Noticing Elena standing at a table Damon and Eliza walk over as a better song starts playing.
"Have I entered a alternate universe where Stefan is fun?,"
"Is he gonna be okay?," Elena asked watching Stefan dance with Matt's mom.
"He should be especially when Lexi arrives she has dealt with this side of him before," Eliza spoke up as she took Damon's drink taking a sip.
"Eventually one way or another," Damon said as they all stood there watching the dancing for a minute.
When Jenna joined them Eliza and Damon made their way out to the dance floor with him spinning her and causing her to giggle, he just cared that she was having fun.
Eliza smirked when she saw Alaric join Elena and Jenna and knew they were gonna end up together.
"When did this happen?," Matt asked as he walked up to Elena.
"DJ had a change of heart,"
"It finally became more fun," Eliza laughed as she joined them and kissed Matt's cheek as he wrapped a arm around her in a side hug.
"You want to dance?," he asked Elena.
Eliza didn't mind Matt asking her sister and not her she was having fun dancing with Damon who had slipped off to get them drinks.
"I don't know,"
"Yes, yes,"
"Go for it sis you deserve a bit of fun tonight," Elena was surprised Eliza was being encouraging and even called her 'sis' she knew they had been through so much lately she thought she hated her.
"Matt. Matt ugh,"
"Come on," he laughed as he grabbed her hand pulling her on the dance floor.
Eliza walked over seeing Jeremy about to interrupt Damon and Liz's conversation and wrapped her hand around Damon's arm as he turned kissing her cheek happy to have her back on his arm again.
"Excuse me sheriff, I was wondering if there was anymore information on Vicki Donovan,"
"Jer let it go let her rest in peace," Eliza sternly said as he looked down ashamed knowing she was right.
"It was an overdose Jeremy,"
"Yeah but her body was buried. Somebody must have done that,'
"We're aware of that the investigation is ongoing, but there's nothing more I can tell you at this time. I'm sorry,"
"It's okay," Eliza gave Damon a look as she removed her hand reaching over and taking Jeremy's to lead him away.
An hour later Damon sat at the bar as Eliza and Elena just happen to show up beside him at the same time.
"Have you noticed what your brother's been up to?,"
"No I've been too preoccupied with yours," Damon remarked as Eliza stole his bourbon and took a mouthful.
"Jeremy's been asking questions about Vicki Donovan's death,"
"He knows her death was ruled an overdose,"
"Really? Oh but Sheriff someone buried her. Who would do that?,"
"I know. I know, me! I mean I could compel him but he's wearing vervain,"
"You will do no such thing Damon Salvatore unless you want me to kick your ass,"
"Yes Miss Eliza," Damon smirked as he took a drink of his bourbon.
"She's right I don't want you compelling him,"
"If he keeps asking questions,"
"Damon no, I'm serious I'm not going to do that to him again. I'll handle it,"
"I already did," Eliza piped up as Jackie joined them.
She was happy Jackie was having a good night she didn't have to guard her she could just relax and let loose.
"Okay don't say i didn't warn you," Damon said as he took a rose out of the flower pot, smelling it, and then handing it to Eliza.
Standing up he took her free hand and led her away from Elena to have some time alone together. He was happy Jackie was around in case but even he could agree that she needed her time too to have fun and relax.
Damon had led her out to the balcony and they stood there together him behind her with his arms wrapped around her relaxing enjoying the night and the peace.
"Damon right?,"
"Fuck," Eliza whispered as John Gilbert interrupted their peace.
"John,"
"Hello uncle John,"
"Eliza, I hope your good heard you had some health issues,"
"Much better thank you," she was surprised he sounded like he actually cared.
"We didn't get a chance to meet at the council meeting," he directed towards Damon.
"Yeah it's a pleasure. Are you enjoying the kickoff?,"
"Oh yeah I forgot how much fun these small town celebrations can be, you and Eliza too I hope?,"
"Gilbert tradition right to attend every party sorta blends together," Eliza admitted.
"Yeah, yeah. When is the last time you were here,"
"When my parent's were buried," Eliza sadly said thinking of her mom and dad.
"It hasn't been that long. My brother's funeral like Eliza pointed out. Rough time for us all," Eliza nodded agreeing to that.
"How long have you been in town?,"
"Not long at all, but long enough to know Eliza here is a special girl I'm happy to be friends with,"
"That she is," John agreed knowing she had always been special.
"So what do you think Damon? You know this vampire problem is real right? It's a potential bloodbath,"
"I wouldn't overreact John,"
"Oh I think it's like 1864 all over again," as he said that Eliza's eyes widened in surprise.
"Vampires running a muck. Guess we're just gonna have to hunt them down and throw them in a church and burn them to ash," Eliza's eyes gathered tears as he spoke so coldly about it still dealing with the fact Ramon and Alexandra were murdered in that fiasco.
"That is the story huh," Damon could tell the conversation was bothering Eliza so he gave her his bourbon and rubbed her back.
"Part of the story yeah,"
"Oh there's more?,"
"Oh there's a lot more. You see it seems there was a tomb under the church where the vampires were hidden away waiting for someone to set them free. But then you already knew that didn't you? Being that you're the one that did it,"
"And you're telling me this why," Damon asked as Eliza wept turning around crying into his shoulder.
"I didn't bring this up to upset her, why is she crying?,"
"If you know so much you would know her parent's were in there. She found them murdered by the vampires inside who blamed them for the round up,"
"That I was unaware of," John admitted feeling bad for upsetting Eliza.
"But I thought we should just get the introductions out of the way,"
"Look, well, you know I could rip your throat out before anyone would notice,'
"Yeah,"
"Yeah okay. But you probably ingest vervain so..,"
"Why don't you take a bite find out,"
"It's not worth my time and I would rather take Eliza home and help her feel better," Damon pulled Eliza off his shoulder, took her hand, and started to walk away.
Damon stopped looking back before letting go of Eliza's hand, he then flashed back snapping John's neck and tossing him over the railing.
Walking back to her he took her hand again and together they went back inside. He led her to the washroom and gave her the chance to freshen up so no one would question why she had been crying.
When she exited the bathroom she felt better and her eyes a lot less puffy thanks to a bit of cold water and magic.
"You shouldn't had done that it will make things more difficult for you Damon,"
"I know but he made you cry was my right to defend you,"
"My knight," Eliza smiled kissing his cheek as they rejoined the party.
