Eliza woke up the next morning untangling herself from Jeremy who despite still being sad was doing better then last night. She headed through the bathroom to her bedroom to get ready for today. After all it's not every day that you get to celebrate your friends birthday from 1864.

She chose to dress simple today slipping on a pair of bell bottom blue jeans, a black tank top, her black gladiator sandals, and a simple thin shawl. Swiping a quick line of eye liner over her eyes she reached under her desk grabbing the birthday gift she had bought for him long ago.

Heading downstairs she put the gift by the door and entered the kitchen where her aunt Jenna sat drinking coffee.

"How is he?,"

"Coping, Damon compelled him last night to his wants to handle things better, Elena wanted it her way but he had his own choice,"

"Good so what did Damon do?,"

"He will act like nothing happened in front of Elena for obvious reasons, but he will grieve healthily, and won't turn to drugs and alcohol this time,"

"I'm liking Damon more and more," she said smirking as she sipped her coffee as they heard Elena start coming downstairs.

The back door opened same time as Elena got in the kitchen and Jackie entered, she had taken it upon herself to tend to the green house. She always had a green thumb and wanted to work on how to tolerate vervain for emergency cases.

Eliza laughed at Jackie as she pointed to her cheek. Jackie shook her head as she flashed upstairs to shower and change.

They all had to go to the police station to start the day so as Jeremy made his way downstairs Eliza shoved a thermos of coffee and a granola bar in his hands before turning him around and heading out to the Impala. She and Jeremy sat waiting for Jackie who ran outside with the gift in hand that she forgot.

Handing the box to Eliza through the drivers window she put it in the middle console as Jackie got into the passenger seat.

Eliza left Jenna and Elena behind. Jenna knew it wasn't personal she would be welcome in the car any time if Elena wasn't going with them. So usually she just drove Jackie and Jeremy and on the rare occasion Bonnie to different places if they were going together or she was going that direction and offered.

When they got to the police station they pulled Jeremy in first to ask him about Vicki.

"Where did Vicki say she was going?,"

"She didn't she kissed me and then just left the school,"

"Did she tell her brother where she was going?,"

"No she didn't say anything she just told Jeremy to tell me she was leaving town," Matt said as he was next to be questioned.

"Well is there anyone I can talk to that may know what happened to her prior to her leaving town?,"

"Stefan Salvatore may know, he came by the house to see her but she would't talk to him,"

"Well what was he doing there?,"

"I was trying to help her I knew that Elena was worried about her brother and he was dating Vicki and she had a drug problem so i tried to help,"

"So you got involved cause Elena asked you too?,"

"I asked Stefan to help I thought that by helping Vicki he was helping my brother,"

"So what was her behavior like before she left town?,"

"Up and down very sketchy like she was coming down from some major party," Matt tried to tell her everything he knew.

"Any signs of aggression?," and to that they all said no except Eliza who told her as it was.

"Did she mention any problems she was having?,"

"She was at the cemetery when you all found those poor souls, she showed up at our house strung out complaining about what I assumed was phantom pains, and then took off. I saw her briefly at the school talking to Jeremy and then I heard she was missing,"

"Thank you Eliza gives use a idea of what she was going through prior to disappearance,"

"Do you think she took off on a drug binge cause if so when or if she comes back I want to keep Jeremy safe, he is doing so good I got him cleaned up not using or relaying on drugs or alcohol anymore,"

"We'll keep you informed, but I think it's time as you as the oldest that you join the council,"

"You mean the one mom and dad were on?,"

"Yes,"

"I will join it I need to keep my family safe,"

"I will let you know the next meeting,"

"Thank you sheriff Forbes," Eliza smiled as she left the office knowing she was playing a dangerous game but needed to start figuring out what they knew.

As Eliza headed outside she stood on the top of step of the station stairs with Jackie as she saw Matt exit the building. Walking over she touched his arm and gave him a hug letting him know she was there for him no matter what.

He thanked her before heading down the stairs towards Stefan where he stood by a police car.

"I was trying to help her Matt that's all," Stefan spoke up as Matt stormed past him.

Elena, Jenna, and Jeremy exited the building next and so Eliza and Jackie joined them as they headed down the stairs to leave.

"I'll meet you at the car," she said to Jenna as Jeremy went towards the Impala with Eliza and Jackie.

Eliza stood against the drivers door and waited til Elena finished talking to Stefan before she approached him gift in hand.

"Happy birthday Stef," she handed him the gift as he gave her a small smile.

"Thank you Lizzie, I'm sorry I didn't make it to your birthday party,"

"It's ok you were trying to help Vicki, any plans for tonight?,"

"My best friend Lexi is in town, I would love for her to meet you maybe we could hang out together?,"

"Sounds great should bring Jackie along you know she likes meeting older vampires and picking their brains,"

"So true, I just don't trust Damon he might have something sinister planned,"

"Like hurt your friend kind of sinister?,"

"Yeah,"

"We'll handle it, for now go home get ready and open your gift," she laughed as she hugged him before heading for the car.

When she joined Jackie and Jeremy in the car she turned to her bestie.

"We need to make a trip out of town for a insurance plan for tonight,"

"Vampy back up plan,"

"Yep, ready for a trip bro?,"

"Hell yeah let's go for the day," Jeremy agreed a big smile gracing his lips at a day away from Mystic Falls.

Eliza started the Impala and headed for the bridge out of town they needed this reprieve from Elena, from the drama, from everything.

When the arrived in the next town Jackie took off to find their vampire insurance policy while she and Jeremy headed into the local ice cream parlor and bought a few tubs of different flavors.

Thankfully they had bought a freezer they kept in the garage cause the tubs would not fit in their fridge freezer.

Jackie came back two hours later and when she saw her she popped the trunk and Jackie flashed the new vampire into it wrapping vervained handcuffs around their wrists and ankles.

When she got back in the passenger seat Jeremy piped up.

"You got a bit of red on your cheek,"

"Oh thank you bro," Jackie said pulling the visor down and wiping away the spot.

It was a productive day so they headed back to Mystic Falls so they would have time to get ready before the party.

Tonight would be interesting throwing one of Damon's plans off course, normally she would try to understand his plans but planning something sinister for someone who meant so much to Stefan was just low.
