Ask and you shall deliver, my friend!
"So….. you wanna….hot chocolate and chill?", a voice whispered against the shell of her ear, almost making her lose her concentration and fall unceremoniously to the ground, while she was helping put up the garlands. How she had gotten herself roped into helping decorate the North Pole, while North had literally an army of yetis at his disposition, she didn't completely understand.
And she refused to admit to the constant teasing on behalf of the rest of the guardians – especially Sandy, the little traitor – that were not so subtly dropping hints that she just was doing it to spend time with a certain winter spirit.
Who would have thought that the guardians of childhood were such busybodies when it came to match-making.
It wasn't like they were at all wrong…usually when you're in a relationship with someone you tend to want to spend time together. The problem was…their relationship was supposed to remain a secret.
It wasn't because she was ashamed of being with him.
It wasn't even the possible backlash of them being together would generate – not including her dad would throw a fit when he found out.
Mainly it was her being scared: scared that she would mess up, do or say something that would drive him away.
The awful fight with the man who had acted like a foster father to her when she was separated from her family was still in the back of her mind. She had done and said hurtful things, and it had driven Typhan away.
Now she found this wonderful guy who looked at her like she held the world in her hands and was so tremendously sweet and charming, she almost had felt her heart would burst out of her chest when they first met.
Bringing herself back to the present moment, she turned around to find him floating besides her with a cheeky grin and wiggling his eyebrows.
"If you ask me that one more time, I will dump hot chocolate on you." She warned him, trying to ignore her face growing hotter.
"Y'know I'll wear you down by the time the night is over, princess"
She suppressed the pleasant shiver that the pet name always had on her.
The worst part is…he totally could.
"And, hey, I'm just reading what your new sweater says" He draw nearer and kissed her cheek. "Looks amazing by the way"
She looked down at the maroon sweater North had forced her – and basically everybody else at the Pole, guardians included –. This was this year's party theme: ugly/dumb Christmas sweaters.
She had to admit, the old Cossack and the other guardians were getting to her. Making her feel welcomed and inviting her more to spend time with them. It freaked the hell out of her at first, but eventually she understood that they were genuinely interested on having her around.
It actually made her happy that they were secretly supporting their relationship.
Emily Jane looked at Jack and felt her heart swell. Any doubts or lingering fears dissipated more and more every time she looked at that gorgeous smile.
A smirk expanded at the corner of her lips, suddenly feeling emboldened.
The mistletoe that adorned the garland she had just hung burst into full bloom.
Jack looked at and chuckled, his lips now a breath away from hers.
"So, princess, let me ask you again" He whispered. "Wanna hot chocolate and chill?"
She chuckled and grabbed the front of his dumb sweater and pulled him in for a kiss. If he thought he could get the upper hand in making her an utter mess, he had another thing coming his way.
Emily let go of him, enjoying how dumbstruck he looked. She looked at his sweater and the words that had been knit, her eyebrows rising.
"Only if you promise to nip more than just my nose"
