The next morning Elena woke up in bed not even remembering how she got there. All she remembered was crying in Eliza's arms.

Eliza on the other hand had been awake for the last hour, she had gotten dressed in a pair of her favorite black jeans, maroon tank top, and black ankle boots. Jackie had chosen to raid her closet today mixing her black mini skirt with Eliza's black long sleeve ripped shirt, and her silver calf high boots.

Eliza heard Jeremy coming downstairs when she called out his name.

"If you're going to try to stop me like Elena just did don't bother,"

"Ouch, no smart ass here coffee and breakfast," she said pushing a thermos into his hands and a breakfast burrito.

"Sorry she pissed me off,"

"Does that often now go on let me know what happens at the station,"

"Thanks sis," Jeremy kissed her cheek and took off.

Jenna had left earlier to meet with her thesis advisor and left them a note how she would be home late.

Elena was still upstairs when Eliza and Jackie grabbed their bags and headed out for school.

Pulling up Eliza shook her head in disbelief.

"Halloween already?,"

"I know right seems like just yesterday it was the first day of school,"

"Too much has happened but I knew I could never escape the supernatural,"

"It will be ok sis you got your super squad at your side," as Jackie struck the wonder woman pose Eliza busted out laughing.

She knew she had a good group of people around her she cherished what she had with each person differently.

Damon had at least had the decency to text her late last night telling her that he and Stefan found and took Vicki to the boarding house.

Nik had texted her too letting her know that Greta had arrived back, filled him in on everything about her progress, and he granted her down time to go visit her family.

She was proud of him he was changing in good ways letting people take time to visit family and caring about the well being of others. Mainly her little Mystic Falls group.

At the Salvatore house Stefan and Damon sat in the same room as Vicki to talk her through things. Damon had gotten the paper and was skimming through it as he held onto the compass.

"I don't understand why I have to stay cooped up here why can't I just go home?,"

"Because you're changing Vicki and it's not something you want to do alone,"

"There's nothing about that Logan guy I killed in here not a word, someone's covering it up,"

"What is that?,"

"It's a very special very old compass, what was Logan Fell doing with it? Aren't you curious,"

"If your so worried about someone being onto you why don't you leave town Damon,"

"We should all be worried, remember Jackie is protecting Eliza and if she gets taken out of town then we risk her getting taken out of our lives again,"

"I'm hungry do you have anything to eat?," walking over Stefan picked a cup off his desk handing it to her.

"Here,"

"What is it?,"

"It's what your craving,"

"Don't lie to the girl it's so not what your craving but it will do in a pinch right Stef?,"

"What is it?,"

"Yeah Stefan what is it? Is it skunk, st Bernard, Bambi,"

"Go on give it a try,"

"She's new she needs people blood she can't sustain on that stuff,"

"Yeah why can't I have people blood?,"

"Yeah,"

"Cause it's wrong to prey on innocent people Vicki,"

"You don't need to kill to feed, Jackie doesn't she catches and releases, you just need to find someone really tasty and erase their memory afterwards so easy,"

"No, no, no there's no guarantee that you can control yourself ok it takes years to learn that you could easily kill somebody then you have to carry that with you for the rest of your life. Which if I haven't made clear is eternity,"

"Don't listen to him, he walks on a moral plane way out of our eye line, I say snatch, eat, erase,"

"Hey look at me we choose our own path, our values and our actions define who we are,"

"Okk count deepak I am out of here, I'm gonna find something to get Eliza it's almost her birthday, Halloween remember,"

"Wait already shit I forgot with everything going on," Stefan had totally forgot about his best friend's birthday.

"Tsk tsk bad best friend," Damon teased him as he left.

"Can I have some more?," Vicki asked licking her finger after running it through the blood on the rim of the cup.

As Damon got downstairs he smirk hearing the bell at the front door chime. As he opened it there stood Elena a determined look on her face. He was disappointed he had hoped Eliza would be with her but he knew it was a school day so she would be there.

"Is Stefan here?,"

"Yep,"

"Where is he?,"

"And good morning to you little miss i'm on a mission,"

"How can you be so arrogant and glib after everything that you have done?,"

"And how can you be so brave and stupid to call a vampire arrogant and glib?,"

"If you wanted me dead I'd be dead,"

"Yes you would, but for the sake of Lizzie I let you live,"

"But I'm not,"

"Yet,"

"Where is Stefan?,"

"He's upstairs singing the rain in Spain knock yourself out, me on the other hand have to go birthday shopping for Eliza," as he said that Elena's eyes went wide mentally slapping herself for forgetting her sister's birthday.

As Damon took off Elena entered the house and closed the door behind her.

As Damon got in his car he had to think about what to get her. It wasn't 1864 anymore her tastes had changed. Then it hit him and he drove off to get the perfect gift.

Bonnie hadn't arrived yet and Eliza was curious if she was ok, all she knew was that she was finally opening up and listening to Sheila, who was the one to text her about Bonnie's dilemma.

"Was our family burned in the Witch Trials?,"

"The girls that were persecuted in Salem were entirely innocent, you have to have more then ignorance to trap a real witch,"

"How did we end up in Mystic Falls?,"

"Our family fled Salem in 1692 and relocated here with the help of the Mackenzie's who to this day still have ties to our family even if they don't use the last name you will know one when you meet them. You actually have but I will not divulge her identity to protect her. Our ancestors lived in secrecy for over a hundred years it's important that we still do,"

"Grams everybody knows your a witch,"

"They also know that it's absurd that it cant be true, I'm just a cooky lady that teaches occult at the university, no one really believes they just poke fun, and let them, don't let them know the truth,"

"Where's the witchcraft? You've been talking history for two days I wanna get to the fun part,"

"It's not meant to be fun, it's real, and it's serious, and you must understand it before you practice it. Aren't you late for school?," with that said Bonnie smirked and grabbed her bag leaving for school.

Eliza saw Matt and Tyler at the lockers when she walked down the hall and stopped hugging Matt and giving Tyler a nod before taking off with the girls again.

"So what's the game plan for Halloween night?," Bonnie asked as she approached Eliza and Jackie.

"Quiet night at home,"

"Oh come on it's your 19th birthday we have to celebrate,"

"How about this I will agree to a cake, and no more then 10 people in the house, family not included,"

"That works we'll do it tonight since someone booked the Halloween bash on the night of Halloween,"

"Ok sure see you and your choice of guests tonight then," Eliza said as Caroline pulled Bonnie away to class.

Pulling her phone out of her pocket she opened her text messages. Finding Damon first she let him know about tonight.

E-Party at my house tonight for my birthday, celebrating early cause school thing is on Halloween night will you be there?

D-For you always, good thing I went and bought your gift this morning ;)

D- Hush I wanted to consider it part of my atoning see you tonight go back to class :P

Eliza laughed out loud at Damon's messages, anxious now to see what he found. Next she texted Stefan

Party at my house tonight for my birthday, celebrating early cause school thing is on Halloween night will you be there?

Stefan though was busy with Elena and Vicki so he didn't respond right away like Damon did.

She couldn't wait for tonight it was the first birthday without her parents thankfully she had her friends and family to keep her mind off it.

E-Jenna the girls wanna hold a party at our house tonight for my birthday cause the fair is the same night here at school so 10 of their chosen guests, Damon, Stefan, and then us and Jackie

J- thanks for the heads up will make sure I grab a special drink for tonight and anyone who wants can stay the night

E- Don't offer that to Damon he won't say no to that he would try to sleep with me in my room

J-I trust him. can't believe I said that, he has shown that he cares about you and won't be ungentlemanly

Eliza was stunned at Jenna's response and left it at her answer before she went to class looking forward now to tonight and her party.
