Chapter 5: Introduction
Standing in the back corner, Meredith tried to listen to the speech that Chief Webber was soliciting to the crowd. It was your typical have a dream, aim for excellence some of you will make it some of you will fail, competitive speech that she had grown up hearing every day. Being the daughter of Ellis Grey allowed her to be a step above the rest and while her fellow interns were seeking and checking out their competition in the room, Meredith was confident enough that she allowed herself to seek out another kind of distraction. Namely Derek Shepherd.
Watching as he stood next to Mark, she took in his dark raven locks, the mesmerizing blue eyes that bore a resemblance to a clear summer sky, and that five o'clock shadow that was a constant reminder of how rough his cheeks felt with his head buried between her legs.
Shifting uncomfortably as she felt the moisture pool, she flinched as Cristina elbowed her in the ribs.
"Stop with the eye sex already, you're making me sick" Cristina whispered in annoyance.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Yeah whatever. It's so hot between the two of you I think I'm going to have an orgasm."
Two of their fellow interns turned around and hushed them, causing Cristina to shoot daggers back. Groaning, Meredith just smiled and silently apologized as she tried to pay attention to what Webber was rambling on about now. Somehow, she kept being drawn back to the same demanding stare and though avoidance was usually a game she had perfected… Today, in the OR, she found herself unable to avoid his penetrating gaze along with the desire that was shooting through her like heroin to an addict.
Derek watched her. Watched as she shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot. Watched as she tried to avoid his stare. He knew he should be paying attention, preparing for what he would be saying to his new group of followers. The only thing running through his mind was how quickly he could get her alone and out of her clothes.
After she left that night, he'd found himself constantly thinking about her. Wanting her. Needing to feel those milky white thighs wrapped around him just one more time to quench this ever-satiable desire to fuck her. It was dirty and vulgar and yet in some secret way, he knew that it somehow stretched further than just raw sex.
She was dark and twisty. A loner who had been hurt way too much and the way that pain played in those deep green eyes called out to him to save her, but he knew from the few moments he's spent in her presence she wasn't the sort of girl seeking out a knight and shining armor. Finding himself chuckling out loud, he stared at the honey blonde temptress. He knew she was more than capable of fighting her own battles.
Hearing his name spoken above the crowd, he took a deep breath, he winked in her direction and walked further into the middle of the room.
Standing directly in front of her, Derek leaned back against a table, arms crossed he began speaking. As the words rolled off his tongue, he knew that he was mainly speaking to her, "Good morning. I'm Derek Shepherd head of Neurology here at Seattle Grace."
"I have already had the pleasure of getting to know a few of you, but I am sure over the next few months we will get to know each other quite well." Nodding, he smiled wickedly her way. He stood up straighter and began to walk around, "I'm demanding, serious in my work, nothing short of perfection is what I aim for, and I will expect nothing short of that from you." watching as she tilted her head and smiled, he knew she was thinking of the many times they had brought that same perfection to one another-neither one of them willing to give in to release without the other.
"My goal is to teach you how to become better Doctors, to perk your interest in my field and teach you just how exciting it can be. I will work closely with many of you—I'm sure we will find ourselves working long hours together. At times, I'm sure you will find me demanding, I'm also sure the end will be quite worth it."
Meredith stood there watching as he prowled the room like an animal. Taking control of the situation, his words hypnotized many of the other women and somehow, she found herself battling two emotions. One-satisfaction that she had experienced first-hand what these women were fantasizing about. While they were standing here imagining the hot Neurosurgeon naked-she had the image burned to memory. As they imagined how it would feel to have those luscious lips upon their own, pillaging their mouths in a brutal and yet pleasurable attack, she could recall in detail exactly how soft and yet demanding they were as they traveled over her body seeking out pleasure points she had no idea existed. She stood there knowing they were imagining how it would feel to have him lying between their thighs, she bit her lip as heat exploded through her veins because the memories were so vivid, she could steel feel the intensity of his thrust as his body invaded hers to the innermost depths until her pussy wept in ecstasy.
These desire laden emotions were the cause of her second inner battle-jealousy. Watching the dirty that filled her fellow interns' eyes, she knew they were prowlers on the hunt, and she didn't want to share her prey-even if she was running from it herself. The idea of Derek making love to another woman or paying them the same kind of attention he had bestowed upon her sent a pang of jealousy twisting into her gut and she didn't enjoy it-not one bit.
She didn't do jealousy. Not when she had found Finn in the torrid situation with his blonde bimbo and not in all the failed one nighters of her past…no she was the type who avoided emotions because they were just a waste of time. Why was it as she stood here, eyes clashing with the cocky Doctor did she have the urge to scratch out the eyes of the women who even dared to bat an eye or smile in invite? Yeah, this just wouldn't do.
Finishing up the speech that he was sure bored half the interns to death, he watched as her distant look of desire turned to one of fire. He loved watching her and it didn't all have to do with her striking looks, though that was the greatest part, no he enjoyed the inner battle that was wrenching through her because he knew it was her trying to fight off her attraction to him and he was going to win this game, he knew without a doubt he would have her again. As a matter of fact, he wasn't even sure he would make it through the day without claiming the sweet body again, "okay so you will need to see your residents first. They will walk you through staff procedures, pagers, protocol, and such and then they will assign you to your attending's for the day. Does anyone have any questions?"
Nodding, he returned the floor to Webber and exited the room. Feeling her eyes on his back he wanted nothing more than to wrench her out of the room and find the nearest on call room, but that would have to wait-because he was sure by the end of the day he would have her coming to him.
Concentrate. Meredith muttered to herself under her breath. Yes, concentration was what she needed to make sure she was doing. Even though she could feel Cristina's eyes boring through her as if some flesh-eating virus, she had to remained focused on breathing.
"He must have been good."
"What?"
"Shepherd must have been really good because I have never known any man to do this to you."
"Do what?"
"Reduce you to a female oblivion of mush. It's really pathetic Meredith."
"I'm not-he didn't. He wasn't-I mean he was, is but…"
"Yeah like I said pathetic."
Turning towards Cristina Meredith slumped against the wall "what am I going to do?"
Rolling her eyes she started to speak and stopped mid-sentence, "that's her."
Standing up, Meredith scanned the crowd not seeing what Cristina was looking at "Who?"
"The Nazi."
Meredith watched the small black woman lead a group of fresh interns in their direction. The stern look upon her face was a no nonsense type of game and fire flared to life in her eyes as she spoke to three wide eyed interns following her lead.
"Yang! Grey! You two just going to stand there or are you going to at least try to show some interest in your program? After all you were selected out of hundreds to work at Seattle Grace that means there are hundreds left to take your place!"
Grimacing, Meredith glanced over at Cristina and then joined in following the stout woman down the hall.
"I have five rules, don't break them and we'll all be happy campers…"
Meredith tried to pay attention, she heard key words such as patient dying and running. She knew that this was the start of a very important time, that Bailey held her career in the palm of her hands and learning her rules was learning the key to success. Yet, she was off and running once again in fantasy land as she passed Derek standing with a fellow doctor. His smile filled with knowing and seduction as he nodded, and she sighed feeling defeated as the arousal once again flared to life.
Just as she was giving up on winning this game, just when she thought things could not get any worse Bailey's words broke through her reverie, "Grey-you're with Shepherd."
Yes, this was going to be a very long start of her first shift…there was no way she would make it out of this game alive….
