If you're reading this, you might be noticing a distinct lack of choices available in this section of the story, and for good reason too! See, due to recent creative strifes, I've opted to remove the character 'Pelagia' submitted for this story and repurpose this into something different. Lately, I've been getting back into One Piece in preparation for the Final War Saga (which I am so excited for, given how peak Egghead Island has been thus far) and the more I analyze the story, the more amazed I am at how seamlessly Oda is at weaving in twenty-plus years of storytelling and characters into this modern epic of a story. And the more I read, the more inspired I start to become at doing so.
Of course, I'm also a lazy bastard when it comes to creativity, so my idea of 'creativity' essentially boils down to throwing in OC's to the main story and seeing what sticks, lol. Now, not saying that isn't a bad thing! Look at stories like "This Bites!" and "Twelve Red Lines", and you'll see the impact that OC's can have on a story in spectacular fashion. Those stories have inspired me to take to the writing boards yet again, and (hopefully) create something wonderful from this point forward.
Sadly, that will mean that this CYOA will be canceled. However, it's being turned into something I believe is less stifling when it comes to writing. A linear storyline, buuuuuut… with your own characters added to the mix.
That's right. As of now, this story has now become a SYOC, free for you all to submit your own original characters for me to implement into the story based on however I see fit. That may sound a tad condescending, but I don't mean anything by it! I truly want to see what creativity you guys can do with the character creation section. That being said, here are some guidelines you have to follow for this part of the story right now.
We are beginning at the very beginning of One Piece: the East Blue Saga! As we approach each new Saga, you will have a chance to submit a new character befitting of the skill level that is found in each Saga's placement.
Also, the only race that you'll be allowed to submit in this category are humans and the rare Fishman. More on that down below.
Down below are the characters that I'll be looking for.
RULES FOR SUBMISSION
Do not create an OC with any familial relationship with a pre-existing canon character. You can have them know and have some type of relationship with them–depending on who it is–but try to make these OCs as distinct from each other as possible.
Some OCs may not cross paths with each other, while others are tied closer together than you'd think. So keep an open mind.
Be sure to give an in-depth description of your character's backstory for it to be added to the story.
The story begins on the day that Luffy sets sail from Dawn Island. No Haki-level users here right now, nor any advanced Devil Fruit users using Logia-type fruits or possessing an Awakening.
People like Luffy, Arlong, Kuro, and Buggy are the rare exceptions for this part of the sea.
