TEMARI

She held the phone to her ear, hearing it ring. Pick up, she urged.

"Hello?" she heard from the other end.

"Kankurou! Gaara! How is your dorm?"

"Satisfactory," Gaara stated.

"We got a bunk bed," Kankurou shouted from the background.

"Good. How did you find the tour?" she asked, looking over the schedule in her hands. She remembered this schedule from the welcome email she received weeks ago. She had assumed all she and her brothers needed to do was to pick up physical copies at the office with her keys - but then they were informed of the tour... The tour was a last-moment add on, she concluded.

"Subpar," Gaara answered.

"I don't know - I think the pineapple head guy was alright. He certainly liked Temari."

"Any thoughts on the campus?" Temari asked, hoping to gauge a response. She needed more if she was going to make her weekly report to their father.

The line went quiet for a while before Kankurou's voice could be heard, "Wait, what did you think of him, Temari?" Kankurou asked slowly.

"He was... interesting."

Inside guide to Konoha, she recalled. "I think he's the key to us getting in," she told them firmly. She laid back on her bed to think about it. This first week was crucial to their mission here. They needed to ascertain the points of entry and assess the scale of weaknesses of Konoha College. She had special feeling about Shikamaru.

"His organisational skills are wanting," Gaara noted, "However that may indicate he is the weak link we can take advantage of."

"Mmhmm," Kankurou could be heard on the phone. "Then I guess you need to work on him," Kankurou said.

Temari smiled as she imagined spending more time with Shikamaru. "He was going to show us the campus flower garden," she told them humorously.

"Isn't it fall for them now? Aren't all the flowers dead?" Kankurou told them. Temari explained that the campus had its own greenhouse and agricultural hub.

"They plant stuff? That's cool. They do have some cool shit here," he muttered.

Gaara concurred, "I do enjoy succulents. And their music facilities have potential."

Temari scrunched her eyebrows, "Is that where you went, Gaara?"

There was no sound.

Gaara ignored her question, and instead directed a question to Temari. "Did you quench your thirst for revenge, sister?"

"Yeah. It was great. You guys should've seen her face."

"Excellent," Gaara told her.

"I told you not to go for the cashmere today," Kankurou said, "Cashmere is not the right material for revenge."

Temari rolled her eyes, "I don't think you can dress for revenge."

Angrily, Kankurou's voice shot through the phone, "How can you be so smart but also so wrong, Temari?!"

Temari shook her head in laughter as she held the phone away from her ear.

"Whatever. I'll call you guys tomorrow. I have a class tomorrow with that Shikamaru guy."

"Take it easy, Temari," Kankurou told her through the phone. "You don't want to scare off your new boyfriend, Tem," warned Kankurou.

"We must urge you that these Konoha students may not take well to your tactics, Temari," Gaara warned forebodingly. "They seem to be of a gentler disposition."

With that, Temari hung up. She didn't come here to find love. She was here to destroy Konoha from the inside out.
