Erin was seated at the bar in Molly's, holding a beer and taking small sips as her mind wandered to Justin and the kiss, causing her brows to furrow in confusion. 'Why did he kiss me?' Erin pondered silently, pressing a finger to her lips.
'He must have been simply pleased to see me, that's all,' she muttered, taking a large gulp of her beer.
Her hazel eyes glanced up from the counter upon feeling a gentle tap on her shoulder, realizing it was Shay who greeted her as 'Hey, there detective.' The blond paramedic's presence caused Erin to straighten her posture on her stool.
'Hey, Shay, sorry for not noticing you there,' she apologized, placing her beer on the counter. Shay settled beside Erin and propped her elbow on the counter, saying, 'It's okay, I just came over to check if you were okay. You seem lost in thought.'
Erin nodded as she listened to her friend's concern, appreciating the company. 'I'm fine,' she reassured.
Shay inquired, 'Are you certain? You appear as if someone has just snatched a guy from you,' as she appropriated Erin's beer and took a sip. 'Hey, that belongs to me, find your own,' Erin pouted, eliciting a laugh from the blond.
Shay proceeded to pat Erin on the back and remarked, 'You weren't consuming it,' causing the brunette to playfully retort, 'You're a dork.'
'I am not a dork, that would be you,' Shay countered while lightly tapping Erin's shoulder.
'And you still haven't shared what's on your mind,' she added, leaning in to gaze into Erin's hazel eyes. 'So, reveal what has you deep in thought,' Shay said, resting her chin on her palm as Erin met her gaze.
'It's truly nothing, I swear. I was just pondering a case or something, that's all,' Erin tried to deflect. Erin observed Shay arch an eyebrow and said, 'Truly? Are you certain it's not about a guy, or perhaps about me?'
Shay grinned playfully and received a poke on her cheek. 'No and no. Why would I swoon over a boy?' the brunette questioned.
Shay nonchalantly remarked, 'You may not notice, but I can see Halstead showing interest in you whenever the opportunity arises, so he might be on your mind,' she said.
Erin responded by shaking her head and laughing, 'No, it's not Jay.' She refrained from disclosing to Shay about Justin and the incident where he had kissed her once she picked him up from prison.
Shay then inquired, 'Then what is it?' with a smile on her face, while Erin, shrugging, replied, 'Nothing really, I'm just tired, that's all. I had to pick Justin up for Voight,' she said, taking a sip of her beer, 'and I have to make sure to keep an eye on Justin and prevent him from causing any trouble.'
Shay nodded attentively as she listened, commenting, 'I nearly forgot that you had to pick Justin up,' and then patting Erin's shoulder, she inquired, 'How did it go?' Erin smiled, saying, 'It went fine. I'm relieved that Justin is now out,' finishing her beer, she stood up from the barstool, 'Anyway, I have to leave now,' she said, giving Shay a hug before exiting Molly's."
Upon reaching her car, Erin got inside and proceeded to drive home with a mind full of thoughts. While on her way to her apartment, she rubbed her face.
Erin arrived home after purchasing a six-pack of beer and a sub. After unlocking the door, she walked into the apartment, placed her belongings on the counter, and took out a beer. As she checked her phone for messages, her gaze lingered on Justin's number.
Despite pressing the call button, she was interrupted by a knock on the door. 'Erin, can we talk?' Justin's voice came through as she paused to let him in.
After opening the door and questioning if anything was wrong, they had a conversation about the earlier kiss. 'I'm sorry about the kiss,' Justin expressed, a look of confusion in his blue eyes as they sat together on the couch.
Erin gazed at him and paused before stating, 'I am not upset about the kiss, Justin. I am just feeling puzzled,' as she averted her hazel eyes towards the floor.
Justin, remorsefully replying, admitted 'I realize that I should not have impulsively kissed you in that manner, but my excitement upon seeing you overwhelmed me.' Despite understanding they were not biologically related, he felt uncomfortable harboring feelings for his foster sister.
Erin, nodding in agreement, softly remarked while maintaining eye contact with him. She was troubled by the significance of the kiss and exhaled audibly.
Erin then whispered to Justin, compelling him to meet her gaze, 'I have a query.' Curiously, he inquired, 'What is it?' Erin then courageously inquired, 'Did the kiss hold any meaning? I need clarity on that.'
Justin pondered her question and eventually confessed, 'Despite knowing it should not signify anything, it did. I am aware of that we arnt blood relation, yet it feels wrong."
Erin carefully listened before speaking, 'I understand your sentiments, however, if this holds significance, perhaps it would be beneficial for us to discuss the appropriate course of action,' she expressed.
Justin then confessed, 'I find myself unable to shake the thought of kissing you again.' Recalling the moment they kissed, he realized it felt natural and desired to experience it once more, this time with Erin's consent.
Erin, meeting Justin's gaze with surprise, admitted her own desire to kiss him properly and without hesitation, she stated, 'If we decide to pursue something.'
Justin, visibly uneasy as he fidgeted on the couch, replied, 'I agree. This must remain confidential between us; revealing it to Voight could have severe consequences for both of us,' Erin cautioned, locking eyes with Justin.
Acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, Justin assented, understanding the importance of discretion in their interactions. 'Certainly, any development between us will be handled discreetly,' Justin vowed, ensuring Erin's comfort and peace of mind.
Erin nodded and expressed, 'But once we're more comfortable, we can inform Voight. Until then, let's keep it between us,' she leaned towards Justin who reciprocated.
Justin nodded and moved his hands to the back of Erin's head, kissing her. Erin responded, her hands on his shoulders. As they deepened the kiss, Erin couldn't restrain a moan when Justin's hand moved up her shirt. Erin felt herself against the couch as Justin climbed on top of her.
She was fully immersed in the moment, enjoying Justin's lips on hers. After a minute, Justin pulled away and started to apologize, but Erin stopped him. 'Don't speak,' she whispered, pulling him back for another kiss, 'Unless you want to stop.'
'Me stop? No, unless you do,' Justin responded, pressing his lips against Erin's neck gently. 'No, even if we should stop,' she moaned.
Justin gently kissed her neck before moving away and standing up, while Erin gazed at him with a questioning look. 'Are you certain you wish to proceed?' he inquired, expressing his concerns about not wanting to do anything that might frighten Erin.
Erin responded with a nod, stating, 'If you're ready, then I don't mind. However, we can wait if you're not ready to take things further just yet.' She leaned in to kiss his chin, causing Justin to close his eyes. 'I believe it might be wise for us to wait and become accustomed to being together,' Justin suggested, planting a kiss on her forehead.
Erin agreed, 'I think it's a good decision. I don't want to rush anything.' As they both rose from the couch with Justin's assistance, he proposed, 'Let's progress step by step.' Justin helped Erin up and mentioned, 'I should head off before my father starts calling to check on my whereabouts.' His comment elicited laughter from Erin.
'Likely so, and I have work in the morning. I'll see you during our break tomorrow, and I can take you to Antonio's gym,' Erin replied.
Justin nodded with a smile and stated, 'I am looking forward to it.' He then kissed her on the lips before departing the apartment, leaving Erin behind. 'Please, take care,' Erin said before Justin closed the door behind him.
Glancing back, Justin winked and reassured, 'Don't worry, I will. And you should also take care.' After closing the door, Erin secured it after Justin had left. Despite feeling a warm sentiment, she proceeded to her room to retire for the night before work, allowing her mind to wander once more.
