It was finally the weekend. Eliza woke up early and packed up a cooler full of food and drinks for her and Jeremy for their road trip. She made sure her phone was fully charged, both her back up batteries were as well, and that she left Jenna a rough game plan of their day so she wouldn't worry.

Next she packed the Impala. She put the cooler in the back seat with a couple of pillows and blankets, and a small backpack of weapons for in case of emergency. She also planned on filling Jeremy in on the family business so he wasn't left undefended. She couldn't risk telling Elena yet she knew she would over react.

Going back inside she headed upstairs and entered Jeremy's room to get him up for the day.

He grumbled and took a few minutes to focus but then he jumped up, got a quick shower, and got dressed ready for a fun filled day.

When they got in the Impala Eliza texted Stefan letting him know she was leaving town for the day, she would be safe, and to not let Damon drive him crazy.

Starting the car she backed out of the driveway and away they went on their road trip.

It was about an hour into the trip that she decided to broach the subject.

"Jer did dad ever try to tell you about what happened in town in 1864?,"

"Somewhat I figured he was just telling me stories,"

"Jeremy dad was telling the truth. Now supernatural creatures do exist. There are those who are evil and those who are good. If you trust your gut you can tell the difference,"

"Ok," Jeremy looked at her unsure how to handle this talk.

"Now the town in 1864 was well known to be populated by vampires but thanks to Jonathon Gilbert they were eradicated. Here's his journal to give you a idea of what he dealt with," she said pulling the journal from her purse in the spot between her and Jeremy.

"Back then there was one main vampire who was a real bitch. Her name was Katherine Pierce. She tried to take the town til the Salvatore's caught on. But she had done her damage. She had turned his two sons into vampires before getting caught herself,"

"Wait she turned the sons of the founding Salvatore?,"

"Yes you know them as Stefan and Damon,"

"What!, you're kidding me right?,"

"No, but Stefan is a good vampire, he feeds on animals not humans. Damon on the other hand is just a asshole. There is one more in town though and you are well known with each other,"

"Who?,"

"Jackie was turned a year ago,"

"Shit that's deep,"

"I know right. But there is a reason I'm telling you this. the bracelet you wear that I gave you is filled with vervain in the bead. Do not tell anyone. If a vampire tries to make you forget something pretend to be mono toned and make them think you forgot. Come to me or Jackie and we will handle the situation, or help you in any way you need it. If you want something erased then ask Jackie but it must be your decision,"

"Thank you Eliza, for everything. You have had my back since our parents died. Unlike Elena and Jenna you don't judge me, you accept how i need to grieve, but you also try to help me in your own way like these trips,"

"Jeremy you are my brother, i will always love you and protect you. There is one other thing you need to know," Eliza said pulling over to the side of the road cause it would be the hardest part to talk about.

"This isn't my first time being alive, I have been reborn a total of 5 times so far. I have to die a supernatural death to be reborn. The first time was a thousand years ago in what is now Mystic Falls, it was originally a small village or original settlers. The second to fourth was over a span of many years by the hands of a vampire who was determined to eradicate his family, and then the fifth time was at the hands of a vampire named Katherine Pierce. I am telling you this cause for some reason Elena is the exact doppelganger of the vampire that killed me. Yes it was hard to live with growing up but I learned to live with it and came to love Elena. But if you ever see Elena and she isn't wearing the small heart shaped locket I gave her, or if she seems off just walk away. If she tries to enter the house never give verbal permission to anyone you never know who can be a vampire and who isn't,"

"This is a lot to take in sis but I understand no verbal permission to our home, look for signs if this Katherine pretends to be Elena, anything else sis?,"

"No that's it for now Jer, are you ok do you want to continue on our trip?,"

"Yeah I'm good sis I want to keep going on our trip i have been looking forward to this all week,"

"Alright then," Eliza agreed starting the car again and heading towards their destination.

When they arrived in Charlottesville Eliza parked in front of the first store they were going to hit. It was a small herb store where she had picked up the vervain and the jewelry that could be filled with it.

When they entered Jeremy's eyes widened at the amount of different things he saw. Eliza guided him over to the main thing they needed.

"This is vervain, this is what I use to keep us safe. I want you to have some and to chose some jewelry to give to people you care about to protect them,"

"That is a great idea sis," so Jeremy went through the choices and gathered a handful, including a simple star necklace she knew would be for Vicki.

After they paid for the items they headed back to the car where Eliza popped the trunk and showed Jeremy how she had four bags set up. Two black for him and two blue for her for their shopping. He placed his first bit of shopping in his first bag and closed the trunk.

"Next," Eliza laughed at his enthusiasm having missed this side of him.

They walked down the street and came upon a small clothing store. Heading inside they were happy with what they saw it was rock style clothing. Jeremy grabbed a basket and went one way and Eliza did the same going another.

As she walked the aisles she saw a lot of nice things but waited for things that would scream her. The first item that did that was a black long sleeve shirt with rips along the arms and a red heart with a crown on the front. Walking a bit further she found a beautiful knee length skirt that was black with a red strip along the base and studs down the sides.

Up ahead there was a mannequin with the most beautiful gown on it and she got ahold of the store employee and told them she would take it. It would be perfect for the founders ball.

She found a table that held some jewelry and ended up picking up up a studded black choker, a few rings in black, red, and blue, and a couple of bracelets that were simple chains with small charms.

She then found their shoe wall. It was like looking at heaven to her. She scanned the size tags listed on the front of the shelves and found hers. On that shelf she found a pair of navy blue converse, a pair of red velvet ankle boots, a pair of ruby red slipper like shoes, and hanging on the side a pair of knee high black wedge boots.

Eliza headed to the cash after the shoes she was done with her shopping. Jeremy joined her a minute later basket over flowing with items and a big smile on his face.

"Good finds?,"

"Omg the best, thank you for bringing me here sis," Jeremy gave her a side hug as he placed his basket on the counter beside hers.

"Together or separate?,"

"Together," Eliza confirmed as the young lady rang their stuff through.

After about five minutes the sales clerk was finally finished.

"Final total after tax is one thousand two hundred and fifteen cents,"

"Thank you, it will be by card,"

"Alright," the young lady said as she set up the debit machine as Jeremy stood beside her looking like a gaping fish.

"Jer close your mouth before the flies get in. You like your stuff right, that's all that matters," Eliza pointed out taking a handful of bags before Jeremy took the rest.

Heading out they went back to the car and separated their purchases into their bags in the trunk. When Jeremy saw the dress Eliza bought his jaw dropped.

"Woah sis that is gonna be the talk of the party,"

"I know right," Eliza laughed at how true his statement was.

Eliza felt comfortable being here shopping, mainly cause like she told Stefan she was safe, cause Jackie was close by. She was doing a favor for Eliza taking long distance photos of her for her for a important reason. She knew it was tricky but when Jackie sent her the first photo she stopped walking causing Jeremy to stop wondering what was going on.

Giving him a its ok smile she saved the photo and opened the cloning phone app she had installed. Typing in a familiar number she had memorized she attached the photo and the words She has been reborn and texted it to someone important to her.

When she was done she and Jeremy continued shopping.

They didn't get out of Charlottesville til close to eight at night. When they finally sat back in the car Eliza reached back grabbing a sandwich and water for Jeremy and the same for herself.

They had their snack and she started the car, neither wanted to rush back home but they knew they had to. Now that Jeremy had more knowledge of what was going on she felt better about him being back there.

As they got closer her phone began to buzz like crazy.

"Woah who is texting you up a storm,"

"Someone important who has waited a long time for me to be reborn,"

"You mean another vampire?,"

"Yeah, a very old important vampire. Trust me you never want to get on his or his family's bad side they are a thousand years old and have a lot of power,"

"Damn," Jeremy was surprised such a vampire could exist.

Pulling over to the side of the road again she picked up her phone and opened the phone app. She had multiple messages in a span of five minutes.

Where is she?

I demand to know if this is real or some sick joke

Answer me god dammit where is she?

If i find out who sent me this I will hunt you down and force the answers from you

Please she is important

Eliza could tell how much she still meant to the man she texted and taking a deep breath she texted two words

Mystic Falls

She knew it was risky especially with the doppelganger situation but he deserved to know.

Starting the car again she headed home feeling a whole lot better. Jeremy had fallen asleep beside her and she smiled he was safe, he had the knowledge, and her first love knew she was alive that made the day complete.
