*Flurry Heart's Pov*
Flurry Heart stood in utter disbelief at the horrifying scene before her in the throne room. Chaos and abandonment filled the once grand space. The tapestries, once pristine, now hung torn and disheveled from the walls, their colors dulled and streaked with dirt and grime. Shattered glass and porcelain littered the red carpet, hinting at a violent altercation that had unfolded in her absence. The majestic pillars, previously standing tall and regal, now bore deep gashes and claw marks, evidence of a fierce struggle. The candles, once casting a warm glow, now lay extinguished, drowned in their own melted wax. In the room's center, Flurry Heart's terror-stricken blue eyes landed on her mother, Princess Cadence, crumpled amidst the debris. Shining Armor was there, cradling her body with his hooves, and upon closer inspection, it appeared as though he had tried to shield her with his own frame. ''Mom! Dad!'' Cadence's once pristine coat was stained with blood and grime, no doubt about it that some of it belonged to Shining Armor. Flurry Heart's gaze then fell upon the small black vines slithering around both her parent's frame, a haunting sight that filled her to the brink with dread.
''Cadence! Shining Armor!'' gasped Celestia, her heart racing as together they raced towards the helpless prince and princess. ''Mom, don't move! I'm going to gently move dad's body.'' Flurry whispered as she concreted all her magical power, channeling it through her horn as a bright golden light filled the room. It didn't take long for her father's body to be gently moved, lifting his hooves from Cadence's body, as they were lowered softly to the ground. Then she got to work on the vines. Once touched by magic, the vines seemed to recoil momentarily, as her attempt to dispose of them, seemed slow - lived. They seemed to just crawl right back onto the princess with renewed vigor. ''No! Get lost!'' Flurry barked as she realized her magic may not be enough to help her mother. Quickly, she turned her eyes onto her aunt, Celestia, hoping for some sort of guidance. Princess Celestia's face was etched with concern, her usually serene expression now twisted with worry as she observed the scene before her. With a deep breath, she focused her own powerful magic, a radiant glow emanating from her horn as she joined Flurry Heart in the battle against the sinister vines that ensnared Princess Cadence.
As the two alicorns poured their magic into dispelling the dark vines, a sense of urgency filled the air. The vines writhed and twisted, fighting back with a malevolent force that seemed to grow stronger with each passing moment. Flurry Heart gritted her teeth, her determination unwavering as she refused to let fear overtake her. ''Uh! This isn't working! We're barely even making a dent! They just keep coming!'' barked Flurry Heart, anger and frustration creeping onto her cheeks, causing her face to turn red as slowly she slid a comforting hoof over her mother's body. ''I'm here, mom.'' she whispered through sobs of defeat. ''Flurry Heart.'' Princess Celestia said as she tried to tend to both her and Cadence, however she was shocked to see a new threat emerge from the shadows. A towering figure, its once vibrant colors now drained of all life, as it stalked towards them, movements jerky and unnatural. It was Twilight Sparkle, but not as they once knew her. Her eyes were missing, appearing with nothing but two black holes, hints of dried blood escaping down her cheeks from where they'd been removed. She had this twisted smile stained on her face, but that wasn't the most horrible part of all, the corners of her lips were pulled all the way, exposing the inside of her mouth, where no teeth could be seen. Her mane and tail was withered, hanging limp around a skeletal form, and her once elegant wings were missing along with her horn.
As she approached, Flurry Heart rose from her seat, a sense of dread washing over her. She attempted to communicate with Twilight, but her speech emerged garbled and distorted, more like guttural moans than coherent words. The Twilight Sparkle zombie's horrifying appearance left Princess Cadence and Princess Celestia frozen in place, their faces pale and their magic momentarily faltering. Flurry Heart, however, refused to succumb to fear, bravely stepping toward the abomination before her, determination etched on her face.''Auntie, Twi-Twi?'' she asked in a trembling voice, trying to reach her aunt and mentor despite the ghastly transformation. Flurry's hopeful inquiry was met with a menacing, mocking laugh from the Twilight Sparkle zombie, sending shivers down her spine. The zombie raised a hoof covered in vines and thorns, reaching towards Flurry, causing her heart to race as she involuntarily stepped back. Princess Celestia swiftly reacted, creating a powerful shield of shimmering light to protect Flurry Heart from the zombie's grasp. The vines recoiled at the touch of the magic, and the hooves retreated into the shadows.
The twisted form of Twilight Sparkle emitted guttural, garbled sounds, leaving the three ponies unaware of its intentions. It seemed the virus had not only infected their bodies but their minds too, stripping them of their voices and identities. Flurry Heart could see the vines had consumed Twilight's skin, eating away at her flank and erasing her cutie mark from existence. ''Please stop this. Please stop, you're hurting others around you. Just look at dad, your brother.'' Feeling helpless but refusing to lose help, Flurry pleaded with the twisted abomination. Once she turned to take a quick gasp of air into her lungs, she and Celestia focused all of their magical power on creating a calm but protective aura around the creature in an attempt to soothe its rage. However, the results were far from comforting like they first thought. The garbled sounds only intensified, accompanied by violent thrashing from the zombie, its vines lashing out with a deadly force, one capable of breaking the protective barrier in an instant. Despite her fear, Flurry stood her ground, unwilling to give up on her aunt. This was the only way.
''We can't keep doing this! I don't think I can hold her back any longer.'' Princess Celestia heard the desperation in her niece's voice and knew it was time to act before it became too late. As she drew up her countless years of wisdom, and with the help of the ancient magic she held, an idea popped into her head. Mustering the last of her strength, she held a hoof lightly against her niece's chest, confused Flurry ceased her magic, watching her aunt, curiosity. Quickly, the princess of the sun raised her head, her eyes glowing with a determined fierceness that struck fear into the hearts of even the most hardened of villains. ''I'm sorry, dad.'' Flurry heard her voice crack before the tears were even ready to fall from her eyes, as she rose her horn high into the air, channeling vast amounts of magic. Without a seconds of a blast of searing heat exploded from her horn, engulfing the twisted, zombie-like creature that once was Twilight Sparkle. The flames licked at its withered form, burning away the vines and decay that clung to it. The creature let out a chilling, guttural scream as it was consumed by the flames, its shadowy essence dissipating into nothingness. The room fell silent for a moment, the only sound the crackling of the flames that surrounded them.
''Aunt Twilight...'' Flurry Heart cried, her gaze fixed on the charred remains of her aunt. Tears streamed down her cheeks as the harsh reality sank in. Her beloved aunt, Princess Twilight Sparkle, was truly gone, consumed by the flames unleashed to banish the monster she had become. The sight was almost unbearable, yet Flurry Heart couldn't look away. ''I'm so sorry, Flurry Heart,'' Princess Celestia whispered, her voice trembling with grief as she enveloped the young alicorn in her wings, offering solace in their shared despair. ''But I had no choice...'' Princess Celestia remained rooted, her eyes locked on the charred remnants of her once loyal student and friend. The weight of the loss bore down heavily on her heart, but she understood the importance of holding onto hope in such dire times.
''Dad?'' Shining Armor groaned as he slowly opened his eyes, the bright light around him causing a sharp pain in his head, as his ears perked up from a voice he would be able to recognize anywhere. Before he could set his eyes onto his daughter, he blinked several times to try to focus on the scene before him, once he could see properly again, what he saw next made his heart drop - ashes scattered about, with charred remains of wood, and debris of cement, and stone...then it all came rushing back to him. That monster - trying to protect Cadence as a part of the roof caved in around them. His eyes filled with tears as he realized what must have happened...then his eyes finally landed on Flurry Heart. "Dad?" Shining Armor looked up, his eyes filled with worry as he saw Flurry Heart standing before him. "Oh my little one...I'm so sorry." He said softly, reaching out to her and pulling her close into a gentle hug. His heart ached for both of them; feeling powerless against such despair enveloping everyone around them like an unrelenting fog . ''I-I had too. I had to free auntie Twilight from the darkness. I-I had too-''
"I know you did what you had to do, Flurry. I'm just so sorry it came to this." Shining Armor said softly, kissing the top of her head and holding her close. He looked around at the destruction surrounding them and felt a heavy weight pressing down on his shoulders. "But we can't give up hope now," he continued with renewed determination in his voice. "We have each other; we always will." Princess Celestia nodded in agreement, as she joined the two royals, her expression grave. Once they saw her, Shining Armor, and Flurry Heart instantly felt their breathing cease as they knew what she was about to say. ''We need to contain my mother-''
''We need to contain Cadence. She's infected, isn't she,'' they said in unison.
''It must be done. I'm truly sorry. What do you think we should do?'' she asked, gently.
''As I grew up, I always saw Mom as if she were a crystal. Like a diamond, akin to the Crystal Heart. Why don't we confine her within a crystal?'' Flurry proposed, though a part of her wasn't entirely serious. Shining Armor looked at Flurry Heart with a surprised expression, then slowly nodded. "That...that might just work. The Crystals are known for their powerful magic. If we can find a way to contain your mother within one, she may be safe until we can find a cure." Flurry Heart looked up at her father, her eyes wide with hope. "Really? You think it'll work?" Shining Armor placed a reassuring hoof on her shoulder. "We won't know until we try. And I'll be with you every step of the way, my little one. We'll do this together." As Celestia and Flurry Heart stood side by side, their magic swirled around them, intertwining and weaving together in a delicate dance. They were surrounded by a soft light, their horns glowing as they focused their energy. Princess Cadence lay before them, her body still and peaceful. Her eyes fluttered open, meeting Flurry Heart's gaze. "I trust you, my sweet daughter," she whispered. ''I love you, I always will.'' she said, directing her view onto Shining Armor. ''And so does our baby.'' she whispered. Together, Celestia and Flurry Heart continued to focus their energy as they prepared for the crystal confining spell. They didn't react to Cadence's whispered words about trust or love; their concentration was too intense. As Shining Armor heard his wife's last whisper, he felt a knot form in his stomach. A baby? He hadn't realized that there was another life growing inside of her. But despite this new information, he knew what needed to be done. The safety of not just Equestria but also their unborn foal depended on it.
Flurry Heart watched as the bond between her parents grew stronger with every passing moment—a testament to their enduring love even in such dire circumstances. She couldn't help but feel proud of them both: one for being strong enough to face this threat head-on while carrying another precious life within herself, and the other for standing by his love through thick and thin no matter how difficult things might get... Slowly, a light blue crystal began to form around Cadence's body. It started at her feet, encasing them in a delicate, shimmering shell. It continued up her legs, her torso, her arms, until her entire body was encased in crystal. Flurry Heart watched in amazement as the crystal continued to grow, forming intricate patterns and designs on its surface. It was beautiful, like nothing she had ever seen 's chest rose and fell, her breathing steady and even. She seemed at peace, as if she were sleeping. Flurry Heart felt a sense of relief wash over her. They had done it. They had contained the infection within her mother, keeping her safe until they could find a cure.
"We have a mission ahead, Dad. Ending this virus is crucial if I ever hope to meet my future sibling," Flurry declared, emphasizing the urgency of their Armor nodded in agreement. "You're right, Flurry Heart," he said solemnly. "Our mission has become even more urgent now that we know there's a foal involved." He turned to Celestia, his eyes filled with determination. "We must find a way to stop this virus before it claims any more lives or puts our child at risk."Celestia placed her hand on Shining Armor's shoulder, offering him comfort and reassurance. "I share your resolve," she said gently but firmly. "Together, we will find a cure for this virus and bring an end to its reign of terror once and for all."
''And that starts with destroying the remains of Whispering Rose that lies buried in the Ever-free forest.'' Flurry Heart declared, voice laced with strength and determination as her eyes flashed with that of a leader, even though she was still fairly young, she had the heart of a true leader. They all didn't know how long the confining spell would last, so they couldn't afford anymore time. Intertwined the two princesses began to take flight, stretching out their wings. However only Flurry Heart lowered her eyes to look at her father. ''Happy birthday, daddy.'' she said, igniting her horn, as bright golden magic began swarming her horn...
