The heron had been there for over three days now.

Jacob Greenly came to her yesterday, demanding she do something about it. At first, she ignored him, but soon others started to demand she do something.

A part of her felt bad for it. The monster wasn't doing anything wrong, it was miles away from any of the small settlements in the valley, but she also would admit that could change at any moment.

So she walked to the old town known as Wartwood, a frog community in the old days, to confront it.

Looking around she could see that the heron could have chosen any other building to sit on, for a town the buildings were surprisingly large.

She could see cars and wagons strewn about, a stark reminder of what the world use to be.

A part of her wondered what life would be like for her if she lived there, going to school instead of being taught by her parents and Jan.

But it was only a dream and one she would have to ignore.

"I'm sorry," she whispered towards the creature.

Slowly she felt something ripple in her stomach, it was strange how that was where the transformation started.

She looked at her skin, others didn't notice the change, but she didn't, her skin started to turn green.

Her tongue started to become bigger, her mouth started to grow to accommodate it.

Sweat started to secrete from her body, Jan said it wasn't really sweat, but Anne didn't see the difference.

Limbs started to expand, There was a snap as the girl felt her bones grow and change shape, her skull shifted, becoming more squat and expanding.

Her body grew larger, she tried to hold back from screaming, lest she woke the heron before she was ready, her clothes were ripped apart, as they could no longer contain the swelling mass her body had become.

No longer able to stand, she fell to her legs and bit her lip.

Soon even her teeth retracted and she couldn't even do that.

Her vision faded briefly as the transformation finished.

Opening her eyes, she was not surprised to see that they were smaller now, a birch tree which towered above her was now a quarter of her total height.

Turning to look at the heron, she let out a roar.

The giant bird raised its head and looked at her, it let out an inhuman shriek, the frog monster expected it to start flying away or towards her.

Instead, the building exploded, the heron had been hiding its massive legs inside the building, it flew towards her, its feet outstretched

She felt the talons scratch at her skin, trying to tear up her skin

Her skin was strong enough to resist it.

The heron, aware that it could not easily scar this creature, flew up and gave another screech and flew into the sky.

Turning up the monster that was once a girl gave another roar, and flung her tongue towards it, it failed to connect, cursing itself the monster retracted its tongue.

As she did the heron flew around to catch her again, this time however it flew towards her, its beak pointing towards her, preparing to spear her.

Without a moments' hesitation, she jumped.

She didn't see the collision, but she heard it, a loud crash as the Arial terror hit the ground.

The human mind inside the monster smiled at being able to trick her opponent

Landing on the heron she heard it made a hideous screech, part of her wanted to sit on it until it just gave up, hoping it would just give up.

She wasn't that lucky.

The creature squirmed its way out of her large body, and leaped onto her back.

From behind her, there was another screech.

Then she felt a stab of pain in her back.

The frog monster screamed then tried to turn, however the colossal weight of the heron kept her still.

There was another peck and another, each causing a sharp pain in the monster's back.

As the heron rose it's head again, the frog monster took all of her strength and jumped, the heron was unable to keep on to the frog and fell off.

The fog landed with another small earthquake, the heron took one look at her and let out a large shriek.

This was the opportunity the frog monster was looking for, she shot her tongue at it.

The shriek stopped suddenly, as the heron found itself unable to scream, the beast's tongue was just too strong.

Slowly, the frog monster dragged its head towards her mouth.

Opening wide they dragged the head inside its mouth, the moment its neck was past her lips she bit down.

The taste of feathers made the monster mind gag, this was nasty, it was like eating a feather duster, it was another reminder of why she only used this in desperate times.

She couldn't chew its head off, no, her move was far more brutal

Lifting the heron's body into the sky, the frog monster slammed it to the ground again and again, the creature kept struggling trying to free itself.

Not letting go, the frog monster slammed the creature's body into a building, causing it to crumble.

Again and again she did this, eventually the heron's body slackened.

She kept it in her mouth for a few more seconds before spitting it out.

The heron lay there on the floor, not moving.

For a brief moment the frog monster thought it was over, they turned away, the fight had only taken fifteen minutes, she still had at least three quarters of an hour before she turned to human again.

That's when she heard the rustle of feathers, turning, the frog monster expected to see it coming towards her again.

No. It was worse than that.

It was trying to fly away.

The heron was only a few feet off the ground, at least as heard as some of the medium size buildings, however it was far weaker now, its wings damaged, and slowly it started to fall.

As it fell, the frog monster watched in horror as it landed on a building spire.

The large rod went through its body, for a few seconds the heron squirmed, Then it finally stopped moving, its head lay motionless against the side of the structure.

Sitting there, the frog monster watched this with a mix of disgust and pity.

She didn't know why it was here, maybe it would have just stayed there for the night then moved on.

The valley needed protecting but from what? A monster that had probably only come here for food? To sleep.

The anger inside her welled up, It just wasn't fair, why was she the one that had to kill, no one would appreciate it, heck the only reason she did this was so that they didn't go after her.

She closed her eyes and was about to let out another hate filled roar.

"aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh."

The frog monster sat there for a few seconds, wondering where the far smaller scream had come from.

Opening her eyes, she saw something pink wearing a blue and purple jumpsuit run by a terrified look on his face, he was looking behind him when he turned around to see her and his eyes grew wider and filled with even more fright, he stopped in front of her and turned around, then stopped.

Behind him was an army of large Mantis monsters both green and red chasing him, when they saw her they stopped, each of them let out a hiss.

The frog monster let out a moan, "Yeah, I knew it was too easy," she thought.
