Sheriff Forbes was driving in her car looking for Logan when her phone rang.

"Where are you?,"

"Your daughter has expressed an interest in journalism, I think it's important to foster young minds,"

"What do you want?,"

"The satisfaction of turning your daughter into a vampire," as he said that he stopped at a stop sign.

Suddenly he was pulled out of the car by none other then Stefan. As he went to stand up and attack he was shot by none other then Damon.

"Payback's a bitch isn't it?, get her out of here," he told Stefan as he turned back to Logan.

His phone rang before he could touch him,

"Now's not a good time sweetie,"

"Did you get the bastard?,"

"Yup gonna handle him now I'll tell you later ok I'll slip in the window after it's done,"

"Ok Damon, and if a unknown vampire shows up don't freak out Eli sent two guards for the town to handle any issues,"

"Thanks for the heads up talk to you later Lizzie," he hung up surprised there was unknown vampires in town and he had never noticed.

"Logan what happened? Logan?," reaching in the car Damon grabbed the phone to talk to the sheriff.

"Sheriff it's Damon,"

"Where's Caroline?,"

"She's okay, I'm on Elm street," he let her know as he walked back to Logan.

"Let's try this one more time, who turned you?," he said after grabbing a crowbar from the trunk.

"I told you I don't know,"

"This tire iron here could take your head clean off,"

"Is that your final answer?,"

"How can you side with them?,"

"I don't side with anyone. You pissed me off I want you dead. Who turned you?,"

"I don't know,"

"Oh well then you're screwed,"

"Wait I do know,"

"You're lying,"

"Think you're the only one who wants to get in that tomb underneath the old church,"

"If you are lying to me I will end you,"

"I am not lying there's another way to break the spell. We can help you. Meet me at the old church,"

"Take me down, make it look real. Make it look real," Damon said as he swung the tire iron and Logan shoved him into the car.

As Damon groaned to make it look convincing as Sheriff Forbes showed up Logan flashed away.

"Where is she?,"

"She's okay, my brother's taking her home. I'm sorry Sheriff I just wasn't strong enough," Damon held his ribs as she took a deep breath.

Back at the school Stefan returned and both Eliza and Elena noticed him and made their way over to him.

"Everything ok?,"

"Caroline?,"

"She's okay I took her home, Damon was handling it last I saw. Caroline was shaken up, all she knows is that Logan attacked her nothing else,"

"Where's Logan,"

"He just said Damon is handling it," Eliza pointed out.

"You saw what happened tonight right?," Stefan asked as Elena went to touch his arms as he crossed them.

"I mean you understand why we can't be together? You see it?,"

"Yeah I'm starting to see a lot of things Stefan,"

"This is my cue to leave, see you later Stefan," Eliza patted him on the shoulder as she turned and left.

"Come on I'll give you a ride,"

"I can get home,"

"I know,"

"Alright that would be nice," together Elena and Stefan left together.

Eliza and Jackie had left a few minutes prior and were headed home when they saw the second guard patrolling by the school.

Waving goodnight to him they passed him and went home.

As they got inside Jackie took off to take a shower and relax while Eliza changed into her pajamas and sat on her bed waiting for Damon.

Her phone beeped with a new text message and as she opened it she smiled seeing it from Nik.

Fire lily hope you're doing good since you returned home. I hope you forgive the intrusion of the two guards we sent but your safety is our up most concern. I do hope those vials are doing their job and if you ever need more I am only a text away. I love you.

She loved how protective her family was. She knew it wasn't cause she was human and they were vampires, it was cause she had been ripped away from them too many times.

I'm happy and safe Nik I promise. Yes those vials are working I have planned to take one every morning before i leave the house and took my first today. How I know it works is cause I cut my finger in class today while handling papers and it sealed up right away. I appreciate everything you have done for me Nik and I love you too.

As she sent her message there was rustle at the window as Damon slipped in.

"Hey baby girl how are you doing?,"

"Good much better then before I left,"

"I am sorry about that night I shouldn't have reacted so violently but she took our chance to rescue those we have to from the tomb. tonight though I was told there is another way I went to talk to Logan at the church but someone got to him before he could talk. I have hope though we can still rescue them,"

"Really? I do hope so it isn't fair my parent's are stuck in there cause of Katherine,"

"I know and I regret ever getting so involved with her cause it ruined your life, I am rescuing her but only to end that chapter of my life I need a fresh start. I know I can't have you again but maybe I can find someone who is as amazing as you,"

"Sweet talker, you go do what you have to okay I'll be here to help you in any way possible,"

"Thank you baby girl," Damon kissed her forehead as he took off letting her go to bed.

Jackie re entered the room about ten minutes after Damon left and smiled seeing Eliza curled up on the bed asleep. Grabbing a blanket she covered her before she got into bed as well. She never realized she had such a protective side in her vampire nature. After tonight she knew just what she would do for her adopted family and would use it to her full advantage.

Suddenly Eliza's phone went off so she jumped up answering it before it could wake her.

"Elena what's wrong?,"

"I look like her, I'm on my way home I need Eliza,"

"Hang on look like who?,"

"Katherine," suddenly she screamed as someone appeared in the middle of the road causing her to hit them flipping the car.

She couldn't get out she was stuck as the man in the road got up she was scared.

Jackie was pacing the room she didn't know where Elena had crashed so she stayed on the phone with her. She knew this was bad the one thing she never wanted Elena to know was how she looked like Katherine and now Eliza's worst fear came true. Jackie knew she now needed to have the long overdue talk with her.
