why are mama and papa getting mad at each other?" she asked.
"Ignore them sweetie." Mira said as she tried leading her daughter away.
After a few minutes, the two stopped whatever their argument was about. With the two just looking at the boat ready to head towards the S Class trials.
"Naruto, just please promise to take care of Filo. I know you have your own duties, but Filo is still a child and needs someone to look after her." Erza said.
"I know." Siegfried replied. "I'm not just going to drop her off with someone else." he said.
Erza smiled, "I'm glad to hear that. I knew I would have faith in you." she said.
"Just don't give any credit to Gildarts or anyone else." Siegfried said.
Erza's smile faltered, "I won't." she said realizing what he meant.
Siegfried stood up and slowly helped Erza stand, "Just don't go overboard with the candidates. I think to this day, you get a bit too eager." he said.
"Being an S Class wizard is difficult Naruto. The candidates have to be strong willed, intelligent, disciplined and ready for the worst. On top of that…"
"You're doing it again. You're being controlling." Siegfried said.
Erza shook her head, "Even so, the title means a lot." she said. Siegfried suddenly laughed, "What is so funny?" Erza asked sounding surprised.
"That title is just for people to take higher risk missions. It's not even an official ranking within the legal guild system." Siegfried answered. "And besides, I'm D rank mage and I lost to you because I decided to take a nap." he said.
"That was different!" Erza argued.
"Erza, it's not my fault that you and Mira are bad fighters." Siegfried said followed by another laugh.
"It's not funny!" Erza yelled as she got angry.
Siegfried patted her head, "Come back and I'll offer you a rematch for the rematch." He said.
Erza glared at Siegfried, "You've become Natsu…"
"Levy already told me that." Siegfried interrupted.
"Well you are! You aren't thinking and you only want to fight!" Erza said very angrily.
Siegfried chuckled, "It was just a joke." he said as Erza pouted. He then started reaching into his jacket pocket, "Hold on, I have something for you in case the trip to Tenrou Island seems too long." he said as he hands her over a scroll.
"A scroll? What's inside?" Erza asked.
"It's not poetry, if that's what you're wondering." Siegfried answered.
Erza still looked slightly peeved from the earlier statement, "I will hang onto this then." she said. "Naruto, take good care of yourself." she said as she started making her way towards the ship.
Siegfried nodded and was about to go look for Filo. When Erza suddenly stopped in place and called out to Siegfried.
"Naruto, I've disappointed the guild." Erza said.
Siegfried groaned, "Enough of this Erza. We're not going over this again." he said as he felt like he was slowly moving on from the past.
"No, no! Listen, I haven't been appreciative of the guild when I first arrived." Erza began to say. "To me, Rob was a grandfather as Master Makarov is a grandfather to you. I've been hiding behind armor, acting arrogant, pushing everyone away and taking you for granted. I apologize again. I just fail to control my frustration." she explained.
Siegfried sighed, "Erza, you are strengthening that heart of yours. Mira is doing the same." he said. "So learn to forgive yourself. Don't think of it as forgetting and pretending what you did never happened. Learn from it instead of beating yourself up." he said.
Erza smiled and before she could walk onto the ship. She hugged Siegfried very tightly.
"Rob would be proud of how much you've grown and developed." Siegfried said making Erza smile.
"And when I come back, you're joining the guild again and taking off that cross over your sigil." Erza whispered.
Siegfried hugged back, "And we're throwing away your perverted books." he whispered back.
"Baby steps." Erza said as she broke the hug. "By the way, Levy told me something after you left me and kissed my cheek." she tried to say.
"I love Hisui, Erza." Siegfried suddenly said with a calm voice and stoic face.
Erza suddenly looked awkward, "And that is why I am glad Levy told me to be happy with your decisions! Congratulations to the both of you!" she said as she ran up the plank leading to the ship.
Mira bumped into Siegfried, "You're most definitely rejoining the guild Naruto." she said with a scary smile.
"I'm not retracting my statement Mira." Siegfried said as he tried reaching out to Mira's emotions.
"Oh I'm not judging, just pointing out that your home outweighs your job. Okay?" Mira asked as she hugged Siegfried a bit too tightly.
"I'll miss you too." Siegfried said before giving Mira a kiss on the forehead.
Mira blushed she stumbled backwards, "Make sure Filo is in bed by 10 and that she brushes her teeth before bed. No junk food after 6 PM either." Mira said as she slowly walked onboard.
"I'll have dinner ready by the time you come back." Siegfried said as everyone was onboard.
Filo then ran to the side of her adoptive father and waved at the guild, "Bye everyone! I'll miss you!" she yelled.
"Bye Filo!" everyone yelled.
Siegfried sighed as he saw that ship slowly sail away, "How many times did I see that ship move and wish I was onboard?" he asked out loud. "Hopefully Levy and the girls have the equipment I gave them." he added.
"Papa, can we train while mama Mira and mama Erza are away?" Filo asked.
"Sure Filo, we can invite Uncle Kurama too. So he doesn't look sad and alone." Siegfried said as he looked at the fox.
Kurama was watching the boat leave as he said his goodbye to Wendy. Only to turn and glare at Siegfried for making him sound like a depressed loner. The fox is lucky that the other Bijuu weren't around to tease him about caring for a human child. He could only imagine what his father would say. Ashura would have likely said something mushy about Kurama learning to love humans.
"That's sweet, Kurama loves his daughter." the imaginary ghost of Ashura Otsutsuki said.
"Shut up nerd." Kurama whispered to the imaginary ghost.
"Let's go home Filo. You're staying in my room tonight." Siegfried said.
"Can we also do missions until everyone comes back?" Filo asked.
"Only small super easy missions." Siegfried said before hearing Filo whine.
With the group
Mira was gritting her teeth as she gripped the side of the ship. Despite her small frame and being in base form. Mira slowly tore off a piece of the wood on the ship as Erza watched.
"I'm gonna wring that spoiled princess by the neck if I see her again." Mira murmured.
Erza stifled a laugh, "Naruto does not love Hisui." she said catching Mira off guard. "He just said that to cut the conversation short." she said.
Mira suddenly looked happy again, "Oh okay!" she said before giving Erza a scary stare. "You better not be messing with me Erza." she said.
"Mira, just tell Naruto you love him when you see him. I'm sure he can sense your emotions." Erza said.
"I don't love him!" Mira lied.
"Mira, I wear armor to feel safe when all it did was weaken me." Erza said as she looked at Mira with a serious face. "Are you trying to tell me that the Big Bad Scary Demon is scared of telling a boy that she likes him?" she asked.
Mira puffed her cheeks, "Stop messing with me Erza!" she exclaimed.
"Maybe you should stop messing with yourself Mira." Erza said. "If I have to learn to forgive myself. You have to learn to stop lying to yourself." she said catching Mira off guard.
Mira's silence was proof of her denying her true feelings.
Later that night
As Mira said, Siegfried made sure Filo was ready for bed. The girl was already well fed, put into her pajamas and had her teeth brushed before being put into Siegfried's bed. The older man kissed Filo's forehead as he tucked her in.
"Papa, where are you going to sleep?" Filo asked.
"In here, I got an extra sleeping bag from my travels." Siegfried answered.
"No, sleep here with me papa. There's lots of room." Filo offered.
Siegfried smiled at his daughter, "I'll be fine Filo. Just rest up, we'll get you a mission tomorrow." he said.
"Really papa!?" Filo asked with excitement.
"Yes Filo, Mira isn't around, but Kinana is allowed to give approval for missions." Siegfried answered. "So be a good girl and get lots of sleep. You need lots of energy to do a mission." he said.
"Okay papa." Filo answered with a yawn. "I love you, good night." she said as she closed her eyes.
"Good night Filo." Siegfried said as he smiled at the child. "Sweet dreams daughter." he whispered as he grabbed his sleeping bag from his backpack.
Siegfried then briefly looked up at a photo on his bedside. One where he toddler version of Laxus was smiling and holding Siegfried as a baby. Next to the boys was a sickly looking Mordred who smiled as best she could for the photo. Siegfried gave a weak smile to the photograph.
'I haven't even told Filo about you Laxus. Where are you now?' Siegfried wondered.
Siegfried had that sudden urge to find his older brother. It all started when Filo realized she was adopted but still wanted love from her parents. The Azure Knight wasn't able to find him in the past couple of weeks and only wondered where he went off. It was a fruitless journey, well not entirely if you count the dark mage stronghold Siegfried found. That in itself is a win in a way.
'Maybe some other time. I don't know what made you turn cold, but at least you learned your mistakes.' Siegfried thought as he unrolled his bag. He then reached for the lamp to turn it off, 'Good night Filo, mom and Laxus.' he thought before falling asleep.
In Siegfried's Mind
Siegfried found himself in the Valley of the End again. Often times, when he found himself in his own subconscious. It would turn into the Valley of the End, only it would be surrounded with so much plant life. As if a sign that the war and terrors of the shinobi world were over. The great battlefield where Hashirama and Madara battled being allowed to healed by time itself.
Yet, Siegfried always felt that he was always filled with turmoil. So it was meant to be some sort of irony or perhaps this sight is meant to signify the end goal Siegfried wants to reach.
However, as Siegfried walked through the now grassy fields along side the river that lead to the now sparkling waterfall. The Azure Knight was startled by the sight of strange winged creatures flying passed his face. They were glowing and their wings fluttered quickly as they moved, leaving only a trail of golden sand or dust behind as they moved.
"Were those…?" Siegfried trailed off as he wondered what creatures those were.
Soon enough, more and more of these creatures started to fly around him. All of them circling around Siegfried as their liter of golden dust fell all around him as their little wings fluttered too quickly for Siegfried to observe. The little creatures eventually left into their own little direction. Leaving Siegfried behind to follow their own path.
"It can't be. They don't even have tails." Siegfried said as he tried chasing them.
Like a child, Siegfried found himself feeling curious by such exotic creatures. Feeling that there was some worth in running behind them and trying to understand what they are for the sake of curiosity. The path would have been more hazardous had this not been his mind, but Siegfried's training over the years was not just physical but mental as well. Using literal mental agility, Siegfried crossed the dangerous paths down the waterfall to chase the sparkling creatures.
When Siegfried reached the bottom and saw the creatures fly through the waterfall. Siegfried moved around, wondering if there was a narrow passage or if the creature were merely huddled up together. When he had went behind the rushing water, the Azure Knight found a large space but no light which would radiate off of the creatures.
Instead, there was a tree and a small pool surrounding it. As he approached the water, Siegfried looked down at the water and saw the water was clear and the brightest shade of blue. As if untouched by man and protected by nature, the water remained pure and clean beside this strange tree that somehow grew in this small cave In fact, the water looked almost drinkable but Siegfried chose not to drink any fresh body of water.
He was too far cautious to repeat the mistake of seemingly clean water.
That and Siegfried had to remember that this was all in his head.
"Maybe I'm confusing locations." Siegfried said to himself.
Perhaps this was his mind having short term memory loss. That this tree and pool were all fragments of a familiar location being mixed up with the Valley of the End. Then again, it could be another metaphor for peace and tranquility.
However, as Siegfried prepared to leave having forgotten his reason for entering this small cave. He noticed water dripping from the ceiling. Once it hit the clean pool, the water began to ripple as it followed the laws of motion. While the ripple did distort the reflection, it actually did subtly change the image of the man. Siegfried realized that his reflection now had whisker marks and bright blue eyes.
Then the ripple started to change the imagery again. Almost feeling familiar, Siegfried could see an image of himself in a cave with a giant boulder hurdling towards him. Siegfried immediately jumped out of the way as a real boulder tried to crush him. However, the threats didn't end there as Siegfried felt the entire ground shake as if a tremor had been going on. The Azure Knight immediately started preparing to run, but before he left the cave. Siegfried looked back at the body of water and quickly scooped some up in a small bottle attached to his belt.
Not even thinking about what he did for more than a second. Siegfried ran out of the cave before it collapsed. When Siegfried came out by jumping through the waterfall. Siegfried looked around as he no longer felt the tremors anymore.
"I know dreams mess with my sense of logic, but I think now is a good time to leave." Siegfried said as he looked at the bottle. "I guess the water was so pretty, I just had to have it." he said feeling childish.
"The time of childhood ends." said a dead voice.
Siegfried looked around before noticing a figure standing at the top. The Azure Knight saw a peculiar man with messy black hair, dark clothes, black boots, a purple sash hanging over his shoulders and a cane with a decorative skull for a grip. Siegfried almost wanted to tell the man that he's in the wrong place because the nearest Hot Topic is nowhere near here.
That's when he felt a wave of darkness heading towards his way. Without having time as to have a reaction, the wave of darkness surrounded Naruto and made the entire plant life surrounding the Valley of the End dry up and die. As if the magic that the man used had been to wipe out life all around him.
"It is done, the nuisance is over." the man said as he turned to leave.
Only to turn back around again as he raised up his cane. Where he quickly found Siegfried bringing down a sword covered in heavy flames onto him. The man looked genuinely surprised, as if he has just witnessed the impossible. Like a myth turned reality, the dark haired man looked up as he saw Siegfried slowly being coated with flames as a different dark shadow started to envelope his body.

"You should have stayed in the afterlife, pagan." said the voice of Nightmare as the dark haired man skidded away. "Now you brought upon your own death, Ankhseram." Nightmare said as he stepped out from the darkness.
The dark haired man, revealed to be the Death God of Mildian, looked back at Nightmare with a straight face. The deity quickly composed himself as he gripped the skull accessory of his cain. Where he extended his hand towards Nightmare and enveloped him in black fire in an attempt to end his existence.
"Begone, I have no patience for demonic spirits." Ankhseram said only to see Nightmare charging at him on an ethereal horse.
"Like me, humanity has created you!" Nightmare yelled as swings Soul Edge at Ankhseram.
"Palmyra." Ankhseram said as his left hand began to vibrate.
Ankhseram raised up his left hand and blocked the demonic sword. Soul Edge's eye widened as it stared at Ankhseram's cold emotionless face. Ankhseram proceeded to perform the same technique into his right hand and attempted to stab the sword right in the eye. Instead, Nightmare grabbed the arm and attempted to crush it despite the dangerous vibrations making his enormous hand feel as if it were about to explode.
Feeling like an ordinary person who touched burning steel for over a minute, Nightmare used his strength and speed to throw Ankhseram across the canyon. Ankhseram landed on his two feet with little difficulty while Nightmare shook his hand. Where he snarled at the fact that he had been injured for the first time.
"I was being generous. Allowing you to pass away during your sleep. No harm, no fear and no suffering." Ankhseram said as he cracked his neck. "This was my only act of mercy towards a mortal. It will never happen again." he said as he raised his staff.
Nightmare charged at Ankhseram while on horseback and as he tried swinging at the death god. Ankhseram continued to block each attack with his staff and tried destroying the ground under them. Only for Nightmare's ethereal steed to jump high into the air and away from danger.
"That spirit is as much as a nuisance as you Uzumaki. Your second lifetime is already a violation of my laws." Ankhseram said. "Though, it's the fault of that sage." he said referring to Hagoromo.
Nightmare growled, "You control nothing." he said as he made the world around them shake.
"More petty tricks." Ankhseram without a care.
The Ethereal Chaos
Nightmare's armor shattered and from out of it came Inferno. The demonic flaming spirit roared as Ankhseram found himself staggering back. Inferno surrounded the battleground in pinkish flames as it generated weapons to assist it in battle.
"I was expecting either version of Uzumaki. I see you could not handle being destroyed as well." Ankhseram said as he dropped his jacket and sash onto the floor.
Inferno roared as it unleashed a giant torrent of flames towards Ankhseram. As the flames were powered enough to destroy the stone ground, Ankhseram stood his ground and raised his staff. Triggering a powerful vibration as he attempted to block the scorching flames. Inferno only added more pressure to the mix as it slowly walked towards Anksheram. Only to be pushed back as it's flames were countered by a giant dark sphere.
Inferno screamed out in rage just as Ankhseram suddenly appeared right in front of him.
"Sorath Tau!" Ankhseram shouts as he thrusts his cane at Inferno who attempted to block it with Soul Edge.
However, this generated a powerful wave of vibrations at Inferno. Causing it to bounce around the battlefield as the vibrations were too fast to avoid and too difficult to block in such a small space. When the attack was over, Inferno crashed hard into the ground with Ankhseram standing over it.
"Repent." Ankhseram said after surrounding himself with his trademark black aura.
However, just as the powerful attack was about to take place. Inferno disappeared and reappeared above Ankhseram as it attempted to decapitate him with Soul Edge. Ankhseram adjusted his aim and unleashed the attack, but was a second too late. As Inferno's next attack created a giant explosion that collided with Repent. Resulting in both fighters skidding away from each other. Once recovered, the two charged at each other again with Ankhseram taking the first three swings at the demonic spirit.
However, when those failed, Inferno fought back and broke Ankhseram's guard and causing him to stagger backwards. Inferno took this opportunity to slash upwards, causing Ankseram to fly into the air where Inferno jumped up high to join him. Only to release a powerful explosive wave to make the god fly even higher. Before latching onto him and spinning him wildly back towards the ground.
'Such a nuisance, I can almost see why Hephaestus wants this spirit and sword destroyed.' Anksheram thought as he attempted to use another technique to kill Inferno.
Only to find himself being stabbed with Soul Edge just as he hit the ground. With the entire Ethereal Chaos being shaken by the amount of chaos magic that Inferno unleashed into that attack. Ankhseram actually started to choke as he felt the dangerous energy leaking from Inferno just as the spirit ripped out the sword from his chest. Then being kicked hard across the ground and stopping by the edge that lead to the endless pit.
"I have made a mistake. Believing I could just wipe away whatever came across my path with a mere flick of my wrist." Ankhseram said as he slowly stood up. "It appears, that I need to remember my duty. As well as finish it after I remove you from this world Inferno." he said as he was surrounded by an even larger amount of black magic.
Inferno screeched at Ankhseram as it generated the most amount of deadly aura it could muster without the use of Soul Calibur. But that wasn't his only power.
"Susanoo!" Inferno managed to screech out.
When a gigantic pinkish-red armored titan surrounded Inferno as it stood over Ankhseram who looked like an ant to him. Even with some of his black magic arts, Ankhseram could only scratch and create small cracks onto Inferno's version of the Susanoo armor.
With Siegfried
Siegfried was struggling to breath and move as he floated across the Astral Chaos. Feeling helpless and incapable of doing anything. Only feeling emptiness and fear as he could hear the shockwaves caused by the two fighters in the distance. Feeling as if the two were attempting to rip apart the world and the worst part, this was just a fragment of his mind that moved into the spirit of the cursed swords.
Siegfried was unsure what he should really feel. Fear, disgust, confusion… it was impossible to tell. Not since being possessed by Soul Edge did he feel this amount of horror and anxiety. As if Siegfried had to vomit but had no mouth and his intestines refused to release the bile. Perhaps it was a punishment meant to torture him for his actions.
Whatever it was, it seemed like he seemingly deserved it. However, before Siegfried could feel any real pain. He felt a pair of arms grabbing on him and pulling him away. Siegfried grunted as he attempted to move his eyes as he saw a figure surrounded by a golden aura move him.
"Hey, don't tell me you're scared. We're the toughest guy you know." said a familiar voice.
"Naruto." Siegfried muttered.
"That's our name."
Elsewhere
Siegfried found himself able to move and breath properly. As he moved around in this white space he was now trapped in. Siegfried found a familiar face wearing orange.
"Hey, what took you so long?" Naruto asked.
"Naruto, where are we?" Siegfried asked.
"I think it's obvious. You need to take back what belongs to you." Naruto said as he radiated with energy.
Siegfried took a step back and shook his head, "No, that's not happening." he said. "You're not going to disappear." he said.
"It's bound to happen Sieg." Naruto said as his aura started to leave his body.
Siegfried moved around as if he were dodging an attack. As the golden energy started to surround him, but he wanted nothing of it. Like a disease, Siegfried tried his best to avoid it. The man was in denial and could not prevent the inevitable.

"I can't accept it. I'm can't make you disappear." Siegfried said. "Laxus was right, I was just a parasite. I was a doomed baby in an sickly woman." he said.
Feeling that sense of despair, Siegfried collapsed onto hit butt. All the while trying to mentally surprise the golden aura that surrounded him. Naruto placed a hand onto his counterpart's head.
"You're not a parasite Sieg, you just got a lot of bad luck." Naruto said as he gave his other self a bright smile. "But luck changes and you must too." he said.
Naruto used his remaining strength to lift himself up from the ground. All the while several figures moved in the background.
"Deep down Sieg, the new generation learns from the past. We're all different people in a way, we all change." Naruto continued to say. "We grow up, become different people all throughout our lives. That's okay, that's cool right? You gotta keep moving forward as long as you remember all the people who helped you grow along the way." he said.
"But you changed the world." Siegfried said.
Naruto scoffed, "You did, it's your story. It still is. You can't give up, what are you so afraid of Sieg?" he asked.
"I can't fight, I'm losing control. Right now, there's a war between Ishgar's God of Death and Inferno." Siegfried replied.
"And we haven't fought crazy things before?" Naruto asked with a chuckle.
"This is different." Siegfried countered.
"Sieg, I think you're forgetting yourself again. I thought Erza was supposed to be the absent minded one." Naruto said. "Whether it was some goddess or some upstart chunin, Naruto doesn't run from a fight." he said as he extended his fist.
Siegfried wanted to argue, but he was right. He was doubting himself. It was stupid according to his realistic personality, but damn it… a part of the Azure Knight felt stupid by using the excuse of feeling weak and helpless. Still, his mind was conflicted but his body did the talking and responded by connecting his fist with Naruto's fist. With the fist bump completed, the rest of Naruto's chakra went into Siegfried.
Leaving only one individual behind in the white space. The last one left smiled as tears fell down his cheeks. He looked up at the infinite white space as it slowly darkened.
"This isn't goodbye…" he said.

Back to the fight
As the two sentients continued to battle it out. They were blindsided by a bright light as he came out.
"What is this? Another machination of yours spirit?" Ankhseram asked suspiciously as he pushed Inferno away.
Inferno roared at Ankhseram and the figure who floated out of the light. Before Inferno could do anything, the fires that created Inferno's body started to dissipate. As the spirit tried to fight to keep it's presence, Soul Edge collapsed onto the floor.
Upon seeing that his foe defeated, Ankhseram raised his cane at his target and unleashed his power.
"Dark Blast Inferno: One Ultimate." Ankhseram said as he dashed at a blinding speed.
However, just as his powerful spell was about to make contact. He hit an invisible barrier that left him unable to hurt his intended target. The target smiled and flicked Ankhseram's forehead, causing him to stumble back.
"What? Impossible." Ankhseram said, at a loss of words. "Who are you?" he asked, refusing to believe this was an ordinary mortal.
"I'm just Naruto and I'm alive regardless of your opinion. How about you go back to the land of dead before you embarrass yourself pagan. You already broke too many rules today." Naruto replied.
"Your existence is a violation of the laws of the living." Ankhseram shot back as he surrounded himself in another black aura.
Naruto made a thinking pose, "Maybe, but that's on you for screwing up. Actually, I belong in another pantheon or something like that, is that out his works?" he asked.
By that point, Ankhseram tried striking him again only to hit the same barrier. That's when he felt a tug on his shoulder.
"I think someone is here to pick a fight with you." Naruto said as Ankhseram turned his head.
Looking back, Ankhseram saw that he was being pulled away by a woman with a face that exposed half of her skull. Just as Ankhseram was about to pull away, he was dragged through a portal.
Naruto suddenly looked terrifed, "I can't believe that actually worked. I was lucky that Inferno went full power and just happened to hate pagan gods." he said. "Now, how do I get out of here?" he asked.
In reality
Filo slowly woke up to the sight of bright flashing lights, "Papa?" she asked.
Suddenly, Naruto stood over Filo, "Filo!" he cheered as he picked up his daughter. "Rise and shine Filo-chan!" he said.
Filo yawned, "Ten more minutes papa." she said.
"Nope, we can't put off until tomorrow for what we can get done today. First step, breakfast!" Naruto said as he ran out of his room.
"Papa, slow down!" Filo shouted.
"Sorry Filo!" Naruto said as he safely landed on his feet. "Hey, you wanna hear a song I made up? Mama Mira secretly likes my music." he asked.
"Okay!" Filo replied.
Naruto jumped over the counter and started working on breakfast for his daughter. At the same time, Kinana was already opening up the doors to open the guild up for another day. When she stopped to hear Naruto's voice.
"If you're evil and you're on the rise. You can count on all of us to take you down. Because evil never beats us, we'll win the fight and go out for ramen." Naruto sang. "We… are the Fairy Tail guild. We always save the day. If you think we can't, we always find a way." he continued to sing as he put down a plate for Filo.
Kinana smiled as she kept quietly listening to the song.
"That's why the people of Fiore believe in… Naruto, Mira, Erza and Filo!" Naruto said as Filo started giggling.
By this point, Siegfried made several clones and started setting up the guild. As he continued singing his song, he briefly removed his shirt. With his back exposed, one of the clones started cleaning off the cross over his guild sigil. Filo saw this and clapped while Kinana went wide eyed. She didn't know entirely what was going on, but thought this was something important and kept quiet until she thought it was a good idea to enter the guild.
Being so distracted, Kinana never noticed Kurama, Shukaku and a few guild members already showing up. All of them were about to enter when they saw Naruto moving around to set up the guild.
"The odds are against, this won't be easy but we're not going to do this alone." Naruto sang.
Then Filo jumped in, "We are the Fairy Tail Guild. We'll always save the day!" she sang.
"And if you think we can't!"
"We'll always find a way!"
Then the duo sang together, "That's why the people of Fiore believe in… Naruto, Mira, Erza and Filo!" the finished.
"Maybe Kinana too if she and everyone else stop staring at us like perverts!" Naruto exclaimed as he points at the door.
Kinana blushed as she opened the door, "Sorry!" she said as everyone came in.
"Papa, you have crazy eyes." Filo suddenly said.
"Crazy eyes?" Naruto asked.
"Yeah, they're all purple and swirly. Is that why you're acting funny?" Filo asked.
Naruto picked up a glass from the counter and tried to look at his reflection. The man frowned and looked around for Kurama who took his seat at a table. Naruto proceeded to bother the fox by pointing at his eyes.
"We have a major problem." Naruto said.
Kurama suddenly felt like he aged another 1000 years, "What did you do, you dumb ass?" he asked.

Kurama growled at his brother, "Those are father's eyes you idiot! Don't you recognize the Rinnegan?" He asked angrily.

Naruto proceeded to dump hot water onto Shukaku, "Look what you did! First Wendy, now Filo!" he yelled angrily.

Question #1 (Guest): Who has the strongest hatred? Siegfried and his hatred towards dark mages or Hirohiko Araki and his hatred towards dogs?
Naruto: My hate for dark mages looks like a child hating vegetables. Araki's hatred towards dogs is like Albedo's hatred towards humans.
Question #2 (Curious Fan): How big is Siegfried? Is he big like Gildarts and Laxus? If that's the case, how do Natsu and Gray feel about the old 'runt' they bullied being bigger than they are now? And both Erza and Mirajane? How do they feel having to look up to talk to Siegfried?
Naruto: I'm about six feet tall or about 1.83 meters. Laxus and Gildarts are taller than me about an inch or two. Natsu never learns, Gray feels pathetic and… I don't talk about the girls. My height isn't the only thing they've seen… stupid perverts.
