As Allie was waiting for Detective Fitzroy, she found Eliza who had just finished talking with Miss Doyle'a parents. Allie and Eliza stood back and watched the happy reunion of the family.
Allie and Eliza returned the waiting area that Allie had left from. While discussing the case and what the next steps were Detective Fitzroy walked out from a triage room sporting a sling and in his other hand a box of bandages and medication. Eliza and Allie both stood as he got closer. "Everything turn out okay?" Eliza asked. "Yes Miss Scarlet, just need to change the bandage and apply antibiotic ointment, and I was really hoping you would help me with that Allie." Allie smiled and accepted the request, "I will have you as good as new in no time Oliver." Allie reached out and took the bandages and medication so he wouldn't have to carry them. Fitzroy was talking about the wound to Allie while Eliza became carried away, lost in her own thoughts remembering sitting with William day in and day out, and begging him to not leave her. Only he did end up leaving her anyway. "Lizzie, are you ready to go? Oliver is git a coach for us, he will drop us home on the way." Eliza nodded and they left the hospital.
As they pulled up to their home Detective Fitzroy assisted Eliza and Allie out of the coach. He walked them up to the door, Eliza opened the door and was met by Ivy. "Thank goodness you two are back in one piece. Oh, except for you Detective Fitzroy! Come in I have food ready for you and you can tell me all about it, you as well Detective Fitzroy there is more than plenty. This came for you too Eliza!" Ivy handed Eliza a letter, it was from William. Eliza stood there torn between reading it and throwing it in the fire. Allie was helping Fitzroy with his jacket, when she noticed Eliza with the letter she whispered , "He wrote you back!" Eliza smiled weakly appearing nervous. Eliza stated, "Why don't you and Detective Fitzroy head to the kitchen, I will be there in a minute." Allie nodded and placed a comforting hand on Eliza's arm. Eliza watched as Allie led Fitzroy to the kitchen, observing him place his hand on the small of Allie's back and Allie looked back at him with a smile. Eliza smiled at the tender moment between them and opened the letter.
My Dearest Eliza,
I am in another country and there is an ocean between us. I still feel, see you, and hear you. I am reminded of you everywhere I go, it is both comforting and torture all at once. I am yours Eliza, nothing will ever change that. I have been yours since the very beginning. I had to put space between us, my feelings and desires for you won't allow me to keep my distance. I crave you Eliza, I have had to control my urges for so long. Our casual brushes against each other have tested my willpower and strength. I am weak, you cloud my judgement and all my decisions are made with you in mind. I can't not have you in my life, we can figure things out and compromise. Eliza your happiness is of my primary concern. I could never ask you to change yourself or your dreams, I am in love with all of you and accept all of you as you are. Eliza, you are my home, you are where I keep my heart.
I can't say that I am not happy about Nash and Sons, Nash has always rubbed me the wrong way. Upon further reflection it was probably due to my jealousy. I wish Allie ended up on your doorstep under different circumstances. It gives me great comfort that she is there with you and that Fitzroy was there to support her during that difficult time. Fitzroy sent me a letter apprising me of her situation as well, and other happenings at Scotland Yard. I have been relying on Ivy's and Fitzroy's letter to make sure you are well.
Please for the love of God stay out of harms way, especially now that Allie is there. I seem to remember thinking when we were younger how on earth anyone could handle two Miss Scarlets.
You don't have to tell me you love me in a letter. There have been talks about my secondment ending early due to the needs of my return Scotland Yard. I am hoping they send me back soon.
Eternally Yours.
William
Eliza folded the letter and placed it in her pocket. She smiled, she was still mad that he left her. She would have eventually been able to say something after he rendered her speechless, had he given her a chance. She joined everyone in the kitchen still smiling. Allie noticed the happiness all over Eliza's face, "I am guessing it was a good letter?" Eliza nodded yes and promised they would talk about it later. Ivy had also received a letter from William that same day, he told Ivy that Eliza had written him regarding her feelings and thanked her if she had anything to do with it. Fitzroy complemented Ivy on the delicious dinner, and stated that he should take his leave, as it was getting late and he had not been home in almost two days now. He rose from the table and Allie rose as well so that she could help him with his coat. Ivy chimed in, "You could always stay here while you are healing, you won't be able to do anything for yourself with that sling on." Allie looked at Eliza searching for some sort of permission. Eliza caught on, "Yes Oliver, please stay. It's Friday. Stay the weekend and get rest, I am sure Allie will have you all healed up and ready to return to work on Monday. We all know there is nothing of importance that needs to be addressed at Inspector Wellington's home, I am sure we have everything you could need here." Allie was nervous to hear his answer, she wanted him to stay but didn't want him to feel uncomfortable. Fitzroy smiled, "I wouldn't want to intrude, but it would be nice to have some company while I am laid up." Ivy smiled, "It's settled then, I will make up Henry's room."
