"Can you shut up and let me do my work for 5 seconds?"
"No can do, ma'am."
"Call me ma'am again and I'll tear your face off."
A loud chuckle escaped from me as I watched Roxanne do her make up, noticing her snarl in the mirror.
After I'd come back in from my smoke earlier, I spent some more time in Roxy's Raceway with Roxanne and watched as she worked on her karts. For an animatronic, she was surprisingly elegant and professional as she worked on her stuff. She clearly cared about her raceway and honestly, that was admirable. As for my skepticism towards their sentience, I'd already decided to just let that completely go. It was clear to me that the animatronics here, at least the Glamrocks so far, were way more than just regular animatronics that I'd seen many times before in the past. I knew that technology had advanced a shit ton in recent years, but I never expected that it would get to this anytime soon.
When my shift had officially started at 12AM, Mike had found me as I was walking back with Roxanne to her room to give me my official security badge and uniform. After a moment that involved the wolf chuckling at my new uniform and me sticking my tongue out at her (I'm a mature adult, as you can clearly see), causing Mike to smirk, I'd gone to put on my badge and the uniform and found Roxanne back at her room. Just before I'd gone in there however, I'd seen the other 3 Glamrocks in their rooms and decided to officially meet them. Freddy from what I'd gathered was very mature and very, very intelligent, if not more so than Roxanne in some ways. He came across as a father figure type of character. He was very friendly and accepting of me as the new night guard almost immediately. Certainly a charming character for sure. After him was Chica. To say that the bird was energetic was a giant understatement. She was way too excited to see a new night guard but again, the same as Freddy, she was very friendly so I didn't mind. I actually found her energetic reaction to be fairly endearing and funny. Last but not least was Montgomery Gator or Monty for short. He was a lot stronger than the other animatronics it seemed, or at least stronger than Chica and Roxanne. He was bench pressing one of his metal tables when I walked in. Yes, a fucking metal table, not a chair. Mad shit.
Overall though, he seemed fairly chill. Quite down to Earth. He reminded me of one of those guys who are chill as hell with you so long as you don't get on their bad side. As soon as you do though...yeah, they'll absolutely decimate you. That's what he reminded me of. Can't say that I didn't enjoy our talk though.
And now here we are. Back in full circle in the wolf's room, who was currently still staring daggers at me for constantly interrupting her make up session.
"Listen kid..."
I pointed. "Daemon."
She rolled her eyes, returning them to the mirror, clearly admiring herself with her smug expression. "Whatever. Look, I can appreciate that you actually took enough interest in me and my raceway to constantly bugger me as long as you've been here tonight, but can you just let me finish this make up? Either that or go bother someone else."
I smirked. "Sorry but I've already bothered the rest of the gang. Anyway, I need to actually go and do the rest of my job soon, so enjoy me while you have me." I wasn't lying either. My official job roles were to watch the cameras to make sure nothing funny was going on, sometimes help the cleaner bots clean up if they were struggling or help the occasional dayshift guard if he had to do overtime for whatever reason. That and obviously watching over the animatronics to make sure they were all fine and dandy. So far, it wasn't actually too bad and it was only currently 2AM.
Scoffing, she put down her make up bits and bobs and stood up, admiring herself again in the mirror. "You're joking right? If anything it's you who should be enjoying me while you have me. Not many people get to spend this much time with the glorious Roxanne Wolf. I am the best after all."
Okie dokie then, that was the first time that she'd spoken in the third person so far. A bit strange but from our previous conversation in the raceway and how much she ogled herself in the mirror, it wasn't too surprising I suppose. Roxanne was so full of herself that a blind man who was completely shit faced could see it. Strangely though, it didn't bother me. It was more amusing than annoying. I stood up and stretched my limbs for a second, walking towards the door and waving behind me. "Whatever makes you happy, Roxanne. I'll see you later. Got stuff to do." I looked behind and saw her still staring at herself in the mirror. This fucking wolf.
"Mkay. Feel free to get lost on your way back so I don't have to deal with you again tonight."
Alright, slightly cold there. Before I could think anything about it though, I saw the tinniest bit of a smirk in the reflection of her mirror. The fucker. Almost had me there for a second.
I didn't reply and instead just shrugged as I walked out of her room and closed the door. To say that the wolf was an anomaly was an obvious statement. I looked around me and saw nothing in the giant hallway of Rockstar Row. I guess the other animatronics were still sat in their rooms? It was getting late after all. I headed towards the nearest security office, which Mike had shown me earlier during our impromptu tour, and sighed. This was going to be a long rest of the night.
"Is that Mike?" It was currently 3AM. I'd been sat in the security office watching the cameras for a solid hour or so and I'd not seen anything out of the sorts. I'd seen a few of the cleaning bots doing their thing and not much else. Oh, Sun did turn into Moon a bit ago. Mike had told me about the daycare attendant's alter ego earlier. I found it slightly creepy how he would crawl around everywhere but he wasn't hurting anything. He roamed around the facility a bit but he didn't do much else. He eventually went back to the daycare and had been in there since. Currently though, I'd seen Mike on one of the cameras in the lobby heading towards me. "Wonder what he wants? Probably checking in on me or something."
I heard a knock at one of the heavy office doors. I opened it and low and behold, in walked Mike. He looked quite tired but that wasn't surprising, given the time and all. He glanced at the cameras for a second and nodded, giving me a thumbs up.
"Looks like you're doing a great job so far, Daemon. Seen anything unusual or is everything hunky dory?"
I nodded back and returned his gesture. "Looks all good to me, boss. Are you heading out?"
He did his office uniform up slightly and grabbed one of the keys on the desk before heading back towards the door. "Yeah. I finish at 3:30AM most days, including today. You alright to stay here until the rest of the dayshift crew arrive at 6AM?"
I waved it off, putting my feet up for a moment on the desk. "Sure, no worries. It's not actually been too bad so far. The animatronics seem really interesting." He smiled.
"That's nice to hear. Mhm, they're a good group really. I saw you take a keen interest in Roxanne specifically. How's she been treating you? She can be a bit..."
I chuckled for a moment before regaining my composure. "Narcissistic?"
He slightly frowned at that and gave a shrug in response. "I wouldn't put it like that honestly but yes, she can be very...hm, proud of herself, let's say."
I could agree with that. I wasn't entirely sure why she was so proud of herself just yet but alas, it wasn't that big of a deal. It hadn't gotten annoying yet or anything and she hadn't really been that much of a dick to me yet. A bit of banter here and there was fine with me, like the moments we'd had tonight with our little quips towards each other and such.
"I can agree with that, yeah. She's fine though. She at least has a sense of humour. From what I've experienced so far, all of the Glamrock animatronics are really cool. You guys did an amazing job building their AI for sure."
He nodded in thanks and rubbed the back of his neck. "Eh, I appreciate the words but they weren't our original designs. We aqquired the designs from someone else. It isn't important who but suffice to say, they've done wonders for Fazbear Entertainment and they're always really good with the kids and adult customers, like the parents."
I raised an eyebrow at that answer. Who else could have come up with this type of technology? I'd have to follow that up with him sometime in the next week.
"Anyway, you can head back out of here and do whatever you please for now. It seems that nothing is happening, which is a common occurence here at this time of night, thankfully. If you think anything is happening though, make sure to come back here and check. I'll give you my phone number as well, just in case anything serious happens, however unlikely."
I nodded and took down his number in my phone, although I couldn't see anything happening what was that serious that I needed to phone him at this type of hour. Alas I took it anyway, thanked him and he went on his way. Having nothing better to do, I spent 5 more minutes in the office and then headed back to Rockstar Row. Suppose seeing what the animatronics were up to now wouldn't hurt anyone.
CRASH
"Erm, you alright there bud?" I asked as I looked at the now fallen cleaner bot. What a loss to the world. Our saviour and lord, the cleaner bot.
For some much needed context, I had arrived to Rockstar Row once again only to see this specific bot doing its job. Once it had seen me, it had waved me over. I had found out quickly that while these cleaning bots weren't as "basic" as I thought, they weren't anywhere near as intelligent as the Glamrocks and hell, even the Daycare attendant. Once it had waved me over, it shook me hand to which I graciously accepted and it fell over by somehow slipping on the spillage that it was mopping up. Water, I think, nothing too gross. Still, I was stiffling back a laugh as I helped it back up to its fee..wait, not feet. It was more so like it had inbuilt roller skates? Pretty cool.
It nodded in thanks and started to mop again. I presumed it noticed that I was new so it wanted to greet me. How nice.
"Hello there, Daemon. Lovely to see you again." To say that I royally shit myself would be telling the complete truth. I slightly jumped and spun around, seeing Freddy there with a curious look on his face.
"Are you okay? Do you require assistance?" I sighed, calming myself down. Talk about a fucking jumpscare. I suddenly had PTSD flashbacks of playing the Slender game at 5AM back in the day with my friends only to turn around at 6 pages and see the skinny dickhead staring at me.
Man, those were good days. I really need to play that again sometime.
I shook my head and chuckled, trying to subtly act as if that didn't just scare me out of my skin. Judging by the look that was currently on Freddy's face, that I could describe as slight amusement alongside curiousity, it didn't work. Drat. My acting skills aren't as good as I thought. No career in acting for me.
"Hi Freddy. I'm good at the moment, thank you. I was on my way back here to see if anything needed doing and to see what you guys were up to only to be waved over by this here cleaner bot..." I motioned towards the afformentioned bot, which shot us both a quick thumbs up. Pretty cute. "...And then it fell over as it was trying to mop up this spillage. I helped it up and I was going to see if I could help it with anything but it seems fine now. I think?"
Freddy glanced at the bot behind me, it giving him another thumbs up, while he looked back at me and shook his head. "The cleaning bots can be quite...peculiar at times. Do not mind them. They mean well enough."
shsshhss
I looked behind Freddy at the strange noise and realised that it was one of the animatronic's room doors that had just opened. It was Roxanne's.
Of course it was.
She walked over to us, looking at the cleaner bot with mild confusion and irritation as she did. "Let me guess, the stupid bot fell over again?"
I wasn't facing the cleaner bot anymore but I could just tell that it was hurt by that comment. Either that or it probably didn't even acknowledge it, I wasn't sure. I'll stick with the latter for simplicity's sake. Freddy looked at her like a disappointed father would look at their child after it had done something fucking stupid.
"Roxanne! Do not use that language towards the cleaner bot, please. They are our friends." Roxanne rolled her eyes at him and looked at me.
"Daemon. Why are you here again already? Getting bored without me already?" She shot a smug ass smirk at me, but hell, at least she actually used my name for the first time. Making progress.
"Oh yeah, I couldn't wait to see you again. That's precisely why I ended up back here, not that it's my new job or anything."
The smirk disappeared as soon as it came, replaced by a snarky scowl. "That was pretty awful sarcasm and you should feel bad."
"No you"
Being the shit head that I am, I internally laughed when I saw the sudden confusion on her face. "What?"
I whistled as I tried to put on the most innocent face ever. Which, for me, probably looked sarcastic as all hell. "Oh nothing."
I casually forgot that Freddy was still here. I glanced at him and noticed that he was rolling his eyes in slight amusement. "In any case, if you do not need assistance Daemon, I will be on my way. I have some things to prepare for tomorrow's performance. Take care and please do not hesitate to come to my room if you need anything." I nodded in thanks and watched him walk off, noticing that Roxanne was busy scoffing.
"What's up with you?" She looked at me and then back at Freddy.
"Nothing. It's just Freddy tires me out sometimes. He's a great friend and leader of the group but sometimes...he can be a bit much when he gives you the disappointed father stare." Alright, apparently she can read minds now. Creepy.
"Huh. Funny. Great minds think alike, I suppose."
"Clearly you weren't thinking the same as me, then."
"Nice try, Wolf. Come up with something more original. Anyway, mind if I come and stay in your room for a bit longer?"
She raised an eyebrow and stared at me like I was an alien asking for cookies. Not the best analogy but I'm rolling with it.
She suddenly started sporting a sly smirk on her face. Oh.
"It seems like you actually can't get enough of me. Damn. I knew my charms worked fast on people but not that fast."
I walked towards her door and scoffed. "Whatever makes you feel better about yourself, Wolf. If you want the actual reason, I don't have anything better to do right now and while the other animatronics are cool and friendly, you're the one I've had some banter with already, so I'd rather spend that time with you."
I heard her stop in her tracks behind me. Why did she stop? Was it something I said? I turned around and stared at her. She was...staring back at me in shock? It wore off as quickly as I noticed it though as she shook her head and walked over to me.
"Just come on. I suppose I can put up with you for a bit longer." She walked past me and the door opened, with me following and smirking to myself.
"Seems that you're not so cold after all, huh, Wolf?"
