Mother and I treaked through the forest, following the voice North, past the thinning trees and onto the pebbled beach as the sky turned dark. Heavy waves crashed on the shoreline, spraying my face with seawater. Mother and I shared a look. She took off her coat and boots, prompting me to do the same. I was left in my black pants and a workout bra…hey, to quote my Mother, the cold never bothered me. We backed away from the shore, and mentally prepared ourselves. We raced to the water, ice appearing at out feet as we ran. A wave crashed over us and knocked us back to the shore. The next time we tried, we got a little father, climbing onto an outcropping of rock and jumping into the waves from there. Mother tried to create a bridge for us to run across, but the waves toppled that into the water. I gasped in a breath, and looked around, only to be met with the glowing eyes…of a horse. It disappeared, and I swam to the surface, seeing Mother a bit away. I swam up to her. "Did you see that?" I asked.
"The horse? Yes." She replied. She created a small ice patch for us to climb onto, but it was knocked away. The waves crashed into us as if the horse was controlling them. At one point, it shoved it's hooves into Mother and was pushing her down to drown her. I swam after them, grabbing the horse around it's neck and covering it in ice. The ice broke, and the horse disappeared. Mother and I swam back to the surface, gasping in the chilled air once our heads broke the water. We were then thrown into the air, the horse ramming into us. The horse eventually grabbed Mother and I by our wrists and was dragging us through the waves. Mother created a lead and threw it around the horse's muzzle and hauled herself up onto it. She offered a hand down to me, and I grabbed it, pulling myself behind her. I gripped Mother's waist tight to keep myself steady as the horse bucked and tried to throw us off, but Mother kept her grip, and eventually, the horse was tamed, evening out and letting mother lead it through the waters.
"Thank you, Nokk." I said gratefully, gently patting the horse's neck from behind Mother. The horse, Nokk, nickered, as if surprised by my use of his name. The Northuldra had told me before we had left, and I thought it was respectable to call the Spirit by it's true name. In the distance, we could see an island, covered in ice and snow.
"Of course." Mother muttered, "Glaciers are rivers of ice."
"There's Ahtohallan...it's frozen." I breathed. "It's real…" Ah, ah, ah ah…
"We can hear you...we're coming."
Elsa -
Every inch of us is trembling
But not from the cold
Something is familiar
Like a dream, we can reach but not quite hold
Elira -
We can sense you there
Like a friend we've always known
We're arriving
And it feels like we are home
Elsa -
I have always been a fortress
Cold secrets deep inside
Elira -
You have secrets, too
But you don't have to hide
Elsa and Elira -
Show yourself
I'm dying to meet you
Show yourself
It's your turn
Are you the one we've been looking for
All of our lives?
Show yourself
We're ready to learn
Ah ah ah ah (Ah ah ah ah ah)
We're never felt so certain
All our lives we've been torn
But we're here for a reason
Could it be the reason we were born?
We have always been so different
Normal rules did not apply
Is this the day?
Are you the way
We finally find out why?
Show yourself
We're no longer trembling
Here we are
We've come so far
You are the answer We've waited for
All of our lives
Oh, show yourself
Let us see who you are
Come to us now
Open your door
Don't make us wait
One moment more
Oh, come to us now
Open your door
Don't make us wait
One moment more
Spirits (Iduna) -
Where the north wind meets the sea (Ah ah ah ah)
There's a river (Ah ah ah ah)
Full of memory
Iduna -
Come, my darlings, homeward bound
Elsa and Elira -
We are found!
Elsa, Elira and Iduna -
Show yourself
Step into your power
Throw yourself
Into something new
Iduna -
You are the one you've been waiting for
Elsa and Elira (Iduna) -
All of my life (All of your life)
Elsa and Elira -
Oh, show yourself
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
I looked to Mother, now dressed in a pure white gown decorated with small diamonds and a cape that faded into a pale purple. I myself was dressed in a white outfit also. I was wearing an apparent sleeveless romper, with white sheer sleeves that covered my collarbones and my arms, and the same material was attached to my hips like a cape. Much like Mother's outfit, it was decorated with small, colourful diamonds. We smiled at each other, and held each other's hands to make sure we were there. Looking around, we were in an apparent snowscape, memories formed into people that told the history of…everything. I could see my friends, Ben, Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos, and even me, a large dragon, Maleficent, attacking us, our time after the coronation. "Elira, this way." Mother called. I followed her through the lives of Grandpa Angarr and Grandma Iduna, and then a voice caught our attention.
"King Runard, I'm sorry, I don't understand." A soldier was saying. Mother and I turned.
"Grandfather…" We approached the walking statues.
"We bring Arendelle's full guard." Grandpa Runard stated.
"But they have given us no reason not to trust them." His soldier cautioned.
"The Northuldra follow Magic, which means we can never trust them. Magic makes people feel too powerful, too entitled. It makes them think they can defy the will of a King."
"That is not what Magic does." Mother said to the statue, even though it couldn't hear her. "That's just your fear. Fear is what can't be trusted." Grandpa Runard and his soldier walked off and through a wall.
"Well…" I trailed off. "I guess we follow." I waved my hand and opened up the passage through the ice. Mother and I trailed after the ice statues.
"You see, the dam will weaken their lands, so they will have to turn to me." Grandma Runard stated. We entered an ice cavern, which showed the dam that my Grandfather had erected. It was lower than anticipated, and almost fell down into the icy depths. "And then we will know their size and strength. As you have welcomed us, we welcome you, our neighbours, our friends." Mother and I shared a look, and then nodded. We jumped down, and landed in an icy forest. I…felt a chill in the air, and I started to feel cold…this had never happened to me before. Looking down, I saw that my hands were starting to get frosty.
"We're going too far down." I told Mother shakily. "But we have to press on." Mother looked up from her own icy hands and looked at me, nodding.
"King Runard, the dam isn't strengthening our waters." A new voice said. Looking to it, we saw a Northuldra elder talking to Grandpa Runard. "It's hurting the forest. It's cutting off the North-"
"Let's not discuss this here." Grandpa Runard said. "Lets meet on the fjord, have tea, find a solution." I looked around and saw the Elder kneeling in another memory, and I guided Mother's attention to it. We were getting colder by the second, and ice was starting to form over us. I watched in horror, as Grandpa Runard approached the Northuldra Elder with his sword drawn. I went to take a step, but my legs were ice.
"Mother!" I cried. She turned to me, but ice was creeping up her torso.
"Elira!" She wailed. I could feel my neck starting to get cold. My eyes widened in fear…before my world became dark.
