Blake couldn't sleep that night, ever since the cat girl met the new guest. The girl thought it was because of the man at first, but...

"So, what do you guys think?" Blake heard Ruby's voice. The cat girl put a pillow over her head to try to block out the sound of her team, but because of her acute hearing, it was difficult for the girl.

"Well, Director Ozpin must have a reason," Blake heard Weiss's voice.

"Did you see the way that shirt clung to his body?" Yang smiled, and Blake shrunk; the Faunus girl had noticed that too but decided not to comment.

It was quite attractive...

"Yang?!" Ruby Yelled.

"W-what?!" Weiss said with flushed cheeks.

"Hey, I say what's on my mind. What do you think, Blakey?" Yang asked the quiet roommate.

Blake couldn't hold back any longer; the girl opened her mouth and shouted, "SHUT UP AND GO TO SLEEP!"

As a Faunus I'm Like Humans

-2-

The blonde girl yawned as she walked through the corridors. Yang was the first one to wake up, dressed in a short yellow shirt with "Yang" on the back and the number 04, exposing her midriff, along with short sports shorts.

Yang Xiao Long had woken up early to work out, something she highly valued to keep her body in shape. She had tried to rally her team for a morning workout, but she was met with denials, especially from Blake, who responded with a pillow to the face. Yang thought that the quiet girl of the group was still upset with her for making noise late at night.

Yang wanted to break Blake out of her shell, but it seemed that the girl didn't like her very much.

Now that Yang stopped to think about it, Blake was the complete opposite of her personality. Yang was extroverted, and Blake was introverted. Yang liked people, while Blake avoided them. Yang had a large bust, and Blake had a big butt, truly opposites.

Yang pondered as she walked to the school's gym, "We really are opposites..." Upon entering the gym, Yang heard the sound of iron clashing with iron, catching her attention.

Someone is working out at this hour?

Usually, Yang arrived before everyone else. She used to work out at night, but she noticed it drew too much attention and received stares from all around. Normally, Yang didn't mind, but she was going to be at Beacon for four years, so it was better to avoid the discomfort.

Furthermore, Yang did the same thing to others, observing the well-developed and attractive guys. She often said that people were only interested in her body, but Yang did the same.

If you were to question Yang Xiao Long about this, she would deny it to the grave.

Upon entering the gym, Yang noticed a shirtless man using a barbell with weights. He explosively lifted and disconnected the barbell from the support and raised it quickly, putting it on the upper rack. The process was repeated numerous times until the man was completely sweaty and exhausted.

Yang blinked in surprise. She believed in heavy training for results, but this was ridiculous. If the man was using a high volume of weights, he was doing explosive and unorthodox training. If a mistake were to happen, serious injury or even death could be a real risk.

Yang noticed that the man released the barbell, leaving it connected to the support, and he collapsed to the floor, breathing heavily.

Yang approached and noticed a significant number of scars on the man's body. They appeared to be from bites, stabbings, bullets, scratches, claws... there were many.

As she got closer, Yang realized that the person was John. His hair was all disheveled, unlike his usual slicked-back style, which made him unrecognizable to Yang.

John felt someone touch his shoulder, and when he turned his head, the first thing he saw was a smiling Yang Xiao Long.

"Hello!" Yang smiled, her eyes squinting with cheer.

John turned his head to the side. He had chosen this specific time because the students were either still asleep or just waking up, not expecting anyone to be in the gym at this hour.

"Here, you need this more than I do," John felt something cold against his cheek. Using his right hand, he took the water bottle offered by Yang.

"Thank you... isn't it a bit early to work out?" Yang smiled, crouching down to be at the same level as the seated man.

"You've said something like that before; I'm getting deja vu. And to answer your question, this is the time I go to the gym," John unscrewed the bottle cap and held it a little above his head as he poured water into his mouth. Yang blinked in surprise, wondering why he did that.

"Why didn't you just drink from the cap? It has an opening," Yang pointed to the bottle cap in the man's other hand. John stopped drinking and looked at Yang.

"To avoid mouth contact," Yang looked at the man, screwing the bottle cap back on and handing it back to her.

The blonde girl stared at the water bottle and then at John with a smile.

"So, you don't want an indirect kiss. You know, I'm feeling offended. I didn't expect a grown adult like you to be concerned about something so childish," Yang drank the water from the bottle cap opening, and John winced at the girl's comment.

John sighed and wondered why all blondes had this type of personality. A woman with a smile on her face and a biker jacket on a motorcycle came to his mind.

"If you want, I can stick my tongue in your mouth." As soon as John said these words to Yang, the girl spit out the water in surprise.

"What?!" Looking at John, Yang found the man with a smile on his face.

"I'm joking; your face turned as red as a tomato. Relax," John smiled while Yang tried to calm down. The man noticed that the girl's eyes had turned red.

"Very funny..." Yang looked at the ground, waiting for the heat to leave her face.

"Why are you training this way? If you make a mistake and the weights fall, you could end up killing yourself. Are you preparing for a war or something?" Yang smiled as she made a joke, but John put his hand on his chin as if pondering.

"Since you're here, could you be my training partner?" Yang raised an eyebrow, noticing that John had sidestepped the question.

"Hey, you didn't answer the question." John got up from the floor and offered his hand to Yang.

Yang looked at the man's hand and then at his face.

"You're not going to tell me, are you?" Yang sighed and accepted the man's hand, but the force with which Yang Xiao Long was lifted surprised her. She was practically lifted off the ground, with only the tips of her toes touching the floor. Yang's face was at eye level with John's.

"He lifted me like it was nothing, and I'm almost twice Blake's weight..." Yang think a little loud

"How about we start with a light workout?" Yang snapped back to reality and noticed that the man had set her back on the ground.

"What?" Yang looked at what John was referring to and saw that he had a fighting ring.

"Are you coming? It's boring to train alone," John looked back.

"Okay, but don't complain when I give you a beating," Yang snapped her fingers and walked after the man.

John just smiled at the girl.

"If you ask nicely, I might go easy on you," Yang smiled as John pulled the ropes apart to let the girl enter, and he was surprised by the range of options Beacon had.

"Sure, let's start with something light," he said with a smile.

"Let's go," Yang said as she took small jumps to warm up her body, her breasts bouncing with the movement.

John looked on and wondered if all the blondes he had met in his life shared the same personality.

-2-

Blake walked out of the bathroom in her casual clothes, a towel on her head as she dried her wet hair.

Weiss glanced at Blake from the corner of her eye as she combed her hair, wondering how the team's antisocial girl liked wearing such tight-fitting clothes.

Blake felt someone looking at her, and when she turned her head, she noticed Weiss staring at her.

"What?" Blake raised an eyebrow, and Weiss's eyes widened, wondering if the antisocial girl had superhuman senses.

"It's just that I'm curious, do you do gymnastics? Your clothes resemble athletes' uniforms a lot," Weiss tried to ask politely, but Blake understood what the girl with white hair meant.

Translating... Aren't you embarrassed to wear clothes that look like a second skin?

"When I was a child, my mother encouraged me to practice gymnastics. At first, I didn't like it, but now I'm surprised at how much it's become a part of my life. I even incorporated it into my combat style," translating - go to hell, Weiss!

"Oh, I didn't expect you had those kinds of hobbies. Maybe we should go together sometime," Weiss smiled at Blake, translating - you don't have to be so wild about it...

"Sure, a group activity," Blake showed a small smile on her face, translating - you're the one acting like a bitch here...

The two girls just smiled at each other with an awkward atmosphere.

"Grr, why are you making so much noise, it's Saturday..." Blake and Weiss looked at Ruby at the top of the bunk bed as she tried to wake up. Ruby moved forward a bit, causing her to fall off the bed.

A hollow sound caught the girls' attention.

"Err, are you okay, Ruby?" Even though Blake asked the question, she didn't move to help her. In fact, Blake went to a bookshelf.

"Yeah, I'm fine... I just need to..." Ruby didn't finish her sentence; she just went back to sleep on the cold floor.

Weiss made an uncomfortable expression as she looked at Ruby.

"How did you pass the exam..." Weiss heard Blake give a silent laugh.

The door opened, drawing the attention of Blake and Weiss.

Ruby jumped off the floor in surprise and looked in the direction of the noise.

Yang appeared with a goofy smile on her face, and her clothes were so torn that she had a revealing appearance.

"Yang… what happened to your hair?!" Ruby put her hand over her mouth in panic as she looked at her sister's short hair.

Yang closed the door and walked with a goofy smile to her bed.

"Is she okay?" Even Blake asked with concern as she observed Yang's strange behavior.

"I don't know..." Weiss stopped combing her hair and looked at Blake, who looked back. Both of them walked in Yang's direction.

Ruby used her Semblance and appeared on her sister's bed.

"Yang, what happened to you?!" Ruby appeared and disappeared from one side to the other, leaving rose petals scattered everywhere.

"Don't worry, sis. I'll find whoever did this to you and show them a thing or two about it. They won't know what hit them... Wait, are you smiling?" Ruby was performing some Karate moves she had seen in movies when she stopped, noticing the goofy smile on Yang's face.

Blake and Weiss raised their eyebrows.

Yang got up from the bed incredibly quickly, causing Ruby to fall off the bed, and Weiss and Blake took a step back in surprise.

"Ouch, not again!" Ruby rubbed her head, trying to make the pain from the fall go away.

"In love!" Blake and Weiss looked at each other and then at the brawler girl, who now had short hair.

"What?" Ruby got up, still rubbing her head.

"RUBY, I'M IN LOVE!" Yang shouted as she held Ruby's shoulders and shook the girl.

Little Ruby Rose couldn't understand anything, while Weiss and Blake raised their eyebrows at their blonde teammate.

"Is she okay?" Weiss asked Blake, who just shrugged.

"I don't know; who knows what goes on in Yang's head," Blake just picked up her book and went to her bed.

"I guess I don't want to know either..." Weiss sat in the chair in front of the mirror and resumed taking care of her hair.

Ruby was being shaken from side to side while Yang had a goofy smile on her face.

"Huh?" Ruby said in confusion.

-2-

Weiss and Blake had already left their rooms, leaving Yang and Ruby alone.

Blake walked while looking at her book, thinking about the words of her team's brawler.

"I fell in love!"

What did Yang mean by that? Blake noticed that, despite Yang's confident and playful attitude, the blonde girl was shy when it came to talking to boys...

Ironically, the most sociable member of the team didn't know how to talk to the opposite gender.

Not to mention what happened to her hair...

But the question that lingered in Blake's mind was who?

Blake noticed something that caught her attention. Looking out the window, the cat girl saw Velvet talking to...

Was that Cardin?!

Why was Velvet talking to the boy who had pulled her ears at the cafeteria?

But something was wrong; Cardin had his finger on his cheek, as if he were talking, and Velvet had her finger twirling a strand of hair.

Cardin seemed embarrassed...

Don't tell me...

Blake's mouth hung open in surprise as her book fell to the ground. Blake blinked, snapping out of her trance, and bent down to pick up the book.

"Well... it's not my business. Better not to interfere," the cat girl just continued to walk down the hallway with a smile on her face.

The world is indeed a strange place. Maybe Blake had misunderstood how things work.

Maybe things aren't as bad as the White Fang used to say...

"Ouch!" Blake bumped into something hard, causing her to fall to the ground... again.

Rubbing her sore nose, the Faunus girl looked up and saw someone familiar.

"Hm?" John looked at the person who had bumped into his back and noticed the girl from Team RWBY on the ground... again.

"Again?" Something was wrong; why did she always run into this man?

"Need a hand, cat girl?" John smiled and offered his hand to Blake, who looked at the man's hand and then at his face.

"You promised not to do that again, didn't you?" Blake looked into John's eyes... or Jonathan, as Goodwitch calls him.

"I don't know what you're talking about." John lifted Blake until her feet weren't touching the ground.

Blake squinted her eyes while being lifted into the air by the man, but something caught her attention.

"You... called me a cat!?" Blake widened her eyes in surprise, while John had a smile on his face.

He put Blake back on the ground, but the girl didn't move; she just stared at the man in shock.

"Are you okay?" Blake seemed not to hear what the man said and took a step forward, making John raise an eyebrow.

"HOW DID YOU KNOW?!" Blake practically shouted, the girl was terrified that someone knew her secret.

How did he find out?

And if he decides to tell someone, what do I do?

Blake shrunk back, taking steps backward in fear until her back touched the wall.

John just looked at Blake, staring at the girl for a few seconds.

"Your bow is on the ground; it's not that hard to notice." Blake's eyes followed John's gaze, and she saw her bow on the floor.

The man took a few steps forward and bent down to pick up the girl's bow.

"You know, you look better with your ears out. You should consider showing them more." Blake looked at him, blinking in surprise.

"What... wait, you liked my ears? Really? You liked them?!" Blake blurted out without thinking and quickly covered her mouth to stop herself.

"Calm down, calm down, and to answer your question, yes, I liked your ears. I think the white fur gives them a charming, very cute looking." As soon as Blake heard the man's words, her ears perked up, as if they wanted to be seen.

"Can I?" John gestured that he wanted to touch her ears, which made Blake look at the man carefully.

He wanted to touch them?!

"You won't pull on them, will you?" Blake asked cautiously but moved her head into the man's hand.

I hope I don't regret this. Usually, Faunus only let their partners touch their animal features; allowing someone to touch them so casually...

"Okay, but..." John didn't wait for Blake to finish and gently held one of the girl's feline ears.

?!

"Huh?!" Blake practically jumped at the sudden touch; her feline ears were the most sensitive part of her body. Her eyes were closed as the man touched her ears.

"Soft... I don't think it's from a domestic cat... maybe a hybrid... and very beautiful too..." Blake opened one eye as she heard the man talk; it seemed like John was studying her.

Wait, did he say beautiful?

Did he really like it?

When Blake opened both eyes, she noticed that John had stopped stroking her ears and was looking into her eyes.

"John?!" Blake's cheeks turned red when she saw the man holding her chin and getting closer to her face.

What is he doing?!

"Hmm, these eyes aren't from a domestic cat... maybe a puma?" Blake blinked at the man's words. John released her chin and took a step back.

"Sorry if I scared you; it must be strange for someone you don't know to get so close. Do you have a tail, too?" John had an embarrassed smile while Blake tilted her head in curiosity and a bit of warmth in her cheeks.

"No, it's okay. After all, we know each other, right? And to answer your question, yes, I do. It's a little embarrassing to admit." Blake was playing with a strand of her hair while occasionally looking at the man.

It seems that John really liked the feline characteristics of the girl, or he was just curious.

Probably the last option, but if the man showed interest...

Blake never thought that a human would show interest in her; she always thought she would be in conflict against humans, even though she had conflicting thoughts about humanity, something her father would disagree with.

Did John really like it?

A gentle smile appeared on the antisocial girl's face, something not often seen.

"Can I see it too, if it's not too much trouble?" John gave a half-smile and took a step back to make the girl more comfortable.

Blake looked into the man's eyes; the light amber clashed with a dark brown. The Faunus girl looked at the ground with a smile on her face.

"S-Sure, but be quick. I don't want anyone to see me." It was still early in the morning, but Blake didn't want to take any risks. For some reason, the act of being caught was thrilling to her, even though she wasn't doing anything peculiar...

John noticed something moving near the girl's waist.

A tail, coiled around her waist like a belt.

Blake looked at the man with her hands behind her back and a shy look on her face.

"Here you go, what do you think?" Blake anxiously waited for the man's response. Could it be that a human finally accepted her, even though she was a Faunus?

"Why do you hide this side of you? You look quite pretty like this; you'd be a hit with the boys." Blake's eyes widened while the ears on the top of her head shrank.

"I... I still don't have the courage... maybe I never will. I... I don't like it... I wish I had been born just a regular human, then I wouldn't be rejected all the time." Blake held one of her arms while looking anywhere but the man's gaze.

"I see..." John watched the girl with a sympathetic look.

"I can't say I fully understand, but if you never try, you'll never know. How about giving it a chance? If it goes wrong, well, patience." Blake looked at John who was offering her bow back.

Blake looked at the bow and then at the man, and her cat ears perked up.

She gently pushed the bow back into the man's hand.

"Alright... But if anything goes wrong, I'm blaming you," Blake offered a half-smile.

"Fine by me," John replied with a half-smile.

Blake didn't know why the man was helping, but to be honest, she didn't care about the reason. It was nice that someone wasn't rejecting her for once.

"Blake?!" Blake heard the voice of someone familiar, and her cat ears and tail stiffened in fear.

Blake slowly turned her head and saw Weiss Schnee, who had dropped her scroll in surprise.

Blake held out her hand to John and opened her palm as if she were asking for her bow back. The man raised an eyebrow.

"Seriously? Don't you want to give it a try, at least?" Blake knew it wouldn't be easy, and she sighed as her ears drooped in sadness.

Before Blake could say anything, Weiss shouted first...

"YOU'RE A FAUNUS?!"

-Extra-

"So... when are we going to visit your father and mother?" Hearing the man's question, Blake tensed and choked on a piece of tuna.

Blake coughed and coughed, and John offered her a glass of juice, which she accepted and drank to the last drop.

They were both eating at a table outside, not exactly a restaurant, more like a café.

Blake looked at the man, who had a smile on his face as he took a bite of chicken.

"Jonathan... w-we talked about this... why are you so interested in this?" Blake said nervously.

"Well, your mother always treated me kindly when we talked through video calls, so I'd like to fulfill her request to see you," John said, resting his fist on his cheek and smiling at the faunus girl.

"B-but... my father..." Blake looked down at her food, ashamed to meet the man's eyes due to her own father's opinion.

"I bought the tickets, Blake. We're going to see your parents. It's been two years since you've seen them. Don't you think it's time?" Blake's cat ears drooped, and her tail stiffened.

"I...," Blake sighed in defeat, knowing that the man wouldn't let her run away from her problems as she used to.

"Alright... I sometimes forget how you always take care of me," Blake smiled at the man. Even though she wanted to avoid the inevitable conflict, the faunus girl knew it was necessary, and she missed her family.

"Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you..." Blake turned her head to the side, looking puzzled.

"Tell me what, John?" John just gave an apologetic smile to the faunus girl.

Blake felt someone's hand on her shoulder.

"Hello!" Blake shivered at the sound of the voice. She jumped from the gallery, using the table as support, and fell beside the man. People around them watched what was happening, causing Blake to shrink in embarrassment.

"Wow, if I didn't know you, I'd think you don't like me, Blakey," Yang Xiao Long waved her hand with a smile on her face, causing Blake to narrow her eyes at the girl.

"Yang..." John felt Blake digging her nails into his shoulder.

"I'm happy to see you too, kitty," Blake flinched as she felt Yang hit her buttocks. It wasn't a painful slap, just a warning.

"Blake, behave...," Blake's cat ears drooped in response to the man's scolding.

"I like your collar, and it seems you're still quite obedient to him," Yang placed her fist on her cheek, and she seemed to be in a bad mood for an unknown reason.

Blake's eyes widened at Yang's words. "It's not a collar; it's a necklace!" Blake almost shouted indignantly. Why was she doing this? Everything was repeating again.

"Blake...," she looked at John, who leaned on her arm. Blake looked at him and sighed in defeat.

"To answer your question, John invited me," Blake looked at Yang in surprise and then at the man, waiting for an explanation.

"John?!" John turned his gaze away, not wanting to see the annoyed woman.

"As I said, you can't run away from your problems anymore, Blake...," Blake was left speechless by the man's attitude.

You're the one avoiding confronting me!

Blake heard Yang clear her throat, drawing the faunus girl's attention.

"So, are you going to introduce your boyfriend to your parents, or... I never expected the loner girl from Beacon was a hunter, if you know what I mean," Yang winked at Blake with a smile on her face, but Blake looked displeased. She glanced at the empty plate of food that had been hers, and Yang had devoured it.

"Tsk," Blake clicked her tongue in annoyance at the blonde girl, who only laughed at her behavior.

A light tap on Blake's butt made her jump slightly. It wasn't a painful tap; it was more of a warning.

"J-John?! Not here..." Blake shrunk with a little slap in the butt.

"Behave, Blake. I didn't bring Yang here for you two to fight," Blake's cat ears drooped as she listened to the man.

"Grr... okay, I'll try to get along with Yang," Blake forced a smile.

"I forgot to mention, Ruby and Weiss are coming too," Blake quickly turned her head to Yang with wide eyes. Yang shrugged, and Blake turned to John, expressing that she didn't want to be in that situation. The faunus girl instinctively dug her nails into John's shirt.

"Hey, don't look at me like that. I only invited Yang. Can you please stop ripping me with your claws?"
