Beast Wars: Far Away

Chapter 4: Lost

Disclaimer: I don't own Transformers nor Beast Wars

Once they figured they were far enough away, the three kids stopped at a small clearing. Valerie set Chloe down as she and Rory hunched over. Their hearts were beating loudly as they breathed heavily from all the running.

"I think... we... lost it," Valerie said tiredly.

It took a while for them to finally catch their breaths. Though they were far from relieved. Rory however started lightly chuckling.

"Did you see how I took down that bug?" he asked boastfully, "That was so cool!"

Valerie stared wide eyed at him in disbelief. "Cool?! Correct me if I'm wrong, but bugs aren't supposed to be that big!" She placed her hands on top of her head as she growled in frustration. "I knew we should have gone back to the gorge!"

Chloe had tears rolling down her cheeks. "I wanna go home!" she cried.

"Should have thought of that before you messed with the machine," Rory told her.

"Oh, says the guy who wanted to sell it!" Valerie snapped at him.

"How'd I know it was going to send us to another planet with giant bugs?!" Chloe exclaimed.

"Hey, don't worry," Rory told her, "that bug wont mess with us anymore thanks to yours truly."

"Oh please, you probably just made it angry," Valerie told him.

Rory frowned at his big sister. "I just saved our lives! What was your plan exactly? To keep running until it caught us?!"

The three then heard a roar from far away, making them freeze in place. More animal sounds were heard, but with an ominous feel to it. The siblings huddled closer together as they fearfully looked around the area.

"Are we going to die here?" Chloe whimpered.

"Most likely," Rory straight out answered.

"No! No, we're not!" Valerie said sternly as she gave her brother a frown. She looked at her scared little sister and tried to comfort her. "We're going to be okay as long as we stick together."

Chloe cried as she tightly hugged her sister. "This is all my fault! I shouldn't have touched that machine! I'm so sorry!"

Valerie held her close as she tried calming her. "Shhhh. It's okay, Chloe. We're going to get out of here. We just have to get back to the machine."

Rory glanced at their surroundings. "Uuh, quick question... which way is it?"

The three looked around, seeing nothing but trees and other plant life around them. There was no sign of the crevice anywhere.

Valerie threw her arms up in frustration. "Great. We're lost... again!"

"Pretty sure none of this would have happened if we had just stayed home today," Rory pointed out, "just saying."

Valerie had enough as she glared at her brother. "You know what, that's it. Come here, Rory!"

The boy yelped as his big sister angrily chased him around in circles. Valerie constantly tried cutting him off as she went to grab him.

Chloe watched as her siblings ran around her. "Valerie, Rory, please stop fighting!" she pleaded, only to be ignored.

Finally, Valerie caught Rory and got him in a headlock under her arm.

"Hey! Let go!" the boy angrily exclaimed as he tried to break free. Getting an idea, he evilly smirked as he turned his head and licked his sister's arm.

This of course disgusted the oldest. "EEEW!" Valerie exclaimed as she released her brother and wiped her arm off. "You are so gross!"

Rory triumphantly laughed as he got away from her. "Sucker!"

Valerie growled in frustration. Looking down at the wet dirt she was standing in, she picked up a handful and threw it at the boy.

Rory shrieked as he saw the mud coming for him. He ducked down in time before the muck could hit him in the face. It soared over his head and landed behind the bush. The three then heard a loud squeal, making them fearfully freeze.

"W-what was that?" Chloe asked.

The three then heard rustling as Rory and Chloe hurried to Valerie and hid behind her. To their horror, a wild boar emerged from the bushes. It had been sleeping soundly before being rudely awakened by the mud thrown at its face. It looked at the kids and locked eyes with them.

All eyes fearfully widened at the beast.

"Oh c-crap," Valerie stammered.

"M-maybe it's f-friendly," Chloe whimpered.

The boar angrily snorted and stomped its hoof at them.

"W-why don't you g-go pet it th-then if it's s-so friendly?" Rory asked his little sister.

"J-just s-stay quiet and back away s-slowly," Valerie quietly told her siblings, "Any s-sudden movements and it c-could charge."

Just then a rock was thrown at the boar, hitting it in the shoulder. The boar squealed even louder at this.

Valerie was wide eyed as she looked at Rory who had another rock in hand. "Why did you do that?!" she exclaimed.

"What?!" he asked, "I thought it would scare it away!"

The boar however stomped its hoof twice and glared at the three.

"I th-think you only m-made it angrier," Chloe said.

Rory realized the mistake he made as he nervously gulped and dropped the rock.

Letting out an angry squeal, the boar charged.

The three kids screamed as they leaped out of the way, making the boar run right into a tree with hanging vines. It got tangled in the vines and started thrashing around.

"RUN!" Valerie shouted.

The three took off running as the boar continued struggling to free itself. Once it tore the vines off, it chased after the kids.

"Where's Astrix and Obelix when you need them?!" Rory fearfully exclaimed.

Valerie looked over her shoulder to see the boar picking up speed. She knew they couldn't outrun it. "Quick, up the trees!" she shouted.

She quickly helped Chloe up a tree before climbing up herself. Rory ran to another tree and climbed up at lightning speed.

The three managed to get off the ground in time as the boar came charging over. Chloe cried as she sat on a branch and hugged the tree trunk. Valorie managed to pull herself up and get on the other side of the tree from Chloe. On the other tree, Rory had is arms and legs wrapped around the tree trunk fifteen feet off the ground.

The boar stopped in front of the tree where the middle child was. It angrily squealed as it stomped its hoof at the boy.

Rory looked down at the creature and laughed. "HA! Stupid pig!"

The hog rammed its head into the tree, making Rory shut up as he held on for dear life.

Chloe's eyes widened when she heard a cracking sound underneath. Just then she shrieked as the branch she was on snapped off, making her drop five feet to the ground.

"Chloe!" Valerie shouted fearfully.

The girl landed on her back with a thud, making her grunt from the impact. Though her backpack cushioned her fall, she still groaned from the landing.

Hearing her, the boar turned its attention away from Rory and towards the vulnerable girl.

"Chloe, run!" Rory shouted.

Feeling sore from the fall, Chloe sat up and timidly looked at the wild boar now glaring at her. Her eyes went wide as the boar prepared to charge.

Valerie immediately jumped down and frantically waved her arms. HEY!" she shouted, gaining the boar's attention. "OVER HERE!" She even picked up a rock and threw it at the beast.

The boar stepped away as the rock hit near its feet. It looked over at Valerie who was still waving her arms at it.

The teen moved sideways away from Chloe as she made sure the boar was only focusing on her. She felt her heart racing as the hog snarled at her. It reminded her of the time she encountered her neighbor's mean old dog when she was Chloe's age. She had kicked her favorite red ball over the fence and went to get it, only to receive a not so friendly welcome from the large Doberman. She was terrified as the dog growled and ran towards her. Thankfully the dog was leashed and was unable to reach her.

However, there was nothing to hold back the boar.

Trying to stay brave for her sister, Valerie continued shouting at the beast. "TH-THAT'S RIGHT! COME AND GET ME!"

The boar charged at the teen. Valerie frantically turned around and ran, wanting the animal far away from her sister. The boar was already picking up speed as it angrily squealed.

Running towards the nearest tree, Valerie leaped up, grabbed onto a branch and swung her legs up in time. She let out a shriek as the boar ran right underneath her at the last second.

Chloe was so scared. Her heart was racing in her chest as tears ran down her cheeks. In a state of panic, she scrambled back onto her feet and ran as fast as she could out of there.

Valerie managed to climb up the tree as the boar tried to get at her. It squealed loudly as it tried to jump up with its little stumpy legs. Valerie only climbed higher as she distanced herself from the animal.

After what felt like a lifetime, the boar finally gave up and ran off, leaving the kids alone.

Both Valerie and Rory sighed in relief before climbing back down.

"I'm really starting to hate the jungle," Valerie said with a frown.

Rory lightly chuckled. "You sure dodged that one, hey Chloe?" he asked as he looked over to where his sister was. But she wasn't there. "Chloe?"

Valerie and Rory looked around but saw no sign of their sister.

"Chloe?!" Valerie called out.

No response. Fear was taking hold as the two frantically looked around and shouted out her name in unison.

"CHLOE?!"

Chloe didn't stop running as she sped past the trees. Her heart was racing as she panted heavily. She didn't dare to turn around in case the boar was chasing her.

Soon she grew tired and couldn't run anymore. She stopped and fell on her knees as she breathed heavily. She couldn't help but whimper as her tears escaped from her eyes.

She felt ashamed for running, especially after Valerie told her they had to stick together. But she was too scared to go back. She didn't want the boar to get her. But what if it got Valerie and Rory? What if it was just her now? What was she going to do?!

"Chloe?!"

Chloe snapped her head up when she heard a voice calling her name. It sounded like it was right behind her, but with static.

"Chloe, please answer me!"

It was Valerie! Remembering her sister packed a walkie talkie into her backpack, she opened the side pouch and pulled out the device.

"Chloe, are you there?!" her sister frantically asked.

Chloe wasted no time in answering. "Valerie, I'm here!"

"Oh, thank goodness," Valerie said in relief over the static.

"What are you trying to do, give us a heart attack?!" Rory exclaimed with a combination of relief, worry, and anger in his voice.

"Are you okay?" Valerie asked worryingly, "where are you?!"

"I- I don't know," Chloe whimpered as she looked around, "there's lots of trees around me."

"Gee, thanks. That really helps us out," Rory said sarcastically, "not like we're in a jungle or anything!"

"Shut up, Rory," Valerie said sternly.

"Is the boar still there?" Chloe asked.

"No, it's gone," her sister assured her, "listen, I need you to stay where you are. We're coming to find you, okay?"

Just then the girl noticed something moving in the corner of her eye. Hesitantly, Chloe looked over to see a spider crawling up a tree trunk. Her eyes widened as she fearfully gasped. It was practically the size of her whole hand! Its legs were very long, and she could see the black eight eyes on it. Valerie and Rory kept saying her name on the walkie talkie, but she was too scared to even hear them. Soon it became too much for her as she let out a scream.

"AAAAAAAAAH!"

Immediately she scrambled away from the tree. Scared the arachnid was going to hurt her, she got up and continued running.

"Chloe? Are you there?" Valerie asked. However the further Chloe ran, the worse the static got. "Chloe, please... Chloe!... Where are...! Wh..."

Chloe ran through the bushes and passed the trees as she constantly looked around. She stopped for a moment to catch her breath. Just then she saw a large yellow snake poking its head down from a tree, looking very curiously at her. Letting out another scream, the girl continued running further down into the jungle.

She remembered the scene from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves where Snow White was running through the forest, and she saw monsters everywhere. That scene always scared the six-year-old. And now she felt she was living it.

Chloe let out a shriek as her foot slipped in the mud and made her fall on her butt. She found herself sliding down the wet slope of a hill as she slid into bushes and huge leaves. She screamed as she slid down rapidly, having to even shield her face from the oncoming leaves hitting her on the way down. Once she reached the bottom, she ended up on her back and came to a stop. She stared wide eyed up at the sky as she breathed heavily from the adrenaline. After a moment, she finally calmed down and sat up. She groaned once she noticed how dirty she was. But she soon learned that was the least of her problems when she looked at her surroundings.

She was even more lost. She didn't know if she was imagining it, but it looked darker all of a sudden. All she could hear was a bird cawing far off from somewhere. It was like being in a horror movie.

Growing even more fearful, Chloe looked at the walkie talkie still in her hand and tried talking to her sister. Her hand was shaking badly as she pressed the button.

"V-Valerie?" she asked.

All she received was static. The walkie talkie's signal was weak as something interfered with the connection.

"V-Valerie, are y-y-you th-there?" she asked as her voice shook.

Nothing.

Chloe was on the verge of tears. "V-Val, please answer!"

Nothing.

After several failed attempts, Chloe then tried calling out. "VALORIE! RORY! I'M HERE!"

There was no reply. Unable to control herself, she broke down into tears. She sobbed uncontrollably as she covered her face with her hands. She had never felt so scared before in all her life. And the worst part was she was all alone.

Needing something to comfort her, she pulled her stuffed cheetah out of her backpack and hugged it tight. She wanted to go home so badly. She wanted to find her siblings but was scared to even move. What if she ran into another creature that wanted to hurt her?

She sniffled as she hugged her cheetah. Why do I have to be so scared all the time? she asked herself.

She hated being scared. She always cried when she was. Some of the kids she knew would constantly tease her for it. Rory being one of them. She wanted to be brave like her sister, but she felt so small. She didn't know what to do.

"Hello?!"

Chloe immediately stopped crying once she heard a male voice calling out from a short distance away. But it wasn't Rory's voice. She looked around but saw no one.

"W-who's there?!" she asked.

Just then she heard a rustling sound in the bushes. Immediately she stood up and fearfully looked around. Something or someone was getting closer. She uncontrollably shook as the rustling grew louder. All of a sudden it stopped. Seconds went by and she didn't hear anymore rustling. She stood there and nervously looked around.

"H-hello?" she asked.

Then to her surprise, a cheetah emerged from the bush in front of her. Soon as it saw her, its green eyes widened in surprise as its jaw dropped, revealing its sharp teeth.

Seeing the wild cat however only made the girl terrified.

"AAAAAAAAAAAH!" Chloe screamed at the creature.

"AAAAAAAAAAAH!" the startled cheetah screamed back.

"AAAAAAAAAAAH!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Chloe grabbed her backpack and ran for it, leaving the confused cheetah behind.

"Hey, wait!" the same voice called out as the cheetah chased after her.

Needing a place to hide, Chloe ducked behind a large tree. She covered her mouth and remained very still as she heard the cheetah's footsteps approaching.

"Hey! Where'd you go?!" the voice asked. It sounded adolescent, maybe about Valerie's age. But where was it coming from? She poked her head around, expecting to find someone there. Instead, she saw the same cheetah looking around for her. She hid back and tried to fight back her tears. She wanted to call out for help, but she didn't want the cheetah to find her. Maybe if she was really quiet, she could sneak away and-

"Hello?"

She froze. The voice sounded like it came from the other side of the tree. She was scared to look. She didn't want to be seen by the cheetah. But if the person is right there, maybe the cheetah left the area. Hesitantly, she looked around the tree, only to be greeted by the same green eyes.

"Hiya!" the cheetah said with a smile.

"AAAAAH!" Chloe screamed as she fell backwards. Immediately she curled up and tried to shield herself from the large cat.

"Whoa, hey easy!" the cheetah said as he stepped out from around the tree, "I'm not gonna hurt you."

Chloe fearfully looked at the animal as realization slowly sunk into her head. It was talking! The voice was coming from the cheetah the whole time! But how?!

Realizing he was scaring her, the cheetah backed away and sat down. He looked at her apologetically. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. Are you okay?"

Chloe stared in shock at him. She still couldn't believe he was talking to her. She continued staring as she nervously clutched her toy cheetah.

The cheetah looked down at her stuffed toy. "Hey, that's a cool toy!" he said with a smile, "It looks just like me!"

Chloe hugged her stuffed toy as she slowly uncurled herself. Wiping away her tears, she sat up and studied the cheetah. He didn't look menacing at all. Only curious. She looked at her stuffed cheetah and held it up for the wild cat to see it better. "H-her name's Spot."

The cheetah smiled at her. "That's a cool name. My name's Cheetor! What's yours?"

The girl sniffled as she brought her toy back into her arms. "C-Chloe."

"Nice to meet you, Chloe," Cheetor said. He looked at her curiously. "You're human, aren't you?"

Chloe nodded.

His eyes lit up with excitement. "Whoa! I've never seen a human before! I've heard a lot about humans. You're definitely a lot smaller than I imagined."

"And you're... more talkative than I imagined for a cheetah," Chloe said.

Cheetor laughed. "Touche."

A soft smile made its way onto the girl's face as she let out a small giggle. Feeling more comfortable, she stood up and slowly approached him. "Do all cheetahs talk here?" she asked.

He chuckled. "Nah. Just me. Hope you don't mind me asking, but what are you doing all the way here? Also, how did you get here?"

"I was with my big sister and brother before we got separated," Chloe said sadly.

Cheetor's eyes widened. "There's three of you?!"

"There was a boar that was trying to attack us, and I ran away," she said as her tears began forming. "I didn't mean to! I was so scared that I panicked! And now I'm lost and I don't know where my brother and sister are!" She started crying again as she hugged her toy.

Cheetor stood up and stepped towards her as she cried. "Hey, hey, it's okay," he said, trying to comfort her, "I'll help you find your brother and sister."

She sniffled as she looked up at him. "Really?"

"Cross my spots," he promised as he crossed his chest with his paw. "I might be able to sniff them out."

"But what if we run into anything that wants to hurt us?" she asked fearfully.

He gave her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry. I can handle a few bullies. I won't let anything hurt you. I promise."

Chloe still felt uneasy, but at least she wasn't alone anymore. She smiled at the cat. "Thank you, Cheetor."

The cheetah smiled back. "Just stick close to me, okay?"

The girl nodded. Soon as she put her backpack on, the two walked together as Cheetor tried to sniff out her siblings.

Chloe couldn't believe she was walking beside a cheetah! And a talking one at that! It was like being in a dream. Though her worry kept interfering with her excitement. She prayed that her siblings were alright as she stuck close to her new friend.

Unknown to the two, they were being watched from above.

The same green wasp from earlier hovered beside the edge of a cliff. There he spotted the little girl down below with the cheetah.

"See?!" Waspinator buzzed, "human!"

Stepping closer to the edge, a large purple tyrannosaurus rex looked down at the human girl with interest. "Hmm, so there are humans here," it said in a deep menacing voice, "how very interesting."

Three other figures looked over the edge. A red pterodactyl, a large purple-grey scorpion, and a large purple tarantula. They too were surprised by the new visitor.

The tarantula looked down at the human girl with its eight eyes. "Well, what do you know," it said in a scratchy voice, "Waspinator was right."

"They must have arrived here by ship," the scorpion guessed as it snapped its claws, "there could be more of them!"

The t-rex then frowned at the wasp. "Speaking of which, I thought you said there were three, Waspinator!"

"There are!" Waspinator said, "other fleshy bots must be elsewhere! Waspinator go find fleshy bots and capture them!"

The t-rex darkly chuckled. "Why bother looking for them when the maximal can lead us straight to them?" He looked at the girl and cheetah walking away. "We'll just simply follow without them knowing, and then strike once the humans are reunited." The large dinosaur then looked at the two fliers. "Waspinator, Terrorsaur, follow them from the sky. Soon as you see the other two, apprehend them."

The pterodactyl maliciously smirked. "This will be fun."

The two fliers then flew off before the purple t-rex turned its attention to the two arachnids. "As for the three of us, we will pursue on foot. And should anyone interfere... destroy them!"

"Sir, yes, Sir!" the scorpion said with a solute.

The tarantula maliciously cackled. "With pleasure."

The t-rex evilly grinned as it looked down at the jungle. "These humans may prove to be quite useful. Yeeees!"

Dun dun daaaah! Fight scenes coming up plus more introductions for chapter 5. I hope you all liked this chapter and hopefully I will post again soon. Until next time! God bless!
