The next day Elena awoke in a startled manner as her window blew open harshly from the wind from the storm brewing outside.

Eliza on the other hand with Jackie and Eli watching carefully from the doorway stood in the backyard trying to summon the lightning to her testing her elemental abilities.

Elena quickly got out of bed going to her window grabbing hold of it and shutting it making sure it was bolted close.

Jeremy was wide awake chilling on his bed as Anna stood at his window watching the weather.

"I love storms, Eliza and I would stay up just to watch them the nights I would stay at her home,"

"She did the same thing growing up too mom and dad could never understand it but I would stay up with her just so she wouldn't be alone,"

"Such a sweet brother," Anna teased as she got closer to him.

"Is it a vampire thing though cause I heard vampires don't like running water?,"

"That was only Dracula, complete wuss never showered,very smelly,"

"Seriously," seeing that he believed her she laughed shaking her head at how silly he was.

"First rule about vampires: don't believe anything you read,"

"You gotta tell me, I gotta know,"

"Didn't Eliza go over this with you?,"

"No, she made Elijah do it,"

"Elijah? Damn now that's a good teacher to have can't go wrong with a original,"

"Original?,"

"He made us, well his family did they were the first vampires and so on they created many lines of vampires," as she explained that a knock was at his door causing her to flash off to avoid being seen by Elena.

"Hey you're still up,"

"Hey what's up?,"

"Looks like there's a big storm rolling in, can you make sure the windows are closed and the shed out back secured?,"

"Yeah yeah sure," Jeremy agreed to help knowing Jackie would kick his ass if the shed was destroyed.

At the Salvatore house the next day Damon was pissed he had to hammer wood boards across the windows.

"I say we go to Pearl's bust door the door and annihilate the idiot that attacked us last night,"

"Yeah? Then what we turn to the rest of their house of vampires and say oops sorry,"

"I can't believe you made a deal with her," Elena piped up from where she sat on the couch.

"He didn't she is more scared of me then she is of anyone," Eliza's surprising voice came from the doorway.

"Lizzie!,"

"Baby girl," Damon made his way over kissing her forehead happy to see her.

"Hey Stef, Elena," she greeted one with a true smile and the other with a half smile.

"Plus it was more like a helpful exchange of information,"

"Information that doesn't matter to you right Day, though Eli and Nik will appreciate seeing her again," she laughed at the irony of what Katherine was in for.

"Plus it's not like I had a choice she's scary. But she is gonna help me bring Katherine back to Mystic Falls,"

"Of course she is, Damon get's what he wants as usual no matter who he hurts,"

"He is making a clear decision Elena so lose the snark," Eliza warned her not willing to take her crap anymore since she became a stronger more confident person thanks to everyone around her.

"I woke up this morning to learn that all the vampires have been released from the tomb I've earned snarky," she tried to defend her attitude against them both.

"Ugh," Damon groaned pulling Eliza by the hand flopping down sideways in the chair before pulling her down onto his lap.

"How long are you gonna blame me for turning your birth mother into a vampire?,"

"I'm not blaming you Damon, I've accepted the fact you're a self serving psychopath with no redeeming qualities,"

"Ouch,"

"Watch it Elena I will defend Damon no matter what,"

"This isn't being productive. We're gonna figure out a way to deal with Pearl and the vampires yeah?,"

"Yep," Damon agreed as he pushed Eliza up and together they took off upstairs.

"I'm sorry he just makes me so cranky," Elena groaned as she cuddled up against Stefan's chest.

"I know he makes everyone cranky, even Lizzie on her good days,"

"So what are we going to do?,"

"Damon and i are going to handle everything, with possibility Elijah or the guards help,"

"Well what about me? I can't sit here and do nothing,"

"That's exactly what you're gonna do. That's what's going to keep you safe,"

"Which means nothing if you're not safe too,"

"What do you mean I'm perfectly safe I have Damon the self serving psychopath on my side,"

"Ugh well that's comforting," Elena said sarcastically.

Upstairs Damon and Eliza laid cuddled up in the middle of his bed as she drew patterns on his arm blue sparks being seen as she did so.

"How are you feeling with all this new stuff happening baby girl, a elemental is a big deal,"

"It's been interesting, last night I stood in the backyard in the rain and felt the power of the earth flow through me it was quite a experience,"

"I bet, and Eli and Jackie?,"

"They are still being protective over me but Jackie has a boyfriend named Harper, and Eli is still dealing with business while we wait for Nik to come back next week to have the funeral for my parents. You will be there won't you?,"

"Nothing will stop me from being there to support you through that," he sincerely said as he kissed the side of her head knowing that the funeral would be her biggest closing of a chapter.

Jeremy ventured out in the rain meeting Anna at the Grill to have them time without interruptions.

"Okay we have some time, I'm not meeting my mom until later,"

"Wait does your mom know that you're?,"

"The fact you think it's possible to keep that a secret from your own family is proof you're not ready," Anna pointed out knowing he would likely only hide it from Elena.

"Not ready is a step up from no,"

"And a million steps down from maybe,"

"I like your bracelet,"

"Thanks Eliza gave it to me,"

"Can I see it?,"

"Yeah yeah," he agreed holding his wrist out to her.

"Hmm, Elena doesn't know you're hanging out with me?,"

"No, but I don't see why it would be a problem with Eliza, Elena on the other hand," together they nodded agreeing on that fact.
