The sun rose the next day but the house was somber they had decided last night to hold the funeral for her parent's today so last night she sent out a mass text to those in Mystic falls, and Nik texted those he knew in the supernatural world who could get the word out fast and so today would be the day in the evening to give people time to arrive.
Eliza and Nik had headed out early and had begun with cleaning the mausoleum. Nik took care of fixing and removing the nameplates of those inside to give them a good cleaning. Eliza was dusting so it wouldn't be so musty and dusty for those who arrive in their nice outfits.
They spent most of the day at the cemetery when they heard footsteps outside around noon. Eliza stepped out to greet who it was when she was stunned to see it wasn't just one person.
"My name is Lucas, we are from the were wolf pack in North Carolina. We heard the Mackenzie's had been found. My family were friends for many years with those in the family. We heard you are the last standing so we have come to pledge ourselves to the queen of the earth," he said kneeling as did his companions.
Eliza was in shock, people pledging themselves to her was going to take some getting use to.
"Please stand. I appreciate you all coming for my parent's Alexandra and Ramon. I also thank you all for that pledge it's new to me but very respected,"
"Of course your highness,"
"Please just Eliza," she said as she watched the pack sit outside the crypt.
Heading back inside Nik smiled in pride at her which made her blush and shoo him to get back to work.
Two hours before the ceremony was to start Eliza and Nik headed home to change.
She had chosen to go with a simple short sleeve black dress, black ballet flats, and her hair pinned up with a touch of eyeliner.
Nik, Henry, and Harper sat in the living room in black tuxes and Eli who was almost home had already dressed in his black tux to be ready.
Jackie was helping Eliza upstairs and had chosen to go simple too with a long black skirt, black long sleeve shirt, and black stilettos.
When everyone was ready they all headed out choosing to walk to the cemetery that was only ten minutes away. The walk would do them good to get ready to face everyone.
When they arrived though Eliza was stunned she did not expect what she saw. The cemetery was full of people. Many had brought flowers and wreaths. Some held old looking photos of different Mackenzie's.
She didn't realize the impact her family had had on the supernatural community.
Walking through the parting crowd Nik held her hand as the others followed behind.
Stopping at the front of the crypt Eliza took a deep breath before turning to face the crowd.
"Ladies and gentlemen thank you so much for being here to say goodbye to my parents. Alexandra and Ramon although they only had a short time with me, and I them, they were the greatest parents I could have. I know my family spans decades and by many of the photos I have seen many of you have had ties to us as well. I look forward to getting to know all of you," Eliza smiled lightly as Nik took the time to turn on somber music, and open the gates.
Eliza stood to the side as groups of three would go in where the double coffin that held her parent's now rested thanks to Henry arranging it to be placed there while they were getting ready.
When they would come out they would approach Eliza and speak with her a few minutes while the next group was inside paying respects.
Nik had got her a chair so she would't be uncomfortable while she greeted people.
Eli had arrived and made his way to his sister leaning down kissing her cheek as he took his place behind her right shoulder as Nik stood behind her left.
The guys were even surprised at all who had shown up from the supernatural community.
Henry was even enjoying speaking to people who knew his family.
Jackie and Harper stood nearby giving Eliza the space they knew she would need.
Damon arrived carrying a bouquet of blue roses Eliza's favorite and approached her giving her the flowers as he kissed her cheek. He had promised to be there for her and he was keeping his word he knew this was rough on her.
Bonnie and Greta showed up a few minutes later both girls hugging Eliza tight as they said their gift to her was already on the crypt, a protection spell to keep the building safe from any and all things that could happen.
Jenna, and Jeremy arrived shortly after them she knew not to expect Elena she would be too busy trying to get Stefan to eat while he was locked in the basement of the house that Damon explained was the best place for him right now.
Anna and Pearl also arrived knowing that this was a big deal in the community friends or not you knew who the Mackenzie's were and the power they held.
What did surprise her was Matt and Tyler showing up.
"What are you guys doing here?,"
"We heard you found your ancestors finally after 150 years of their bodies being missing it was only right I am here for you like you were during my Vicki moment," Matt explained hugging her tight.
"Our families have been friends for a long time I knew you wouldn't want the town to know so i intercepted the news to my parents and came myself to be here for you," Tyler explained hugging her as well.
"Thank you both that's so sweet of you," she smiled grateful for such awesome friends.
The ceremony lasted all night with those who didn't have daylight rings showing up during the night and paying respects.
It was nearing midnight when things finally settled down and people were leaving. Nik and Eli gathered the wreaths and flowers outside and made sure they were placed inside before locking the crypt.
Jackie helped Eliza gather the stuff that was brought for her and started taking it home.
Eliza took Nik's hand after he was done and together they made their way home exhausted but happy at how the day turned out.
