Banging on the door caused heads to turn in apprehension, Jane and Korsak standing from their chairs at the island counter, guns drawn and faces serious.

"Open up!" A familiar voice yelled.

Frankie. Jane and Korsak shared a look of relief as Jane went over to the door and let her little brother in.

"Is Ma here?"

"Yeah, she's right there."

"Oh, thank God."

"Honey, I'm right here."

Frankie's relief was clearly displayed on his face as he hugged his mother.

"Barkeep, will you get my friend a drink?"

"Yes, sir."

Angela handed her drink to Frankie as Jane came walking back to her chair, a frown on her face as she pulled her phone from the clip on her hip. The 'beep' of speed dial rang through the quiet kitchen.

"Who are you calling?"

"Maura," Jane answered softly. "She's at the office, right?"

"I think so."

Concern looks were rapidly exchanged between them as Jane waited for an answer. Just as Jane was about to say there was no answer, the line was picked up.

"Maura?"

"Jane."

A breath no one realized they were holding was released when they heard Maura's voice. Jane didn't have it on speaker, but it was loud enough and the room was quiet enough that Maura could be identified by her voice alone.

"Where are you?"

"I was called out to a crime scene at-"

Jane heard Maura gasp as her phone hit the ground.

"Maura?"

Muffled screams filled Jane's ear and her face went white as she listened to the distinct sounds of a struggle on the other end of the line, tears brimming her eyes.

"MAURA!"

Frankie, Korsak, and Angela were all speaking to her to try and figure out what was going on but Jane ignored them all as she ran out of the house, those tears brimming her eyes now trailing down her cheeks.
