Chapter 31: Meeting With a Devil
- Akeno Himejima -
Akeno watched in surprise, as Mars electrocuted Freed and Dohnaseek.
"KRRRK!" the fallen angel scum convulsed in a pathetic agony as every muscle in his body spasmed wildly.
Bracing herself, she quickly realized Mars had no interest in harming her, instead he was laser focused on making sure the fallen angel and the stray exorcist Freed felt as much electric pain as possible.
She was confused, how was this even happening? The unique skillset of creating holy lightning should only be reserved for her or that man she had too many fixed feelings about, Baraqiel. Well her father, or any of his children...
Akeno studied the shadow-winged man in front of her a lot more closely now, wondering just who the hell Mars' father was. With his tan skin and blond hair, she would have sooner guessed he was Azazel's kid, the Governor General of the Grigori was infamous for having hundreds of harems over the millennia.
Surely one of Azazel's many women fathered him a child, as Vali Lucifer was his only child by surrogate. It was odd to think the perverted Azazel didn't have a single birth child, even by accident.
While physically, she didn't resemble Mars at all, the twisted smile on his face as he cruelly shocked the two other weaklings with no mercy was practically a mirror image. She of all people could recognize a fellow sadist. Mars could have easily killed the two at anytime, obviously preferring to inflict suffering instead of a quick mercy kill.
Mars eventually stopped, right at their mortal limits, before he conjured a dagger made of holy light in his left hand and an identical, but shadow black one in his right hand. Without any hesitation he shot forward the golden dagger towards the fallen angel, the weapon accelerated like a bullet, the fedora and about an inch of his head cleanly sliced off in one swipe.
"Ugh, w-wait a second!" the barely conscious Freed begged for his life, the sudden death of the fallen angel a very real warning his life is in Mars' hands now.
"What was it you said just a moment ago, you were going to disembowel her?" Mars calmly asked him, standing over the prone Freed while the shadow black dagger floated an inch over his exposed stomach. "Or do you want to have some fun first?"
Akeno saw no reason to interrupt the brutal scene, she was a millisecond away from wiping out the two unholy beings with her devil magic. She could tell Mars was enjoying this, there was no doubt he was definitely the same as her, they both had a very vigorous bloodlust.
"Y-you bastard, who a-are you?" Freed spat out with hate in his eyes, coming to the realization that Mars was just toying around with him before Mars was going to snuff his life out.
"Mars Valentino, half fallen mage. But don't you worry, Freed. You and Dohnaseek will make for fine soldiers," Mars said with a smile, before he effortlessly motioned with his finger, the hovering dagger cutting through Freed's flesh with a well practiced precision.
Mars kept a close watch on the disemboweled Freed, waiting until the life went out in Freed's eyes.
"Sorry about that, Himejima-san. Or would you prefer if I acknowledge you as Miss Gremory's Queen, instead?" he cleared his throat, as he stretched his wings nonchalantly.
He kept his exposed back to her, his two black wings proudly out on display, as if he wasn't worried about her attacking him at all. It was obvious killing wasn't an issue for him, he didn't appear fazed whatsoever after ending two lives. Akeno certainly had no love lost for any of the Grigori.
But the way Mars casually brought up Rias' true identity like it was no secret only added more questions she wanted to ask him.
"Mars...You're half fallen?" Akeno kept her guard up, unsure of Mars' true allegiance. "Are you working for the Grigori?!"
"Aha, even after all that, you still think I'm working for those Grigori bastards?" Mars chuckled, finally looking into her eyes with a piercing gaze. "To be honest, I just met those fallen last night. Of course, I had to put them in their place, but I didn't account for that freak Freed Sellzen, I'm just as surprised as you are when he appeared. Regarding the fallen, there shouldn't be any more issues coming from this weak group, so Miss Gremory and Sitri should be fine for now."
Akeno was silent after that, a hundred thoughts racing in her mind. Looking at the smug Mars, it's like he can detect her thoughts, he clearly knows a lot more than he's saying. She wondered what his powers were exactly, seeing how easily Mars dispatched the two low level grunts. It was hard to gauge his true power, but for a two-winged fallen he seemed unnaturally strong.
Was it whatever Sacred Gear he possessed? Her King Rias wanted to know about every Sacred Gear user in town, as she was always on the lookout for any potential peerage members.
It was a shame about Hyoudou, but a Twice Critical wasn't too big of a loss in comparison to many other promising miracles from God. Which only begged the question, what Sacred Gear did the half human Mars possess?
"Why are you really here? If you know so much about the supernatural, I doubt you're here just to be a student," she concluded Mars had to have an agenda of some sort, there's no way someone like this would be joining Kuoh Academy by sheer coincidence.
"I'm here to get stronger," Mars answered rather easily, a charming smile on his face. "To that end, I was actually hoping to meet with both of the devil princesses here in town. I'm a magician, as you can see, so naturally I'm quite interested in forming a potential contract with two of the most promising young devils from the Underworld. I really hope the fact I'm half fallen isn't an issue for the Gremory clan, I had heard they are one of most accepting of the noble families."
"I..." Akeno bit her lip, unsure of what to say in this situation.
Personal feelings about fallen angels aside, she would be a fool to let a natural talent like Mars slip out of Rias' hands, as Sona would certainly do whatever it takes if it means adding a powerful new peerage piece. And from what she's seen of Mars so far, she might not blindly hate him for his fallen nature, since he was only half, just like her.
"Mars-sama!" a new, sultry voice from the church interrupted her thoughts.
Akeno felt her sense of danger throb in alert, when a four-winged fallen suddenly appeared by Mars' side. But what surprised her even more was when the raven-haired fallen dropped down to both knees, carefully kissing Mars' hand like he was her creator.
"Raynare," Mars simply nodded in greeting, turning his attention to the submissive woman.
Something was odd, why would a higher ranked fallen yield so much to a hybrid magician with only a single pair of wings? Of the three factions, fallen angels had the lowest numbers, as they mostly relied on tempting pure angels to fall, most of them falling for the temptations of lust. Half fallen human hybrids were rare to find, as many fallen looked down on half bloods.
Maybe Mars really was Azazel's kid? She doubted the horny ancient fallen angel used protection with all the human women he's slept with.
"Who's this filthy devil half breed?" Raynare scoffed at Akeno with a tangible disgust in her eyes, clearly not a big fan of devils. "Do you need me get rid of the garbage for you?"
"Don't even think about it, no more starting any shit with the devils in town," Mars ordered Raynare sternly, the barely clad fallen immediately submitting to him. "This is my guest, Himejima Akeno, and you will treat her with respect."
"Yes of course, Mars-sama!" Raynare prostrated, it disturbed Akeno with how devoted she was to him.
Any hostile energy Raynare held towards her disappeared instantly, Mars wasn't kidding when he said he put them in their place.
"About what we were discussing, it would be great if you could pass on my request to your king," he cleared his throat once again, peering deep into her eyes like he was searching for all of her secrets. "I won't be returning to school today, I have a couple of important things to work on."
Feeling the need to report back to Rias on everything that just happened, Akeno nodded to him, casting a devil teleportation spell back to the Occult Research Club.
She certainly didn't expect her day to go like this, Mars triggered a bunch of suppressed feelings she didn't realize she was holding on to, specifically regarding her fallen nature. If someone told her she actually wanted to get to know another fallen just after a single meeting she would have called them crazy, as she held an almost blind hatred for fallen in her heart.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Akeno," Mars waved her farewell, before he started to walk back to the abandoned church with Raynare by his side.
- Mars -
Waiting until Akeno and all traces of any devil magic have cleared the area, I sigh out in relief.
"Is something wrong?" Raynare asked me in genuine concern.
"Everything's fine. It went well, all things considered," I shrug, pointing at the two dead members of her group. "You don't have any comments on me killing those two grunts?"
"If they did something foolish enough to draw your ire, then they deserved it," Raynare said rather bluntly, not even giving the two a second thought.
"Heh, that's good to hear," I chuckle, ready to blow her mind once again. "Let me show you something, Raynare."
As I walk back up to the two corpses, she looks at me in confusion.
There's a tense silence in the air, I can feel her fanatical gaze on me, feeling the temperature drop as I focus on the dormant mana within each of their bodies.
"Arise," I utter out, resurrecting my first new shadow soldiers since arriving in this new universe.
Dohnaseek and Freed's respective shadows crawl free from their dead bodies, as I thoroughly study my first ever fallen angel and exorcist shadows. Both of them are quite weak compared to my main soldiers, but they were still upgraded after becoming revived by a fully fledged Shadow Monarch.
The two new shadow soldiers each drop down to a knee, each looking more powerful now than when they were alive.
"Oh my God..." Raynare whispered out in abject terror, feeling a sharp headache for invoking the deceased big G's name.
Dohnaseek's new shadow powerup is evident right away, thanks to the second pair of shadow wings on his back. He still has his signature fedora, even as a summon, and retains all of his light-based powers he did when he was alive, but with the added touch of my [Holy Lightning].
Freed on the other hand is already admiring his new strength, his sword and gun still attached to his hip. Now that he's a shadow soldier Freed reminds me a lot like Kang Taeshik, I can already see the two psychopaths getting along well.
"This is my true power, Raynare," I absorb the two back into my shadow, wondering who else in the DxD world will join my growing legion. "You have made the right choice to follow me, otherwise you would have just ended up like Dohnaseek here."
"I will not let you down, Master!" she fully prostrated once again, not daring to look me in the eye as I feel her reverence for me increase tenfold.
"Good. And you'll start right now. Tell me everything you know about the holy maiden, Asia Argento."

Entering the club room after receiving an urgent message from Akeno, Rias found her Queen slumped on the couch in deep thought. The worried look on her face was serious for once, something completely different from the usual elegant mask she put on every day.
"Akeno, what happened? Are you okay?" Rias sat down next to her on the sofa, she viewed Akeno as a best friend and sister before she would as a mere peerage member.
"Rias..." her Queen hesitated, as if she didn't know what to say. "Valentino Mars, he's... He's like me. He's a fallen angel-human hybrid."
"How is that possible?" she questioned Akeno, concerned as she knew full well how her best friend felt about fallen.
"I don't know... But he can use holy lightning," Akeno said with wide eyes, a bit shaken from her unexpected confrontation with Mars.
"Huh?!" Rias was perplexed, understanding why Akeno might be feeling a certain way now. "Tell me everything that happened!"
As Akeno repeated exactly what happened with Mars during lunch, Rias wondered why he was here now. Something about the situation felt off, like something big was going to go down soon.
When Sona and her observed the fallen activity right outside of town, they never once encountered any four-winged fallen, was the Grigori scheming, sending reinforcements? Or was this all related to Mars, the half fallen mage from Italy?
One thing was certain in her mind, she wanted to meet with Mars right away, knowing promising magicians willing to form a pact with devils don't exactly grow on trees. The fact he had a draconic Sacred Gear made her feel even more desperate, she wouldn't forgive herself if Mars ended up making a deal with Sona, instead.
"You need to convince him to join the peerage," Akeno concluded, much more calm after confiding in her. "I need to see him again... I never asked him who his parents were."
The clearly impatient Akeno stood up, already activating her teleportation circle, not wanting to wait until tomorrow to talk to him. It was definitely out of character for her, who seemingly never had any interest in any guys, but it's obviously different if she met another half fallen.
"Let's go together then," Rias joined her, wanting to finally meet Mars as well.
As soon as they arrived near the abandoned church, both devils knew something was wrong. The smell of blood in the air was thick, any supernatural with enhanced senses would be able to tell a massacre just occurred here.
Wordlessly, Akeno charged forward, following the stench of gore, blasting open the doors open with a holy lightning blast.
Rias was temporarily stunned as Akeno never used her inner fallen power, usually opting to use her demonic power instead.
Once Rias joined Akeno inside the desecrated church, she stopped dead in her tracks, staring at the gruesome scene in front of her.
Rows of killed excommunicated exorcists, and by the looks of it, executed as they have all been beheaded with vicious precision.
"What the hell happened here?!" she said aloud, looking at Akeno with worried eyes.
"A fallen did this, the holy light aura is fresh, this just happened minutes ago," Akeno noted, looking around the trashed church for clues.
"Why would the fallen kill their minions? Was it Mars?" Rias asked her, letting Akeno take the lead.
"No... It was that bitch," she answered, walking up to the hidden staircase underneath the altar. "I hear noises down there."
Without wasting anymore time, the two devils descended into the concealed basement, multiple groans of pain could be heard more clearly.
Neither of the two devils could have expected what they saw next, walking in on Mars roughly fucking three fallen angels.
Both Rias and Akeno froze in place, unable to look away with a healthy blush on their faces. They observed as Mars held up the blonde fallen, her gothic outfit ripped open. He was drilling her relentlessly, without any regard for her wellbeing. She lasted barely a minute, screaming aloud in pain and pleasure, before Mars threw her onto the ground.
The four-winged fallen that Akeno mentioned earlier immediately began to suck his dick clean, before she bent over, letting Mars continue with her. He seemed to be even more forceful with the stronger fallen, grabbing her wings as he pumped deep much to her pleasure.
"W-who are you?!" the taller blue-haired fallen suddenly shouted out, she was naked on a recliner with juices flowing down her legs.
The four fallen look towards the caught devils, a brief awkward silence playing out until Mars continued to smash the busty fallen, smiling at the two devils. The other two fallen created two holy light spears, ready to launch an attack at them on Mars' command.
"Stand down, they're my classmates," Mars nodded his head to the two as if he knew they were there the whole time. "Sorry you two, I'm just about finished here."
The briefly hostile fallen let their weapons dissipate, putting their clothes back on.
Mars conjured holy lightning in his right hand, smacking the four-winged fallen on her ass harshly as they both climaxed. The look on the slutty fallen's face was one of masochistic bliss, feeling a strong orgasm while being shocked by Mars' powers.
After finishing, the very naked Mars wiped the sweat from his brow before he approached the two devils.
The two couldn't help but stare at his chiseled body, clearly not ashamed of being bare in front of the two most sought after girls in the academy. Looking more closely at his muscles, she knew right away Mars was an experienced warrior, as only being in dozens of battles could produce a physique like that.
"Akeno, I didn't expect to see you again today," he gave her Queen a bright smile, not making a single effort to cover himself up. "Miss Gremory, it's good to meet you."
The confident Mars chuckled to himself, obviously amused with making the two uncomfortable.
"Ah, right. It's good to meet you, officially, Valentino-san," Rias composed herself, bowing to Mars.
As heir to the Gremory clan, she knew how to conduct herself as the royalty she truly was.
"Please, just Mars is fine," he said casually. "So, what brings you both here? I hope it isn't an extermination mission..."
"No, it's nothing like that, Mars. We just wanted to speak with you," Rias returned his smile, trying her best not to let her gaze wander down. "But first, what happened to the exorcists upstairs?"
"Oh yeah, those guys? Raynare here killed them all," Mars revealed, shrugging as Raynare handed him his school uniform. "They were originally trying to start some trouble here in Kuoh, but I wouldn't worry about it. They've been re-educated. What did you want to talk about?"
"How about we discuss this somewhere more appropriate?" Rias answered, not liking the unholy aura in the basement.
- Mars -
Following Rias and Akeno to their club building, I order the three remaining fallen angels to remain in the church.
I'm more than happy to return to campus, as I've already sent Igris to bring the resurrected Issei back home, there should be zero connection between Issei and I.
My two classmates came at a perfect time, having just missed me revive the group of exorcists as shadow soldiers, joining Dohnaseek and Freed. The reality is if I have any use for them it'll be as shadows rather than excommunicated exorcists.
They haven't said much during the trip, it must have been shocking for them to walk in on a fallen angel orgy, they are quite innocent for devils. As I get to know them and help them with their upcoming issues, I suspect they'll be more than willing to join me in bed in near future, especially Akeno.
She doesn't seem to have a huge problem with my fallen side, I guess she thinks we're connected somehow, thanks to my lightning.
Arriving to their base of operations, the once abandoned dormitory is a pretty huge, but I suppose Rias has a ton of special privileges compared to the majority of the normal students here in the academy.
Entering the candle-lit room, Rias gestures for me to sit on the green couch.
"Akeno, if you would make some tea for us please?" the Gremory princess asked Akeno with a pretty smile on her face, before she took a seat on the couch in front of me.
"Of course, Rias," she bowed politely to her king, heading deeper inside to another room, leaving me alone with Rias.
"Is it okay if I start?" I pause, continuing when Rias nods her head. "Obviously, I'm no stranger to the supernatural or the Underworld. I know exactly who you and Miss Sitri are, the little sisters of two of the Great Satans, Sirzechs Lucifer and Serafall Leviathan. More importantly, I know the pickle you find yourself in, currently engaged to one of the Phenex sons. Riser, right? I heard he's quite the prick."
Rias is quiet for a moment, not expecting me to bring up her engagement first thing.
"Touchy subject I imagine? I'm not surprised, political and loveless marriages rarely work out for both parties," I continue, suppressing the grin on my face. "And this is where I come in. I'm sure Akeno mentioned to you I'm a magician? I'd be happy to discuss forming a potential pact with you."
"Is that so?" she bit her lip in deep thought, seriously considering my words. "Tell me then, you'd help me break off my engagement with Riser?"
"Exactly," I quickly answer, knowing full well she badly needs help if she wants to stand a chance against Riser and his peerage, especially now that Issei is off the board. "Let me guess, the only way you can be free of him is by defeating him in a Rating Game? If I'm on your side, I'll be able to take his whole peerage on by myself."
"You seem very confident. His peerage is quite strong, and his trump card Phenex regeneration can even counter my own powers of Destruction," Rias noted with a grim look on her face. "Why do you want to form a pact with me?"
"I understand your doubt, but believe me, I can do it," I smirk, ready to blow her mind. "As to why I want to officially form a pact with you, well I have a couple reasons. I'm new in town, and the protection and notoriety I'll get from being associated with the famous Gremory clan is obvious. And honestly, I think you're beautiful, how could I not want to get more comfortable with the Princess of Destruction?"
"Wh-what?!" Rias face matched her crimson hair, surprised when I hit on her out of nowhere.
"Heh, sorry, but I'm serious. I've been at the school for less than a day but I heard your name come up at least a dozen times, multiple people called you the Madonna of Kuoh Academy~" I continue to tease the third year, remembering she's just as innocent as Esil was, despite being a princess among devils. "How about this, let me challenge your whole peerage in an unofficial mock Rating Game. If I win, we form a pact, where I'm sure we can find terms that will satisfy both of us. If I lose... If I lose, I'll join your peerage."
Before Rias could respond to my sudden proposal, the rest of Rias' peerage led by Akeno walk into the room, all having heard my bet clearly.

"AAAAAH!" the leader of the perverted trio shot up from his bed, soaked in sweat as he had the weirdest dream ever.
He looked around his room, feeling a headache as he doesn't remember how he got there.
Issei swore as he tried his best to recollect the dream he had, the only memory he could recall was being on a date with a pretty girl.
"Yuuma-chan?" he said more confused than anything, before the door in his room burst open.
His mom practically jumped onto the bed, bringing him close for a hug, before she slapped him across the face.
"You idiot!" Issei's mother yelled at him, going on about how he never came home last night, forcing him even closer for another tight bearhug.

Staring out the plane window with innocent eyes, Asia hoped she could have a fresh start in Japan. She couldn't believe it, one day she was one of the church's symbolic Holy Maidens, and now she was excommunicated by the Vatican.
How could her miracle from God, Twilight Healing, ever be used maliciously? She simply healed anyone and everyone she could, how could they call her a witch? Asia didn't know she could even use her holy powers on devils in the first place. She hadn't even met a devil, prior to the accident leading to her banishment.
She still had faith, however, hoping if she could help the exorcists who requested her, she might be let back into the church. The fact she didn't know a word of Japanese worried her, how difficult would it be for an Italian to learn Japanese?
Whatever her future would be, she remained hopeful it was all part of God's plan, where she would one day be seen as a Holy Maiden once again.
Long af AN: It's been a while, I hope everyone had a good new year. New semester so I gotta find time to procrastinate and write this fic instead of any schoolwork.
A dialogue heavy chapter, hopefully it makes sense coming back, I just re-read the end of last chapter (30) and wrote what should have happened after. I have a very loose plan of events happening in Kuoh, so I'm starting with a cliche awakening/arrival arc similar to how the original SL verse learned who Jinwoo is.

Now that Mars is in DxD expect Cerberus to get some love, will eventually grow up to be the same size as the gatekeeper of the demon castle
Looking back I think I nerfed the Ruler/Monarch levels a bit. Basically the way I see it in the DxD verse and SL verse the only non-Shadow Monarch worth a fuck is Antares and his dragons. Although maybe a fully unleashed Legia is overpowered as well, which is why the Rulers captured him instead of the other Monarchs. Meanwhile Ashborn is literally unkillable, he'll just always default to the Eternal Rest, and he only has a few strong shadows that can pose any threat to the DxD verse. The Rulers are strong obviously, but it seems without the Absolute Being they aren't that consequential, I'm pretty sure the sequel to Solo Leveling has Jinwoo fending off an invading alien race of beings much stronger than even Monarch/Ruler level, but I'd have to double check.
Mars is staying relatively low key until he meets big boys like Azazel, Sirzechs and the Satans or any legendary beings like Ophis and the Great Red. Securing protection by means of the Grigori, either of the Satanic factions or Heaven itself, it's all the same to him. Once Mars gets to the point of an all out war in any universe he finds himself in, he'll make sure he's already able to solo any conflict with his shadows Jinwoo-style. I feel like whenever he returns to SL verse, he'll be able to just take care of business rather easily.
I haven't checked out the Solo Leveling anime yet but I saw some stills and heard they did a shit ton of world building that improves the originally bare story, hopefully my shit will hold up to it when they add anime-only changes. But I'm glad they seem to be giving minor(but quite relevant in this fic) characters like Kang Taeshik and Woo Jinchul some love. I'm just waiting until they reach Jinwoo's job change to watch the anime, I want to see an animated Igris and the rest of the shadows fight in the red gate, against bosses like Tank, Baruka, Tusk, Baran, Kaisel, Beru etc. But I think it'll take quite a while for them to reach Jeju or even the Architect arcs, which we're at now before we entered DxD.
